Re: Warren Spector's Multiplayer Stealth Game Thick As Thieves Sneaks onto PS5 in 2026

@nomither6 I miss the days where single player games would ship with a multiplayer mode. (Say, bioshock 2, that was a good one!) Some of them were really good fun. As far as live services, if they’re playable in single player then it’s not all bad. Destiny had a fun campaign and you could play alone without relying on other people, which was great.

Thing is, when you have something you pay for which is dependent on others it feels like you just don’t have any control over it, that’s not consumer friendly. Live service has its place, but if it’s done in the right way.

It would be interesting to see which one out of global citizen, best mobile game, best esports thing, and games for impact people care the least about. It’s a pretty close thing personally.

Re: Internal Sony Fairgame$ Chatter Is Reportedly Quite Positive

It’ll be another failure and deservedly so. Concord was bland, but the character design on this is woeful. Smug and arrogant, with the same tired cliches wrapped around paper thin gameplay.
I actually don’t want to see it cancelled because I want to watch it die. There’s a certain irony about a game who’s plot is “old rich white people bad” being released by a company who’s shareholders are (in the west, at least) old rich white people. They want you to spend money on this so they can rake it in.

Re: Concord PS5, PC Sales Estimates Are Somehow Even Worse Than We Thought

Good. This godawful trend for live service nonsense has to stop, and hopefully Sony gets the message. We’ll happily wait for quality games like GoW or TLOU and don’t need another flop like this.

We don’t get bloodborne 2 but this and Destruction Allstars get heavily pushed? Dire move. Sh!tcan the damn thing now and give out refunds.

Re: Talking Point: Can PS5, PC Shooter Concord Be Saved?

Johnnycide

I enjoy games that I don’t need to rely on other, real, people to enjoy. If that’s the case and the audience isn’t there, I’ve pretty much rented it because once the servers go it’s done.

MAG
Brink
Drawn to Death
Lawbreakers
Radical Heights
The Culling 2
Evil Dead
Evolve

That’s just off the top of my head and I’m not even scratching the surface. It’s a minefield and I’m flabbergasted that Sony are still chasing that live service cash despite the risk, and knowing full well that their best games are all single player experiences.
Helldivers 2 was an outlier, but look how the perception of it has changed since release? I actually bought it and haven’t played for months due to the various issues and lack of enthusiasm from the fanbase.

Compare that to Returnal, a roguelike with a modest budget and excellent multiplayer community which doesn’t even need an online connection to enjoy. It’s not even a close thing.

Hope it does well. Season 4 of The Bear was a total slog, just pretension all the way.
The Boys s4 however, was boss! I tried to explain THAT scene in Tek Knights basement to my girlfriend who looked absolutely horrified! Completely agree with all the Anthony Starr love as well. He’s so good as Homelander.

Re: Metallica Fronts Musical PVP on Fortnite Festival's Battle Stage

@Odium @SystemAddict
One problem with Fortnite is that while it’s fun to run round as your Disposable Heroes and Fight Fire with Fire, Xbox players need to make sure they have a spare Battery for their controllers over longer play sessions. Running out must really tug at the Frayed Ends of Sanity and leave them with No Escape while their games Fade to Black.
PlayStation and particularly PC gamers might think they’re Holier Than Thou over this, but even with rechargeable batteries It’s Electric, so if you’re playing Fortnite like Nothing Else Matters and That Was Just Your Life, you’re hardly Unforgiven.
