Re: Dragon's Dogma 2 Tops an Impressive 3 Million Sales

Cloud39472

@ShogunRok It wasn't a published article or by you personally, no. I'm talking about Push Squares assistant Editor Liam Croft who gave Forspoken and FF7 Rebirth the same score which is baffling and he's written quite a few of the related sales articles if I'm not mistaken.

But as for the sales topic, I don't think you can deny that FF16 and Rebirth articles are always written from a very negative stance on this site. FF16 is in the top best selling (number 5 I think) PS5 games of all time but this site continuously tried to market it as a flop.

For a site that claims to care about context, you use a well known terrible journalist from Bloomberg as your source when it comes to talking about Rebirth's sales? When we all know very little is known about how much Rebirth sold but you keep making articles about it regardless.

We also know very little about Stellar Blades sales but you can't stop putting it on a pedestal of greatness in contrast to how you treat Rebirth. It's obvious to me there's some bias here.

I could say more but it's already close to deserving a TLDR so I'll stop.

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Reveal Trailer Is Already the Most Disliked in Series History

Cloud39472

@Jaz007 You're right, I assumed, which was wrong of me. However people don't assume for no good reason, there are many people excusing the inaccuracy of the series except when it comes to Shadows.

Your pass for Da Vinci is strange though. In the argument of historical accuracy, the tech wasn't available and so shouldn't have been in the game but whatever.

I'm going to stay out of this argument. I just get heated and say things out of place. I apologise for assuming, I know when I'm wrong and get what you're saying.

Still, Naoe exists and so there is a Japanese protagonist that people can play and I still don't see the problem personally.

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Reveal Trailer Is Already the Most Disliked in Series History

Cloud39472

@Jaz007 So if they just didn't name him Yasuke, would it still be a problem? I just find it weird that you all only have a problem with historical inaccuracy when you have to play a black man in Japan.

It wasn't the pieces of Eden or Adam and Eve Or playing as Odin himself and taking part in Ragnarok or Da Vinci building tanks. It was the black man in Japan that ruined it for you? How am I supposed to see it as anything but veiled racism?

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Reveal Trailer Is Already the Most Disliked in Series History

Cloud39472

Ignoring the racism for a moment (though maybe it applies here too) why do people keep pretending Naoe doesn't exist?

"we wanted a Japanese protagonist in Japan!" there's a Japanese protagonist right there but people seem to be ignoring her because she's a woman and what they really wanted was a Japanese man.

Now that these Racist/Sexist gamers have to choose between a black man or a woman, they're having an absolute meltdown. Kinda hilarious to watch really.

All of this backlash however will have the exact same effect on AC as it did on Hogwarts Legacy which is to say absolutely nothing.

Re: Final Fantasy 16, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Fail to Meet Expectations on PS5

Cloud39472

@Flaming_Kaiser You clearly don't only give your personal opinion though because you keep speaking for other people.

FF still sells more than 99% of JRPG's the problem is that FF made a name for itself for being the big budget cutting edge JRPG series but the amount of people interested in said games doesn't add up to the growing development costs to keep it that way.

You're not breaking anything to me because i am part of the existing fanbase. I am an OG FF7 fan but you seem to be missing my point.

Re: Final Fantasy 16, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Fail to Meet Expectations on PS5

Cloud39472

@Flaming_Kaiser I could flip that though, I'm a huge FF fan and I buy the games, figures, soundtracks, posters etc I love Rebirth so clearly if a huge FF fan like me loves it then things must be going incredibly well.

Do you get what I'm saying and why what you're trying to imply is ridiculous?
I could just say maybe you're not as big a fan as you thought you were.
Just because you don't like it doesn't mean squat. Just like me loving it amounts to the same thing.

All i will say is, most people who have played it have enjoyed it and you can look at reviews across the board that speak for themselves. Take that for what you will.

Re: Final Fantasy 16, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Fail to Meet Expectations on PS5

Cloud39472

@UltimateOtaku91 Sure but you still know that you're going to have to wait upwards of 3-5 years to see it continue. If anything, knowing 7's story already should make the wait easier.

Anyone who claims greed is lacking in intelligence. This was a risky undertaking which they knew in the first place from the creatives of the original who wanted to do something bigger. Greed is part of the process perhaps, they are a business but ultimately you can see the care that's put into it from the development team.

Re: Final Fantasy 16, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Fail to Meet Expectations on PS5

Cloud39472

@UltimateOtaku91 Maybe you can explain this to me because I don't understand the "waiting for the whole story argument". Is God Of War bad because you have to play upwards of 5 games to get the whole story and see Kratos' character development?

Is the Witcher bad for having to play 3 games to get the whole story? Or Uncharted? Or Lord Of The Rings? Why is it a problem for FF7 to have sequels that tell a complete narrative but everything else is Ay-Ok?

Not even trying to be rude or anything, this argument just never made sense to me and I'm tired of seeing it.

Re: Poll: What Do You Think of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's Ending?

Cloud39472

@ShogunRok I'm a week late but I'll say it anyway. I don't think or believe that it was switching between realities and it's more to do with Cloud denying what's happening in front of him in real time. There was what was really happening and what was happening in Clouds head and it was flicking between the two. That's my belief anyway, it's obviously confusing on purpose though.

Re: Square Enix to 'Aggressively' Pursue Multiplatform Strategy from Now On

Cloud39472

@Zenos Depends where you look I guess. If you frequent sites like Reddit, Gamefaqs or even Push Square then yeah, there is a lot of negativity because that's what those sites feed off of. You only need to look at aggregate score sites like Opencritic to see how highly praised Rebirth is. It has scores comparable to the Witcher and Baldurs Gate and in my opinion deserves to stand with them as an all time great too.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Stellar Blade?

Cloud39472

@Tatarimokke It doesn't really have anything in common with FF but it does borrow a lot of elements from Nier (mostly story related). It has much more in common though with the things you said you enjoy like Souls elements in the combat and is obviously a Krpg so I'd say go for it if you enjoyed the demo.

Re: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Sales Remain Muted in the USA, Compared to Past Games

Cloud39472

@tameshiyaku I see what you mean, I wouldn't consider any of that to be rip off territory though. The way I see it, FF has been high fantasy with multiple races like 9, 14 or Sci fi fantasy like 7, 8,13 etc so why not dark fantasy?

It was interesting to see an FF take on gritty and honestly I think it could've easily been more violent. The violence from the demo drops off pretty hard afterwards and I kinda wish it kept that tone. Anyway, while it may share similarities I don't think calling it a straight copy is fair.

I mean GoT doesn't have massive Kaiju battles or a fight against God as far as I'm aware.
