As someone that never played the original oblivion, I'm very much looking forward to playing this. I started with Skyrim and that was a very good game despite the main quest not being as good as the side quests
Honestly, I'm pretty happy with Shadows winning game of the month since I've been having a lot of fun in the game despite issues. The gameplay, gear, cutscenes and the season changing has been pretty good overall. I also went with immersion mode and decided to not turn on canon mode since I don't mind the dialogue choices. My main issue with the game is the side quest system since a lot of them are just killing members of a named group and the kill 25/50/100 enemies of a certain type per region and there's 9 of them. One of them wasn't so bad but some others can take several season resets. I'd also give this game an 8/10 since I like the game overall. Plus, this was the only March release I was excited for since I'm a big fan of the Assassin's Creed franchise
I'm glad that Shadows is doing well so far for Ubisoft since they really needed a win after 2024 was not a good year for them (Skull and Bones then Outlaws). Despite all the controversies surrounding the latest game in the Assassin's Creed franchise, it has been very enjoyable to play despite some issues.
I started playing it as soon as it released on the 19th and put 12 hours in so far. The gameplay has been solid so far and the cutscenes are a step above Mirage. There's some minor bugs but overall I'm enjoying it a lot over Valhalla since I skipped Mirage. Ubisoft really did a great job with this game and the 2 delays were worth the wait. Immersion mode is also good since I loved the Japanese VAs with some portuguese. I turned off canon mode because I didn't really mind having dialogue choices.
Double Exposure really didn't catch my interest so I never bought it. Same thing with True Colors. I didn't really hate 2 but the first game and Before the Storm were the best games in the franchise imo.
I've been excited for Shadows since it was first revealed but I've been patient after these delays. I already pre-ordered the standard edition last month and it'll be my first new game of 2025. Hopefully Shadows does good and sells well because Ubisoft really needs this win. I did skip out on mirage as I wasn't interested in the characters or story but Shadows looks very promising.
I'm very much looking forward to Tides not just because of the gameplay but the character designs as well. One of my friends even called it a British NieR game and I can see where he comes from.
Directive 8020, Lies of P: Overture, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Stellar Blade x Nikke, and Tides of Annihilation were probably my favorite things that were shown during the SoP. The Days Gone remaster didn't really get me excited even though I really enjoyed the base game (I played it post-launch where it got better). Overall, I didn't think it was a waste of time.
I've never upgraded to a higher tier of PS+ since I was never really interested in playing classic games from the catalogue. Been sticking with the basic Essential tier ever since the tiers were introduced
It didn't really ruin my gaming plans as I wasn't really playing that many online games. Only the two gachas (Star Rail and ZZZ) and despite the issues, I managed to get in just fine and do my dailies.
If it's just the standard edition of the game then I'm not paying $100 for the base game. $70 is the highest I'm willing to pay for that edition itself.
I played the original Black Flag and I really enjoyed it overall. The naval combat was well done in that game and Edward was a solid protagonist. The only thing I didn't touch was the multiplayer so I hope the remake removes it so the game won't require online trophies to get. Since that was the reason why I never went for the platinum
They really do deserve it since Stellar Blade is an amazing game. Although it didn't win anything at TGA last month, I had a good time with it overall. Didn't have too many issues with the game.
I haven't played the first two games and dropped Primal but I enjoyed playing 3,4,5, and 6 several years ago. Far Cry 6 a bit less but that's mainly because of the story. The gameplay in that game was solid imo but the story wasn't as good as 3 or 4. So I'm hoping that the next games are good since it's one of the few Ubisoft titles I've played (the other one being Assassin's Creed).
Can't wait to see the mods for this once it comes out next year. And glad that PC players will get to experience this game. Thankfully it isn't also exclusive to Epic since that was an issue with the first part.
I watch gaming-related videos on YouTube many times so I don't mind it. Whether it be clips, compilations, or game reviews, I will watch them. Another one is Let's Play commentaries (depending on the person) where I've seen many. I also enjoy watching streamers playing games but if the game doesn't interest me (like I find League boring to watch), then I just watch someone else. And of course, I still enjoy playing them as well despite them being gachas or single-player games.
The difficulty of Rebirth's platinum is why I gave up on chasing it. Those legendary VR battles are no joke so that's why I just finished the game and move on. Remake's platinum I did get though.
Not really surprising that BO6 is releasing goofy operator skins since the previous COD titles have done exactly the same. So hearing that season 1 launched with these skins (and there's going to be even more in the next patches) didn't really faze me since it was bound to happen.
Tony Todd did such a good job as Venom that I think he's easily my favorite portrayal as Venom overall. Rest in peace legend. I was not expecting this news all of a sudden
Don't think I'll upgrade to a Pro since I'm doing just fine with my digital PS5. I'm not that sort of person who wants the absolute best so I'll definitely be skipping the Pro for now.
I remember when Lost Crown was first revealed and people weren't exactly happy with the choices. But it turned out to be a good game overall. Shame Ubisoft decided to disband the team
In the first half of 2025, I'm actually looking forward to AC Shadows since I'm a big fan of Assassin's Creed. I'm hoping that this game does well. I'm also excited for the new Mafia game since I loved the first 2. 3 had a terrible gameplay loop so I'm glad I skipped out on it.
I miss when CoD games were separate from each other unlike the modern titles where it's under that god awful Call of Duty HQ launcher. Such a terrible addition to the franchise.
When I heard that SM2 wasn't getting any sort of story DLC, I wasn't upset since I didn't really like the ones in the first game. Though Silver Lining was the only one I kinda enjoyed thanks to Spidey and Silver Sable. I think it would've been better if Insomniac put certain stuff from Spider-Man 2 and put it in 3 if it does get announced at some point.
It's the only game I'm playing atm besides HSR and ZZZ. So far it's been amazing and the new best RPG of the year imo. Very pleased with the English voices and combat overall. Atlus did a fantastic job with Metaphor
I can see why they can be annoying to create. The UI is one of Persona's strong points and I appreciate the designers for making them. I am looking forward to Metaphor since I pre-ordered it a few months ago and the last new game of 2024 I'm playing.
With those cons, I really thought it would've been a lower score but it seems like that the pros far outweigh it which is good to see. Hopefully those cons don't deter me away from finishing it. This was one of my most anticipated games this year and it's doing quite well on Metacritic so I hope I have a lot of fun with this game
Excellent review overall Sammy. I loved the original back when I played it but I can't really justify the $60 price tag as someone that already played the original. Glad I didn't end up buying it
I'd say this month was a plus, mainly because of the Dead Space remake. I'm not really into sports games so WWE2K24 doesn't appeal to me and I already played DDLC+ when it came out a few years ago. So yeah, one of the better months despite me already having played one of the games included.
Definitely the Ghost of Yōtei announcement at the end. I'm not a really big Monster Hunter fan so the new trailer for Wilds didn't really get me hyped. I think most of the State of Play stuff was meh until the last part.
I really don't get people who complain about games having a female protagonist. I loved Ghost of Tsushima back when I played it on ps4 and the ps5 remaster and had a great time playing it. Looking forward to Yotei next year
I played DDLC+ when it released so I don't see myself replaying it again but it was a very good visual novel that is different from others. I never really liked sports games in general so WWE is whatever to me but Dead Space is the clear winner here.
Not great but Ghost of Yotei absolutely stole the show imo. It looks really good and it appears to be some sort of sequel to Tsushima. Hope the protagonist is just as good as Jin Sakai from the first game. Stellar Blade x NieR:Automata is cool too but mainly the final trailer being GoY was amazing. Did not care one bit for the Horizon remaster as I didn't really enjoy that game.
I didn't even hear of Jusant but I thought I did remember seeing something about Banishers a while back. Ultimately, I forgot it existed and don't think I'll be picking up either.

@Yaycandy I don't know if I can fully agree with that statement since I really liked Saints Row 3 as well. I thought it a solid game overall unlike 4.
Re: Square Enix Takes 'Large Loss' on Life Is Strange: Double Exposure

Re: No Duos Allowed in Elden Ring: Nightreign's Take on Battle Royale
It's weird that Fromsoft allows it to be played solo or in a group of 3 but not duos. Strange decision on their part

Re: Poll: Will You Be Watching The Game Awards 2024?
Most likely but not alone since I like to watch it together with a streamer on Twitch.
Re: Elden Ring DLC Not Eligible for BAFTA's Best Game Award
Good on BAFTA for making SotE not eligible for the award since it is an expansion, not a game.

Re: Stellar Blade's Eve Will Attack You if You Act Inappropriately in New PS5 DLC

Re: The Game Awards Confirms DLC, Remasters Can Win Game of the Year Days Prior to Nominations Reveal
Shadow of the Erdtree shouldn't have been nominated imo since it's really an expansion to Elden Ring.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 551
Mostly playing Metaphor on PS5 since I'm still taking my time and enjoying the game.
Re: Poll: Are You Playing Metaphor: ReFantazio?
It's the only game I'm playing atm besides HSR and ZZZ. So far it's been amazing and the new best RPG of the year imo. Very pleased with the English voices and combat overall. Atlus did a fantastic job with Metaphor
Re: Don't Sweat Metaphor: ReFantazio's Borrowed Persona Calender System

Re: Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered PS5 Is Official, Out 31st October with $10 PS4 to PS5 Upgrade
Even though I am not the biggest fan of Horizon or its sequel, $10 is a fairly cheap price so can't really be upset about it getting a remaster.

Not great but Ghost of Yotei absolutely stole the show imo. It looks really good and it appears to be some sort of sequel to Tsushima.
