Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 428

Storytime7

I've had The Last of Us Remastered in my backlog for a long time, and decided last week to finally get around to it (already played the PS3 version back when it came out) because of the remake rumors. That turned into a marathon of the series because I enjoyed it more than I remembered, and I'm aiming to wrap up the second game this weekend.

Also replaying Cuphead because the DLC is coming out soon. It's a lot more fun this time around because I'm just playing casually instead of going for S ranks on all the bosses.

Re: SEGA Says Loads of New Games Are Coming This Year, Including Remakes and Remasters

Storytime7

Ideally:

Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA (an actual new game instead of mostly being a port like Mega Mix was)
Jet Set Radio Future remaster
Persona 4 Golden console ports
Skies of Arcadia port
Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 console ports
Sonic Unleashed port
Valkyria Chronicles 5
Yakuza 8

Some of these remasters/ports wouldn't be of much value for me because I already own them (P4G + Sonic Adventure 1 and 2), but they would still be nice to see. Mostly interested in new games or games that haven't seen a rerelease for a really long time. Also hoping Sonic Frontiers will hit its planned release window, and not feel like it should have been delayed.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 348

Storytime7

Finished Yakuza 0 with a little over 40% on the completion list. I might finish the completion list, but I probably won't bother going for the platinum. Great game, but I really don't feel like playing it again on legend.

Also playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Doom 64 on Switch.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 347

Storytime7

Mostly Yakuza 0. I'm about halfway through the story, and also making decent progress on the completion list. I might go for the platinum if I'm not feeling too burnt out by the time I finish the story.

Also playing a little of Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Super Mario Bros. 35 on Switch.

Re: Soapbox: Sony Is Doing Its Smaller Exclusives a Disservice

Storytime7

This has bothered me for a long time, so I'm glad to see an article about it. Games like Gravity Rush and Tearaway are way more interesting to me than most of Sony's other first-party exclusives.

Some people in the comments are saying these games don't deserve better marketing because they won't sell as much as Sony's bigger IPs, but they still could have been more successful than they were. If Nintendo can turn niche franchises like Fire Emblem and Xenoblade into million sellers, Sony can do the same for some of their less conventional exclusives.

Re: Review: Marvel's Spider-Man (PS4)

Storytime7

After reading the review, I'm probably not going to play this anytime soon. I was already not that interested because it didn't seem like anything I hadn't already played (which the review confirmed), and I'm sick of unnecessary stealth missions.

@jdv95 IGN didn't steal anyone's reviews, Filip Miucin did. Don't blame them for the actions of one person who doesn't even work there anymore.

Re: The Elder Scrolls Legends May Not Launch on PS4 if Sony Doesn't Allow Cross-Play

Storytime7

@adf86 It benefits Sony to support cross play because anti-consumer practices can be used against them in the same way Sony used them against Microsoft in 2013. Remember, people attribute the PS4's success over the Xbox One to the anti-consumer features the Xbox One was going to have when first revealed even though Microsoft went back on those before the console launched. None of the features people complain about PS4 lacking (cross-play, backwards compatability, etc.) are a big deal on their own, but if these little issues keep popping up, it will eventually add up. Brand loyalty can easily be lost.

Also, the reason they're calling others fanboys is because the people who agree with Sony not having cross-play are supporting something that is bad for gamers. At least on a site like this where most of us are PS fans, people are criticizing Sony for not including cross-play because they don't want this company to repeat the same mistakes it made in the early years of the PS3.

You ask what the benefit of including cross-play is, but what's the benefit of omitting it? How many people who already own a console are really going to spend hundreds on a PS4 just to play a game with their friends? Maybe a fair amount, but it's more likely that people would buy a PS4 for the strong lineup of exclusives. Sony doesn't need to divide online communities to drive sales of one of their most successful gaming platforms, but anti-consumer practices like this could hurt them in the long run.

Re: Talking Point: Did Sony PlayStation's E3 2018 Press Conference Deliver?

Storytime7

The show itself was pretty bad, but the content shown off was okay. TLoU 2, Ghost of Tsushima, and Spiderman don't excite me that much, but I'll most likely play them at some point because they do look solid. RE2 was a nice surprise, but I can't really be excited for it without seeing gameplay. Death Stranding doesn't interest me at all, and that trailer went on way too long for how little it actually showed.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 222

Storytime7

Getting close to the end of Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, so I'll probably wrap that up this weekend. I'm also playing Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X, and I might play Splatoon 2 a little to check out the new map.

@KratosMD I thought 3D Land was pretty solid, but on the whole the Mario/Yoshi platformers on the 3DS aren't great. Someone already mentioned this, but definitely consider Planet Robobot after you finish Triple Deluxe. It's even better!

Re: February 2018 NPD: PS4 Wrestles Hardware Crown Off Nintendo Switch

Storytime7

@get2sammyb It does, but that user meant the article's title promotes console wars because the wording ("wrestles" and "crown") makes it sound as if the PS4 "defeated" the Switch. The title could have gotten across that the PS4 was the most successful gaming console in February without making it sound like a competition.

@GigaGaia "It's not all about US"

The user you replied to only mentioned US sales because that's what this entire article is about. Worldwide sales are irrelevant in this discussion.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 211

PS3: Mega Man 10 - I played this a long time ago, but I didn't end up finishing it. It's the only game in the classic Mega Man series I still haven't beaten, so I decided to play it again.
PC: Fate/stay night - I've been putting this off after starting it a long time ago because I'm not that into VNs, but I'm getting back to it because a friend wanted me to read it.
Switch: Splatoon 2 - I recently made an alt account, so I could see how far I can get in the ranked modes using weapons I don't have much experience with.

Re: PSX 2017: MediEvil Rises from Its Grave with a PS4 Remaster

Storytime7

I'm not particularly looking forward to this. I think it's a little hard to get excited about these old franchises returning when it's often just a remaster/remake instead of a new entry in the series.

On the other hand, a Spyro trilogy remake would still be a day one purchase for me...

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 186

Blaster Master Zero (Switch) - I've already completed this 100%, now I'm replaying it to try out the DLC characters.

Splatoon 2 (Switch) - Kelp Dome was one of the best stages in the first game, so I'm really glad they brought it back. I still have to try out the other content added in the recent update.

Uncharted 4 (PS4) - I've had this sitting in my backlog for a long time, and I finally started it earlier today. I'm not a big fan of the Uncharted series, but I'm enjoying it so far. I'm currently at chapter 8.
