Re: Timeless PS3 Title Journey Is 10 Years Old Today

Johnnycide

I still remember this being on plus and posting a sarky remark about it. @get2sammyb replied that I was talking out of my rusty sherrif's badge (I'm paraphrasing but still.) So I decided to play it.

Three hours later I was a wreck. One of the most profound and beautiful pieces of art I have ever witnessed. It's a true masterpiece and something everyone should experience at least once.

Re: PS Store Sales Charts: Horizon Forbidden West Plays Second Fiddle to Elden Ring

Johnnycide

@MattBoothDev you do realise you can play offline and not see any messages (which are usually left to assist players) from "idiots" like me, right?

We get it, you don't like soulsborne games. If that's the case then why feel the need to tell everyone?

Anyway Elden Ring is incredible and there's no way GG could have predicted its success. HFW is gonna sell by the bucketload for years, no need to worry. Aloy isn't going anywhere.

Re: Forspoken Delayed from May to October 2022 on PS5

Johnnycide

They specifically mention the "hero" in that release so hopefully they've just got rid of the actress and redone all the dialogue so it doesn't come off as completely tone deaf and fake. I wouldn't play this thing for charity but at least it would serve as a warning not to patronise your audience.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Elden Ring?

Johnnycide

@Would_you_kindly fromsoft wouldn't do that though. Any kind of mtx and lootboxes would completely break the game and render the core experience absolutely pointless, that's before you get to the multiplayer aspect. One of the many reasons (and good god there are SO many) I love the soulsborne games is that they seem to be above that kind of monetisation.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Elden Ring?

Johnnycide

It's an 8 for me. I love it, I'm enjoying every minute, but there's a couple of minor issues that are stopping it being a 9 (I've never played a 10).
1. The lock on can be unreliable leading to cheap deaths.
2. Netcode isn't what it could be (though that may change as player numbers stabilize)
3. Frame rate may be an issue at times
4. Occasional inputs not registering. I'll hit attack with a full stamina gauge and nothing happens. It's not common but it's not great.

Re: Poll: Did You Buy Horizon Forbidden West?

Johnnycide

I'm a rare case personally as I finished the first game but I'm not buying the sequel. Nothing against it and if you like it then great, and I hope you're having a great time with it. I just don't click too well with it and I didn't really enjoy it much.

Still, quality AAA single player story based games are the best, and I hope it sells millions.

Re: Sony to Open Bumper New Office in Liverpool, UK

Johnnycide

@Futureshark how very original. Some of the greatest history and science institutions on the planet, a city that went from "managed decline" to being at the forefront of business and culture in the north but no, it's just full of people who look like a sketch from twenty odd years ago that wasn't even that funny.

Re: Sony to Open Bumper New Office in Liverpool, UK

Johnnycide

@get2sammyb my old band played in there a few times! It's a good laugh the Cavern. They had some weird bands on at times too. I remember correctly ending up onstage with a load of people skanking to some ska punk band years back. Good times!

Re: Sony to Open Bumper New Office in Liverpool, UK

Liverpool is a great city. Lived here most of my life and was born here.

Cilla Black was vile though. Nasty piece of work who looked like Ronald McDonald after a three year drug binge and sounded like a goat gargling marbles. Horror.

Anyway, this is really good news for the staff and it's nice to see some investment round here. For anyone who's never even been, try to keep your mouth shut before making tired jokes, and remember that there's a lot more to the place than pathetic football rivalries.

It's similar to Manchester, amazing city which us scousers are apparently feuding with despite them giving us Joy Division and some of the best nights out of my life.

Re: PS5 Architect Mark Cerny to Help on Haven Studios' Inclusive and Caring Online Game

Johnnycide

Inclusion and caring? This is going to be the Fyre Fest of video games and I am absolutely here for it. Remember when a bunch of streamers did this massive anti bullying thing and it turned out they were just trying to sell headphones?

Here's the thing. If you give anyone even partial anonymity and allow them to communicate with other anonymous people then they won't be inclined to be IncLuSIvE and CaRIng toward them. They'll act like they have no reason to respect them because, well, there isn't. Nobody owes you kindness. I'm all for treating people as you'd like to be treated, but it's just not going to happen.

Also, Mark Cerny is weird as hell. I always found him really creepy.

Re: PS5 Sales Hit 17.3 Million, Now Selling Slower Than PS4

Johnnycide

Yeah because most of us can't get one. I'm still trying to get them when they're back in stock and avoid scalpers. I've had the money sat in my account for months (protip, if you're in the UK and you've worked from home the last couple of years you can claim up to 312 quid a year back. Don't do it through a dodgy company, contact HMRC direct and they'll sort it) and I still can't find any online. I'm not even angry, I just want to play demons souls!!!!

Re: PS Plus February 2022 PS5, PS4 Games Announced

Johnnycide

At this rate Spartacus will be an NFT of a turnip in a bin with #1 written in glitter on it.
Can't wait for the PlayStation access video of one of the team trying desperately to summon enthusiasm for what is an absolute dog egg of a month.

Re: Microsoft Buys Call of Duty Publisher Activision Blizzard

Johnnycide

You're all aware that corporations- and especially the psychopaths who run them- don't care about any of us unless we're giving them even more money, right? It's not a case of Microsoft good, Sony bad or whatever, it's a case of people want your money for products. Nothing more.

If we get the occasional God of War or Bloodborne then good stuff, but you can bet that these grubby little horrors absolutely hate the fact that they can't graft some kind of FUT abomination onto them.

The whole industry has become a zero sum game. It was never in your favour.

Re: Sony's PS Vita Trademark Partially Revoked in Europe Because It Isn't Being Used

Johnnycide

It could have been an amazing handheld, even rivalling the switch. It's just such a shame that Sony didn't support it with games that took advantage of the hardware.

It may be a bitter pill to swallow but most people who play games aren't "core" gamers and couldn't care less about Indies. Much as I loved playing Hotline Miami and Velocity 2x etc on mine, I always felt that there should have been more games akin to Uncharted Golden Abyss on there.
