Re: PS5 Fans Divided on PlayStation Portal Handheld

Futureshark

Just wanted to point out that you don't need to stick to just playing on your home WiFi network, just need to join any WiFi that has greater then 15Mbps ideally.

From the FAQs at
https://www.playstation.com/en-us/accessories/playstation-portal-remote-player/

Can PlayStation Portal™ Remote Player only be played on my home Wi-Fi network?

While your home Wi-Fi network represents a great option to use PlayStation Portal™ Remote Player because you have control over the quality of your own home Wi-Fi, it is not required. PlayStation Portal™ Remote Player can also be played wherever you have access to broadband internet Wi-Fi with at least 5Mbps for use1. For a better play experience, a high-speed connection of at least 15Mbps is recommended. If you are using public Wi-Fi, be aware that the quality of the internet connection may be out of your control, and could impact the quality of your play experience.

Re: PS Plus, Xbox Game Pass Spending Has Completely Plateaued in USA

@Powerplay94
I'm sure those awful marketing people will call it something like 'Day One -5' or some other cynical way of justification.

Subscription fatigue - there it is. Every man and his dog has tried to get on the subscription band wagon, too many of them now and all the content is now completely diluted by 'fodder'.
You just need to watch any recent episode of Dragons Den (AKA Shark Tank to our US friends) and all the pitches their usually mention subscription to the customers.

Who knows what the answer is but once plateaued, that means no more new subs so new money can only be made by increasing the price, as seen recently by both Netflix and Disney+.

Re: Poll: Are You Sold on PlayStation Portal?

Found my answer from the official FAQS.
Looks like it'll work on any WiFi, not just home one.

Re: Larian Studios CEO Responds to 'Raised Standards' Concerns: 'Standards Die Every Day'

Futureshark

"It's been causing other developers no end of anxiety, with lots of pre-emptive sandbagging being done over the last month in an attempt to brand the game as an anomaly, that gamers shouldn't expect this "raised standard" moving forward."

Two words - Bethesda, Starfield

Also (after reading the tweet, or 'X'), saying BG3 is an anomaly is like saying the moon landing was an anomaly.
Just something that happened and can't be expected to be repeated, so just enjoy what you saw and move along.
Of course, ignore all the knowledge, expertise and advancement created from doing the moon landing in the first place.
Keep standards low and expect little seems to be the message, as a consumer I want more and tech to be pushed.

Re: Devil May Cry's Hideki Kamiya Says Japanese Devs Should Be 'Proud' of the Term JRPG

Futureshark

Not too keen on 'Boomer Shooter', it sounds ageist and also elitist, like only Boomers can or should play/like it.

RPG from Japan, JRPG! Does exactly what it says on the tin.
Lets not forget Japan has one of (if not the highest) output of videogames for a country, so I think they can rightly have a genre named after themselves.

WRPG I think is a bit reactionary and unnecessary.
It's either a JRPG or a RPG. That's also not to say that other countries can't make JRPGs, or RPGs in the style of a Japanese RPG.

God it's all so confusing these day.
