Saw people on Twitter screaming Sony money hatted this but nowhere did it say it was a timed PS exclusive nor was Sony shouting it like they would with Final Fantasy or Silent Hill. Xbox fans need to stop blaming Sony every time a game skips Xbox. The number of times I've seen people say Sony paid for Octopath 2 even though it's on Switch + PC and Nintendo has been the one showing the games in Directs. Or Pixel Remasters, essentially any game that releases on anything but Xbox.
I wasn't even expecting that much from this State of Play to begin with and I was still disappointed. Incredibly boring show I tried not to fall asleep through. Capcom essentially carried it with Street Fighter 6 and Resident Evil 4 Remake. Even if fighting games are not my thing hard to deny how good Street Fighter 6 looked. I know these games take time but where in the world is Stellar Blade, Spider-Man 2, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth or any kind of first party announcement? There's so much stuff to be excited for but no sign of it.
I really don't know what to expect. Anything I'd like to see isn't realistic to appear from what we know. Just hope the indies and third party games are good
Extremely happy with this month. I don't think Extra has had a really bad month yet but Premium has been lackluster for a while and left me questioning why I have it. But this month has given me games like Wild Arms 2 and The Legend of Dragoon, the kind of titles I want on Premium. Hopefully Premium gets better in the coming months but I'm holding my breath on that
I'll be finishing up Persona 4 Golden on PS5 this weekend and then trying out the Octopath Traveler II demo, along with some more The Legend of Heroes Trails from Zero while I wait for Like A Dragon Ishin to come out Tuesday. I can't keep up with all the releases this year
Interesting line up. I just redownloaded Forbidden West to my PS5 last night. For some reason I thought about playing it again even though I couldn't get into it
I think this game will come to PS, Xbox and PC eventually. Just it's a timed Switch exclusive so they can't say much on it coming to other systems for now. I can't think of many Spike Chunsoft games that have missed PlayStation
@IOI Tbf State of Play was really good in 2022, hopefully Sony has found their footing with them after those ones. They had plenty of interesting games to show and also had Japanese games, something that PS fans complained about the other SOPs lacking. But regarding them being good or bad I think we need any kind of PS show soon, it's been far too long
Persona 4 Golden on PS5 this weekend, still need to finish that and play Trails of Zero Probably just gonna have enough time to beat P4 before Like A Dragon Ishin comes out
This guy is bad he's obsessed with growth!!!!! So basically something that just about every corporation wants to continue steady profits and remain in business
@ShogunRok Crazy when Disgaea 6 sold 23.5k on Switch and 15.7 on PS4 in the first week just two years ago. I saw someone that analyses a lot of the Japanese sales side of things say that Sony had the marketing rights for Disgaea 7 in Japan and might have affected sales as they would have mistaken it for being a PS exclusive. Even so that's still a big decrease in sales for the Switch version, and the PS4 and PS5 versions must have sold at max 6K or under
Really neat marketing from Sony recently. I just hope they give us a PlayStation Showcase or State of Play soon. Nintendo fans are constantly screaming they need a Nintendo Direct but PlayStation fans need a show more than them when they have Nintendo releasing a new game nearly every month for the first half of the year. We don't know when Stellar Blade is coming out, haven't seen proper gameplay for Spider-Man 2, have a release date for Eternights or know many first party titles now the big hitters like GOW Ragnarok released. Now is the best time for one
I got emailed one and very much trying to resist the urge to buy a bunch of games from the store when I already have enough. Guilty Gear Strive (35%), Kena (55%) and RE Village (50%) is very tempting. I've also been meaning to pick up Chained Echoes and Valkyrie Profile Lenneth at some point
Got to love the good old goofy side stuff the Yakuza games have to offer. Lost Judgment was the last game in the series I had to finish off and I absolutely loved it, been craving more of the series since and getting this spinoff outside Japan at last is perfect. Day 1 without a doubt and I will be playing this for hours
It's weird seeing Push Square post articles about Famitsu sales the last few months, after being on here for ages and barely seeing anything about them pop up. Guess with PS5 stock in a better state there's actually something to talk about regarding Japan for PlayStation
P4G is one of my favourite games, and probably the game that really got me into the PlayStation eco system when I played it on my Vita. To see it finally playable on PS4/PS5 after all these years is great. I was convinced we'd never see the day but somehow Atlus did it. This game will easily be worth the price point
@Zemo55 I haven't played my PS5 as much as I would like, most of the games I've been interested in 2022 came out on Switch so I spent roughly 1000 hours on that and 500 on PS5. But this year there is A LOT coming out on PS5 so those numbers should be way higher
So excited to play this game in June. I think it will perform very well. Well maybe not Japan... PS5 has sold 2 million in Japan but sales for software are non existent and they love the Switch too much. I'd love for it to perform really well there but I don't see it at the moment, I can't imagine it selling nearly 1 million in the first week like most FF games first week sales at the moment. But outside of Japan I see the game doing great. I've pre-ordered the expensive limited edition for it. Hope Square Enix and Sony will keep pushing a huge marketing campaign for it in the lead up to release
I'm planning to get the Platinum for this and Persona 4 Golden again (did it once on Vita). P3P is definitely gonna take a while as when I played Persona 3 in the past one run took over 100 hours. P4G is shorter and I know that game so well at this point it should be quicker to Platinum. However I only played P3 once and with two runs for each character that will take plenty of my time. At least it will keep me busy while I wait for Like A Dragon Ishin.
It'd be neat if the PS4 version got updates to be on par with the Switch and PC version. It's playable but it looks so much better on Switch which is a shame because I'd love to stick to playing all the Legend of Heroes games on PlayStation but at this rate I'm probably playing the Trails game on Switch
@WallyWest Considering next year is full of PS5 only games, as well as future games like Rise of the Ronin, Wolverine, FF7 Rebirth and Death Stranding 2, as well as Horizon Burning Shores DLC being PS5 only I think it's safe to say Sony is going to begin fully putting their attention on next gen now. Only games I'm expecting to be cross gen now are live service games which make sense when you want to reach as many people as possible
@Luigia Yoshi-P mentioned early on they were considering a PS4 version for this game, which is why it didn't say PS5 exclusive in the first trailer and just PlayStation exclusive. But they decided not to because they wanted to be able to provide a fast paced experience between gameplay and story with no loading times which is for the best
@Cyberpsycho I got the CE ordered as well. Very excited to see where the game goes considering it has a more mature story. And I feel this will really show us what next gen can do, which is what I've been waiting for. Much as I love the PS4 it will be 10 next year and with PS5 stock finally starting to improve, 2023 is the best time to retire it. Let's see what the PS5 is capable of without being held back by PS4
My wallet is terrified for 2023. I already have P3P, P4G, Like A Dragon Ishin, GrimGrimoire and Final Fantasy XVI and then there's other games like Like A Dragon The Man Who Erased His Name, Stellar Blade, Spider-Man 2, Little Devil Inside and Eternights that are still due a release date. I'm in fear that I will have a new game I want to buy every month in 2023. But hey at least it will mean I get good value out the console. I already played 500+ hours this year since getting it so I can't complain I haven't made good use of the console even if I was on Switch a lot more. Next year will remind me exactly why I bought a PS5 to begin with
I knew the PS4 version of Crisis Core would outsell the Switch version, but even the PS5 version? That's crazy when PS5 software sales have been non-existent. I guess Jim Ryan wasn't lying when he said they had sorted stock issues out for the console. I remember people calling him a liar after he said that. 70K has to be the highest in a long time. Not a bad week for PlayStation in Japan I suppose but I wouldn't be shocked if it we see a big dip in a week, it never seems to last long. Hopefully Sony will be able to keep meeting demand and we see steady PS5 sales onwards, as well as more games in the software charts. I imagine they will be trying to get as many units there as possible ready for FF16
@ThomasHL @FatalBubbles @Darude84 I ended up picking up the Ultimate Edition of Arise on sale and have played 10 hours. I heard people say the game has a drop in the second half but so far it's been really fun.
I was luckily able to nab a physical copy of this for the PS4. 2023 continues to be packed with releases. 2 Persona games and 7 Final Fantasy games (8 if Rebirth actually comes out in late 2023 which I doubt)...
Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion on PS5, played through FF7R Intergrade before this came out and have been craving more Final Fantasy since. Crisis Core has been very fun so far, the side content has been pretty addicting. I'm hoping the Pixel Remasters that were rated for PS4 and Switch not long ago will get dropped in the next week for FF 35th anniversary. Would be great timing as I have two weeks off and outside finishing Ghostwire Tokyo I am not sure what else I'll be playing.
2023 is looking to be really good with PS5 exclusives like Stellar Blade, FFXVI and Spider-Man 2, as well as third party releases like Persona 4 Golden and Like A Dragon Ishin. Just need more first party announcements
Glad Atlus is pricing these reasonably. P4G would be worth full price but when the game is £15.99 on Steam and £7.99 on the Vita Store I think it needs to be at least the same, if not a tiny more than Steam
I'd rather we got a new IP from Naughty Dog. After 2 gens of Uncharted and The Last of Us I feel we could do with something new. I'd rather they give TLOU a couple years break before making a third game
