The reviews are written by existing Soulsborne fans who tend to sneer at other types of games and gamers. As such they're completely without any merit whatsoever.
Should only let people that don't like Soulsborne games to review this one, expect if that was the case we'd be seeing drastically different review scores.
Talk about preaching to the converted.
🙄
Should give God of War to people that only like Fortnite. BotW 2 to those that hate Nintendo. Call of Duty to people that prefer indie games especially if they involve lots of pretentious gameplay and has 'feelings'.
How hard is it? Is it for Soulsborne veterans only or have they accommodated other gamers in its design?
Not that I'd be picking it up anytime soon, already have HFW and Cyberpunk on the go with GT 7 out next week. Worth a punt when it's a lot cheaper or steer clear?
Not interested in the PS4 version, played the demo last week and liked it enough to spend £20 on the full game on PS5. Despite HFW coming out, I've still been spending time in Night City as a Corpo and am enjoying it.
The streets and roads still feel quite empty to me (GTA V it most certainly ain't) but appreciate it for what it is and I think it's s good game, just not the Second Coming that many hoped it would be.
I hope they continue to support the game and look to tweak and improve it further, along with new DLC.
Oh and whilst online isn't my bag, I think the MP plans have enormous potential. Night City would be a fun place to join a gang, plan some heists, have some shoot-outs and the character customisation could lead to some very 'inventive' creations.
😉
Well done CDPR, now bring on The Witcher 3 for PS5 and then The Witcher 4!
@Medic_Alert Jesus mate, you playing a different game from me or something?
Did you like the first one? If you did I can't see how you can't be enjoying Forbidden West. Maybe your expectations were too high.
It's the same but bigger with better graphics and writing and new machines. It was never going to reinvent the wheel because it didn't have to. I've had no major technical issues and traversal is fine. I think people just like to nit-pick over every little detail nowadays and are never happy.
Did Halo Infinite receive a deluge of bad reviews from Sony 'fanboys'?
Forza Horizon?
I don't recall this happening, not significantly enough to be news.
And now, SIGH, some on here are bringing up The Last of Us Part II AGAIN. We get it, games with female leads that don't look like supermodels are always going to bother some folks. People like this should be ignored as they're clearly morons.
HFW is a good game (only 7 hours in) that I'm sure will blossom into a very good if not great one. Just like Zero Dawn.
I bought the PS5 disc, around £61 and yeah probably down to the label on the box and a quicker & simpler download. I'll probably pay the same for GT 7 as well.
😂
As long as Sony give you a choice, what's the big deal? Probably the sooner they stop making games for the PS4 the better. I don't see £70 games going away anytime soon, but if you shop around physically you'll be able to buy any game for cheaper. Seems the digital lot are most inconvenienced but they don't have to worry about the postie delivering their disc in time.
Not interested, sandwiched as it is between Horizon Forbidden West and Gran Turismo 7. Two Sony games that require our support. 😉
I wonder if anyone will even buy it on Xbox though, probably waiting for it to hit Game Pass...in 2024.
Maybe I'll take the plunge myself at some point, when it's really cheap. Half-price or lower, at a price that I'm comfortable with giving it a try at least and see if it's worthwhile my sticking with it. I'm sure it's going to be a good game, but I hear Soulsborne and Soulslike and I shudder. These games aren't my cup of tea BUT for gift someone bought me Demon's Souls so I'll give that a go, see how far I get and it it gets too annoying I'll trade it in for something more enjoyable.
@Korgon Yeah I think I'll juggle between Horizon and Cyberpunk for a while, at least until HFW really digs it's claws into me as it's wont to do.
😉
I'm not interested in Elden Ring (for now anyway) so at least I don't have that problem lol BUT GT 7 is coming soon and I'm definitely going to buy that as well.
Nice problems to have plus the existing games in my backlog like Guardians of the Galaxy, Judgement and Demon's Souls (someone bought it for me as a gift, not sure why!). I'm set for nearly all of 2022 with that 'little' lot!
I'm optimistic that God of War Ragnarok will be released this year and I'm really keen on Stray so I'm sure I'll end up adding to my growing library of games.
Well I would be playing HFW but it wasn't delivered yesterday and suspect it wont be today either. 😟
Just as well then that I bought Cyberpunk after playing the demo and have Planet Coaster as well.
In the CP demo I started as a street kid but then started s proper playthrough as a corpo. Turns out that it's not that different lol, so far anyway but I think it's a pretty good game, just need to temper one's expectations. It didn't look great through either mode but turned off motion blur in Performance mode and I'm happier with it.
Planet Coaster is a good chill out game. Have been tackling all the career challenges, some are quite difficult really. I can see myself dipping in and out of this game for a good few months to come.
Enjoy Forbidden West folks and anything else you're playing.
Purchased it last night after playing the demo. With HFW not being delivered today (and doubtful it will be tomorrow either now), I guess I'll be playing even more of Cyberpunk than I had expected.
It doesn't feel 'next gen', more like a PS4 game released in 2018.
I'll have to make do with Planet Coaster and Cyberpunk 2077 until tomorrow... hopefully tomorrow anyway as it would be really disappointing to have to wait until after the weekend.
One of the problems with ordering physical online, no guarantees and of course the storm doesn't help.
I am currently playing the demo but even with a certain title on the Horizon, I do plan on buying the PS5 version and getting really stuck into it at a later date.
I haven't been blown away by what little I have played but I can see it's potential, just need to set realistic expectations.
I was hoping to give the PS5 version a go and appreciate the free trial but the timing could've been better. Still, maybe I'll end up getting suckered into Night City and not even want to play anything else.
@RaZieLDaNtE I'll definitely be replaying The Witcher 3 on PS5, hoping to give Cyberpunk a go on the PS5 as well.
I imagine I'll enjoy pretty much every second of my HFW playthrough, will likely take my time with it and drink it all in. Just hope it will be delivered on Friday as planned otherwise it will be more Planet Coaster for me!
@TheArt Unless it turned out to be a complete mess, Forbidden West was always going to be a must play for many many millions of PS owners. Some reviews may be more slightly negative but I think it's fair to say that those are being written by people that didn't even like the first one.
What I loved about HZD was that it was pure escapism and wasn't afraid to have fun with its mad cap yet still scary premise. It sounds like they played it 'safe' to a certain extent with the sequel but in the process improved upon aspects from the first whilst still being very enjoyable to play.
Friday can't come soon enough, hopefully it will be delivered that day and I'll spend much of the weekend, and beyond, having a great time in the world of Horizon.
The story in the first game was fantastic, not sure what some people disliked about it but that's their loss.
I think if you liked or loved the first, you'll probably end up feeling the same way about the sequel. It doesn't sound like it's reinvented the wheel, but neither is it fair to say that it had to.
More of the same, with new machines, new enemies, old friends and even more beautiful to boot.
@Quintumply is it more complex than Gwent? I may be one of the few that didn't like that game, at least not as much as all the hype. Probably because I was ***** at it!
I much prefer Orlog from AC Valhalla, although that's one of the few things I do like in that game.
@Robocod Yeah, EG couldn't be seen to be 'wrong' about the first one so gave it to someone who clearly wasn't going to enjoy the sequel, just so they can continue to sneer at the series whilst overly-praising anything from Xbox and Nintendo.
I'm sure the Digital Foundry review will be a lot more interesting and fair. Any Sony open world game is slated on EG, were these same games (Horizon, Tsushima) released by Xbox well they'd be creaming their underwear.
What's the mini-game like? Does Nils make an appearance? How big is the map compared to the first one? What's the 3D Audio sound like?
On sound, the score was brilliant in HZD but then so was the audio design for the machines and interactions with the world like using the focus. Just as good in part? Even better and more refined?
This really does sound like a special game, made for fans of this first one and for those with an open mind. This is for sure the most gaming fun you can have in February and possibly beyond, hard to see any game being more enjoyable to play in 2022.
😝
Except for maybe Stray, I mean who doesn't want to play as a cat? Kurt Zouma maybe and that lady with the greyhounds but other than that, noone.
Even on a Review comment section for Horizon Forbidden West, there's still too much talk of Elden Ring. Cool your jets Soulsborne fans, let another game have it's time in the spotlight.
😉
Great review. Basically it improved upon some aspects (side quests, secondary characters) from the first whilst still being a lot of fun to play. The world remains beautiful yet dangerous, even more beautiful on PS5 and only the story is a slight downgrade on the first but that's to be expected imo.
Really, if you loved the first one than you're likely to enjoy the second just as much if not more so
If you didn't like the first game, than just like Eurogamer, you'll probably not be impressed with the sequel. If that's the case, it sucks to be you, but there are other games out there for you to play including something about a ring but not the One Ring, that's a different and much more rich fantasy world that many have tried to immitate but never match.
Got the disc on order, really looking forward to it and Friday can't come soon enough!
It's a fun game, certainly not better than Spider-Man though, Miles is a good lad and I'm looking forward to Spider-Man 2.
Not sure why though, but this news saddens me a little. Of all the great games they've made and it's MM that is up there with God of War and Spider-Man?
Hopefully Forbidden West will be a huge seller in the US and beat Miles, a new IP with a female lead that takes place in post-Apocalyptic America.
Be interested in seeing the best sellers in Europe. Probably not that different but hopefully different enough. I like to think we have more refined taste than our American friends.
Not much, Planet Coaster has been taking up my gaming time and will continue to do so until a copy of HFW is delivered.
Toyed with the idea of starting Guardians of the Galaxy whilst I wait for Horizon, but I didn't want to start anything I'll drop as soon as HFW boots up. Will leave that and others in my backlog for when I'm done with Aloy's second big adventure.
@StonyKL The TLoU sales include PS3 and PS4 copies. I suspect TLoU 2 is around the ten million mark, might climb higher when the PS5 DC is inevitably released but fall short of the first.
I think the sequel is even better but that's my opinion. I'm sure it's sold well enough and generated big profits for ND and Sony.
I'll be interesting to see the final sales for God of War. My suspicion is that despite all the port begging, there is only minimal gain from releasing PS 'exclusives' on PC and actually that long-term it damages the brand.
Hopefully one day Sony will wake up to this and try to be more like Nintendo in some aspects than Xbox.
As for HZD, it was the game that convinced me to go for the PS4 over Xbox One last gen and for that reason alone it will always have a place in my heart. It also helped me during a particularly difficult time in my life and, on top of that, it's a brilliant game and one I really enjoyed replaying last year.
I mean, with there being so many more PC gamers out there the PS4 numbers should be much smaller.
😉
Great effort from Guerilla Games, no it's not perfect BUT it's still brilliant and I am really looking forward to getting my hands on the Forbidden West next week.

GotY awards mean diddly squat, just like the Oscars.
Elden Ring can win it all, won't change my opinion that it's a game for snobs.

Re: Gran Turismo 7's PS5, PS4 Commercial Is Unsurprisingly Shiny
I'm not usually a big fan of driving games but for this one I'll make an exception.
It really does feel as if your PS5 games collection isn't complete unless you own a copy of GT 7.
I have HFW and Cyberpunk on the go but I'll still be getting this as soon it's released.
Then I might not need to buy another game until God of War comes out!

They shouldn't have upgraded the PS4 version for free and we wouldn't be having this conversation.
Some won't be happy until every game is FTP and stuffed full of MTXs and NFTs and Season Passes. Or cost max of £40 and last for five hours.
🙄
This article sucks.
Re: Horizon Forbidden West Is Getting Review Bombed on PS5, PS4 for No Reason
It's a really good game, more of the same with some tweaks is fine with me as I loved Zero Dawn.
Anyone that genuinely gave this game 0/10 is clearly an ***** and shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a console or PC.

How many on PS4 compared to PC?
I mean, with there being so many more PC gamers out there the PS4 numbers should be much smaller.
😉
Great effort from Guerilla Games, no it's not perfect BUT it's still brilliant and I am really looking forward to getting my hands on the Forbidden West next week.
