Re: Housemarque's New PS5 Game Will Be a Little Less Punishing Than Returnal

OptimusPrime1

@Zeke68 Thanks for the response. To see if I could find anything, I checked the EU PS blog site archives in Wayback Machine (linked below), where blog posts end on 2020/05/28 (when that site merge probably happened as there are only redirect pages archived soon after), and couldn't find any blog posts archived in 2020 (or 2019) with Returnal or Housemarque in the URL. FWIW, the game was apparently announced on 2020/06/11, so that might not be surprising.

@Zeke68 I haven't heard of such a player-specific world seed that would consistently make it more difficult for some. Do you remember which Returnal blog post you read that in? https://blog.playstation.com/tag/returnal/
FYI, weapon level number is determined based on your current weapon proficiency number when you find the weapon. So, you can't find a high-level weapon at the beginning (i.e. when you have low proficiency). And each different type of weapon only spawns after you find that type of weapon for the first time at its corresponding discovery biome and room (assuming that room spawns in your current cycle).

Re: Rumour: Sony Paying Close Attention to Handheld Market After PS Portal's Shock Success

Another issue with making a portable version of PS4 would be the save file of each game being separate from that of its PS5 version, which would prevent seamlessly switching between playing on this hypothetical portable and playing on the PS5 (like you can with the Portal) unless you're OK with playing the PS4 version of the game on PS5, which would mean missing out on PS5 improvements over PS4, like better performance and image quality, DualSense features, 3D audio, etc.

Re: New PS5 Pro Leak Points to Significant Graphics Push from Sony

OptimusPrime1

It's ironic to claim that "PS5 is not even being pushed" while knowing (and even complaining) that some games' performance modes look too blurry/low-res and some games do not always hit their target framerates. PS5 Pro will (at the very least) allow devs to increase the base resolution and possibly the quality of upscaling in performance modes (with PSSR), as well as reduce (or even eliminate) framerate drops (when capped) or increase framerates (when uncapped) for GPU-bottlenecked games (which is most modern 3D games), not to mention potentially adding/improving raytracing features without impacting performance. Also, nobody will be forcing any customer to buy anything. So, if you're satisfied with your PS5, then ignore and don't buy the PS5 Pro.

Re: Poll: How Much Do You Care About 60fps on PS5?

OptimusPrime1

The poll is missing an option for 40 fps mode, which (for 120Hz TVs) is a great compromise for current gen consoles, and therefore it should ideally be supported in all games. It has a frame time of 25 ms, which is exactly halfway between the frame time for 30 and 60 fps (33.33 ms and 16.67 ms, respectively), and feels mostly stutter-free (unlike 30 fps on OLED TVs), while also running at relatively high resolutions.

@Rafie I had the same "issue". If you don't see a button like "Claim" or "Add to Library" for Witch Queen, you probably already have it in your library. Make sure the main game is installed and updated. If you're on PS5, select "Manage Game Content" in the game icon (Options button) menu on PS5 home screen. If Witch Queen is listed there as Usable, you should already have it in your library, and it should be available in-game, I think.

There are posts on Reddit about the issue: https://www.reddit.com/r/PlayStationPlus/search/?q=witch+queen
