Or here’s an absurd idea… show the game to your buyers sooner. The art direction was roasted the moment everyone saw it and you likely would have seen the writing on the wall if anyone knew anything about the game. We didn’t even know what kind of live service this was until way too close to release.
Whether Sony likes it or not they’re in sales and these days people clearly aren’t going to blindly buy whatever you’re making. You need to SELL it first.
Loved every second of this game. Between this and Wukong the last few months have been insane. Can’t wait to start Metphor and Dragon Age, this year really turned it around after some dead zones.
Just finished this 100% today. GOTY hands down these devs did an excellent job across the board. Long without being repetitive, tons of enemy variety, everything you do is rewarding etc. on top of maybe the best combat system of this generation.
The story is so muddy at this point but hopefully the team aren’t weirdos because the future is extremely bright for these guys.
This was a good not great game. Origins is better in virtually every way but inquisition gets a bad rap, it’s absolutely worth playing just way too much busy work.
I cannot play another one of these at 30 frames. Got onto kingdom come 1 late and loved it but the frame rate killed me, I felt like I was playing a BBC drama from 1992. Here’s hoping they have some visual options!!
@nessisonett I agree totally bonkers, I thought it was debunked too but now a bunch more people coming out. I think it MAY be fear of retribution on the developers part but definitely need to see how this plays out. The “feminist propaganda” is especially strange…
@atthegates I tell every human who has even a passing interest in horror games PLAY VISAGE AND DARKWOOD. Both of those games got pretty severely overlooked and they’re incredible. Visage has a few weaker points but the atmosphere is 10/10 all the way through and it’s such a blast to play. On PS5 worth every penny sale or not!!!
@WhiteRabbit Yes and Yes. Some of the jump scares really aren’t stuff that pops out at you either you turn around and something nasty is there that wasn’t a second ago it really messes with you.
Played this on PC last year, they did a great job with a very limited setting. Highly recommended for any fan of psychological horror games. Not quite the standard of Visage but very close.
First one is a very good game just a little janky in just about every department. Open world sequel with maybe some more STALKER lite mechanics could be amazing.
Man I would KILL for AvP and Cadillacs and Dinosaurs. Power Stone needs a proper modern day sequel, it’s the only game that rivals the chaos you can get from smash brothers
Looking at their entire resume this was a talented and ultimately strange studio. Sorry to the devs and hopefully some find their way back to some SIE studios.
@TheArt Diving back in after work this week. Really hope this is the time since capcom + gigantic monsters and weapons should be a dream for me. One more time can’t hurt!!
@Neither_scene @Unit_DTH After buying Rise for one last shot last year maybe I’ll go back and try to use more weapons and see if it clicks. People love this franchise so much it makes me want to get it but thus far… it hurts.
@Yagami I’m not having a hard time understanding anything it’s just too slow and tanky. Maybe I’m doing something wrong but it feels like playing earlier souls game where all the combat takes place standing still. I get why people love it just doesn’t work for my brain.
I know it’s heresy but I cannot get into these games anymore. The mechanics are so bad and obtuse, great sword video is stressing me out just watching!!
This game was boring and the standard borderlands formula is getting a little stale.
Plus, how could it not do better than the initial Borderlands?? It’s a household name at this point when the original launched it was a complete unknown. Sales speak makes no sense as always.
This is extremely weird. It’s like buying a Slayer album and being pissed it doesn’t sound like The Beatles can’t understand the arguments I’ve read.
Been playing for about 15 hours total since Friday and I wouldn’t say this is on the level of old hunters or ringed city plus you still have mimic tear just stop. For the record I have 2 kids and get maybe 25 hours a week to game late nights. I’m no expert.
Thank god Ubi is getting the message with an IP this big. 200 hours is such a massive commitment for many adults these days and I know I sure as hell don’t have the time.
Hope this turns out good, people I trust have liked it but obviously there’s plenty of others who didn’t. Someone outside of respawn needs to help save Star Wars.
Loved the demo almost had a souls lite feel but a good amount of strategy as well. Story and enemy design are just weird enough where it justifies a purchase.
I really don’t feel like the base PS5 is that far behind in the tech department. We all know for damn sure it’s not as far behind as the PS4 was at this point in the generation.
Devs (like maybe capcom) need to work on optimizing their games for current hardware now that we finally slowed down shipping every imaginable title to the last generation. If a game like Dogma shipped 6 months from now I can’t imagine anyone would have cared enough to not buy it.
I agree with a lot of people on here, played Starfield and after they supposedly put everything they had into that… I think they’re a dated developer.
If that was supposed to be the next step forward I think the industry has passed them by and we’re talking about a relic game when it launches. They would need an entirely new engine just to start improving.
Really want to buy this but need to see how it runs before dropping 40 bucks. These games have been upscaled to 60fps on PC forever so if this is locked 30 like the trailer looks that kind of stinks.
@TheCollector316 Yeah I totally agree. Can’t get away from the cinematic super games they’re known for but some of these smaller studios are needed for the interstitial games. Helldivers is clearly paying off huge.
This would be a smart (and likely cheap) investment for someone like Sony. Borderlands still has tons of potential and name recognition but has definitely gotten stale over the last few entries.
Someone like Sony could make those games for far less money than say a god of war or last of us style production and use some outside talent to help change up the formula.
I absolutely love everything about this game but I gave it a 9. My only gripe is it’s TOO big. As stupid as that sounds running into more and more sh*t in this game is giving me anxiety lol.
Kudos to RGG and sega as always what a crazy complaint to have with something of this quality.
@Nepp67 They just took a very heavy topic and made b roll cheese out of it. Hopefully Konami will continue to outsource this stuff, no more of this with the SH name in it please lol
Played it with a friend for maybe 45 minutes just now and what I played was a lot of fun. Only tried king shark but I’m stunned by how well it handles.
Don’t get me wrong this is dumb fun at its finest but it’s very pretty and plays fairly well. Waiting for a sale later but I figured it would be WAY worse.
@ShogunRok Agreed and sometimes you need the firm hand on any business but, unfortunately, hype is what keeps you top of mind. Really hoping to peel the curtain back this year!!
@ShogunRok GREAT article man this was super well written. Agree with every single point.
Here’s hoping the next CEO takes a page out of Laydens book. He wasn’t perfect but there was so much transparency and we actually got what we wanted a lot of the time, that was pivotal in building them into the giant they are now. I think almost everything else on the list will come with that.

Re: Ubisoft Disbands Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown Team After Poor Sales, Claims Report
Ubi disbands the team that made their most playable game in a decade. That tracks.

Re: PS5 RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Looks Bloody Brilliant in Full 25 Minutes of Gameplay
@JB_Whiting Yeah it definitely is, question I have is are we seeing PS5 or PC. Original ran at 60 and looked like a dream on PC as well…

Yeah this looks incredible. That’s a really good amount of gameplay and not to be a total cynic… but why are we seeing none of the open world stuff?

@themightyant This.

Re: Site News: Where's Our Black Myth: Wukong PS5 Review?
Already seeing massive technical issues with this game. And these are from people using fully kitted rig PC’s that could handle anything.
Very excited for this game but I think it’s safe to say this is likely a cyberpunk situation, wait a few months before purchasing.

@Logonogo This is exactly how I feel. Love the aesthetic and monster/weapon design but I play for a couple hours and start nodding off

Re: Capcom Now Considers Dragon's Dogma a 'Key Brand' Following Substantial Sales
Love this game but if it’s so important please fix the frame rate. Game still runs like sh*t even with the ray tracing and everything turned off.
