Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 184

Storytime7

I've been playing a lot of Switch games lately. I'm playing Blaster Master Zero because I bought it the day it come out, but put off playing it because I was still playing Breath of the Wild. I recently got both Voez and Splatoon 2, so I've been playing those as well.

I'm also playing the original Disgaea, and I'm at the final boss right now. I know there's a lot to do after beating the game, but I don't think I'll bother with much of the post-game content.

Re: PSX 2016: Those Crash Bandicoot PS4 Remasters Look More like Remakes

Storytime7

Anyone else not a fan of how Crash looks in these remakes? Everything else looks fantastic, but I hope this is more than just better looking versions of the games. While I like how faithful these remakes are to the originals, I do hope they at least fix some of the issues with the first game because it does not hold up well.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 89

Storytime7

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PS1 Classics) - I'm playing it for the first time. The gameplay is great, but I wish there wasn't any voice acting. It's so bad in a lot of these old games.
Pikmin 3 (Wii U) - Completed story mode 100%. I might play the mission mode stages just to get even more out of it.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 82

Storytime7

Donkey Kong Country 2 (Wii U VC) - Felt like replaying this, so I bought it on the virtual console a few days ago because I don't own the cartridge anymore. This is still my favorite of the SNES DKC games.
Paper Mario (Wii U VC) - Getting close to the end. I just finished chapter 7.
Splatoon (Wii U) - Splatfests have gotten boring.

If I finish Paper Mario this weekend, I might start playing the Metal Gear series. I've never actually played any of them, and I don't want to play The Phantom Pain until I've played most of the others.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 81

Storytime7

Paper Mario (Wii U VC) - Making good progress with this one. I'm already up to chapter 5.
Splatoon (Wii U) - I hate getting so close to going up a rank, and then losing a few matches in a row because then I have to play even longer to compensate for that. I've been stuck at B+ for a few days now.
Pokemon Alpha Sapphire (3DS) - I watched a little bit of the Pokemon World Championships yesterday, and it made me want to go back to this game.

That's probably it for this weekend. I'm trying not to start anything else until I've beaten Paper Mario.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 80

Storytime7

@hYdeks I already have a copy of TTYD ready to be played, but I wanted to beat Paper Mario first. Before getting it on the virtual console, I had only played through the prologue. I love the Mario & Luigi series and Super Mario RPG, so I figured it was time to finally play the Paper Mario games.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 80

Storytime7

Splatoon (Wii U) - Played a few hours of the new Rainmaker mode, and I don't like it that much. It could've just been the maps I was playing on, but I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as I thought I would.
Paper Mario (Wii U VC) - First time playing this game, and I'm already up to chapter 2. It's a lot of fun.

I have relatives visiting from out of state tomorrow, so I probably won't have much time for any other games this weekend.

Re: Gamescom 2015: We Have Unfinished Business with Tearaway, Says Sony

Storytime7

@get2sammyb I thought LBP was fairly popular? It has to at least be doing well for Sony given how many games they've made. Puppeteer and Tearaway most likely had poor sales because of the way they were released. They were both released in a crowded year, and Tearaway was also on a platform that hasn't sold well. I don't think they would've fared much better as Nintendo exclusives. The 3DS couldn't run those games, and the Wii U has sold poorly.

As for Gravity Rush, I'll wait and see. I wouldn't be surprised if they revealed something at TGS because it does seem like a remaster is in the works, but I try to go into these events without expecting much.

Re: Japanese Sales Charts: Nothing to See Here, Go Back to Gamescom News

Storytime7

@themcnoisy The New 3DS is mostly for better performance on a few games, and faster download speeds when buying digital games. Load times are reduced for Super Smash Bros, c-stick support for Majora's Mask 3D and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, etc. I played Majora's Mask 3D on a regular 3DS, and the lack of camera control wasn't too big a deal because you can just recenter the camera behind Link. Xenoblade Chronicles 3D, and The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth are the only 3DS games that are exclusive to the New 3DS. Xenoblade because it wouldn't run on a regular 3DS, and I think Binding of Isaac is exclusive because the regular 3DS doesn't support the game engine it runs on. The New 3DS is also supposed to have better 3D (face-tracking), but I can't tell you how well it works because I still have the original 3DS.

It's up to you whether the New 3DS will enhance your experience enough to warrant a purchase, but it's by no means necessary to enjoy most 3DS games.

Re: Japanese Sales Charts: Nothing to See Here, Go Back to Gamescom News

Storytime7

@themcnoisy The 3DS is only as good as the games you can play on it, and it succeeds in that regard. The Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask remakes are big improvements over the N64 versions. Mario 64 DS is okay. The new content is great, but the controls and the camera can be an issue at times. I think it's worth playing, but it would've turned out much better if they had waited to remake it on the 3DS. Animal Crossing is fine if you're into those kinds of games. New Leaf is the best in the series, and the one you see at the top of the sales chart is a spin-off that focuses more on designing homes than living in a town.

You'll get a lot out of the 3DS if you like JRPGs and Nintendo games.

Re: Yep, We're Definitely Seeing Dragon Quest XI Tomorrow

Storytime7

@Riririn Good to hear IV is a decent entry point in the series. I'll most likely play V afterwards if I like IV. VIII is another one I've been interested in playing for a while now, but I'm waiting to see how the 3DS version turns out. Assuming it even gets localized.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 77

Storytime7

Arkham City (PS3) - I recently finished Arkham Asylum, and decided to jump straight into the sequel.
Etrian Odyssey II (DS) - Might try to finish up the third stratum.
Splatoon (Wii U) - A new map was released last night. Already got some matches in on it, but I'll probably play it some more today.
Yoshi's New Island (3DS) - I usually only play a few levels at a time, so I probably won't play it much this weekend.

Re: Feature: The Best Games on PS4 - 2015 Edition

Storytime7

I agree with the games on this list, but not the order of them.

@Gamer83 Not to mention that we get closer to potentially generation-defining games (Uncharted 4, Fallout 4, etc) with each passing day. The "no games" argument is not true for any of the consoles in 2015.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 70

Storytime7

Splatoon (Wii U) - I hate that the game rotates which maps you can play on at set times. Why not make it like Mario Kart where players can choose which map they want to play on, and it's decided by randomly selecting one of the stages players voted for? Besides that, it's great. No match feels the same, so the small amount of maps seems like it won't get stale before the free dlc is released.

Stretchmo (3DS) - Getting close to unlocking the final mode.

Mega Man 8 (PSone Classics) - Besides the voice acting, this game's not that bad. Not one of the better games in the series, but still fun.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 69

Storytime7

Castlevania: Circle of the Moon (Wii U VC) - Just started this, and it's already a lot of fun.
Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection (PSP) - I want to finish up the lunar ruins, but I keep putting it off.
Splatoon Global Testfire (Wii U) - I missed out on the demo last week, so I'm excited to play it today.
Stretchmo (3DS) - Going back and forth between the different game modes. Fun game, but I've noticed framerate drops in several levels with larger puzzles.
Yoshi's New Island (3DS) - Almost done with world 3. I like how you can 100% levels without completing every objective in one go, but I hate that checkpoints are so useless in this game. It doesn't help completionists when the star counter is reset to 10 if you die.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 65

Storytime7

Donkey Kong Land III (3DS VC) - Still not as good as the SNES trilogy, but this and DKL2 are a big improvement over the first game.

Etrian Odyssey II (DS) - I regret starting this when I'm playing so many other games. I feel like I can't put in enough time to really get into this game.

Mario Kart 8 (Wii U) - The new DLC tracks are so much fun.

Ratchet and Clank (PS3) - The only game in this series I've played is Size Matters, and I wasn't a big fan of it. I'm hoping I'll like the games in the HD collection more.

Super Mario 3D World (Wii U) - Still trying to 100% this game.
