@Ypmud yeah we'll get an evening arranged. I've missed playing with people from here tbh. Scott doesn't have the game anymore so haven't played with him in ages.
I cannot seem to muster any enthusiasm for this. I think it's the setting and premise. Biker nonsense I just find cringe worthy (having known real bikers. One of whom referred to his bike as a "steel horse" without a hint of irony), and zombies were overdone 5 years ago.
It just doesn't look fun at all.
Sorry, Chad Strengthface, but it's a hard pass from me.
Played a bit today. When I picked up house if wolves I remember sinking about 8 hours in on the same day. I got bored with this after about an hour. Destiny used to be my favourite game, now it's like going back to an old girlfriend who you forgot was a bit of a nightmare.
It's a shame, as I quite like the spectacle of the pressers. Maybe they don't have anything new to show? Hopefully the mystery around Bloodborne 2 will be solved
@mrobinson91 EXACTLY what I thought. Surely Sony and MS will be announcing new IP at E3? I can't see both pressers going off without at least one new announcement.
I'm not sure on some of these. There's a lot of evidence FromSoft are working on Tenchu, not Bloodborne 2. While a demon's souls remaster would be nice, I've gone into detail about how it would be tricky to pull off before. Uncharted without ND? No thanks. It would be 343 doing Halo all over again. Personally I'd like to see Sony announce a whole load of titles we 1. Don't expect and 2. Are releasing whithin the next year. Can't see it personally, but how wild would that be?
I might jump back on this later. To tell you the truth I didn't even finish curse of Osiris properly. Got to a bit in the sidequest where I was defending my ghost from vex and just put it down. That was November last year. Ah well couldn't hurt to have a look.
Well as long as we get some idea of what it actually is, I'll be happy. I've heard it's an FPS. I'm not against that, but the mechanics would need to be solid. Not like W3 where the combat just felt wonky.
Grinding them mists and trying to mop up the remaining optional bosses in BOY simulator. Tried Rayman for a little while and what an absolute gem it is. Incredibly charming. One of those games like Ratchet and Clank where it's impossible not to be cheerful while playing.
Yeah.... Unless this is spectacular I'll be skipping it. As one of the three PS Clan members who were actually active in November last year it'll take an alwful lot to make me come back. Tess Everis burned a lot of bridges.
Support so far has been first class. Sony is embarrassing the competition at this point.
What I really want is NG+ now. I'm getting close to mopping up the last of the optional quests (not the collectables though. Life's too short to hunt for tat) so it would be nice to dive back in.
It's a tough one. On one hand I'd love to see Bloodborne 2. On the other, if it's like ds2 turned out, just make a new IP.
Personally I'd like Sony to announce an expansion to GoW as there's some areas still to explore within the world. If they came out with that I'd be happy.
Funny how there's no speculation that Sony's presser is going to underwhelm this year. HUBRIS, I SAY! HUBRIS IN THE FACE OF THE GODS!!!
I'd have gone with a picture of some pneumatic teenage anime girl and called it "ALL ANIME IS TRASH". This strategy would immediately engage and entice while getting that all important publicity due to the edgy name. This is literally the only way more than twelve of the Japanese are going to buy this.
If you're reading this, Sony: I thought of that idea and I am VERY litigious.
@Morenoj1220 considering RDR2 will likely have online out the wazoo I'd say it's no contest. GoW doesn't nickel and dime players, it has way too much class for that.
I'd go even further still, I'd say it's the best game in the PS4. It's definitely the best looking game of this generation. When you factor in how good the story is, the combat, the world building, the optional quests.... You could spend a hundred hours easy playing. That's on one run, then there's hard mode.... It completely blows everything else out of the water.
Are we really seeing Nintendo as competition? I've always thought they were their own thing. I loved my Gameboy and NES when I was a kid but from the wii onward it seems like they focus on first party stuff now, which they do very well.
Different audience I guess.
What I'm saying is, who cares if Labo outsold GoW? It's a totally different audience.
@gingerfrog give me a nice punk IPA any day. Or any of the beers from Buccaneer brewery. They're on a completely different level, not just because my dad's mate owns it either. (Mods: Feel free to remove or edit this admittedly shameless plug, it's not like it's easy to get hold of anyway).
@kyleforrester87 every time I see Gaben I feel like he's about to tell me about how The Eagles were America's greatest band, and how he used to listen to Hotel California at night with a glass of Bud Light.
@get2sammyb after playing for a few hours I can see how well you did with your review. You summed it up succinctly without giving anything away, and there's been so many moments so far that have been literally jaw dropping for me. Something that would have been diminished somewhat by having things (and by that I don't mean plot points, but I won't say more than that) pointed out in a review. This is why I love this site so damn much. Well done man!
@b1ackjack_ps same!! I'm playing on a 55" tv in 4k and I'm having to squint.
Apart from that, blown away by it. Seriously in awe at the quality. An early encounter with someone who has tattoos (is that vague enough?) Had me literally cheering and I'm sat on my own!
Oddly enough I checked Amazon Prime Now, and they're selling a LOT more titles than usual. Looks like they may be offloading stock, as the range of titles they usually have only tends to cover big new releases and the odd title they're getting rid of cheap.
@AFCC what @Neolit said there is some very good advice. I use a 1TB hdd that i got off Amazon for 50 quid, and it works a treat. It's better to drop the extra cash on an external hdd that you can keep if You need a new ps4 than just buying a new ps4 outright. Either way, hope you get it sorted!
@nessisonett try LSD? Now that takes me back. The late nineties were a hell of a good time. Really though, I've played that out of curiosity. It was... Well it was different.
@FullbringIchigo played 2 and hated it. Played 3 and gave up as it was boring.
Skipped 4 and primal, and finished 5 today. About 25 hours or so and I had a great time. It's nothing revolutionary, but has a lot of laugh out loud moments and some really horrible scenes. It's fun, and with a friend in co op it's even more so.
A bit of advice; there's two people you can get as guns for hire who'll do missions with you. Ones a senators son and one is a nutter with a flamethrower. The dialogue between them is genius. They'll chat to each other randomly.
@get2sammyb my issue with walking Sims is that of the few I've played (rapture, dear Esther, gone home, and ether one) I've only finished one of them and I just didn't find them at all engaging. Personal taste I guess.
Quantic Dream games I find to be horribly written and acted. Heavy rain in particular. I know that's not an issue with Shenmue though. The poor acting is part of the charm.
The thing is, I only get a few hours a week where I can play games, so though I'd love to be able to give Shenmue a go, I don't think I'd find it particularly rewarding if it's very slow paced. I'm still made up it's coming out though. Hopefully there will be a few more from that time. 2000 or so was a time that I didn't get to play many video games. I was working up to 90 hours a week so just didn't get a chance!
Hmmm. Normally I'd be up for trying this as it passed me by and many of my friends rave about it, but this;
"Shenmue shares more in common with walking simulators – or even Quantic Dream titles like Heavy Rain"
Has put me right off. I've yet to play a walking sim I've enjoyed, and my hatred of Quantic Dream- though irrational I admit- makes me very reluctant to give Shenmue a go.
Played them all again on rerelease for the ps4. Amazing storytelling in a sometimes less than amazing package. If they can get this right (And that's a big if. Presumably Ken Levine is not involved) then it could be incredible. Let's just not have Bioshock: Andromeda for everyone's sake.
I'll definitely be buying it, just not at launch. What with a wedding to pay for I only let myself buy one big title per month, and that honour went to far cry 5.
With Dark Souls remastered out in May I may not pick up GoW til late june, but I'm definitely getting it brand new to support the game.
I'll likely give it a go at some point as I was dumb enough to buy the expansion pass. I've not actually played since about November though. So sad. What started great was completely undone by Bungo.

I started playing binary domain this week so I'll maybe finish that if I get time. I have to work this weekend sadly.

@ShogunRok well I'd be up for that. Playing destiny with friends is still more than worth it.
