8, Best final fantasy game huh?

As always, completionists are a screwed up lot.

Maybe once it drops to 20-30 bucks, no way I'll pay full price for it judging from the demo.

I'd also REALLY love to see an option to disable the party banter as you're playing because good god did it get annoying.

Huh? Is this an actual release or is it just one of those stream only games? I haven't heard a peep aboth them rereleasing this.

Nah, I got a solid 20 hours out of the base game and I feel like I got my fill.

The combination of length and high challenge isn't really my ideal of a good time.

And the lack of music in these games is always gonna bother me.

It finally gave the series the generational leap that I really wasn't getting from 7. The fighting feels buttery smooth, it looks so good, the load times are lightning fast, the online works fantastic, it has a relatively strong (and large) starting roster.

The customization features do feel a bit gutted, I still could do without the rage super moves and team battles are still missing for whatever reason but it is nonetheless a net positive for sure.

I'm gonna say it's a 9/10, quite possibly the best Tekken.

Had a banger of a time with this one already playing with my friends, Tekken has never felt quite this good. The audio visual leap from the last installement is gigantic, every character's just oozing with personality.

Here I thought they were admitting to releasing it in a half-baked state

Nasty difficulty spikes? I mean maybe you can make a case for that in the earlier versions but this pixel remaster gives you like 4x exp compared to the earlier versions, it's so easy to the point where I feel it makes the entire game feel pointless.

I think I got 4 on steam, probably my least favorite game of the bunch but it's the only I've never fully completed (mostly because like a idiot I thought it was a good idea to play 4 right after I had finished 3 before).

Donno If I'm really in the mood for 3 and even if I was I think I'd prefer to play the FES version instead.

The super moves killed Tekken for me, I don't care about online or any of that stuff, I just want a good old fashioned offline brawl with my friends to not involve those, is that really too much to ask as an option? Team Battles too, why are those gone?

Considering this one, I have it only on Wii U which is not... optimal. I kind of liked it and I guess kind of in a mood for a decent musou game so if they did release this maybe I'd go for it.

That's a big oof for such a classic soundtrack, the remixes better be pretty goshdarn good.

And honestly even if the remixes are good, the originals just being there as as options makes it way easier to appreciate the new takes as well when you can check out how both versions sound.

Yeah, it was an amazing spinoff. I had quite many hours on that playing against family & friends. Single player content and just the sheer amount of stuff on it was on point.

Well it does seem like there is only one version of any given game here so I figure I'm just gonna ignore any and all version specific gripes and just assume I'm playing the optimal version instead.

I mean V is my favorite in the series but the PS1 version is kind of garbo for that. Hmm...

I would also consider giving it to the PS1 version of FF Tactics but that doesn't seem to be here for whatever reason.

Yeah, I figured this was going to be a stinker.

The total lack of any impact and lackluster to non-existant sound effects is usually pretty telling of an unprofessional effort.

Been on a vacation this week so I wanted to start a longer game which ended up being Suikoden 3. Been making some nice progress about 30 hours in now I believe and am almost done with each characters' chapter 2. It's no Suikoden 2 but I really have enjoyed this one nonetheless.

Though I've also been getting some minor RPG Maker itch so I'm thinking of making some kind of ***** post for my friends, wish I had time for something more substantial but you know...

I tried the demo and while I was kind of surprised to see that my laptop can actually run that thing with what seemed like near-full settings the gameplay itself didn't really wow me, I'm not really keen on RPG gameplay systems that remove the classic MP formula to begin with and for the purposes of the demo trying to learn the game is kind of tricky with 3 computers messing about, it's just a total sensory overload.

I'm hardly the biggest Tales fan to begin with but I think those ones felt a bit more comprehensive compared to this one.

Maybe I'll consider it years on the line and give the demo another shot after it gets a severe discount but for now I'm not into it.

I think it looks neat, I've played SR3 and 4 and I personally enjoy this series for the crazy stupidity and sandbox mayhem.

I'm not too concerned about the setting itself personally.

Pretty neat design I gotta say. It's always cool to see overweight character that go for things other than the standard fat/disgust jokes.

Still going to wait for the game to build-up and release the inevitable "+" release before I bite.

I liked it, quite a lot in fact when I first played it. Though the thing about Persona (3-5 at least) is that they're extremely reliant on its story & dialogue for entertainment, meaning that its extremely ill suited for a replay. Ultimately without the story & cutscenes to support it, it's just a mindless dungeon crawler with very little flavor coupled with the "free time" aspect which feels more like a chore (which to be fair, I felt even on the first playthrough).

I like it, it's something to look forward to.

I'm not really sure what I'm expecting but I guess just the prospect of the event taking place and there being some kind of announcements in itself is exciting.

From my point of view there hasn't really been much of anything happening for the entire year so far so it is kind of nice to finally get something even if ultimately it'll just end up being more disappoinment.

Well the modern RPGs are turning into action games so I guess it's only fair that there is at least one case of the opposite happening for once.

Though I definitely feel for the fans of the original style who might not like the new direction.

I'll buy it at some point on steam, game does look pretty decent.

Though like so many modern games I fear it's going to be a bit too much like a movie for me.

The series lost me pretty quick, the first game was a platforming/action masterpiece and the 2nd game was kind of fine too but after that I feel it strayed into more of a shooter focus and then as I found when I borrowed my friend's copy of Tools of Destruction on the PS3 the story and character direction has lost all its edge, I think the gameplay also suffered for how it feels more like you're playing a story rather than the story being there to enrich the gameplay.

From the trailers I've seen of this, this one seems very much the same.

Resident Evil 4 is my favorite and about as good as an action game can get but it always makes me sad to see the OG Resident Evil 1 get ignored, I stand by that its the best classic style Resident Evil, many of the changes in the remake just make it feel more tedious.

Well they sure pulled one on me, I just spent a good 200 bucks a few weeks ago for the sake of getting the stuff I still wanted from the store, good on you Sony, good on you.

But nonetheless I'm happy that the store stays for now, the PS1 & PS2 offerings in there are quite decent and imho make the PS3 very much worth owning still.

Just spent a good 200 bucks to hopefully get everything I was missing and hopefully not have any regrets left afterwards.

Obviously the PS1/PS2 titles are the biggest thing but there's also the Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection port which is the only way to play that version on the big screen.

Tekken Tag 2 (AKA still the best Tekken) also would be left missing characters if you don't dl those.

It does make me wonder if games can still download updates once the store is kaput at least, I'd imagine a lot of games will be left in quite a sorry state if they cannot do that.

It's such a shame, going to buy some points and see that I have everything I want for sure, going to finally get the Xenogears I've been missing for ages, probably a ton of PS2 games as well that appeared while I was not looking.

PS3's strength lies in its catalogue of classic games and ports, honestly I don't think its own library is all that good.

But if I had to pick my favorite game on the system it'd be Scott Pilgrim Vs The World or King of Fighters XIII

I've been playing this on the Switch uptill now, but I couldn't wait for the update so I decided to move onto playing the Steam version, just got a good 5 hours of play time in.

In a way it kinda sucks to lose all the progress I made in the Switch version but at the same time the prospect of starting on an clean slate is also kind of exciting.

God this is lame... Gotta double check and make sure I got all those awesome PS1 games, I believe I'm still missing Xenogears at the very least.

I wish Sony at least had the decency to transport that stuff on their new consoles, that'd actually be something that'd make PS5 a bit more worth considering.

Sometimes I replay games (mainly old favorites) but it has certainly lessened overall.

Back when I was younger I could only get so many games a year so I had to play the same games over and over. These days I'm only limited by time (and sometimes just wanting to do other stuff)

I enjoy having a basically infinite backlog of games, even if a lot of new games aren't really doing it for me as much anymore it seems like there is basically an endless suply of obscure JRPGs and stuff on systems like the SNES, PS1, PS2, DS & PC just today I found out about a game called Stella Deus on the PS2 and that one looks like I would really like

There is a point to having larger worlds in certain sorts of games, but there does need to be a good balance to it all.

Definitely interested, I like the two Yakuza games I played (3 & 4) and I do love my RPGs.

So much stuff to play though, so little time.

Otherwise it looks fine, but the battle system still looks like some gimmicky trash as far as I can tell. And being on mobile and what that usually pertains is obviously bad.

Right... So what about those of us who want the RPG "gameplay".

The storylines are not what made me love this series and it certainly wasn't the high octane action. This series is so lost.

I was half expecting that art of hers to be flipping me off. Really like the music here.

That's great! Last year was packed with great games and this one was definitely a highlight.

Now it just looks like one of those awkward attempts at trying to do 3D on the GBA. Just lower the framerates to around 5-10 frames per second and its perfect.

You do know that there is an actual Suikoden 3? 4 and 5 as well.

What need is there for a remaster when the game still holds up so well? I barely ever like games in this Devil May Cry style "stylish" action game genre but this game managed to win me over so much, the soundtrack is so good.

I'd rather see a sequel than a remaster myself.

Nope, don't have one and at the moment I see zero reason on why I would want one. Needs exclusive RPGs, SRPGs and Fighting games before I start to care in any sort of way.

I really wish clear systems were still a thing, or controllers at the very least, I think they do have a weird charm to them...

I'd love to see them port the OG Resident Evil 1 for once, I honestly find that version a lot more fun to play than the remake.

I think It's finally time for Phantasy Star 5.
