@TheArt Sony helped fund Street Fighter V so that one being exclusive was understandable at least, like how Bayonetta 2 was funded by Nintendo. But honestly unless the games need Sony or Microsoft to provide funding that makes it exclusive I'd prefer for them just not to pay for exclusivity for a limited time and put that money towards developing another game instead. And Microsoft also did the same timed exclusivity stuff that Sony was doing with games like Deathloop/Ghostwire/Final Fantasy during the Xbox 360 era so both sides have been guilty of it, they also paid for Rise of The Tomb Raider to be a timed exclusive on Xbox One. Just seems to be more frequent from Sony these days and I feel like Microsoft's purchase will only make them keep doing deals like that with companies such as Square Enix.
I forgot this guy existed, I haven't heard him say anything in years. I don't think anything he has analyzed has been correct. And while I find this deal a bit odd I'm sure Sony has a reason for it that will become clear in time.
To all UK people which I imagine is a good portion of people here, you can now connect your Discord and PSN together, it's available as of this morning I've connected mine.
Hopefully Square Enix won't do a Konami and celebrate by selling FF7 NFTs. Jokes aside, I still need to beat the original FF7: I've played past Midgar but stopped for some reason despite enjoying it. I did play FF7 Remake a few months back when it was free which has raised my interest to play FF7 again so I can be ready for Remake Part 2 but with how long SE will take I'm probably safe for the next 3 years.
Finishing up the story in Lost Judgment this weekend after spending almost 3 weeks of focusing on the never ending side content in this game. After that I haven't a clue what to play next, so much but don't know what I fancy. Maybe something on the smaller scale.
The leakers from the past few months must have saw the list and thought "nah this ain't worth it". But with Sifu, Dying Light 2, Horizon Forbidden West and Elden Ring all out in February I think most people will be far too busy focusing on those to care about Plus games. Nothing here that appeals to me so I'll be skipping February's Plus games.
Did people actually think anything like BC was going to come out of this? I knew right away this would be nothing special but everyone overhyped it and is now blaming Sony for disappointment when they came to the conclusion themselves. Also as much as BC is handy I swear a lot of people complain they need it and barely use it. It's handy for the odd game and having to not get out an old system but it's one of those things I see people screaming for.
@Kidfunkadelic83 I wasn't feeling too hot on Ratchet and Clank at the beginning but the more I played the more I enjoyed it. I've enjoyed the platformers we've been getting from Sony lately. I've been holding off re playing Spider-Man on PS5 because I played through both games on PS4 last year so I've trying to hold both those until Spider-Man 2 is closer to coming out. I'm mainly focusing on my PS5 library for the time being with games I missed out on last year, or upgrades like Ghost of Tsushima Iki Island or FF7R Intergrade but once I begin to run out of those I'll be digging through the backlog of PS4 games. Was thinking of getting a replay of Horizon Zero Dawn before Forbidden West releases but idk if that will be happening yet with how much I'm finding to play.
@Kidfunkadelic83 Astro was the first PS5 Platinum I got, it's a fun and easy one, same with Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart. What have you been playing recently? I've played a few cycles of Returnal before sticking with Lost Judgment permanently and I'm overwhelmed with so much side stuff already I've barely done any story almost 20 hours in.
@OneWingedAngel These exact reasons are why I stick with PlayStation as a brand, not only do they have first party games that appeal to me but also a load of third party Japanese games that are usually exclusive or come to the system first. I just feel at home on PlayStation with all of these, Xbox doesn't feel like a system for me because it lacks a lot of these and Nintendo works well as a secondary console for me with some exclusives like Fire Emblem and third party releases such as SMT V but usually the majority of games I'm interested in playing are on PlayStation so I stick with it as my preferred console.
The PS1 didn't get discontinued until 2006 which was the same year the PS3 came out. The PS2 didn't get discontinued until 2013 which was the same year the PS4 came out. The PS3 didn't get discontinued until 2017. Sony still manufactures these years after release as budget options, the PSOne was a great example of that which was still selling like hotcakes despite the PS2 being out and being able to play PS1 games because of the price point. Not to mention the PS4 still has a lot of popularity and plenty of amazing games to play, of course Sony are still going to manufacture some PS4's the system isn't most likely getting discontinued until 2023. PlayStation consoles usually have a 10 year life cycle. But nope people have to overreact. And I don't know why Xbox fans were bragging so much about PS4 production being continued while Xbox One production ended when it just shows the PS4 has continued interest while there's a lack of interest in the Xbox One and the Series S costs as much as one. But anything to shed Sony in a negative light.
@__jamiie difference is almost every game, if not all the games those studios made were for PlayStation only with Sony who bought them after years of working together and being satisfied with their work. It's not like these studios were big AAA publishers releasing on multiple platforms for years that were bought up, that's why it doesn't have a big impact because they were already known for making games on PlayStation and some were a matter of when. Imagine someone being angry at Sony for buying Sucker Punch when apart from an N64 game they had spent the last decade making Sly Cooper and Infamous and that it would block them from experiencing those IPs on other platforms that were owned by Sony.
@Texan_Survivor FromSoftware is already owned by Kadokawa Corporation but Sony has a stake in Kadokawa. I'm sure if they could have they would have bought FromSoftware by now, they seem to have a very good relationship.
I wouldn't count on it. Microsoft assured us nothing would change when they purchased Bethesda we'd still see games but a year later and we know we're not getting anything from them after Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo which were exclusive deals made before the purchase. So I'm not expecting the same to happen with Activision.
Finished Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart during the week and did my first session of Returnal, then jumped into Lost Judgment. Going to be switching between the two games. I wasn't originally interested in Returnal but after spending almost 100 hours in Hades on my Nintendo Switch and loving it I decided to try Returnal. Safe to say I really enjoyed what I played but I find when playing roguelikes to have another game on the go so I can play a few hours of it before feeling worn out and swapping to something else. I had some issues with the first Judgment on PS4 but Lost Judgment is looking to improve on a lot of the areas I disliked with the first game so hoping that delivers.
I love the PS5 so far having spent a week gaming on it but it is really hard to convince people to spend £450 on one when while there are good games on it a lot of them are cross gen and the only next gen exclusives that come to mind worth while are Astro's Playroom, Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart, Demon's Souls and Returnal. I could only really recommend it right now to someone that's a massive PlayStation fan like myself or if you've had a PS4 for years and it's on the way out. The very few games I've played have looked and played great, hoping Sony starts announcing more games this year that will be PS5 exclusive and we're jump into 2023 with plenty to look forward to. I believe that third and fourth year will be a period where PS5 peaks with hits similar to PS4 and gets lots of people on board. I'm really excited for the future of it.
The guys behind this game really don't do themselves any favors, such as when John Garvin had a go at people who didn't buy Days Gone at full price or got it on Plus, or Jeff Ross saying the game sold this many copies when it wasn't accurate and trying to take away attention from Ghost of Tsushima's success. They just come across as very bitter to me when articles like this continue to pop up relating to the game.
@Hootnoodle I actually do have The Pathless, I got it along with Demon's Souls from a seller on Ebay both brand new. I played around with it for half hour yesterday evening and had a fun time with it, I intend to go back to it soon once I've played a few of the bigger titles on my list. Aside from those I need to replay Horizon Zero Dawn before Forbidden West comes out and also finish off the Platinum trophy I missed.
@Kidfunkadelic83 Bluepoint really know how to do a remake/remaster and I'm happy Sony finally got round to purchasing them. Very interested to see what comes from them next. I'm confident whatever it is it'll be great.
@Kidfunkadelic83 I'm slowly starting to get use to how it all works, just have the PS4 one so entrapped in my mind it's going to need time to fully kick in. I've been playing a mix of games after getting 100% in Astro's Playroom and just testing things out before I go back to Ratchet and Clank. I've played a bit of Demon's Souls myself and it not only looks great but probably the best use of the 3D Audio Headset I've seen so far.
@Hootnoodle I was the same on Christmas Eve, couldn't believe they were in stock for a full week. I could only get a bundle with a game so I ended up with Ratchet as I already have Ghost of Tsushima and Miles Morales on PS4 and 3 hours in so far, been having a solid time with it. I'm probably going to try out some of my other PS5 games: Demon's Souls, The Pathless, Returnal and Lost Judgment soon.
@Hootnoodle Same here, I just got my PS5 yesterday afternoon and played through Astro's Playroom, it was so charming and now I'm starting Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart. Did you get it from GAME as well?
I don't expect to see Rangarok out until late 2022 to space it out between Horizon and Gran Turismo not to mention it would make for a great holiday title for Sony which they were leaking in 2021 but for all we know this could come out in the middle of the year. Personally for me I don't see it being ready until late 2022 and I'm fine with that.
Was able to secure a PS5 order from GAME last night with a second DualSense controller and Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart. While it won't be here in time for Christmas this will still be handy for when it arrives in January, looking forward to playing Astro's Playroom!
I'm surprised Sony didn't charge £70 for this, £44.99 and the option to upgrade for £10 isn't too bad of a deal but I bet people out there will be screaming the upgrade should be free. Makes the collection more appealing than it sounded before. Sony seems to just randomly decide prices on their PS5 upgrade games, Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut was full price while Death Stranding was about £40.
So it's Ghost of Tsushima all over again with the Director's Cut. At least there's always physical where you can get both games separately for £15 and can even get them half price sometimes. It would be preferable if the option to buy separately just remained but Sony will be Sony.
Weird to not see GTA V there but at least there's more variety with multiple Switch titles and the usual FIFA and COD taking up the charts because British people just love them for some reason. And MK8D is in the charts as always, never imagined a Wii U game released in 2014 would be selling this well on another platform several years later.
While this sounds like an amazing idea I also have worries about how this will turn out. Will the service be too expensive? How well will the games run? Will we have to stream PS3 games or will they actually work on emulation? Will Sony actually maintain the effort to keep it a strong service? Only time will tell but this could be a great service if done correctly. I also don't see it as a Game Pass competitor because it doesn't offer their first party titles day 1, more of a combination of Plus and Now which frankly should have been done ages ago.
One of the more alright announcements of the State of Play imo. Sure it's not the most amazing game, still looks pretty decent and it's free to play as well. Better than whatever that K-pop game was or the Among Us clone.
When they said a 20 minute State of Play with third party announcements I had expectations incredibly low and I got just what I expected. So many years of Nintendo Directs have led to me going into these kind of streams with low expectations. That being said, Little Devil Inside looked nice.
