Re: Reaction: Sony Poised to End 2022 without Major Press Conference

Sam_ATLUS

I would really like some kind of PS Showcase and their silence hasn't been ideal. But considering I'm already looking at 2023 which has Persona 4 Golden, Forspoken, Like A Dragon Ishin, Eternights, Stellar Blade, FF16 and Spider-Man 2 it's not like I'm going to be short of games to play next year. 2023 looks set to be a year where I will have a game to play on the console nearly every month, something I haven't been able to say for it during 2022 which didn't have much that interested me. It would be nice if Sony could actually communicate a bit more they just randomly drop stuff these days now, it works I guess but kind of anti climatic when you could make a big deal about something like GOW Ragnarok release date or VR2. I just hope we start getting new announcements next year on what to expect, 2023 is looking pretty good right now imo but I want to know more about what we are getting through that year and going beyond into 2024.

Re: Deal: Black Friday Is the Best Time to Extend Your PS5's Storage

Sam_ATLUS

@KidBoruto The internal PS5 storage has a read/write speed of 5,500 MB/s. SSD drives can have a higher speed of up to 7,000 MB/s, for example my PS5 SSD is from Western Digital and has a read speed of up to 7300 MB/s. So with a higher speed it makes for much faster times when it comes to not just downloading games but the loading times when playing them

God of War Ragnarok (hopefully finishing the story this weekend). Then I should get back to Star Ocean The Divine Force, or maybe finally stop holding off FF7R Intergrade. Crisis Core is coming out soon and I need to play Remake again as well as do the Yuffie DLC. Just debating whether to wait to do it over Christmas or invest that time into the PS5 version of Persona 5 Royal I nabbed off Amazon on Black Friday (40% off the launch edition, how could I say no?).

Re: Deal: Black Friday Is the Best Time to Extend Your PS5's Storage

Sam_ATLUS

I bought a 2TB SSD for £169.99 last Friday and I don't regret it. No need to worry about storage for all the upcoming releases, and games download so much faster. I redownloaded Elden Ring and that took around 3 hours for me originally, with the SSD it only took 35 minutes. I recommend picking one up if you want more space and better download times

Re: Microsoft Admits Its Games Are Worse Than Sony's

Sam_ATLUS

This whole deal is so tiresome at this point. Microsoft constantly saying how unreliable their services like cloud streaming are, they have no games and Activision isn't worth 70 billion. Meanwhile Sony is acting like their life depends on Call of Duty and without it they have nothing despite their own line up of exclusives and timed deals with third parties like Square Enix. Both companies look so silly, even if I'm not surprised why Sony is so desperate to keep COD because of how much money it makes. But it's been nearly a year now seeing them say all the stuff and being confused by what the COD deals are. We go from Sony got this many years for COD to COD isn't going anywhere at all. I can't wait for this deal to be completed so both companies can stop whining and we go back to getting quality games.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 452

God of War Ragnarok. It's so nice to have a big PlayStation game to enjoy again, I haven't had much motive to use my PS5 for a while. Thankfully that won't be a problem soon with Crisis Core FF7, Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden, Forspoken, Like A Dragon Ishin and all the others game due out in 2023 yet.

Re: Poll: Did You Buy God of War Ragnarok?

Sam_ATLUS

My copy got delivered this afternoon and I've played one hour of it so far. So many accessibility options and the game jumps straight into the action. My delivery guy said everyone he's delivered to today is for a game and I told him it's a pretty big one loads have been waiting for. I got a few days off so in the mean time I'll keep myself warm in bed while playing this game.

Re: Final Fantasy 16 Is Exclusive to PS5 for Six Months, Sony Confirms

Sam_ATLUS

6 months of exclusivity seems pointless to me. If I was Sony I'd be trying to get at least one year of exclusivity if I wanted people to buy the game and my console. Why not just release it day one on PC instead of a 6 month gap? Seems like a waste of money. Not that it bothers me because I can still play the game day one but these timed exclusive deals are just weird to me. Surely you could fund your own game with that money instead? Curious if it will hit Xbox though. 2 and a half years later we are yet to see Final Fantasy VII Remake hit Xbox and it's on Steam.

Re: Valkyrie Elysium (PS5) - Quality Combat Elevates Drab Action RPG

Sam_ATLUS

I played the demo and it's alright. Honestly what I expected from it. This feels like a get on sale game to me, with it being around 20 hours to beat the story, apparently having multiple endings and getting new content in November I think from a sale around £30 I'll get my value out of it. Story and characters might not be great but if the gameplay is fun I can put that aside.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 445

Sam_ATLUS

Bought Ghostwire Tokyo and Scarlet Nexus from Amazon for £50 for the PS5 so I'll be playing Ghostwire Tokyo this weekend. 3 hours in so far I'm enjoying it. After reading so many mixed reviews I ended up deciding that it was one I had to play to know if it would be for me. It's far from perfect but it's just fun wandering around in Shibuya petting cats and dogs, freeing spirit and fighting enemies.

Re: Talking Point: Is a PlayStation Showcase Really Happening This Year?

Sam_ATLUS

@Uncharted2007 Third parties have always been part of PlayStation's identity. Some of the biggest games on that system like Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid were third party games. Even a lot of series I identify with PlayStation such as Yakuza and Persona are third party games. Sony has always had their first party games but only in recent years does it feel like they've tried to push their first party games more compared to the past. Due to many series going multi platform over time, with other options like PC and Switch popping up PlayStation has lost a lot of that identity as being the only place to play these unique experiences. I still enjoy playing the brand and it has the games I want but it lacks a lot of the identity it once had years back especially on PS1 and PS2.

Re: Poll: Rate Your Favourite PS4 Games

Sam_ATLUS

13 Sentinels Aegis Rim
Persona 5 Royal
Yakuza 0
Lost Judgment
Nier Automata
Ghost of Tsushima
Marvel's Spider Man
AI The Somnium Files
Uncharted 4
God of War
I've played quite a few PS4 games but these are the ones that I remember enjoying the most. And I still have plenty of them to play as well. PS4 was such a great system with so many games

Re: Square Enix Showcases 20 Full Minutes of Octopath Traveler 2 Gameplay

Sam_ATLUS

@Ralizah This is exactly why I don't believe the Square Enix rumours. Almost all acquisitions that have happened are not hinted at before, just suddenly announced on social media where as people have been saying for months Sony has already done the Square Enix acquisition. Pretty sure they would have had to announce that by now and acquisitions aren't really something that are leaked compared to actual video games. More or less rumours that people say because they want it to happen.

Re: Sony Won't Let Microsoft's $69 Billion Activision Acquisition Go, Stresses It's Bad for Gaming

Sam_ATLUS

Losing COD is a massive blow to Sony, think of all the money they get from that. Most gamers might think it's trash but to them it is a money maker, of course they will fight tooth and neck to keep them coming to their console. If I was Sony though at this point in the background I'd be working on trying to fund games similar to things like COD that would work as a replacement with the mindset "We are losing COD we need to provide our own FPS to take it's place". Yeah it most likely won't make as much money for them but it provides an alternative to something they could be losing.

Re: Sony Won't Let Microsoft's $69 Billion Activision Acquisition Go, Stresses It's Bad for Gaming

Sam_ATLUS

@SinfulDestroyer Exclusive DLC is ridiculous admittedly and shouldn't be a thing, that should be accessible to all players and is a weird strategy with some companies to get you to purhcase the game on their system. But Insominac didn't make that many multi platform games, only two that come to mind is Fuse with EA which wasn't well received and Sunset Overdrive which while praised, didn't do as well as it could because it released on the Xbox One. Isomniac only had a brief experiment with multi plat games compared to other developers, they mostly developed games only for PlayStation for 20+ years and not only did it already feel like they were a Sony owned studio but their games thrived on PlayStation. So them being bought by Sony was more a "how did it take this long?" reaction with their close partnership.

Re: Reaction: Sony's Struck State of Play Gold Not Once, But Twice in a Row

Sam_ATLUS

And the Snitch said this was going to be a disappointing SOP with minor games. I thought this was an excellent State of Play. Finally getting the Yakuza Ishin games localized, seeing PS5 exclusives like Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronin and a small peak at more God of War Ragnarok. I'm not a fighting game guy but Tekken 8 looked incredible. Even the smaller things like the VR2 games and the indies weren't too bad either. I really hope if Sony does more State of Plays they are every few months like this with this length but have content like this that makes it a worthwhile 20 minutes compared to some of the underwhelming ones we've had in the past. I don't think SOP is perfect yet but I feel they have been much more tolerable this year compared to the past.

Re: Judgment, Lost Judgment Rated for PC, Could Be a Good Sign for Series' Future

Sam_ATLUS

@Beerheadgamer82 I wasn't expecting much from Kaito Files but it delivered more Judgment goodness even if it was only 9 hours for me. LAD I can only wander around a bit before having to dealing with enemies again. Just feel like I don't get to explore Ijincho as much and only got to appreciate it with Lost Judgment. Maybe the next Judgment could have Kaito and Yagami playable? Would mix things up

Re: Rumour: Lower Your Expectations for Tonight's State of Play

Sam_ATLUS

I never expect much from State of Play to begin with, those tend to be on the shorter side and just give small game announcements. I expect more from a PlayStation Showcase which we could do with considering we don't know what else to expect from Sony after God of War Ragnarok. It feels like people hate every State of Play yet still somehow have expectations for the next one. Best thing to do with this and Nintendo Directs are go in with no expectations so when its really good it will feel great.

Re: Judgment, Lost Judgment Rated for PC, Could Be a Good Sign for Series' Future

Sam_ATLUS

@Beerheadgamer82 I enjoyed Yakuza LAD on my first run (probably due to playing several of the games in one go) but after playing Lost Judgment on PS5, then playing LAD on it again I didn't enjoy it as much. Ijincho felt so much more enjoyable in Lost Judgment with Yagami being able to skate around and the combat being perfected. I hope to see more Judgment games come
