Re: PS5's Building Insurmountable Lead Over Rival, Outselling Xbox Almost 3:1

Northern_munkey

@Titntin you may well be the oldest..sorry I meant most experienced gamer here. As I'm trying my hardest to catch you up I'm looking at my backlog and it's making me wince. I have so many games I have not even started to think about playing and I really should too. Also I've been thinking about something you mentioned the last time we conversed on here and that was about space saving. As everybody knows I lost my mother earlier this year and having to sort out her estate especially the amount of dvd's and cd's as well as all her books etc was excruciatingly difficult which in turn has made me rethink my stance on digital purchases. Whilst I love my physical games I'm currently looking at my massive collection of games,cd's,dvd's,books and graphic novels and if I go before my wife the poor things going to have a nightmare sorting that lot out. You certainly gave me food for thought my friend.

Re: PS5's Commanding Console Position Is Seemingly Insurmountable

Northern_munkey

I was always playstion. I played halo on the xbox and moved over to Microsoft. Bought the 360 on the promise of full HD gaming and being very happy with the original black brick I thought it was a no brainer..After 2 years of sending the bloody thing back to Microsoft to keep having the red ring of death repaired I decided to purchase the ps3 and whilst most first party games (yeah I know right) we're stunning most of the other games we're quite awful to be brutally honest. Bayonetta was shocking performance wise and dragons dogma with those huge black borders and the old vasoline vision was just horrendous. It transpires that very few xbox 360 or ps3 games ever played in full HD. I've stayed with sonys consoles ever since and I can't see myself returning to owing an xbox again. I love gaming on my ps5 and I just think it's a cracking console and sonys dominance is speaking volumes because everybody's buying them. Now we just need some real ps5 first party games that are not hobbled by having to be on the ps4 too.

Re: Reaction: Why There Are So Many Unnecessary PS5 Remasters for Games That Don't Need Them

Northern_munkey

I'm fed up to the back teeth of remasters. Complete remakes like demons souls are acceptable because they have been ripped apart and rebuilt from the ground up to use the ps5 to it's potential. I can also accept remakes having a higher price tag too..but remasters? If they are going to persist with remasters then they need to seriously rethink the pricing structure as well. If you've already purchased a game that's been released and then it's remastered a few years later then you should be offered a reduced upgrade price as standard. I've only purchased a handful of remasters (NFS hot pursuit, dark souls, spiderman etc) and those are games that I'll play again and dark souls was the only one I bought at almost full price. I guess if people stopped buying these remasters they would hopefully realise we don't need them and don't really want the games they are pushing out. Now where is that killzone remake?

Re: Dragon Age: Inquisition Massively Oversold Projections, Remains BioWare's Biggest Game

Northern_munkey

I played this to death on my PC running the game @1440p with framerates through the roof..when I got my ps4 I bought it again with all the dlc with every intention of going through it again (yes I liked it that much) but 30fps? Instant no,no,no for me as it just seemed so unresponsive..tried it again on the ps5 hoping that maybe it was boosted to 60fps but no..it still runs like a bag of horse poop..

Re: Horizon Zero Dawn's PS5, PC Remaster Is Very Much the Real Deal

Northern_munkey

If they offer an upgrade for £10 - £15 then maybe I'd bite as I really enjoyed the first game when I played through it when I got my ps5. I still have not played through the 2nd game yet so maybe I should. In fact looking at my backlog I should really play through a lot of the games that are stock piled..a winter mission approaches me I think.

Re: Battlefield Fans Triangulate Real-World Location Shown in Concept Art

Northern_munkey

It's battlefield and it's one of my all time fave online shooters but I fear it's going to be rushed out and only a fraction of the whole game on launch day. EA are going to monetise the heck out of it as well with battle passes etc which I know is common practice but wouldn't it be nice for EA to buck the trend for once? Also I'd like destruction on par with bad company 2 which to this day is still unrivaled and extremely odd that EA have never figured out that it's bad company 3 we want..that's what we need.

Re: Vince Zampella Defends PS5 Pro Price, Says 'It's Actually Not That Bad'

Northern_munkey

@nomither6 "no one is buying a PC for $700 , it defeats the purpose." If you are not a gamer that comment is correct but seeing as a lot of console gamers who are baulking at the ps5 Pro price are stating that they are thinking of ditching the ps5 etc and going to buy or build a gaming rig then zampellas comment is very valid. There are going to be a lot of people who know very little about pc gaming and exactly how much it costs to have a rig that performs to the exact same levels of fidelity the ps5 or ps5 Pro do being very disappointed when they spend £700 - £800 and it just dosnt deliver. You know what it takes to build a gaming PC and you know how much it costs too and you know the point I'm making here. The ps5 Pro is very expensive for the casual gamer who should stick with their ps5's but for the enthusiast gamers who can't justify spending over a grand on a gaming rig then the ps5 Pro is an acceptable price point. I'm still not certain if I'll get one myself but I'm not saying I won't ever either.

Re: Blizzard Reportedly Made $150 Million in Diablo 4 Microtransactions

Northern_munkey

@PuppetMaster I've played every diablo game. Diablo 2 resurrected on the ps5 is my fave followed by diablo 3. I really enjoy 4 but it just dosnt grab me the same way d2 does. D2's atmosphere is very dark and the story is brilliant as it unravels. D4 plays brilliantly but that story is all over the place. I've not bothered with the season passes as you can't make enough platinum out of a single season to purchase the next one and that really rubbed me the wrong way.

Re: Sony Boss Says 'PCs Are Difficult to Set Up', Firm Will Focus on PS5

Northern_munkey

@jrt87 i have to agree with you. When I built my PC many, many moons ago I hardly ever had crashes but it was the constant updates and conflicts that really irked me. Windows updates really hacked me off. I built a amd fx6300 based pc mainly because the price of the cpu (£85) was cheap and the overclock potential was very good. I threw in 16 gig of ram and a msi gtx970 and all was good for about 5 years until the power supply went kaput. It still runs well to this day but its my wife's work station now as its just not up to playing modern games and it will be expensive to upgrade it and truth be told I just can't be arsed..I'm 52 this year and just want an easy hassle free gaming twighlight.

Re: Sony Boss Says 'PCs Are Difficult to Set Up', Firm Will Focus on PS5

Northern_munkey

@HonestHick @PuppetMaster I've been saying this all ps5 gen. You can't build a gaming rig that will run games to the same standard as the ps5 for under a £1000. So all these people saying they are going to turn to pc gaming are going to be spending so much more than £700 when the ps5 Pro drops. I've had arguments with people on this site who say they can build a gaming rig that will be better than a ps5 for not that much more than a ps5 costs but when I've challenged them to build it and show everybody here it running games that exist on the ps5 they suddenly turn mute and you don't hear from them again. Consoles are very convenient for just the plug and play aspect. £700 for the ps5 Pro is not too much and yes of course I'd like it to be cheaper but it is what it is and no amount of moaning is going to change it.

Re: The Crew Motorfest's Generous PS5, PS4 Update Looks Like an Entire New Game

Northern_munkey

@SteveJaye I have the thrustmaster T150 and it's taken me a bit of tweaking but I've got the settings just right for me and I'm having a blast (I just bought it in the sale.) I have the steering lock set to 360 in the options and I'm using mode 1 on the actual wheel base itself. All assists off. Very nice game and is so like TDU which is one of my fave racing games. I agree that once you use a steering wheel you never go back to the pad especially on GT7 and EA sports wrc. I'm looking to upgrade my wheel soon but I'm waiting to see what thrustmasters new direct drive unit is like before I buy the gt 2 unit. What is the T300 like as the over heating reports put me off it?

Re: State of Play Rumoured for This Month As Sony Looks Set to Skip PS Showcase in 2024

Northern_munkey

No first party games, countless remasters and really old decrepit tech apparently (sarcasm) and yet Sony is still selling a silly amount of ps5's and taking all the "complainers" money...yes indeed this generation has been a massive flop for Sony. All joking aside I can see why people are unhappy but we all still buy the console and games. Skipping this years state of play has got people rankled because they want Sony to show off what it's cooking but there is nothing to show. I guess people want Sony to show up with bugger all so they can say what everybody already knows...there's no first party games ready yet if at all.

Re: Poll: Would You Buy PS5 Pro If It Was Cheaper?

Northern_munkey

@NEStalgia a console cycle lasts say 10 years or there abouts..pc gpu and cpu are evolving all the time so no I wouldn't say consoles have become part of the eternal upgrade loop yet. Once they start having replaceable gpus etc (effectively becoming pc's) then they join that never ending eco system. There is food on the table for everybody now and the menu has a new expensive dish that everybody wants a taste of but not everybody can afford. I quite enjoy our little to and fros because you understand what I'm trying to convey and are never snarky or try to be patronising (unlike some others who will not be named.) I'm off to work now so I'll reply on my lunch break if I take one today..until then have a good one 👍

Re: Poll: Would You Buy PS5 Pro If It Was Cheaper?

Northern_munkey

@NEStalgia it's not the most expensive console ever though is it? The Neo Geo was the most expensive console ever launched and the cost of the games...Holy f**k! I remember my mate buying one on import way back at the tail end of 1991 with a couple of games and it was awesome but that price tag. The ps5 Pro is expensive indeed but I'm currently looking at gaming pc's to see if I can actually get a rig for under a £1000 even though I have no intention of ever going the pc route again (the eternal upgrade route every couple of years is too expensive) and I can't find anything that will live up to what I'd expect to outlast the ps5 Pro (without continuous upgrades.) So for me I'll be waiting to see how the ps5 performs before committing myself or wait until my ps5 gives up the ghost. I suppose it all boils down to just how much does the individual really need that upgrade.

Re: Poll: Would You Buy PS5 Pro If It Was Cheaper?

Northern_munkey

@__jamiie for once I agree with you. I don't think we've seen what the ps5 is really capable of yet. The ps5 Pro is obviously aimed at the enthusiast gamers who usually prefer their uber pc setups. I'm happy with my ps5 for now but once the ps5 Pro launches and we see exactly what it brings to the table I'll be able to ask myself if it's something I really need or if it's something I want...there is a big difference especially at the price point (I think it's reasonable although I'd obviously like it to be cheaper.) As a recent sim racer convert and looking to upgrade my current racing setup if the racing games are as good as GT7 looks on the ps5 Pro then it's a no brainer for me as a new racing rig and a ps5 Pro would still be cheaper than me buying a new pc setup..a lot cheaper.

Re: PS5 Pro Pre-Orders Will Be Exclusive to PS Direct for Two Weeks

Northern_munkey

I've hardly read any positive comments in any of the ps5 Pro articles. Hardly anybody commenting sounds like they are going to buy it anyway but everybody's getting worked up over this pre order scheme as well..why does it bother people so much when they have already announced they are not purchasing one? I just don't get it..

Re: Despite Price Point, Analyst Firm Expects PS5 Pro to Sell Like PS4 Pro

Northern_munkey

I'll wait and see exactly what improvements are actually achievable and see if they bring out a sku with a drive. My priority is a new sim racing setup as thrustmaster have a new direct drive unit coming out and I want a proper racing frame too. If GT7 looks anywhere near as good as it did in the video and other racing games get ps5 Pro updates then I'll consider my options..wheel first though.

Re: Ubisoft Investor Calls for Company to Go Private, and CEO Yves Guillemot to Be Replaced

Northern_munkey

@Shalooda told you didn't I? I myself love souls like games but I fully understand exactly where you are coming from too. I feel the same about jrpg's as I just find them cheesy as he'll and I don't like the anime style of graphics. I bought gran blue fantasy relink thingy or whatever its called and I quite enjoyed it but I won't be purchasing another but I get why people like...especially 50 year old perverts..

Re: Here's Your First Look at Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's Chaotic Competitive PS5, PS4 Multiplayer

Northern_munkey

@Flaming_Kaiser I'm not easily offended but racism and cancer jibes are bang out of order. I can live with threats of violence (anybody who's met me know that it's only ever going one way) but wishing cancer on somebody is just so wrong. I was accused of being racist at work many moons ago and I just showed them a photo of my mixed race wife and they back tracked so fast they almost broke the space time continuem..God bless the tinterweb for giving those toxic trolls a voice..
