Thanks for the numbers, however regarding the PS4 sales, it had 4 years longer to get to those numbers and up to that day, it is still available in stores. Let alone it had price cuts after a few years, if I remember correctly, Switch had none so far.
PS2 was great, yet I would guess that around 8-10 million sales were for the DVD player use only (worldwide). Still quite good numbers.
I do not see the dominance in the current day and age anymore by Sony (PS5). Do they lead by the end or even now, most likely, but dominance? Come on.
I was looking at the Nintendo Switch sales in the same quarter, Nintendo sold ONLY 300.000 less units and for me it makes the PS5 sales look mediocre at best.
And a general thing, Sony shipped 61.7 million units, they did not sell all of them yet.
I find the decline in sales compared to the Q1 of last year speaks volumes. Also the 80% digital sales statistics, are there only games included that you can get on disc or did they include AW2 and BG3 ( I am aware it’s available in physical form but not everywhere and quite expensive) and all the other digital only games?
Again late to the party, the weather is just so good right now. Playing New Star GP and I am loving it, also kudos to Sony for finally bringing us Jeanne dˋArc. Bought around 15 games in the ongoing sale, I am a sucker for cheap games. Let’s hope by the next weekend I have finished at least one game.
I just finished Nier Automata (all relevant endings). Such a great and unique game.
Now I am playing Bioshock 1 from the collection. Somehow I got the urge to replay it, finished it back in the Xbox 360 days and how much I enjoy this game. Great artstyle, capturing story and environment.
Later I will watch football in the hope that England starts to realize there potential and finally will deliver a decent game. In general this Euro is pretty weak, I think the players, well most of them, are out of juice. Too many games all year.
Enjoy whatever you are doing, no illegal stuff, naturally. ^^
I do not care about the score, it is often just so obvious, that reviewers in the pro/contra section write something down, only to fill a quota. And in this case it makes very little sense to criticize that it is more of the same.
What I would appreciate is, if the main PushSquare reviewers could write down their philosophy on reviewing a game to get a better understanding in general.
I am playing Sea of Stars, almost at the end of the game. I really like the flair and the art style of the game, combat can get a bit boring. Solid game in my book, not great.
Will try and get the Platinum on this one.
Happy gaming and may your favorite football nation win ^^
Spyro Reignited Trilogy - I found it in my library / archive ^^ I have so many games, I will never be able to finish them all, but I still pull the trigger on sales.
@Dodoo
Oh my, if this ever happens, I would be in gamer heaven.
I can only wonder, what were people expecting from this SOP?
We knew there will be no big games from Sony til next year, plus the timeframe. 30 minutes, would be insane to show a PS5PRO. Summer Games Fest around the corner.
Show was ok, a tad long to introduce their Service game, but I bet they have high hopes for it.
Looking forward to the VR games, some others sparked my interest and then there was Astro. Good stuff.
Hello everyone, I am about to finish Slime Rancher today. I also went back in time, took my PSP out and started Jeanne d'Arc, what a fantastic game. On top of all that I am playing bits and pieces of The Tenth Line.
Do not mistake me for people that dislike that a black Samurai is the main lead charakter or so. And is this even the reason for the dislikes? Why are so many offended by MY opinion, it is my first impression.
For example to this day I can not stand Tobey Maguire, did not like him the first time I saw him act and it never changed. I do not like Nathan Drake, to generic (optics only). Do not like Will Smith.
Am I a racist now? No, I just stated my first thoughts, likes and dislikes.
Maybe Ubisoft gives him a good story, makes him intertesting and I might change my mind. Nothing is set in stone.
Or lets go with another example certain smells, cinnamon. I can not stand the smell of it. Did I choose this, I did not. But I can also not tell you were this is coming from. Gut feeling maybe.
Sorry to disapoint you, it has nothing to do with the colour of his skin, so wrong assumption on your part. Why do you have to make this about race? We are all the same underneath.
Yes, that's what I stated. Something wrong with that? You never have a first impression of something/someone, a first impulse? Feels just out of place and he looks so bulky. Might be because I just finished Ghost of Tsushima a few weeks ago and I realy like the main in that game.
It has nothing to do with the colour of his skin, if he would be purple, yellow, white whatever. This would still be my tirst impression, well if he was purple, it would be weird on top of all.
Besides that, I do not care for historical background.
Given how horrible Microsoft manages its gaming department since the E3 that introduced / announced the Xbox One, the Sony numbers seem weak. I would like to know who had the biggest profit in gaming in 2023 (MS, Sony, Nintendo).

Re: PlayStation's Domination of Europe Set to Continue with Renewed Champions League Sponsor
@Nei
True. Europe is Nintendos "weakness".
But you really believe PS5 will have more sales in the end than Switch? Europe or in total?

Re: PlayStation's Domination of Europe Set to Continue with Renewed Champions League Sponsor
@Orpheus79V
I was referring to lifetime sales, in my book there is no dominance whatsoever.sony is nowhere near to be market leader compared to Nintendo.
Re: PlayStation's Domination of Europe Set to Continue with Renewed Champions League Sponsor
Domination my behind, Switch sold way more, stop bending reality, much appreciated.

Re: We Find This PS5 Wishlist Issue Irrationally Irksome
I can only promise one thing, Sony will never get it together especially when it comes to stuff like that.
So many small, yet annoying logical flaws in the store, the console ui and so on.
Re: Hey Jude! England and Real Madrid's Bellingham Fronts EA Sports FC 25

Best diver by far, I agree on that one. Glad England lost to Spain, a new coach will show what this team is truly capable of.

Re: Some PSN Services Down and Offline, Sony Investigating
I am bashing Sony quite often, but I think they improved upon the download speed and the network uptime quite notably.
My PS5 downloads faster then my X Series X, so all good.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 535
I finished Tales of Kenzera, very mediocre game, technical issues and it felt quite empty.
Right now I play Nier Automata, not to far into the game yet, however in one section the game crashes 90% of the time. Bah.
On the Xbox I started State of Decay again, rough around the edges, but so much fun.
Happy weekend yˋall.
Re: PlayStation Likely to Go All-Digital By PS7, Analyst Predicts
Where is the option: "Mankind will not make it to the PS7 release"?
Re: Legendary Zombie Game Dead Rising Gets a Second Remaster, Out in 2024
I finished Dead Rising just 2 years ago, I enjoyed it so much, I did go for all the BLING trophies.
Would probably do it all over again, will definitely check it out in a deep, deep sale.
Bring DR3 to PS5.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 534
I finished Sea of Stars, maybe my taste is off because I can not see how this game got such good reviews.
Started Tales of Kenzera, just finished the first act. The game feels pretty empty, on the side I play some Far Cry 5. But mostly I watch the Euro 24.
Enjoy your games and weekend.

So, to summarize.Getting more of one of the best games ever made is a negative?

Re: Preview: Astro Bot on PS5 Could Be the Best 3D Platformer This Side of Nintendo
@get2sammyb
Yeah of course several Nintendo platformers, however I excluded them. I just wanted to hear some opinions and recommendations.
I love Astro Bot and looking forward to play it, my niece is also very exited about the game.
@Ralizah
I think I have those games in my huge games archive (can't call it backlog anymore) I will try them. Thanks for the tip.
@Dodoo
If you have the power to declare things offical, can you bring Sony to remake SOCOM II, much appreciated. ^^
Re: Preview: Astro Bot on PS5 Could Be the Best 3D Platformer This Side of Nintendo
Does a platformer exist that is as good as Super Mario 64 (Nintendo platformers excluded)?
Re: Metal Gear Solid 3 PS5 Remake Given New Trailer, But No Release Date
@anoyonmus
Yes, I am aware of that. Just hoping Sony gives us an insight whats in store for us til the end of 2025. The sooner the better.
Re: Metal Gear Solid 3 PS5 Remake Given New Trailer, But No Release Date
Snake looks somewhat weird to me. Still looking forward to play the game.
Btw Xbox Showcase was fantastic. Sony, your turn. Thanks.
Re: Poll: Was Summer Game Fest 2024 Great or a Letdown?
Seinfeld was a way better show about nothing!

More gameplay less CGI would be my preference.
Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Sony's State of Play for May 2024?
Kept my expectations low and Sony surprised me. Some interesting looking games. And with Summer Game Fest coming, there will be more.

Looking forward to it. There is hope.

Re: Sony Seems to Have Broken the PS5's Game Time Tracker, Again
@BusyOlf
Hehe, what can I say, I enjoy my PS1, PS2, PS4 and PS5. But Sony could easily do so much better.
The timer is a nice feature and for me it works more often than not.
@Matroska
I got lucky with my PS4Pro it was extremely silent.
Re: Sony Seems to Have Broken the PS5's Game Time Tracker, Again
We all should be thankful and relieved that Sony is in console business and not nuclear reactors.
Re: System Shock (PS5) - A Faithful Remake That's Showing Its Age
I can not wait for a System Shock 2 Remake on PS5. I will give this one a try as well. Part 2 was awesome back in the day.
Re: Rejoice! Vanillaware Is Recruiting for a New Fantasy RPG
Excellent, all the games I played from them so far are great.
I even ordered one without checking what it is about, I think it is a remake. It is called GrimGrimoire OnceMore. Was only 25 €.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 529
Long weekend here, Monday is free. I am playing Animal Well (PushSquare dropped the ball on this one with an 8). Fantastic game.
On the side I try finishing up The Tenth Line and I started Slime Rancher, simple but very addictive game, lots of fun.
Happy weekend everyone.
