I finally reinstalled it just to see the visual updates.
The opening horse ride scene is now stunning! Once I hit the bridge and the water I had to stop and look around. Wow, Nicely done.
Not really playing it over, but people jumping in now are in for an amazing ride if everything else look like this. It would be a mistake to play any of the old versions at this point.
Another 9 easy. I knew draining it was a bad idea 🤦♂️
Worlds, exploring, gameplay, story... all having tons of fun. Over 30hrs in, and really feel like a Jedi.
Playing on PC - so do not have the HDR issues. Did need to use the scaling on Nvidia control panel - FSR2.0 seems to do nothing on my 3080. After 10 hrs and 2nd update everything seemed to settle down.
Went from Burning Shores to Jedi Survivor... super happy camper right now
There were games that ran awful on Ps2, PS3, Ps4 just like ones on Switch. Having 1 option was never a golden age when talking about optimization.
I rather go by history than on a prediction. PS4pro never prevented me from keeping my PS4 for the entire generation. Publisher kept supporting the "baseline" game just fine (they still supporting it today) If anything, the mid gen "enhanced" version is where developers cut corners.
Horizon Burning Shores on my PS5/4KTV is stunning to me. If that is the new baseline game for console play. I see no need to upgrade (Ps5 or TV) any time soon.
"I wonder if they'd ever be willing to explore the other wizarding schools in the world? I was hoping they'd make a tv series about that rather than a Harry Potter reboot"
This 100%
Was hoping they would expand the world with the games and series also.
I never upgraded to a PS4 PRO or a Switch Oled or a 4080 or 13900K. Steam top cards still include 1650s and 1070s. Just because a new part "exists" is not a reason to upgrade for many PC gamers either.
Let consumer decide - no need for an artificial 10 year development ban.
And consoles will continue to exist because of Windows. Microsoft's Mickey-ware still cant reliably "Suspend" a game to this day.
Well deserved for Jedi Survivor. Played it all weekend and tons of fun. Audio is also fantastic, 100% use headphones for this one
I'm on PC for Jedi. I played Fallen Order on PC, keep my collection intact. We had a Patch today (console gets one tomorrow)... but on my PC it settled down after 10hrs mark.
I lost track of this. I thought they were approved... but now they are not 🤷♂️
I could not even finish the short propaganda piece they called a single player campaign in the last COD. So for me it really does not matter who keeps Activision.
Glad more jRPGs are showing up on PC GamePass. Spend the money on that.
Never played Dead Island. But glad they pulled it off.
Also glad I have a StamDeck. Going from playing Burning Shores at home to stuck with playing either MineCraft or Advance Wars on the road would just make traveling for work even more annoying.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 476
1. Jedi survivor (PC... 48 hrs in)
2. Tears of the Kingdom (Switch)
PS5 taking a well deserved rest until FF16
It is one game after another. 🥳😎👍
Re: Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Prequel Comic Can Now Be Read Online
Oh wow thanks!
Art is much nicer than I thought it would be. I'll read it in bed over the weekend.
Re: Trails from Zero, Trails to Azure Exceed Falcom's Sales Expectations in the West
Great news!
Now, more turn based JRP! keep them coming
Re: Sorry, But the Drama Over Xbox's Activision Buyout Ain't Over Yet
@XenonKnight
I got 1 month of EA Play Pro for $14 to play it. Cant really pay full price for everything either.
Hopefully They will have all the fixes out for you by that point.
Re: PS5, PS4's Likeable One Piece RPG Adds Story DLC This Month
Nice. Loved it and it is a perfect jRPG to play on my SteamDeck. So great news for my commute.
Regardless if PS4, Ps5, PC... well worth a buy.
Re: Poll: What's the Best PlayStation Startup Sequence?
The PS3 Orchestra Tuning sample. Always
No other console has ever reminded me of going to the The New York Philharmonic with my parents as a kid. It blew my mind.
Only one with an actual concept behind it.
Re: Final Fantasy 16 Really Wants You to Know Its Action Combat Can Be Made Easy
Amazing, more options the better. I cant wait... Already have vacation penciled in for Friday and Monday.
Re: F1 23 Gameplay Flaunts Revamped Physics, Improved Handling, Red Flags, More
Nice, and back with Story mode. Las Vegas night street track will be epic!
No PSVR2 support, so I guess sticking to PC again this year.

Re: Sorry, But the Drama Over Xbox's Activision Buyout Ain't Over Yet
@XenonKnight
I'm 39 hrs in (PC)... that shipped sailed 😅
And as usual - the issues are nowhere near as bad people trying to make it out to be. At least not on PC.
Re: Sorry, But the Drama Over Xbox's Activision Buyout Ain't Over Yet
Burning shores... Jedi survivor... Tears of the kingdom... fF16
Better things in gaming to spend my time on
Re: Rumour: Next Assassin's Creed Now Apparently Sneaking into October
Yeah, I'll get a month of Ubi+ and test it out.
Lets go back to 15 year old mechanics stuck in a city is not high on my list after the last 3 AC worlds set me free.
Not romanticizing the past... the old stuff is archaic. But I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and $14.
Re: Capcom's Crazy Win Streak Continues as Publisher Confirms Record-High Profit
Loved RE7 / Village. Amazing to play and beautiful.
Do not care about more rehash like RE4. It does makes me excited for the RE Engine. Use the Demo to benchmark my HDR monitor settings.
Hoping for a new Monster Hunter that pushes the game like MH: World did. You can max out Rise on PC and still looks meh.
Wishing on a new Breath of Fire is hopeless. Obviously it cant compete dollar wise with any of this other stuff.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 475
@Mintie
Still on season 1, and enjoying it. The animation style made me stay away back in the day.
Great that it will only get better as the seasons progress.
Re: Horizon Forbidden West Has Become One of PS5's Best-Selling Games
Fantastic. Love the game, cant wait for more!
Re: Soapbox: PS Plus Might Be Gaming's Best Subscription Service Now
@Casco Yeah, same here.
Using a EA Play Pro for Jedi Survivor, but Tears of the Kingdom and then FF16 are next on my list.
No need for a subscription for some time after done with Jedi.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 475
1. Jedi Survivor
Jedi also finally motivated me to start watching Clone Wars using the Kotaku list (never seen the animated stuff)
https://www.kotaku.com.au/2022/12/the-essential-clone-wars-episodes-every-star-wars-fan-should-watch/
Re: Concrete Genie Developer PixelOpus Is Shutting Down
Oh wow. That sucks.
Would have loved something else from them in all the PS5 glory
Re: Soapbox: PS Plus Might Be Gaming's Best Subscription Service Now
1. Got PC Game Pass to play Wo Long and Hi-Fi Rush earlier in the year
2. Got EA Play Pro this month to play Jedi Survivor... try Wild Hearts and see Dead Space improvements
I do not see any of these as something to keep year round. Wait for a few games and jump on one or the other
If I have a Big game I am buying like FF16, have nothing active until I finish it.

Re: Hogwarts Legacy on PS4 Looks and Runs Better Than You Might Think
This is great news
I had the PC version running on my Steamdeck. Even on low/med it looked pretty good.
Same - mostly need to cut resolution, draw distance and lighting. Still looked pretty good and fun

Re: For Some Reason NBA's Kevin Durant Is Coming to Call of Duty
There you go, It is called Money.
The day Messi shows up as a foreign revolutionary with a plot for Basque independence I'll jump in.
Even the military Propaganda in COD campaign was boring 🤦♂️

That would be Day 1 also.

"nonstop upgrade path" is up to the consumer.

Re: EA Sports F1 23 Brings Back Dramatic Story Mode Braking Point on PS5, PS4
Great news.
Love these games. Always jump on during F1 race weekend. If it gets PSVR2 support it will make my day.
Re: Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Gets a Comic Book Prequel, Out This Weekend
Nice... Sold!
Loved DC did a 6 part comic prequal for Gotham Knights with Batman: Gotham Knights Gilded City.
https://www.dc.com/comics/batman-gotham-knights-gilded-city-2022/batman-gotham-knights-gilded-city-1
Hopefully this becomes a trend. Some Manga prequels for jRPGs would be great also.
Re: PS5 Pro Is '100%' Happening, Says Reliable Report
Errr, just like there was an upgrade to a 3080 and upgrade will come out for a 4080. $1,000 GPUs become "old" in 18 months
Software development (what games are) does not stand still, neither should the technology that runs it.
Consumers can decide if they want the upgrade or not. They can plan their own "hardware cycle"
Re: Quick Atomic Heart Teaser Confirms First DLC Pack for the Summer
Cool, I'll check it out. Played it on PC GamePass, so give them some cash with the DLC
Loved the music, still have some on my Spotify list.
Re: Gallery: Final Fantasy 16 Artwork Is a Feast for the Eyes
Amazing
There are no awful jaggies or low res shimmering views in concept art.
Thankfully you have the industry (well, except Nintendo) pushing hardware. Someday 1:1
Re: Forspoken Wants to Remind You It's Getting a Big Prequel DLC This Month
Rented the full game and really enjoyed it. Place it back on the GameFly list for the DLC.
Re: $70 Games Could Be Hurting PS5, PS4 Sales, But There's More to the Story
Balances out in the end
Mix of Full price Day 1, GameFly and Used Games I am spending the same I was on PS4.
Just find the right % off each option like everything else.
Re: UK Sales Charts: PS5 Makes Up 82% of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Physical Sales
PS5 was busy with Burning Shores anyway.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 474
1. Horizon Burning Shores (PS5)
2. Jedi Survivor (PC)
Simply fantastic back to back releases. Good times.
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores?
9 Easy.
Tons of fun from start to finish. $20 is simply crazy value.
And for someone like me that also plays games to see Digital Art in motion it was simply fantastic. The talent is on full display.
Hell yeah... Save the World, get the Girl. No way I was not picking that option.
Re: Activision Blizzard Boss Bobby Kotick Warns Billion Dollar Buyout Saga Ain't Over
There is something wrong when buying Activision is this much of a big deal.
Re: The Last of Us' Busted PC Port Is on the Up with 25GB Patch
Best place to play 1st party Sony games is still PlayStation.
Re: Microsoft Goes Scorched Earth Over UK's Activision Buyout Block

Re: Star Wars Jedi: Survivor (PS5) - Fantastic Sequel Is Bigger and Better in Every Way
Amazing, thanks for the review. Preloaded it last night. So ready!
Going from Burning Shores to Jedi Survivor is simply amazing. Back to back good times 👍
Re: A Future Dominated By Service Games Would Be 'Boring', Says PlayStation's Shuhei Yoshida
A future full of bad games will be a boring one.
Played single player games that are boring and service games that are amazing. And the other way around.
It is always about the game, and how much fun it is.
Re: Surprise! Guerrilla Games Pretty Much Confirms Horizon 3
YES!
Burning Shores is one of those games I wanted to pace myself because afraid I would finish it to quickly
But that went out the window, I'm being a crack head 🤣
Place #3 on the calendar please. Day 1.
Re: UK Sales Charts: Dead Island 2 Shuffles into Number One Debut
Never played Dead Island. But glad they pulled it off.
Also glad I have a StamDeck. Going from playing Burning Shores at home to stuck with playing either MineCraft or Advance Wars on the road would just make traveling for work even more annoying.
Just waiting for Jedi Survivor
Re: Wild Hearts, Wo Long Were 'Successful', but Koei Tecmo Sidesteps Sales Numbers
Well Wo Long is on GamePass so "success" is not about numbers sold. It is if it was profitable.
Did not play Wild Hearts but enjoyed Wo Long. Hope we get more of these.
Re: Sounds Like PlayStation Has Grand Plans for Guerrilla's 'Ambitious' Decima Engine
Great engine, it really looks stunning.
That said, let Studio decide what works best for their vision. It is one more option for them - not shoehorned on everything.
Respawn with SW Jedi is a great example.
Re: Horizon Forbidden West's Burning Shores DLC Is Getting Review Bombed on PS5
Only public game rating i care a bit about is Steam
You actually know they have the game and for how long they played it.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 473
1. Burning Shores
Weekend is finally here (and it is raining) time to go exploring.
This game is a showcase for 4KTV HDR gaming. My wife even asked what I was playing. She really starting to appreciate Digital Art in gaming 😊
Re: Sony Quietly Raises the Price of PlayStation Games on Steam in Select Regions
You have zero need to pay Steam prices. You only need Steam to activate/organize you game
I rarely buy games directly on the Steam store. It is PC not a console, you can shop around Digital stores.
Re: Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores (PS5) - Aloy's New Chapter Is Essential for Fans
Yeah... played a bit more last night after work and had tons of fun to close out my day. Fighting the big jumping robot was fantastic 😊
And the World, WOW!... everything has details. The Digital Artist talent on display here is mind blowing!
Perfect example of what I expect for my money - Fun AND amazing visuals. It is 2023, no more excuses.
And agree - crazy this is only $20!
Re: PS5 Sales Increase An Outrageous 369% in Key European Countries
Good hardware and great games sell.
And this is with Nintendo and Microsoft having a budget pricing version.
