Re: Fans Appear to Be Coming Around to PS5 Pro

Northern_munkey

@Ajbr8687 "$70 for games is way too expensive!!!" I personally think that £70 upwards is too expensive for me..if others wish to spend their money on them well that's entirely up to them. It dosnt make them "boot lickers" or "corporate shills" as some call them rather ignorantly...they are just exercising their right as a consumer to purchase what they want, when they want and for however much "they" are willing to pay. I myself will wait for the game to hit an acceptable price that I'm happy with.

Re: Fans Appear to Be Coming Around to PS5 Pro

Northern_munkey

@NEStalgia pretty much what I'm saying. I'm not saying everybody spends the price of the ps5 Pro on a new phone every couple of years but most people will because they have to have the most up to date tech and its not because they "need" it but they have to be seen to..its a statement. Again you had a very specific need in mind when you built your rig and set aside the funds to achieve that goal and the people who want a ps5 Pro are no different. If somebody wants something they will always find a way to purchase it. I would love a fodera bass guitar but I don't need one and there lies the rub..I want but I don't "need" one.

Re: Fans Appear to Be Coming Around to PS5 Pro

Northern_munkey

@NEStalgia I also forgot to mention my recent addiction to sim racing..I'm about to drop silly money on a new steering wheel set up as soon as thrustmaster reveal their new direct drive unit and possibly a new cockpit too (I know I'm a nutter right?) But it's what I really enjoy and I'm enjoying my midlife crisis quite a lot. Since I lost my mother earlier this year I've made a promise to myself that I'm going to try and enjoy my life as much as I can without bankrupting myself in the process. Life's too short for what ifs...

Re: Fans Appear to Be Coming Around to PS5 Pro

Northern_munkey

@NEStalgia most people do spend that on a mobile phone and some even more. Even with a contract the cost of the phone is factored in. The point I was making or trying to was that people will spend silly amounts of money on the things that give them the most enjoyment in life. Your pc probably cost a fair chunk of change and will continue to when you inevitably need to upgrade it to stay up to date with the games..its no different.

Re: Fans Appear to Be Coming Around to PS5 Pro

Northern_munkey

@UltimateOtaku91 "people spend the same as that (if not more) on a new mobile phone every two years." I have to agree with this notion. I myself am sitting on the fence and waiting to see before I decide to buy a ps5 Pro. I'll try and put things into context here (I hope.) So as a golfing fanatic I've upgraded my clubs around 5 times and probably spent over £2000. I've got a scotty Cameron putter (£280.) I bought a cobra driver brand new (£400) plus golf membership p/y (£1250) which may seem ridiculous to some people here but its what I love playing above all else. Given the choice of sitting around when it's good weather playing the ps5 or my bass guitar or being out on the golf course it's the golf that wins out every time..every time. So £700 plus however much a bluray drive is really is nothing to complain about if that's your chosen pleasure. My wife is an artist who is endorsed by derwent pencils and she is an ambassador for them and she is one of the artists that was hand picked by them to assist other artists in her chosen preference of medium. Now she gets new products from them all the time to test and review for them for free and I don't even want to think about how much her studio (spare bedroom) would have cost if she wasn't so lucky to have been picked by them. If people want a ps5 Pro they will buy one regardless of the price which I think is reasonable. I'll bet over half the people moaning will buy one anyway and probably won't admit to it either. I hope I did a good job of explaining my thinking.

Re: Black Myth: Wukong Sales Over 20 Million In a Month, Entering GOAT Territory

Northern_munkey

@RoomWithaMoose "The PC market is massive now, almost putting the existence of consoles into question." Not at all. The pc user base has been massive for decades and it will continue to co-exist along side console gamers. Consoles are never going away because there are too many gamers that find the convenience of the plug and play nature much easier to contend with. In fact I'd argue the opposite in that with modern consoles hitting high quality graphics and sound along with much faster loading times are more likely to be even more of a lure to gamers. A top tier gaming rig is always going to beat out the consoles but at a much, much higher entry price point than current consoles..even the ps5 Pro.

Re: Don't Give Up on Jin Just Yet, More Ghost of Tsushima Spin-Offs Planned

Northern_munkey

We should be careful what we ask for. I'd like more ghost games for certain as GOT is easily one of my all time fave games but I don't think anybody wants endless sequels, prequels, origins and the bits in between like the AC games have become. Admittedly since odyssey I have enjoyed the AC games and played origins after I finished odyssey but even though I intend to purchase shadows I think that may be my last entry in the AC universe. I don't want that kind of apathy extending towards the ghost franchise..

Re: All Eyes on Aloy (Again), as Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered Comparison Does the Rounds

Northern_munkey

@Pleasance it's best not to rattle his cage. This remaster looks a heck of a lot better than the original and its obviously not been rushed as a quick cash grab either. £10 for the upgrade has definitely made me a day one purchaser. It took me forever to get into the first game but once I started playing it I was hooked and felt a bit daft that I'd waited so long before playing it. Saying that I still need to play the 2nd outing too 🤣

Re: Ubisoft Board Orders Internal Investigation and Review into Company's Financial Woes

Northern_munkey

I'm looking forwards to shadows and I'm not bothered about the delay as it obviously needs some polish and I won't purchase it day one anyway...I'll wait for the sale as I've done with every AC game since origins (I'd rather have the ultimate editions at a fraction of the price.) Maybe ubisoft need to trim the fat as they seem to have an awful lot of workers and maybe release fewer games and concentrate on quality over quantity.

Re: Horizon Zero Dawn PS5 Wins Over PlayStation Fans

Northern_munkey

If remasters of AAA games from the ps4 such as this have a £10-£15 price if you own the original version then to me it's acceptable especially when they look this good compared to the original. The prices Sony charged for the countless last of us remasters etc was disgusting and there should have been heavy discounts for the owners of the originals.

Re: Ubisoft Backs Out of Tokyo Game Show at Eleventh Hour, Cancels Livestream

Northern_munkey

I love it..all the fake outragers getting their panties in a bunch over a fictional game that uses historical eras and cultures to tell an interactive story. I don't think any one entry in the AC games have been 100% accurate but at least they go some way more than others to try and draw the player in. I really love it when the keyboard warrior activists get on their high horses and decide to right the worlds wrongs all from the safety of their rooms with all the mod cons (usually using parts made in china) that they complain about and say they'll boycott so vehemently. Don't worry ubisoft they'll soon be back to hating on Sony and the ps5 Pro again..incidently I think the game looks pretty interesting.

Re: Don't Nod 'Disappointed' by Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, Jusant Sales

Northern_munkey

I didn't get on with vampyr. I thought the graphics and stilted animations were very ps3 era. The story and acting was quite mediocre and WTF was up with the soundtrack? That demented, screeching violin whilst nerve jangling (I'm guessing that was the desired effect) was annoying as hell. I can see that people in the comments section enjoyed it a lot but it just wasn't for me sorry.

Re: A Massive 75% of UK Game Sales Were Digital Last Month

Northern_munkey

I don't think physical will ever really die out 100%. There's still that 25% that purchase it apparently which makes it a valid medium yes? I don't want an all digital future but it's not the end of the world for me if it happens. All it means is I won't be buying day one releases unless they are under £60.

Re: God of War Ragnarok PC Review Bombed Over PSN Requirement

Northern_munkey

So the pc version is getting review bombed? How is this relevant to PlayStation gamers? Exactly what are pushsquare trying to achieve by highlighting (gas lighting?) PC gamers woes and anxieties about having to sign into something they already knew was going to be in place? Good lord whatever next?

Re: PS5's Building Insurmountable Lead Over Rival, Outselling Xbox Almost 3:1

Northern_munkey

@Titntin you may well be the oldest..sorry I meant most experienced gamer here. As I'm trying my hardest to catch you up I'm looking at my backlog and it's making me wince. I have so many games I have not even started to think about playing and I really should too. Also I've been thinking about something you mentioned the last time we conversed on here and that was about space saving. As everybody knows I lost my mother earlier this year and having to sort out her estate especially the amount of dvd's and cd's as well as all her books etc was excruciatingly difficult which in turn has made me rethink my stance on digital purchases. Whilst I love my physical games I'm currently looking at my massive collection of games,cd's,dvd's,books and graphic novels and if I go before my wife the poor things going to have a nightmare sorting that lot out. You certainly gave me food for thought my friend.

Re: PS5's Commanding Console Position Is Seemingly Insurmountable

Northern_munkey

I was always playstion. I played halo on the xbox and moved over to Microsoft. Bought the 360 on the promise of full HD gaming and being very happy with the original black brick I thought it was a no brainer..After 2 years of sending the bloody thing back to Microsoft to keep having the red ring of death repaired I decided to purchase the ps3 and whilst most first party games (yeah I know right) we're stunning most of the other games we're quite awful to be brutally honest. Bayonetta was shocking performance wise and dragons dogma with those huge black borders and the old vasoline vision was just horrendous. It transpires that very few xbox 360 or ps3 games ever played in full HD. I've stayed with sonys consoles ever since and I can't see myself returning to owing an xbox again. I love gaming on my ps5 and I just think it's a cracking console and sonys dominance is speaking volumes because everybody's buying them. Now we just need some real ps5 first party games that are not hobbled by having to be on the ps4 too.

Re: Reaction: Why There Are So Many Unnecessary PS5 Remasters for Games That Don't Need Them

Northern_munkey

I'm fed up to the back teeth of remasters. Complete remakes like demons souls are acceptable because they have been ripped apart and rebuilt from the ground up to use the ps5 to it's potential. I can also accept remakes having a higher price tag too..but remasters? If they are going to persist with remasters then they need to seriously rethink the pricing structure as well. If you've already purchased a game that's been released and then it's remastered a few years later then you should be offered a reduced upgrade price as standard. I've only purchased a handful of remasters (NFS hot pursuit, dark souls, spiderman etc) and those are games that I'll play again and dark souls was the only one I bought at almost full price. I guess if people stopped buying these remasters they would hopefully realise we don't need them and don't really want the games they are pushing out. Now where is that killzone remake?

Re: Dragon Age: Inquisition Massively Oversold Projections, Remains BioWare's Biggest Game

Northern_munkey

I played this to death on my PC running the game @1440p with framerates through the roof..when I got my ps4 I bought it again with all the dlc with every intention of going through it again (yes I liked it that much) but 30fps? Instant no,no,no for me as it just seemed so unresponsive..tried it again on the ps5 hoping that maybe it was boosted to 60fps but no..it still runs like a bag of horse poop..

Re: Horizon Zero Dawn's PS5, PC Remaster Is Very Much the Real Deal

Northern_munkey

If they offer an upgrade for £10 - £15 then maybe I'd bite as I really enjoyed the first game when I played through it when I got my ps5. I still have not played through the 2nd game yet so maybe I should. In fact looking at my backlog I should really play through a lot of the games that are stock piled..a winter mission approaches me I think.

Re: Battlefield Fans Triangulate Real-World Location Shown in Concept Art

Northern_munkey

It's battlefield and it's one of my all time fave online shooters but I fear it's going to be rushed out and only a fraction of the whole game on launch day. EA are going to monetise the heck out of it as well with battle passes etc which I know is common practice but wouldn't it be nice for EA to buck the trend for once? Also I'd like destruction on par with bad company 2 which to this day is still unrivaled and extremely odd that EA have never figured out that it's bad company 3 we want..that's what we need.

Re: Vince Zampella Defends PS5 Pro Price, Says 'It's Actually Not That Bad'

Northern_munkey

@nomither6 "no one is buying a PC for $700 , it defeats the purpose." If you are not a gamer that comment is correct but seeing as a lot of console gamers who are baulking at the ps5 Pro price are stating that they are thinking of ditching the ps5 etc and going to buy or build a gaming rig then zampellas comment is very valid. There are going to be a lot of people who know very little about pc gaming and exactly how much it costs to have a rig that performs to the exact same levels of fidelity the ps5 or ps5 Pro do being very disappointed when they spend £700 - £800 and it just dosnt deliver. You know what it takes to build a gaming PC and you know how much it costs too and you know the point I'm making here. The ps5 Pro is very expensive for the casual gamer who should stick with their ps5's but for the enthusiast gamers who can't justify spending over a grand on a gaming rig then the ps5 Pro is an acceptable price point. I'm still not certain if I'll get one myself but I'm not saying I won't ever either.

Re: Blizzard Reportedly Made $150 Million in Diablo 4 Microtransactions

Northern_munkey

@PuppetMaster I've played every diablo game. Diablo 2 resurrected on the ps5 is my fave followed by diablo 3. I really enjoy 4 but it just dosnt grab me the same way d2 does. D2's atmosphere is very dark and the story is brilliant as it unravels. D4 plays brilliantly but that story is all over the place. I've not bothered with the season passes as you can't make enough platinum out of a single season to purchase the next one and that really rubbed me the wrong way.
