@Anchorsam_9 I must say that the way the all the harsher colors very briefly popped during an explosion was incredibly cool. Best explosions since GTAV I reckon. Just Cause 3 has some great ones too but they're too frequent to leave the same impression.
That just sounds like generic movie backing soundtrack stuff.
Like if Nate's themes 1-3 are Imperial March then this version 4 is whatever the hell music plays when Luke asks Uncle Owen if he can go pick up some power converters.
When you get a massive orchestra you have to be careful to still have that whistle-able melody front and center or the whole piece will just become a background element.
Not in NZ. All we got here was a trailer that we'd already seen for Civil War and a new trailer for, perhaps fittingly, Temuera Morrison's (Jango Fett) new NZ movie.
Considering that Kojima had a non-compete until like two days ago, we're unlikely to see anything from him for at least two years, and even then it'll be another year after that before it actually comes out.
While I agree with the article, I don't know if it was worth the effort to write it. Sure, you can analyse and explain why a CoD campaign sucks from a narrative standpoint, but it's a given that most players who would care about an article like this innately recognize why anyway.
On the one hand this looks like it's cheapening some stuff (like El Dorado by making it basically a grenade, or Lazaravic and Marlowe by making them playable characters).
On the other UC3's MP (not to mention TLoU's) was fantastic so I can't wait to play.
@Gamer83 AC2 was a great game but I'd hesitate to say it holds up now. AC4's still great though. That's probably the best entry point now with the possible exception of Syndicate.
@get2sammyb It's worth nothing that, if a credit card fails for any reason 3 times, whether it's the buyer's fault or Sony's, you can't use that credit card for at least a week, sometimes 10 days, for security reasons.
So a lot of people will not only be not giving Sony money now, but also not giving Sony money over the next week.
I'll play anything by Platinum. Except Scalebound because no Xbox. And Star Fox doesn't look good. And Project Guard is Tower Defense. So just this then.
This looks okay for what it is but entirely off from the original storytelling. Ratchet was not a boy scout in the original. He liked Captain Quark's radio show, yes, but he was a reluctant hero and kind of an ass.
I htink the problem is that GTAV did the 'all things to all people' thing so well that something like Ass Creed just looks like it's trying too hard.
Just Cause 3 and Wild Hunt fill specific niches that would be worse off if they weren't open-world. All the other games mentioned could be linear and not really suffer apart from length and how much sheer stuff they could haphazardly chuck in.
Having story DLC to a game that is supposed to end a story-focused series makes it likely that it'll be a prequel or otherwise largely removed from however UC4 ends. It's incredibly unlikely that we'll be playing as Nate in a time chronologically after UC4's base ending.
It sounds like it's on par with Metal Gear Rising for combat depth but worse than that game in all other aspects. Still, MGR's a high bar to reach and I'm still looking forward to getting my preorder.
@get2sammyb Did you get far enough to try out Uncharted 3's new cheats? Mirror mode and such? That's the big draw for me since that was the biggest sign UC3 was rushed.
I dunno. Tearaway on Vita was one of very few great games based around hardware gimmicks, and the PS4 version loses a lot in translation with the more limited controller. Tapping the back touch to activate the drumskins is way more satisfying than pressing the touch pad for some reason.

Re: Soapbox: Why Mad Max Is a Hugely Overlooked Game
It's definitely one of the better games that uses the Ubisoft open world design document, but it's still very much open world 101.
Re: Feature: The Best PlayStation Soundtracks of 2015
Yeah, Syndicate's is pretty damn good.
Re: Feature: 27 PS4 Exclusives to Anticipate in 2016
2016 wishlist:

Re: Gigantic EU PS4, Vita January PlayStation Store Sale Will Empty Your Wallet
Looks like people are taking full advantage - my connection to the store has been awful this morning.
Re: Uncharted 4's Been Delayed Yet Again on PS4
Uncharted 4
Star Fox Zero
Ratchet and Clank
Dark Souls 3
All now due in April. Jeez.
Re: Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection Gets a Crap New Cover
This makes me wish that only first run copies had the gold cover.
Then at least they'd be something of a collector's item.

Re: Naughty Dog Really Wants You to Believe That Drake Will Die in Uncharted 4
That look like the ending of Last Crusade to anyone else?

Re: Hideo Kojima Partners with PlayStation to Deliver Compelling New PS4 Exclusive
That white man speaks excellent Japanese.
Re: New Hot Shots Golf Looks a Bit Rough on PS4
Don't worry @get2sammyb, I got the pun in the title even if no one else did
Re: People Think Demon's Souls May Die Again on PS4
I'd buy it.
But I bought GoW 3 Remastered so I'm a sucker for this stuff.
Re: It Sounds Like You'll Need Just Cause 3's Day One Patch on PS4
@shogunrok Review date?
Re: Guide: How to Beat Bloodborne: The Old Hunters' Bosses
Seriously, f*** the Orphan. I thought Ludwig was bad.
Re: Review: Bloodborne: The Old Hunters (PS4)
@get2sammyb Not to go off topic too much, but are you able to say if and when the Just Cause 3 review embargo lifts?
Re: Telltale to Sit Atop the Iron Throne for Game of Thrones: Season 2
Telltale. Actually love you.
Re: PlayStation 2 Emulation All But Confirmed for PS4
I've got way too many PS2 discs for this to be of any interest to me if it won't run them.

Dis gon b gud.
Re: Expect More PS4 Games from Naughty Dog After Uncharted 4
Yeah, evidence seems to be mounting for Last of Us 2.
After that I hope we get the start of a new IP too.
Re: Talking Point: Should Sony Build an Elite DualShock 4 Controller for PS4?
I wouldn't mind seeing the D-Pad replaced with something closer to the Vita's.
Re: Will Fallout 4's Robot Butler Say Your Name?
Wow. That's an insane amount of work for the voice actor, unless that robot has a robot-generated voice.
Re: Accessory Review: PS Vita Cases Don't Come Much Slicker Than This
It just looks like a case. A $60 case no less.
Re: Paris Games Week 2015: You've Still Got to Wait Quite a While for No Man's Sky on PS4
I'm glad they left in some unflattering pop-in. It shows this is actually in-engine and in a game like this it's fair enough.
Re: Paris Games Week 2015: Uncharted 4's Multiplayer Mode Emerges from Knee-High Cover

On the other UC3's MP (not to mention TLoU's) was fantastic so I can't wait to play.
Re: Guide: What Time Is Sony's Paris Games Week Press Conference?
So 1AM for New Zealand...
That gives you 8 hours to have all the news up in individual articles for me, @get2sammyb!
Re: Review: Assassin's Creed Syndicate (PS4)
@Gamer83 AC2 was a great game but I'd hesitate to say it holds up now.
AC4's still great though. That's probably the best entry point now with the possible exception of Syndicate.
Re: Feature: What PS4 Announcements Should You Expect at Paris Games Week?
Uncharted, No Man's Sky and Nier for me plz.

Re: Is This a Thief's End for Nolan North as Uncharted 4 Mocap Concludes?
Only Nolan North could stand there in a suit like that with a pose like that and look badass.

I'll play anything by Platinum.
Except Scalebound because no Xbox.

Re: Rumour: Is Sony Preparing a Shock No Man's Sky Release?
The last few times I hoped this would happen (Last of Us Remastered, Last Guardian) I was completely wrong, so I'm going to go with no.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 88
Maybe try to play some more Witcher 3. There's absolutely no chance of getting even half way done before the DLC comes out thought.
Re: Poll: Which Uncharted Game Would You Crown as Your Fave?
UC3 has a terribly uncohesive story, but all the rest of it is fantastic.

Pre-ordered the Limited Edition but still not even half way through the main game...
Re: Far Cry Primal Takes You to the Stone Age in February 2016
I wonder how they'll incorporate all the Ubisoft open-world staples into the stone age.
Treasure chests didn't exist yet, right?
Re: Ubisoft Unleashes Its Inner-Caveman with Teaser Stream
