Re: Game of the Year: #2 - Baldur's Gate 3

I sticking with AW2 as my top game but spent my break from work finally finishing this and Persona 5 Royal non stop. BG3 is such an unbelievable game man… cannot believe how it’s just prepared for 100000 different scenarios all the time and the level of choice mixed with the performances is once in a lifetime. I swear I’ll enjoy turn based games eventually!!

Re: Game of the Year: #10 - Cocoon

10 is about right for this. I loved it for the very lite puzzling, bizarre ambiance and environmental storytelling.

This definitely isn’t for everyone but for a 5 hour plat it’s really tops. Highly recommended for anyone who that sounds even remotely good to.

Re: Poll: What Will Win Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2023?

I would say in every conceivable way it should be AW2 but BG just hit so hard with even fairly casual gamers that it’s a lock. I finished about half and the combat put me to sleep but the story and VO were fantastic as well as the choice based mechanics.

Side note: I agree with some of the users above, AW2 is very buggy as well and that could really hold it back from all the award shows coming up.

Re: Poll: Do You Still Play Diablo 4?

Personally I think Diablo has had the same problem since 3, once you’ve played it for about 30 hours you’ve seen it. You can change classes or armor but it’s a constant min max grind fest where you just make the numbers go up.

It’s beautiful and plays like a dream but this thing having live service legs seems so off to me barring a traditional huge expansion with a new class or two.

I love we had HZD cooking and now this yet for some reason they cannot bring themselves to give everyone bloodborne. The internet has been screaming about it for years and even if From doesn’t want to do it I’m sure SOMEONE would.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Diablo 4?

I would say 8 is fair, game looks and plays great but it is packed with filler and I really should have saved the majority of the side content for the post game. The grind to 100 is going to be stupid and Uber Lilith is basically impossible post buff.

Just got the platinum over the weekend. I would say it’s a solid 8, it’s a little archaic in spots but it’s very funny and respects your time. The combat is fun and the flesh system can be downright gruesome it’s very cool stuff.

I would be thrilled if more games came out all killer no filler like this. I’ll admit the side content at the end wore out its welcome towards the very end of the back half but it was still very good fun.

Re: A Future Dominated By Service Games Would Be 'Boring', Says PlayStation's Shuhei Yoshida

I really don’t understand the obsession with service based games. How many have lasted and really at this point, how popular are the ones that did currently? Even things like Fortnite and Among Us had huge moments and have come down considerably (even though Fortnite is still a financial juggernaut)

Destiny 2 is having a full on revolt and we just saw the community at large nuke the new Suicide Squad game for all the GaaS elements. This stuff needs to go pronto it’s obviously not working for the industry.

Re: Alan Wake 2 Is Still on Track for 2023 Release on PS5

@LiamCroft Logged in to say the same exact thing. I’d love to have it but considering it’s Mid April and we’re still looking at the same pre-rendered trailer pics from the game awards with zero media hype I’m doubting this one highly.

Re: Talking Point: Would You Care About a PS5 Remote Play Handheld?

For me the only thing that matters is lag and price point. I’m a dad so sitting in front of the TV usually isn’t an option but when my girls are spacing out to Bluey I’d be fine with using something like this in my living room if it can handle 4K 60 FPS etc.

But to get the most out of this the price point would likely be intolerable so this comes off as VERY niche

Re: Poll: Help Us Rank the Yakuza / Like a Dragon Games

I would say they’re all at least 7’s but after a few years to sit on it, Like a Dragon is a 10.

I generally can’t complete Yakuza games and don’t even love turn based combat but this thing stuck with me. The game is utterly bizarre in every way and somehow the characters are so awesome and it makes the battle system a blast. No clue why still but it’s a 10 for me dawg.

Re: Talking Point: Should Sony Be Worried by Live Service Implosion?

Colour

Live service just doesn’t work 90% of the time. I agree with @golem25 here you only need one and the rest will fade away but you’d be damaging those failures brand wise exponentially. They are always time eaters and people just don’t seem to want that right now.

The only thing I’m trying to keep in mind is Sony already owns Bungie so they have Destiny in the bag and it’s staying multiplat. So are these live service games or games with live service elements? Seems odd to want that many strictly GaaS going at once.

Re: Mental PS5, PS4 FPS Atomic Heart Goes Gold Ahead of February Release Date

@Vovander Come on dude. We get that there’s some funding there (the Russian government has their hands in virtually every cookie jar) but I would be VERY scared to criticize the Russian hierarchy at this juncture.

I’m sure they’re well aware the place is run by complete psychopaths who can and will do anything to silence detractors, especially ones who have an opportunity to spread an anti war message outside of Russia.

This is a call to punish a developer who has the unfortunate circumstance of living under a dictatorship. Try to cut these people some slack. It would be totally different if they came out and supported the war.
