@Apfelschteiner it's very noticeable if you can flip between the two modes in the same game. For example, you can do it in Horizon Zero Dawn (PS4 pro and PS5) and Forbidden West, , Shadow of the Tomb Raider , and Spider-man & Miles Morales (PS5, not sure about PS4 or pro). In loads of others as well. 60fps is much more responsive, 30fps feels painfully slow in comparison.
However I actually often have trouble telling the difference in quality /resolution mode, so just tend to stick with the higher FPS modes. In Forbidden West you need a microscope to notice the benefit of the higher resolution mode, but 60fps is a literal game changer.
Thought this might be the case. Couldn't get into Wii or PS Move shooters for the same reason, moving a cursor around just isn't very fun. "Light gun" games haven't been the same since the demise of CRT.
@BeerIsAwesome this is true, same way the plastic industry makes it all the public's fault for littering and not recycling (you can only recycle plastic twice anyway).
"Watts per hour" is incorrect. It's just "Watts". Watts per hour is like saying 'Miles per hour hour'. A watt is 1 joule per second. It is a rate of consumption, not cumulative.
You CAN say watthours, but it's almost always converted into Kilowatt Hours
So, a console consuming 0.5 Watts will consume 0.5wH per hour . Or 0.0005 kWh per hour.
@Luigia PS3 will be streaming only, like it's always been on PS Now. Sony would have to build a PS3 Emulator for PS5 to play PS3 discs, and there's no sign of that anytime soon. And likely no strong business case for it.
Wow, I had this aged about 12, was delighted to get an FPS on the Mega Drive. Didn't notice that the window was so small at the time, and that was playing on a 14 inch TV!
Interesting. I've struggled to see the benefit of HDR on HFW, and on Ghost of Tsushima it made everything look worse. Thought it was my TV's fault but maybe not...
@BritneyfR_ee given that the complete knowledge of the human race was deleted in the first game, it is very impressive they've all managed to learn English so nicely !
I've recently joined a company where working over your contracted hours is actively discouraged except in exceptional cases. My previous company had a culture where it was a badge of honour to be working at 1am. The difference is astounding, people are so much happier and more switched on at my new company.
It's a very common thing when a corporate takes over a smaller company. It's to incentivise the existing management and staff to continue making the same effort that made the company worth buying in the first place.
@get2sammyb actually it's not identical, the PS4 version is much more valuable! You get a PS4 copy for your PS4 and a PS5 copy for your PS5. (Yes you'd have to move the disc if you go physical). If you buy just the PS5 version it won't run on a PS4...
Yep, you'll barely find an enthusiast/hardcore gamer that cares, but as usual this will be up there with whatever EA sports game for top multiplatform seller of the year.
The Indie additions seem fine, if niche. But the service really needs an eye catching recent and big game every month. I suppose Vice City is meant to be it, but it's gone down like a turd in the punch bowl.
It's a shame you have to buy both. I'd have paid half the price to play Uncharted 4 again on my PS5 but don't need or want both ATM. Will wait til a big sale.
@theMEGAniggle I've completed it twice, including 100% and Platinum the first time and Main Story + 100% of Frozen Wilds the second time, and that's taken 110h in total. That was on Hard throughout, and I'm no hardcore gamer so died plenty.
I can imagine it feeling rather long if you've done 120 hours and haven't even finished it once.
@theMEGAniggle I don't really understand your point, how can you 'hate' the 22 hour length of Horizon Zero Dawn but find the 17 hours to complete Marvel's Spider-Man to be perfect?
Yes HZD has a lot more side quests and collectibles but they are totally optional.
The ideal length for a AAA game in my opinion- 25ish hours to complete and the same again for all the optional extras.
Really can't wait for HFW. The original was my joint favourite game of the generation and the only thing I played through more than once that wasn't set in Raccoon City. Horizon's story and world building doesn't get enough credit in my opinion.
Sounds about what you'd expect, no? Last of Us 2 and Red Dead 2 were over 100GB. I know PS5 games are meant to be a bit smaller, so presumably it'll been even bigger on PS4.
My tip for January: replay Horizon Zero Dawn, including the excellent Frozen Wilds, on the PS5. It looks and plays absolutely beautifully, and the combat is still fantastic.
Plus, the details of the story are easy to forget, always worth some revision before the sequel.
@Bleachedsmiles agreed, definitely a cynical move here. I got the PS Plus version but also bought it separately so I could get the PS5 upgrade a few weeks ago. Disappointing they didn't do this from the outset.

Re: Sony Leaks The Last of Us: Part I for PS5, Launching 2nd September
@Ryany I'd hope for more, otherwise that'd just be a patched version of the PS4 remaster...
Ideally they'll be remaking the whole thing in the Part 2 engine.
Re: PSP's Ridge Racer 2 Looks Tasty in Upressed PS5, PS4 Screenshots
@JimmyRiddle yeah, I don't think 'upressed' is a word. Barely shows up if you Google it. I think you can get away with 'Up-Res' .
Re: Huge PS Store Days of Play Sale Live Now, 1,800+ PS5, PS4 Games Included
RE Village is brilliant, get it if you're on the fence.
Re: PSP's Ridge Racer 2 Looks Tasty in Upressed PS5, PS4 Screenshots
What does "upressed" mean? Do you mean upscaled?

Re: British Gas Blasted for Advising Customers to Turn Off Consoles Like PS5, PS4
@Number09 hehe, a bit of Father Jack will resolve almost any situation.
Re: British Gas Blasted for Advising Customers to Turn Off Consoles Like PS5, PS4
@Number09 I mean, even the headline says British Gas. Just admit you read it wrong and stop digging.
Re: British Gas Blasted for Advising Customers to Turn Off Consoles Like PS5, PS4
@Gloamin agreed, but it's worse than that. They make money from waste. It's just posturing to distract from the real problem (i.e. them).
Re: British Gas Blasted for Advising Customers to Turn Off Consoles Like PS5, PS4
@Number09 The article talks about British Gas, merely passed on by the BBC, I'd take umbrage with BG first.

Re: British Gas Blasted for Advising Customers to Turn Off Consoles Like PS5, PS4
@Number09 British Gas isn't the BBC

Re: Beloved Classics Will Comprise PS Plus Premium Catalogue
@Ristar24 I agree, it'd be nice if we could access PS3 titles we own digitally for no additional cost, at least via streaming.
Re: Beloved Classics Will Comprise PS Plus Premium Catalogue
@Luigia PS3 will be streaming only, like it's always been on PS Now.
Sony would have to build a PS3 Emulator for PS5 to play PS3 discs, and there's no sign of that anytime soon. And likely no strong business case for it.
Re: Beloved Classics Will Comprise PS Plus Premium Catalogue
@Luigia if you mean the ability to insert a PS3 disc into the PS4/PS5 and play it, then no chance of that happening at all.

God the PS1 was such an amazing console.
I'd like to replay LAPD Future Cop, please

The new model is fine.
All depends on what games they add, and how frequently

Been a few months so, it'll be Call of Duty: Ye Olde Warfare or whatever it was.
Re: Horizon Forbidden West Is Getting Review Bombed on PS5, PS4 for No Reason
By the way, how can it be unrealistically diverse? It's meant to be a cross section of the world's population, that was built into Zero Dawn.

Just imagine having their lives. And be grateful you don't.

If it leaks a week early every month it's no longer of any benefit.
All that matters is the games being any good!
Re: Horizon Forbidden West Is a Whopping 86GB on PS5
@middyone pretty sure LOU2 was about 100GB on my PS5, maybe the patch made it bigger?

@OthmaneAD ah you're right. Maybe i got confused with the EA Play discount icon
Re: PS Store Sale Brings Hundreds of PS5, PS4 Games Under £20
Don't forget that EA games like Lost in Random and NFS Heat are on EA Play for £20 a year.
Re: Horizon Forbidden West FAQ - Everything You Need to Know
I still can't understand why they're selling a £70 PS5 version. Is it really just to rip people off?
Is there any reason at all why I would want to buy that over the £60 PS4+PS5 version? (I'll buy digital).

Re: Rumour: The Last of Us Remake Almost Complete, Out This Year
@UltimateOtaku91 I'd argue Uncharted 2 did that some years before Last of Us.
Re: Rumour: The Last of Us Remake Almost Complete, Out This Year
@Octane yes maybe, like they changed Spider-Man in the recent Remaster.
Re: Rumour: The Last of Us Remake Almost Complete, Out This Year
Unnecessary TV series cash-in.
I would've been much more interested in more new stories in the LoU world in the mould of Left Behind, probably with minor/new characters.
Unless they're remaking it in VR of course, which would be interesting.
Re: Soapbox: Don't Let F.I.S.T. Pass You By
@MyThoughts31 why not just buy digital? Or it's £30 on Play Asia (plus loads of shipping and tax I expect)
