Re: The Order: 1886 Dev Ready at Dawn to Close After VR Stint

Deoxyr1bose

It’s unfortunate that their legacy is just Order 1886 in many people’s eyes. The PSP games they worked on seemed actually pretty fun and well received. I’m surprised they accepted being bought out by Meta in the first place considering how nearly everything gaming they’ve done has flopped. It sucks that talent like this has been constantly thrown to the side this year, and I hope everyone impacted lands on their feet.

Re: Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Studio Really Will Try and Port the Game to PS4

Deoxyr1bose

This is what happens when we’ve reached a sort of technological plateau with specs and graphics. The PS5 generation has undoubtedly been my least favorite that I’ve lived through. Development timelines have slowed to a crawl, there have been unprecedented economic motivated decisions that have not only affected players but also developers, there are barely any exclusives for the current generation. Jedi Survivor was like one of the few current gen exclusives. I’m not saying more people shouldn’t play it, I’m saying that my $500 investment into a PS5 is feeling very lacking. I don’t see how the PS6 improves this problem at all and I don’t foresee myself getting one.

Re: Mortal Kombat 1 Adds Outrageous Animalities, Massive Story Campaign, and Much More

Deoxyr1bose

I’m sorry these guest characters are so lame. Mortal Kombat DLC has become allergic to actual Mortal Kombat characters and is just trying to gain new players attention even tho so many of the guests characters are just characters from 20+ year old movies. Add some gaming characters or something, make new MK characters instead of just rebooting the old one. So many guest characters makes it not special anymore.

Re: Concord's Seemingly Unlimited Promo Budget Now Includes Animated Shorts

Deoxyr1bose

If we extrapolate the beta numbers to the official release, then genuinely this might be one of the biggest Sony gaming bombs they’ve put out in a while. Returnal didn’t sell amazing but Sony didn’t own Housemarq at that time and the budget shouldn’t have been that huge. Sackboy and Destruction All Stars didn’t sell great either but those were obviously lower budget. Concord getting all this promotion + weekly cinematics + recurring development spend due to its live service nature, it has to cost a pretty penny. Microtransactions cant help this game if it doesn’t have an audience in the first place. Maybe when reviews drop things will pick up steam, but at this rate I don’t see how this isn’t a financial disaster like Suicide Squad was.

Re: Feature: The 10 Best PS5 Games of 2024 So Far

Deoxyr1bose

Did we, as a society, really deem Stellar Blade as the 2nd best game on PS5 so far this year? Idk I might just be a cynic but it really feels like a lot of people go “that game is a 3rd person action adventure game therefore it is good”. Theres been so much good and inventive stuff this year so its disappointing to see something that’s so blatantly NieR and Sekiro be that high up

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Essential Games for June 2024?

Deoxyr1bose

Unironically really happy with this lineup. Yeah the overall value of these games aren’t the greatest, but I’ve been meaning to play Streets of Rage 4 and Cosmic Shake for a long while. It’s one of the few months this year I’m gonna download and care about more than one game, and that’s why its a success for me.

Re: PS5, PC Fans Are Trying to Figure Out if Concord Is Free-to-Play

Deoxyr1bose

@Shad361 Do you think Mr. John McGee who plays only a couple games will leave something like Fortnite or CoD or Overwatch to play Concord, especially when it isn’t free to play? They’re gonna need to knock it out of the park ten fold and back if they want even a bit of hope of forcing casuals off of games like Fortnite.

Re: PS5, PC Fans Are Trying to Figure Out if Concord Is Free-to-Play

Deoxyr1bose

Idk man stuff like Fairgame$ and now this just feels so far removed from what Sony fans want. The writing style is so weird. You can’t really appeal to PS fans with these games cuz they normally like grandiose single player games or unique smaller titles like the older days. Ideally something like Helldivers would happen where they attract a new fanbase, but will people really play another hero shooter?

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Sony's State of Play for May 2024?

Deoxyr1bose

Astro Bot is peak but yeah that was pretty bad. I know people are saying “it’s just a SoP, what did you expect.” But not only has there been a ton of great SoPs (June 2022 and Sep 2022 especially), but you can’t ignore the context of the PS5 exclusive lineup being dire and first party output being incredibly dark.

Re: Team Ninja Reveals Rise of the Ronin's Links to Nioh, Ninja Gaiden

Deoxyr1bose

Unrelated (kinda), but I feel like it’s time for a new Ninja Gaiden game. Everyone, including Team Ninja, have largely just been making Soulslikes and adopting Souls or Sekiro style of combat. We need more character action games like Ninja Gaiden. We have DMC which hasn’t had an entry in 5 years, Bayonetta which has a rocky future, and Hi-Fi Rush which just had its studio shut down.

Re: Sony Sets Sights on Ruling the Anime World

Deoxyr1bose

I do think them having essentially a monopoly on anime in the west is incredibly concerning. Even tho people had issues with both Crunchyroll and Funimation, at least them being two separate options gave some semblance of competition. Now Sony has no formal competition.

Re: Feature: Revisiting PlayStation Showcase 2023, an Event Sony Must Improve Upon

Deoxyr1bose

Ghost of Tsushima 2. They could announce they’re cancelling every game in existence and are going to wage a war with Nintendo and I would still be happy if they announce Ghost of Tsushima 2. It’s been 4 years since it launched, that feels appropriate to start hearing info on the sequel, especially considering Insomniac gave Spider-Man 2 info 3 years after the first one came out and that was with Ratchet and Clank and Miles Morales. With the steam port becoming Sony’s second biggest PC release, it’s perfect timing.

Re: Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 Dev Ninja Theory's Next Game Has Reportedly Been Greenlit

Deoxyr1bose

You still gotta imagine how this game is gonna sell. The day before it comes out it’s the 15th best selling game on Steam. The original was a PS console exclusive for a decent period of time so there’s definitely a sizeable people who were fans of the original who can’t play this one. It’ll probably get a lot of players on Gamepass but I can’t see how this would make its money back. Maybe the budget wasn’t that high but it’s been in development since at least 2019.

Re: Poll: Years Later, How Do You Feel About PlayStation's PC Strategy?

Deoxyr1bose

I think their current system is great. Singleplayer games on PC about 2-3 years later, and live service games also on PC day one. I care less about the value of my PS5 and the value of the PlayStation brand compared to good experiences, so if these PC ports help increase revenue for better sequels then I can’t complain.

Re: More Xbox Layoffs Reportedly Inbound as Company Attempts to Cut Costs

Deoxyr1bose

I mean this with the least amount of hyperbole possible, I feel like we’re about to enter the lowest point for Xbox if we’re not already there. This is 2013 Xbox levels of bad. Developers don’t like them after their mass layoffs and butchering of talent, general consumers just don’t really care for them, Xbox fans are mad at them for getting rid of the promise of exclusives as well as shutting down studios that they spent billions on, gaming media don’t like them because of how corporate and contradicting their language is, the government doesn’t like them because of their insane consolidation effort. All the while Xbox sales are incredibly poor and the Gamepass model is at its tipping point. The Xbox we all wanted and hoped for is long dead.

Re: Rumour: Hi-Fi Rush Dev Was Pitching Sequel Before Microsoft Closed It Down

Deoxyr1bose

In the podcast where Phil Spencer revealed that 4 games were going multiplatform, one of the reasons he explicitly stated was that by expanding consoles, the fanbase would expand to where they could capitalize on it by making sequels and follow ups. A Hi-Fi Rush 2 would have matched their explicitly stated plans. Genuinely baffled about how they shifted from this to the nuclear option of closing them down in just 4 months. Theres almost no value in what an Xbox executive says anymore.

Re: Helldivers 2 PSN Requirement Backtracked After Brutal Review Bombing Campaign

Deoxyr1bose

This is why everyone being vocal ultimately matters. Yes, it was annoying with everyone doing a mass 180 on this game for something that’s so common for console gamers. But this shows that Sony is a company that is willing to roll things back if the line gets too far pushed. I know the account creation isn’t a big deal but the delisting in a ton of countries is. Let’s just hope everyone reverts their steam review scores now.

Re: PS4 Classic Horizon Zero Dawn Set to Leave PS Plus Extra

Deoxyr1bose

I would like some kind of just simple touch up remaster

I do not want a full remake. It would straight up be a waste to remake a game like that when the tech between the PS4 and PS5 isn’t that big and the visuals for Horizon still largely hold up. It would just be creative bankruptcy on Sony’s part if that’s what they remake instead of dormant but popular IP.

Re: EA Japan Exec Criticises Rating Board for Apparrent Stellar Blade Special Treatment

Deoxyr1bose

Ratings boards have always had weird biases. Like when lootboxes were big in like the late 2010s I remember the ESRB made a statement trying to justify it in E rated sports games saying it was far from gambling despite advertisements using a lot of gambling imagery and techniques. I don’t think if the dismemberment in Stellar Blade is near Dead Space, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there was some kind of bias.
