I only found this series properly in 2020 after hearing about it years ago, and I'm still only on 2. Need to get back and finish it because I do love the story and characters, but the dated nature of the gameplay means I have to take breaks for a while and come back, as I just hit a wall

@ishaajo840 I agree with part of it, that poor PC performance is a valid reason to complain. But calling a Fromsoft game is too gard is like going to the Sistine Chapel and saying "great place, but I didn't like that painting in the ceiling". Hard difficulty has always been part of the games' identities. I'm not amazing at them and find them hard, but that's on me not the game

Looks like this game would be great on handheld. I'm getting a Steam deck for cheap from a friend so I might give it a go on there

This looks great. I love these sorts of smaller narrative games to break up all the AAA 40+ hour titles.

@CrashBandicoat yeah I would imagine so, or at least I'd hope so. I've actually gone back to Everybody's gone to the rapture as I'd never played that one. Also a fantastic game. I also love that you get different accents on their games. Not often you hear a Scottish accent that sounds authentic and not like a parody

Good to hear they haven't forgotten about it, but I'm not sure how much I believe this. Maybe when there is a release date it will feel like a real game, so let's say another 10 years

Good to see Still wakes the deep is in there. Although this doesn't prove much until the digital sales go up, but its such a great game and I hope it continues to do well

That sounds really cool. I love a game like this to break up all the AAA dozen hour games. Also What remains of Edith Finch is a fantastic narrative experience. Played it over the course of a night back in 2019 and its still one of my favourite gaming memories

I don't shy away from them because sometimes I just fancy playing a game that is challenging. But I will say with limited time I don't tend to play too many. Maybe one or 2 tough games a year. I also don't mind going backwards and forwards to a game over the course of a few month. I don't feel like I need to finish a game quickly

I agree that the games are meant to be hard and it's all about the sense of achievement. I wouldn't say I'm good at soulsborne games but I've finished DS1 and 3, Bloodborne and Sekiro (got stuck on fire giant on Elden ring).

Also what people who don't play it don't get is that if you level up and get some of the best weapons in the game, you can make the game easy it just takes a bit of time. I managed to beat some of the harder bosses in Bloodborne in a handful of hits

I thought the first one was decent. It definitely had its flaws but it was a fun adventure movie. Hoping the second one is an improvement

@Perturbator completely agree, but not to make you feel old, but that game was like 13 years ago. We're overdue another one 🤣

@TJ81 I completely agree. I mena obviously no one likes getting talked down to, but I don't think that is the intention of either Kojima or the Disco elysium devs. I just feel that whenever a piece of media tries to get a little artsy, it's straight away labelled as pretentious, or up its own arse. I just feel like with media like that you just have to go "this isn't for me" and move on.

I've been a fan of Kojima since MGS 2 and I've loved all of his games, but it did take me 2 attempts to actually get into Death stranding properly. With Disco elysium I got it on offer around November and thought I'd play it for a few hours and I would be done. It ended up being my 5th most played game of last year

The xbox one was great, the others were very meh. The astro and horizon reveals were good for playstation. And I only watched Ubisoft for more info on AC and Star wars. They might as well have done 2 individual streams and not have had a fill showcase

Such a great game amd I loved the writing and characters. I get people think it's pretentious but then that just becomes a by-word for "I didn't understand it and/or it didn't resonate with me" People call Kojima pretentious, which is a fair point but then his games are full of great ideas.

If Shakespeare was still alive he would probably be pretentious, but it doesn't change the fact that he's the greatest writer the world has ever known

Used to really like this back in the day, although I never got past the second level

I love this. I actually never played any of them back in the day, as I was moving away from playing platforms at that point, but now I'd love to go back and play them all, after how well loved they all are

I bought this on sale the other day and am absolutely loving it. Only recently got past the first boss though so still time before I can definitely say I love it

@Weez I understand where you're coming from with the splash screens and the little quippy way they introduced the characters, I just don't think it was that bad, though it was a good way to show off the characters.

And as you say the little gameplay snippet looked good so hopefully will win people over and be the Dragon age people want. Me personally I'm looking forward to this as I loved Inquisition and its now been a full decade since a Dragon age game. I'm hoping it's a return to form but as you say we can reserve judgement until we've seen more

@Weez but it doesn't have a lack of aesthetic, it has a stylised aesthetic just like 1 and 2 did. And as for the infantile tome, the characters don't speak much differently to the characters in Baldurs gate 3, which are generally considered well written

Don't know what the problem is. The art is a stylised aesthetic and is definitely what the original games wanted to look like. The whole "getting a team together" thing is one of my favourite themes in movies, amd is why Mass effect 2 is easily the best of the trilogy. And as for it being "woke" well as soon as that word is used the opinion becomes invalid and of no merit

God I have so many great memories playing this back in the day. I can't wait for this. Not played in over 20 years and the film is one of the best horrors of all time

I had a feeling it would be. Was hoping for literally ant other game. Enjoyed Borderlands 1 but played 2 and 3 woth friends and just couldn't get back into it

I'm looking forward to it because there will be a handful of announcements and updates that interest me. But I'm not excited, and I agree with most that he always seems to get better reveals for the game awards. Surely there is a way to reverse that cadence

@UltimateOtaku91 I'd also love to see a return to some of the more experimental side that we had in the Ps1 to Ps3 days. I know its unlikely as sony is a business first and foremost, but maybe they could do some deals with smaller third party companies and indies

I have little to add to all of these comments, like everyone else Astro made me feel like a kid again. It was a great showcase for the dualsense and seeing the nods to Playstation classic games took me back 20+ years

I hope this is good because it has great potential to resurrect the franchise. I think next 10 days makes it seem like Summer games fest. Could be xbox but it feels like it would do better as a Keighley reveal

Astro bot is genuinely one of Sony's best franchises, and I hope this game sells well so that we get future Astro games. It's the best none Mario platformer (easily) and has potential to be a great Sony mascot

@Golem25 although I agree to an extent, the most excited Iver an E3 I got was E3 2015 when i was 25 and I actually thought the 2020 PS5 reveal event was great too. Its just that there's no big PS5 games coming out that I'm personally interested in, apart from Astro bot, which I got excited over like a kid at Christmas, because its a great game to play with my family. When the next round of big 1st party stuff is revealed I'm sure the excitement will come back to me

I'm excited but after the last showcase and state of play, I'm going in with lowish expectations, that way I can't really be disappointed. If we get the rumored Astro bot game and at least one other big-ish surprise that will be a good showing in my opinion

@Jenny_Jones yes will finally get round to playing Dredge. My foremd raved about it when it cane out but I had a few games I was playing at the time

Sounds awesome. Surely there must be a showcase soon. Been at least 3 or 4 ps5 game reveals rumoured. Surely they can't all be at summer games fest

It was obviously pronounced "jib". As mentioned in the article it comes from the word giblets which is pronounce "jib-lets". Has anyone actually been pronouncing it wrong all this time?

I'd be happy with any of them to be honest. All game franchises that I've enjoyed. Amd when I was kid I used to love Civ, and just strategy games in general

Hopefully less leaks this year, although that's unlikely in this day and age. Despite some people hating on him, I like Keighley, and there's always a handful of games announced at his events that get me excited

Not managed to get round to Stellar blade yet (still playing FF VII rebirth) but I liked the look of this and I'm glad it seems to be doing well. We need more new IPs being successful

I only ever played the first one and then a little bit of world at a friend's. Definitely going to be getting Wilds when that releases

Helldivers showed that a live service game done well has a big audience on PS5, and I'll be honest this was always the one I was most excited for, purely because I love the kind of sci fi aesthetic they're going for. Cautiously optimistic for this one and can't wait to see more

I'm optimistic about this one. Love feudal Japan as a setting and when Assassin's creed is done well (AC2, black flag, oddessy) it can be a fantastic game. But so many end up being very underwhelming

Great choice this month. Be nice to play the new fif- sorry FC 24. Ghostrunner 2 seemed really good from what I saw, and Tunic was a fun little zelda like that I started on xbox but didn't get more than a couple of hours into. Already own destiny and not played it in a while, so I'm not as fussed about that

I'm hoping for a ps plus release soon. I slept on this when it first came out, but people really seem to love it and I've heard very good things about the soundtrack in particular

If they bring back Hogs of war, I'll be a very happy man

Not what everyone wants, no. But better believe me and my family will be getting it. We have a board game night every so often and the kids love Rayman

Oh and tales of Kenzera Zau looks amazing too, but I ignored that because its coming later

Dave the diver looks fantastic. I watched PlayStation access playing it yesterday and it looks really fun and unique. The rest of the games, I'm not too fussed

It seems like games set in feudal japan do quite well over there. Ghost of Tsushima did OK too and got some lip service from japanese devs
