I sticking with AW2 as my top game but spent my break from work finally finishing this and Persona 5 Royal non stop. BG3 is such an unbelievable game man… cannot believe how it’s just prepared for 100000 different scenarios all the time and the level of choice mixed with the performances is once in a lifetime. I swear I’ll enjoy turn based games eventually!!
I would say in every conceivable way it should be AW2 but BG just hit so hard with even fairly casual gamers that it’s a lock. I finished about half and the combat put me to sleep but the story and VO were fantastic as well as the choice based mechanics.
Side note: I agree with some of the users above, AW2 is very buggy as well and that could really hold it back from all the award shows coming up.
Personally I think Diablo has had the same problem since 3, once you’ve played it for about 30 hours you’ve seen it. You can change classes or armor but it’s a constant min max grind fest where you just make the numbers go up.
It’s beautiful and plays like a dream but this thing having live service legs seems so off to me barring a traditional huge expansion with a new class or two.
I love we had HZD cooking and now this yet for some reason they cannot bring themselves to give everyone bloodborne. The internet has been screaming about it for years and even if From doesn’t want to do it I’m sure SOMEONE would.
We’re going to be talking about this in about 10 years as the dark time. No idea what Sony is thinking going this hard into live service and its hardly a surprise there has been struggle. 3 multiplayer or live service titles alone should be enough for anyone.
I love the idea of discovering the side content without a giant arrow pointing you towards it. Things like that make a game that is otherwise very paint by numbers have some element of surprise.
I usually hate anything with a traditional anime style but the demo sold me and the game was great. I will say based on the grind in the post game to get the platinum I’ve had my fill here though, maybe a few years down the road but the combat got so samey and spongey in the end.
@Simon_Fitzgerald Would you say it’s longer than the original base game? After the DLC was added the first was meaty but the vanilla experience could be finished in about 6-8 hours easily.
Anyone interested should definitely give this one a shot. Very original has some horrible moments but also some hysterical ones. Basically earthbound experienced through a horrible LSD trip at the end of the world.
Got a chance to meet this dude randomly, had watched and enjoyed some of his content during his mini war with Jason Schreier. Extremely cool and funny guy. He deserves this for pushing as long as he did.
I would say 8 is fair, game looks and plays great but it is packed with filler and I really should have saved the majority of the side content for the post game. The grind to 100 is going to be stupid and Uber Lilith is basically impossible post buff.
A lot of these aren’t as bad as I thought they would be but definitely some classic diablo grind in there. This seems WAY more attainable than Diablo 2’s list
Last Amnesia was just ok. The concept and gameplay they’ve shown is cool for this one so take your time, frictional is generally an excellent developer.
Just got the platinum over the weekend. I would say it’s a solid 8, it’s a little archaic in spots but it’s very funny and respects your time. The combat is fun and the flesh system can be downright gruesome it’s very cool stuff.
I would be thrilled if more games came out all killer no filler like this. I’ll admit the side content at the end wore out its welcome towards the very end of the back half but it was still very good fun.
I really don’t understand the obsession with service based games. How many have lasted and really at this point, how popular are the ones that did currently? Even things like Fortnite and Among Us had huge moments and have come down considerably (even though Fortnite is still a financial juggernaut)
Destiny 2 is having a full on revolt and we just saw the community at large nuke the new Suicide Squad game for all the GaaS elements. This stuff needs to go pronto it’s obviously not working for the industry.
If this one actually carry’s your progress over the the full release I’m on board but no way I’m playing those opening 3 hours just to do it again on release. Most of us will be doing that enough as it is.
@LiamCroft Logged in to say the same exact thing. I’d love to have it but considering it’s Mid April and we’re still looking at the same pre-rendered trailer pics from the game awards with zero media hype I’m doubting this one highly.
If you’re going to push it nearly a year there should be some really significant changes. If not… push it two years. I don’t think anyone will mind not shooting purple blobs for gear score even if it takes a little longer.
For me the only thing that matters is lag and price point. I’m a dad so sitting in front of the TV usually isn’t an option but when my girls are spacing out to Bluey I’d be fine with using something like this in my living room if it can handle 4K 60 FPS etc.
But to get the most out of this the price point would likely be intolerable so this comes off as VERY niche
The guy flat out admitted he isn’t an animator and tried getting help from the epic store. We all know they vet no one either as this has happened before
Non story, the dude trusted too much and he’s fixing it oh well.
I would say they’re all at least 7’s but after a few years to sit on it, Like a Dragon is a 10.
I generally can’t complete Yakuza games and don’t even love turn based combat but this thing stuck with me. The game is utterly bizarre in every way and somehow the characters are so awesome and it makes the battle system a blast. No clue why still but it’s a 10 for me dawg.
This was maybe the biggest gamble in gaming history and this proves it.
Either game pass puts everyone else out of business or it destroys the Xbox brand. Crazy how risky this whole platform is, almost have to respect the guts.
Live service just doesn’t work 90% of the time. I agree with @golem25 here you only need one and the rest will fade away but you’d be damaging those failures brand wise exponentially. They are always time eaters and people just don’t seem to want that right now.
The only thing I’m trying to keep in mind is Sony already owns Bungie so they have Destiny in the bag and it’s staying multiplat. So are these live service games or games with live service elements? Seems odd to want that many strictly GaaS going at once.
@Vovander Come on dude. We get that there’s some funding there (the Russian government has their hands in virtually every cookie jar) but I would be VERY scared to criticize the Russian hierarchy at this juncture.
I’m sure they’re well aware the place is run by complete psychopaths who can and will do anything to silence detractors, especially ones who have an opportunity to spread an anti war message outside of Russia.
This is a call to punish a developer who has the unfortunate circumstance of living under a dictatorship. Try to cut these people some slack. It would be totally different if they came out and supported the war.
I keep seeing this game compared more to Serious Sam than Bioshock. Definitely worried.
On the good side they kept noting Dark Souls as a major influence and you can see some of that rhythm in the combat. Fingers crossed this is as cool as it looks.

Re: 14 Games on the Way to PS Plus Extra, Premium Next Week
Wonderlands and RE2 are nice pulls but I can’t imagine too many people who wanted them haven’t played them already. Rest is kind of whatever…
Re: Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Previews Are Far from Positive
What a shocker. These live service games are a poison pill regardless of how good the studio is.
Maybe Sony should view this one as a cautionary tale…

Re: Game of the Year: #10 - Cocoon
10 is about right for this. I loved it for the very lite puzzling, bizarre ambiance and environmental storytelling.
This definitely isn’t for everyone but for a 5 hour plat it’s really tops. Highly recommended for anyone who that sounds even remotely good to.
Re: Poll: Was The Game Awards 2023 Worth Watching?
Show was solid some very crazy announcements.
I’m not a fan of Japanese gaming for the most part but if you are next year is a dream. Will say that metaphor game looks incredible though.
Re: PS Store's Game Awards Sale Brings Prices Down on PS5, PS4 Nominees and More
Damn I wanted to buy Cocoon today but looks like this sale hasn’t hit America. Holding out we get it at some point today…

Re: Ubisoft's XDefiant Fails PlayStation, Xbox Certification
There’s no chance they’re looking at trophy tracking or 50% of the games this year would have never been released.
Re: Rumour: Info on Immortals Fenyx Rising Sequel Will Make You Wish It Wasn't Cancelled
Modern Ubisoft has really changed. They went from releasing the same game 7 times a year to only once or twice a year.

Stumble Guys. Let’s just let that sink in for a sec.

@get2sammyb Fingers crossed man, this is the first game in years that would have to described as “delightful” would love to play it on the platform
Re: Patapon's Spiritual Successor Funded in Under an Hour
$527k for a console version seems like a 50/50. Love Patapon so much but it’s so niche. Hard to believe they get over a half million USD

Re: Why You Should Pay Attention to PS Plus' Tails of Iron on PS5, PS4
Great game though I don’t feel it was very difficult or “souls like” at all. Far easier than a from game or even hollow knight.
Quick 8 hour platinum that feels like a fleshed out Newgrounds RPG from way back
