Re: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Sales Remain Muted in the USA, Compared to Past Games

@Savage_Joe Did you just try and uno reverse me? I don't know if you intended to just repeat what I said back at me Lmao i never said or implied that I have that information, that was my whole point. You made an example out of limited information to come to the conclusion that Rebirth had done poorly, I just did the exact same thing the other way to make a point.

Did you actually read my response?

Re: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Sales Remain Muted in the USA, Compared to Past Games

@Savage_Joe Sure, an example based on incomplete and outdated data. The most recent we heard was that Rebirth had 2.21 million active players on launch day. Meaning that it probably sold even more than that on day 1 since not everyone plays on release even if they bought it.

It's sitting ahead of unicorn overlord in March in the US which sold over 500000 copies last we heard which was a month ago (worldwide) and we know that Rebirth has sold far more than that of course.

So, with all this very sparse data, we can assume that Rebirth is at least in the range of 3 million sales at this point. Using your mathematics, that would mean it's made $143M at least so far. I won't pretend to know what the budget was for the game and until we know more it's all just speculation.

This also isn't taking into account how much money Sony paid for exclusivity which could easily make the balance. Square Enix have been dead quiet and so it's easy to assume the worst but it's just so frustrating to see these articles pushing this narrative of FF games being a flop by using literal scraps of info.

Gaming journalism at its finest I suppose.

Re: Despite Hype, Analyst Says Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth 'Underperforming'

Cloud39472

@Supern0va I find it hard to believe that any fan of FF7 wouldn't find something to love in Rebirth. The level of care and attention to detail when it comes to the characters and world is truly phenomenal and I thought personally that the ending was perfect but that's more of a love it or hate it situation.

The story at its core is still exactly the same. There's a lot of side content but you can ignore most of it or all of it if you wanted. I'd say if you ever get the time, from one FF7 fan to another, give it a fair shake!

Re: Despite Hype, Analyst Says Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth 'Underperforming'

Cloud39472

The silence from Square Enix isn't that surprising if you think about when they celebrated FF16's sales reaching 3 million, most articles were slamming it for being too low or even trying to paint it as a flop. Maybe they want to avoid the same situation? Though if that's the case, it's certainly not working 😅

It has sold 3 million at least though, I'd bet money on that.

Re: Poll: How Much Do You Care About 60fps on PS5?

Cloud39472

@Pat_trick It's a poll that is currently at 1000 votes out of like what, 50 million ps5 users? I don't think a poll on push square means diddly squat lol

That aside, I don't really care about framerate as long as it's consistently 30 or 60. My eyes adjust after a while either way.

Edit: I originally said 5 million when I should've said 50 million because I'm stupid.

Re: Japan Sales Charts: Dragon's Dogma 2, Rise of the Ronin Can't Beat Princess Peach

Cloud39472

@Doctor_BK They don't explain the nuance though. Not here and not in their FF articles either. If they did, they would mention that this is Japan and their numbers for games that aren't Nintendo or handheld have been on the decline for years and so their numbers are not indicative of the bigger picture and so to take it with a pinch of salt.

Instead they try to imply that these numbers show signs of disappointing sales which without Digital and without numbers from other countries is jumping to conclusions by a huge amount.

Re: Not Everyone Is in Love with Dragon's Dogma 2 on PS5

Cloud39472

Dragons Dogma 2 was bound to be divisive just like the first and now with a much bigger playerbase, it's just been even louder.

To me, what makes DD and DD2 fantastic is that their exploration, fun combat and sense of adventure is entirely unmatched by any other JRPG.

Oh and the games insane attention to small details and hidden areas and loot. There is just nothing quite like Dragon's Dogma and it feels like you either love it or hate it at this point.

Re: Japan Sales Charts: Dragon's Dogma 2, Rise of the Ronin Can't Beat Princess Peach

Cloud39472

@CrackmanNL I know, FF16 and Rebirth have both done very well but PushSquare keeps pushing the narrative that they're big flops or something.

Dragons Dogma 2's performance has been fine for me except in densely populated cities but in combat with multiple goblins, a minotaur, a griffin and spells popping off everywhere it still runs really smooth. Not 60fps smooth maybe but I honestly never cared about all the framerate discourse.

Re: Japan Sales Charts: Dragon's Dogma 2, Rise of the Ronin Can't Beat Princess Peach

Cloud39472

@Doctor_BK "In any case, these are merely decent figures. As always, it's important to note that these charts only count physical sales — but no one would blame you for thinking heavily marketed releases like Dragon's Dogma 2 and Rise of the Ronin should be doing a bit better for themselves."

And then
" Elsewhere, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth remains in the top ten, but with sales still slipping — it sold just 7,100 units last week — it's only a matter of time until it's gone."

" merely decent" "should be doing a bit better" "sold just 7100 units" all things said to make these games sound like they're doing poorly. Am I wrong? Push square has a track record of making these articles about game sales recently. Especially if it's a Square Enix game. They love those.

Re: Dragon's Dogma 2 Players Discover Working Trebuchets, Secret Areas

Cloud39472

@DennisReynolds Looks like I'm going to have to play as a thief now then! I wonder what things I've missed not knowing that, it's going to drive me crazy now... I wonder if having a Pawn with the same ability would have the same effect? I love how much depth Dragons Dogma has, really hope they continue to support it with DLC and such!

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Rise of the Ronin?

Cloud39472

I'll play it eventually, Rebirth and Dragons Dogma 2 are going to take a while then I'll be playing Baldurs Gate 3 and Stellar Blade... Then Granblue Fantasy and Like A Dragon... So maybe I'll get round to it once I'm old and retired.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Dragon's Dogma 2?

Cloud39472

Putting the MTX and dips in performance aside. This game is goated. Dragons Dogma is in my top 3 so there's no surprise I'd love the sequel. It's a shame that it's blown up for all the wrong reasons though, even if deserved.
