Re: Sony Will Help Fund Indie Games in India as Hero Project Expands

Sam_ATLUS

But people online told me Sony hates indie games. I don't think Sony hates indies, more so they'd rather support indie developers with funding and marketing than make those games themselves
They marketed games like Kena, Stray and Sifu in State of Play. Have began offering indies like Tchia and Humanity on PS Plus day one. And China Hero Project which has been showing promise as Sony invests more money into development, even publishing some titles

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Future Redeemed this weekend. Amazing DLC, Monolith Soft never misses
And when I finish I'll be sure to jump back into FE Engage which I started playing again before the DLC dropped as it got caught with many other releases from earlier in the year like Persona 4 Golden, Like A Dragon Ishin and Octopath Traveler II

Re: Persona 3 Remake Is Reportedly Real and In Development

Sam_ATLUS

I wouldn't mind Persona 3 Remake happening. I find Persona 3 the hardest to play as FES can be slow with the gameplay and getting tired in Tartarus happens very easily, and while Portable has enhancements it's not the same. A P3 remake that adds QOL improvements to the base game of FES sounds great, and if they even add the Portable side of things to the game then we have the best version of Persona 3

Re: Rumour: Persona 3 Remake Gameplay 'Leak' Is Going Viral

Sam_ATLUS

@ShogunRok You couldn't even pre-order the games on the eShop or PS Store either, you had to wait until release day to pay while on Xbox you could pre-order the games. It was a weird situation of Xbox trying to make the platform the face of Persona, when it had a 25 year history on PlayStation and other platforms like Switch had major port begging of the titles for years. It bugged me to see Atlus talk about all platform releases and refuse to mention anything that wasn't Microsoft related. It was like they were holding a gun at their head as they typed the tweet. I don't think it even took 24 hours for sites to leak it was also coming to PS and Switch, which many thought was the case but at the time it was anyone's guess. You didn't know if Microsoft had made a deal to just the games for Xbox alone, or it was a multi plat release Microsoft had dibs on announcing. Never seen anything like it before. I don't recall Sony or Nintendo ever doing the same with a multi platform title. Obviously they wouldn't say if it was coming to Xbox or PC in their own show but you would soon know shortly after on social media. This was on a completely new level.

Re: Rumour: Persona 3 Remake Gameplay 'Leak' Is Going Viral

Sam_ATLUS

@Rob_230 @KaijuKaiser That 48 hour embargo was weird. I swear though Microsoft marketed Persona 5 Royal on Xbox, an enhanced version of a 5 year old game exclusive to PS4 more than any of their own games. And then barely bothered with P3P and P4G. It was funny to see it get pushed so much for that console when Switch owners were the ones screaming for it, and probably where most sales went for those re-releases.

@Rob_230 I think people forget at times just how much Sony helped with Yakuza. They were the only platform to accept the game's pitch. On top of that they were the reasons Yakuza 5 left Japan, at a time when SEGA was burned from releasing Yakuza games outside Japan after the games didn't do well on PS3, by offering to fund the game's localization. Around that time again they started to release Yakuza games in the west again, with Yakuza 0 being the series's big moment. Sony has also popped up in the credits at times, even if it's just a small number of stuff providing support or localization in other regions.

Re: Rumour: Persona 3 Remake Gameplay 'Leak' Is Going Viral

Sam_ATLUS

@BeerIsAwesome I always find it amusing when Xbox has gotten a series heavily associated with PlayStation like Tomb Raider, Yakuza and Persona, and tried to push that Xbox is the home of this series
Persona was funny because Atlus would say for all platforms and then only mention Xbox and Windows whenever they listed platforms for the games on their tweets

Re: Almost Every Mainline Final Fantasy Game Will Soon Be Playable on Current PlayStation Consoles

Sam_ATLUS

It's really nice to have nearly all the Final Fantasy games on a PlayStation console again. Steam has pretty much been the Final Fantasy machine for years. The last PlayStation console to be close to a FF machine was Vita, which had FF1-10. Even if FF13 is heavily disliked I would still like to have it bought over to PS4/PS5 just so it could all be here. It would be a good look for the brand, especially when we all know Sony is going to want PS5 to be the home of Final Fantasy

Re: Sony Claps Back at UK Regulator's 'Irrational' Reversal on Microsoft Activision Deal

Sam_ATLUS

The comments about a downgraded version of COD would ruin them is ridiculous. If anything, that would hurt Microsoft's image if they were to release that on PlayStation. But my god just let this deal go through already I'm so sick of it already. This deal has brought out the worst in both companies. Xbox fanboys are invested in this acquisition like their life depends on it. PlayStation fanboys are just saying dumb stuff at this point. Just approve the deal, accept it and move on. Start giving us stuff to be excited for. Give Stellar Blade and Spider-Man 2 a release date. Show off Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Announce first party titles. PS isn't about COD. It's about the quality games from first and third party studios.

Re: Random: Sony Shoehorns PS5 Ad into Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Trailer

Sam_ATLUS

@nomither6 I doubt they'd go back to Activision. Marvel was not happy with the quality of the games under them and ended their contract early. When Activision asked "what are you going to do with this IP?", Marvel said "I'm going to find a better home for it", and Activision said "Good luck finding your unicorn". Sony was their unicorn. They not only released an excellent game but it was extremely successful compared to the multiplat ones. Marvel has no reason not to keep licencing these games to Sony when it's mutually beneficial for both sides.

Re: Shuhei Yoshida Wants to Change the Way Indie Developers Perceive PlayStation

Sam_ATLUS

Crazy that people once mocked the PS4 for being the IndieStation 4, and these days I see people complain about the lack of indies. Sony has been trying more with indies but improvements could still be made. The PS Store does have a section called PlayStation Indies but featuring more indies on Plus day one would help. Game Pass features a lot of indies like Tunic, Death's Door and Vampire Survivors day one which has most likely helped Xbox fans gain more interest in playing indie games.

Re: Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores Introduces the Waterwing in New Footage

Sam_ATLUS

I couldn't get into Forbidden West when I played it last year but having just finished the original FF7, I'm considering giving the game another go as it dropped on PS Plus and the DLC is coming out soon. Maybe it will click with me this time. I've had trouble getting into Xenoblade Chronicles 1, Astral Chain, Persona 3 FES and other games before they all grew on me

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 469

Sam_ATLUS

Taking a break from Octopath 2. As fun as it is, I've played nearly 50 hours. Instead this weekend, I will be playing the original FF7. I've been overdue to play it for a long time, especially with FF7 Rebirth out, but after earlier in the week I got spoiled on something I decided to finally jump into it. I can't get too mad as it's a 26 year old game, and if anything I'm glad I did get spoiled because it's pushed me to play FF7 and it's amazing, even if dated. Just got to Nibelheim, which is the furthest I've ever gotten in it. I only ever got out of Midgar playing a few years back

Re: Japan Sales Charts: Huge Drop in PS5 Sales But Still on Top, Just

Sam_ATLUS

@NintendoEternity Mario movie should give the games a big boost in sales, similar to The Last of Us and The Last of Us Part II after the HBO show started airing. TOTK is out in May too, easily Nintendo's biggest release of 2023 so I expect Switch sales will go up again then. I think the demand for PS5 has been met for now though, these last few weeks people can get them. I'm not expecting massive sales for the PS5 to happen again until June when Final Fantasy XVI releases. Will easily be the biggest release for the console unless a new Monster Hunter game somehow misses Switch

Re: Sigh! For the Record, Sony Is Not Making a Superman PS5 Exclusive

Sam_ATLUS

Whoever at Push Square makes these Jim Ryan edits deserve a raise, every time they crack me up. But on the topic of Microsoft saying a single franchise does not push console sales...
Didn't the original Xbox do as well as it did thanks to Halo being exclusive? Final Fantasy VII selling PS1 consoles? People buying a PS3 just mere months before the PS4 came out for The Last of Us? People buying Nintendo handhelds just for Pokemon? Or Nintendo home consoles just to play Mario Kart? There are various examples of a console selling well thanks to the exclusivity of a game and Microsoft knows that. They bought Bethesda who owns franchises like Elder Scrolls and Fallout. Skyrim was one of the biggest games of the 7th generation. They want these IPs so they can sell Xbox/Game Pass to consumers. And Call of Duty is a big IP. They might be promising to keep it to other systems now but in a decade they can easily pull the plug and restrict access to it on just Xbox and Steam. That could easily get loads of the casuals that just play FIFA/COD/GTA to swap consoles

Re: Trails to Azure (PS4) - Amazing Sequel Has Some of Trails' Best Storytelling

Sam_ATLUS

Still need to beat the first game but happy to hear the second game is even better. Honestly the lack of graphical enhancements aren't the end of the world. I played the game on Switch before feeling it wasn't right and picking up a PS4 copy, and I had just as much fun playing on it. The enhancements are nice but not the end of the world. It's a Nihon Falcom game at the end of the day which are hardly known for being amazing in the graphics department

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 465

Sam_ATLUS

Will be playing the long awaited Like A Dragon Ishin this weekend. You can feel in some areas this game was made as a PS3 title but it's still a fun time switching between the different combat modes and engaging in the bizarre substories the game has to offer. I'll have to resist myself from playing The Legend of Dragoon as well. Despite that game having problems that need fixing I can't keep myself away from it. Such an incredible PS1 gem. I see why so many people wanted a remake now. Crazy week for games, so much on PS outside of the two games I'm playing: Wild Arms 2, VR2 and the 40+ games with it, and Octopath Traveler II. Too many JRPGs coming out for me to keep up with!

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Octopath Traveler 2?

Sam_ATLUS

I'd love to buy it but I got Like A Dragon Ishin and The Legend of Dragoon to play right now, as well as Trails of Zero that still needs finishing with Trails to Azure coming in March. So trying to hold it back a few months
