@TruestoryYep There's loads of Goty contenders this year. FF7 Rebirth, Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth, Astro Bot and more potential round the corner like Metaphor Refantazio, Assassin's Creed Shadows and more I'm probably forgetting.
@DonJorginho I'm hoping Rebirth wins this year so FF can finally get a win but it's looking like Astrobot is going to be a big competitor and there are still some heavy hitters around the corner too.
I've been avoiding news and trailers for this game like the plague. Trying to go in as blind as I can but Atlus seem to be trying to make that as hard as possible.
Wow... I wish Itsuno the best but as a DMC fan this is absolutely terrible news. Without Itsuno I don't know if a DMC6 will even be greenlit as it was always him who made the push to make these games happen.
@Uromastryx True, there's still lots for them to do, especially if we're getting Highwind and the submarine too. Not to mention part 3 is going to be Disc 2+3 👀
So so so much content but they seem to know what they're doing and they've kept most of the same team across all 3 parts which also helps speed up development a bit.
@DonJorginho There's also some pretty bad invisible walls in the game. Some paths look explorable until you're met with a forcefield and other paths that look exactly the same are actually explorable.
This leads to having to run at every invisible wall you see, just in case you might miss something.
@somnambulance It hopefully won't take as long due to all the assets they can reuse from Rebirth. I'm thinking late 2026? Though early 2027 might be more fitting.
@riceNpea Sure, it doesn't ultimately matter where the sales come from but it does show that outside of China, there hasn't been much interest which I think should be at least a little concerning.
Of course it's still early days and word of mouth may help it sell more worldwide.
Outside of China it's not doing the best. This isn't anything against the game but if we're going to dunk on sales of other games then Wu Kong deserves it too. It is being hard carried by China.
I might play it when it gets a physical release myself and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
I was just thinking about this yesterday. FF13 is the only mainline game not playable on PS5 (not counting 11) sort it out Square! Remake, remaster, I don't care just make it happen!
Very well deserved. Even considering that Act 3 feels a bit patched together, it's still a far superior offering of truly fantastic content compared to most games. If Act 3 still included the cut upper city of Baldurs Gate, it would've been insane.
The older I get the more I hope that I don't like any of the new games announced so I don't have to worry about not having enough time to actually play them all. So for me personally, I hope all the new games announced don't appeal to me so I can continue catching up with my ever growing backlog of games!
I'm looking forward to it. It's going to be hard not to compare it to BG3 as I've been playing that religiously for the past month and will probably just about be done with it by the time this comes out.
@neillaw The original was full of cheesy charm so not a dealbreaker for me and to each their own I guess. Remakes battle system is one of the best in the series history and I really hope they adopt it for future mainline entries.
@Flaming_Kaiser Yeah, that part is understandable. The part I don't understand is where you said "For me they are ruining the story and characters they made cloud a joke with the dress up nonsense going to the beach bull is also a waste. They just ruined a legendary Final Fantasy such a waste."
If you feel this strongly about it then I don't understand why you would bother playing it at all?
@J2theEzzo The problem for me is that a lot of the fans that dislike the Remakes claim that it's utter trash which makes it hard for me to see someone like that as a fan if they can't find at least some enjoyment in what Remake/Rebirth has to offer. The parts that make them hate it so much are quite literally 5% of the overall content afterall.
As to your point for "Some of whom seem a bit 'salty', and maybe they would have equally loved the game without the new direction, because they're such fans."
I would have loved a 1:1 Remake if that's what they did but now that I've seen the results of the Remake project, if I had to choose between a standard remake and what we have then I would choose the latter every single time.
I know you weren't talking to me but FF is probably my favourite thing to talk about so couldn't help but chime in.
@tameshiyaku Yeah, it's annoying too because a lot of it just comes down to entitlement. These are the original creators but fans seem to think that they deserve input in the creative process or think they know better.
I'm glad that they decided to take risks and expand the story and characters because so far (imo) they've been knocking it out of the park and I'm sure part 3 is going to be phenomenal.
@Flaming_Kaiser You're complaining that it's taking too long and that they ruined it but you're going to buy it when a "complete edition" comes out? Just save your money and time and just let it go maybe?
@Keyblade-Dan Is it still fanfiction when it's made by the original developers? Doesn't really make sense given the context. Besides don't you like KH? Thought the stuff happening in Rebirth would totally be your jam.
I think though that people are missing the point as to why all this timebending stuff is happening in the story at all in the first place. It only exists to give each part an actual final boss. Fighting the robot on the bridge would've been incredibly boring for part 1 and Jenova at the end of part 2 would also have been lackluster without Time Sephiroth spicing it up a bit.
@jrt87 I hear you. I hated the minigames that LAD:Infinite Wealth forced me to play and it distracted from the story way too many times.
Did you play the original 7? Basically any of the minigames that were part of the story in that still are so if you didn't like those then it'll basically be the same thing.
@jrt87 If you just want to go through the story then you can do that. A lot of people don't realize how many minigames can actually be skipped. I've seen a lot of people complain about being forced to play the Queensblood tournament but you can literally go to the front desk and opt out.
So I think a lot of the complaints come from people who seriously don't know what they're talking about or don't realise it's their own problem if they feel compelled to beat absolutely everything.
@Gaia093 It's even more frustrating when you consider that the mandatory mini games like Dolphin and Junon Parade were also mandatory in the original game too.
I'm sure in part 3 people are going to be annoyed about snowboarding as well.
@Flaming_Kaiser All of that is very subjective and doesn't make it "better" than anything that came before it. At least not for me anyway. Guiding winds is the only thing mentioned that is different and even that is just like following a waypoint in any other game.
Ghost of Tsushima was great but it also suffered from a lot of the same problems as other open world games and I've never understood what it apparently did so much better.

@TruestoryYep There's loads of Goty contenders this year. FF7 Rebirth, Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth, Astro Bot and more potential round the corner like Metaphor Refantazio, Assassin's Creed Shadows and more I'm probably forgetting.
I can pretty much guarantee it won't be Wu Kong.

Re: Star Wars Outlaws Director a 'Little Disappointed' with Critical Reception
I don't see why he's surprised. It's one of the most 7/10 games Ive ever played.
Re: Baldur's Gate 3's Huge Patch 7 Is Out This Week on PC, PS5 Has to Wait 'A Little Longer'
I'm holding off on my two durge playthroughs until this patch is out on PS5. Good thing I've got more than enough games to fill the gap!
Re: United Kingdom of Euchronia Calls as Metaphor: ReFantazio Draws Near

Re: Mini Review: Vampire Survivors (PS5) - Indie Icon Should Come with a Health Warning
I already have it on Steamdeck so won't be double dipping but it is super fun and I have to tear myself away whenever I play.

Re: Visions of Mana Dev Basically Shut Down Just as the RPG Releases
I wonder how this will be twisted to somehow be Squares fault?
Re: Star Wars Outlaws (PS5) - Open World Pledge Produces a Superficial Space Outing
@darylb24 Yeah, some of Push Squares reviews really don't line up comparatively.
Re: Star Wars Outlaws (PS5) - Open World Pledge Produces a Superficial Space Outing
It's an OK game that I'd give a 7/10 personally. It's a bit overly simple at times but it's fun and I enjoy Kay and Nix's adventures.
Re: Star Wars Outlaws (PS5) - Open World Pledge Produces a Superficial Space Outing
@OldGamer999 I think it will. Assassin's Creed is their golden goose.
Re: Round Up: Star Wars Outlaws PS5 Reviews Are Hit and Miss
I got mine a week early and I've been enjoying it so far. The worlds are beautiful.
Re: Black Myth: Wukong Has Sold an Astonishing 10 Million Copies in Three Days on PS5, PC
@riceNpea @Ravix They blocked me too a while ago, soon the only comments they'll see on here will be their own. Their block list must be a mile long.

Re: Silent Hill 2 PS5 Remake Is Quite a Bit Longer Than the Original
Still really not digging this Remake. Character redesigns are bad, Fog isn't thick enough, general vibe just feels off etc
One of the few times where I'm waiting for reviews because I loved the original but this just doesn't look like it has anything to offer.

Re: Black Myth: Wukong Prompts PS5 Sales Explosion in China
@WizzNL I thought assumptions is what we do here at PushSquare?
You're right though, maybe it's done better outside of China than it seems. Either way, it's done very well regardless.
Re: Black Myth: Wukong Prompts PS5 Sales Explosion in China
@WizzNL Apparently sales are between 4.5 and 5 million https://gameworldobserver.com/2024/08/21/black-myth-wukong-sales-4-5-million-copies-report

Ben Starr? I'm sold.
Re: PS5 Open World Crimson Desert Unleashes Even More Gameplay, Big Boss Battles Look Crazy
This game looks too good to be true, it's every big RPG mashed together. Time will tell I guess! I hope it plays even half as good as it looks.
Re: Monster Hunter Wilds Continues to Look Incredible Ahead of PS5 Release in 2025
I was very disappointed in Rise but this looks a lot more like the "World 2" I wanted.
Re: Round Up: What Was Announced During Gamescom Opening Night Live 2024?
This was a pretty weak one. I'm glad though, less backlog for me!

Why do they always reduce the amount of fog? I swear it was thicker back in the original or am I crazy?
Re: Site News: Where's Our Black Myth: Wukong PS5 Review?
I was hyped for this game when it was first announced and then steadily lost more and more interest over time. I don't think I'll be getting this one.
Re: Persona 3 Reload Dev Says P3P's Female Protagonist 'Likely Never Going to Happen'
Atlus really don't care about Female leads huh? It's a shame and very disappointing.
Re: Preview: Persona 3 Reload's Episode Aigis Remake Will Still Divide Opinion
I wasn't much of a fan of The Answer and was hoping the Remake would improve it but considering that's not the case, I think I'll pass on this one.
Re: Dragon Age: The Veilguard Confirms October PS5 Release Date in a Much Better Trailer
It's been a roller coaster following this game but I'm totally sold now! Also Morrigan looking better than ever!
