Re: Persona 3 Reload's Updated Combat System Looks Ridiculously Cool in Gameplay Breakdown

The_Pixel_King

There’s quite a bit of negativity in the above comments, and with Atlus’ track record of flogging ever improved versions of their games at full price, I completely understand why. Personally I never got around to Persona 5, Royal or otherwise, on PS4, so I did pick up P5R on PS5.

It’s still in the old backlog right now, so by the time I do happen to get around to it, hopefully, the ultimate version of Persona 3 Reload should be out. If it isn’t, I’ll more than likely pick this version up anyway.

At the ripe old age of 50, I’m only just really getting around to the RPG scene, thanks largely to Final Fantasy, so I’m really looking forward to finally playing the Persona games. Long overdue though it is.

I’m currently working my way through Final Fantasy VII Remake. I’m about to start chapter 15 and I’m having a great time with Cloud and company.

My favourite game of the entire year, admittedly to my surprise, was the fabulous Final Fantasy XVI and now I’m completely absorbed in the series. I’ve got Crisis Core lined up for after FF7R, then we have Rebirth in February. Great times indeed.

Have a wonderful weekend my friends!

Re: Bulletstorm VR Drop-Kicked into January 2024 on PSVR2

The_Pixel_King

@Art_Vandelay Oh man, now you’re really pushing me over the edge! I’m a big petrol head and love cars (motorbikes, too). I don’t own a wheel and pedals though, which is a shame. But I’ve done plenty of real track days in my time. And speaking of 3D, I used to love playing my 3DS back in the day. At the time, it was pretty much my favourite console just because of how much I digged the 3D effect.

Under any other circumstances, I’d likely have been tipped over the edge by now and be placing an order as we speak. But I’ve had some really serious health issues in recent years, which resulted in me losing my job and spending an awful lot of time in hospital and having multiple operations. Over £500 for the VR2 is something I just can’t afford right now.

That being said, I play my Switch much less than I used to and I haven’t touched my Series X in the best part of a year. Maybe I should consider selling those two and putting the money towards the VR headset? I’m a huge fan of Resident Evil, I’m a big car fan and Tetris has been one of my favourite series ever since the OG Game Boy. I reckon I’d love Tetris Effect in VR.

Seriously, I’ve gone from not being interested to almost needing a PSVR2 in the space of just a few comments. I’ll at least give it some serious thought now.

@Art_Vandelay Is RE Village really that good on VR2? You’re almost tempting me now. I certainly do love racers and put over 70 hours into Gran Turismo 7 on my way to rolling credits. I’ve also beat both RE4 and 8 on PS5. For me personally, I definitely still need one or two big games to warrant shelling out over £500 on Sony’s new VR unit though. Three or four games (that I’ve already beaten) aren’t enough, especially when we’re slap bang in the middle of a Cost of Living crisis!

@__jamiie If just one or two of these suggestions actually happened or, of course, if we could just get Half-Life: Alyx, I’d be on the PSVR2 train in no time. Sadly, there just isn’t enough for me right now.

However, Bulletstorm VR is definitely a step in the right direction and I’m also hoping PowerWash Simulator VR comes over, too. But where is the first-party support, Sony? Is it coming or am I just Calling into the Mountains?

Re: Audio Experts Are in Love with PS5's New Pulse Explore Earbuds

The_Pixel_King

@koverby Thanks my friend. I know my wife has already bought me Spider-Man 2 and Octopath Traveler II for Christmas, so that’s one avenue firmly shut. And even though my eldest recently finished her doctorate and now has a new job as a qualified clinical psychologist at the Royal London hospital (super proud dad here!) I’d feel awful asking for something so expensive. The only other person (besides Santa himself 😉) is my youngest daughter, and she’s still at uni. I will get them some day though.

I really hope you enjoy them when you pick them up. I’ll look out for any of your comments to see what you think of them! Wishing you a very early happy Christmas!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 502

The_Pixel_King

Having finished Resident Evil 4 last week, I finally picked up the Separate Ways DLC and blasted through the first two chapters yesterday. So that’s definitely on the agenda this weekend. I also finished the rather wonderful career mode in PowerWash Simulator this past week. I only need three more trophies to pop the Platinum, so I’ll see if I can do that too.

Whatever you’re playing, have a great weekend everyone!

Re: Baldur's Gate 3 Dominates Golden Joystick Awards, Wins Game of the Year

The_Pixel_King

My personal Game of the Year goes to the incredible Final Fantasy XVI, a game which surprised me in all the best ways.

Really happy that Ben Starr was recognised for his stellar performance as Clive Rosfield, though Ralph Ineson’s portrayal of the enigmatic Cidolfus Telamon was also top drawer. Now if only there was an award for Boss Fight of the Year… FF16 would have scooped up every nomination!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 501

The_Pixel_King

@freddquadros Thanks for the advice, buddy. I can’t wait to finally play P5R, but I equally want to start both FF7R and Spider-Man because FF7 Rebirth is on the horizon and my wife is getting me Spider-Man 2 for Christmas. I loved Miles Morales, so I’m really excited to play the two main games.

Also, I’m thrilled you’re enjoying FF16 so much. It’s such an incredible game. Just when I thought nothing could beat Tears of the Kingdom as my game of the year, Devil May Clive came along and blew me away! The music, visuals, story, combat and boss fights are all top drawer. It might even be my new favourite game of all time, but I need to let some time pass and see if I still feel the same a few months down the line. Enjoy my friend!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 501

The_Pixel_King

In the last couple weeks, I’ve finished both Final Fantasy XVI and Resident Evil 4, both of which, in my opinion, are 10/10 masterpieces.

With those out of the way, I need to start something new this weekend. It’ll either be Final Fantasy VII Remake, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered or maybe even Persona 5 Royal. Each have been sitting in my backlog for forever, but I’m determined to get at least two of them wrapped up before the year is out. Hopefully I’ll get one of them kicked off today.

Re: Final Fantasy Creator Makes Yoshi-P Cry Live on Stage with Heartfelt Praise

The_Pixel_King

For many, Final Fantasy XVI has probably been the year’s most controversial game, but for me, it has without a doubt been the years BEST game! Nothing else has even come close. I put 82 hours into what I feel is a genuine masterpiece that stole my heart and walked all over Tears of the Kingdom – which, until FF16 came along, was my Game of the Year. I genuinely feel for those who don’t like the direction that Yoshi-P has taken the series, but I absolutely freaking loved it.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 499

The_Pixel_King

Well, I’d been trying to finish off Final Fantasy XVI for the past two weekends, but in that time I’ve been hospitalised by a severe Crohn’s attack, had COVID and put my back out. So I’d been pretty much bed bound for over ten days. However, I finally made it to the sofa and finished the game on Thursday. And WHAT a game it is! I put 82 hours in, completed at least four of what are my favourite boss fights in all of gaming, and fell in love with both the story and pretty much all the main NPC’s. With that in mind, Final Fantasy XVI has comfortably overtaken Tears of the Kingdom as my favourite game of 2023 and instantly become one of my top two games on the PS5 to date.

This weekend I’m going to Paris with my wife and youngest daughter to visit my sister-in-law who recently moved there for work, so the only gaming I’ll get in will be on Nintendo Switch. I don’t want to buy Super Mario Bros. Wonder because I really want to pick up Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 when I get back on Tuesday, but I’m really wobbling, folks. Please, someone send help!

Re: Secret PS5 Update Makes It Possible to Check for Patches on Games in Your Library

The_Pixel_King

Finally! This has bothered me for so long. Hey, it’s only taken them three years to sort it, but better late than never.

One other thing that still bothers me, is that the artwork on most game tiles that are in 'Game Library' and at the top of the Home Screen are vastly inferior to the actual tile art that’s displayed in 'Your Collection'. The Spider-Man games, Sackboy, The Callisto Protocol and Hogwarts Legacy are some of the most egregious examples. That’s probably the only area where Xbox Series X|S is vastly superior. What makes the issue worse is that when PS5 first launched, the proper tile art was always displayed. But it changed after an early firmware update.

I adore my PS5, and use it more than my Series X and Switch combined (and then some), but I’m really not a fan of the system’s UI.

Genuine question: does this bother anyone else or is it just me? I think it might be just me.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 498

The_Pixel_King

I was planning to finish Final Fantasy XVI last weekend, but I had a severe Crohn’s flair-up on the Sunday and ended up in hospital needing IV meds. Once I returned home, I managed to put a couple hours in, but on Thursday, I tested positive for Covid and now I feel like I’ve been hit by a train.

It feels like I’m cursed at this point, but in the unlikely event that I am able to play something, I’ll definitely put that time into wrapping up FF16, which by the way, is easily my favourite game of the entire year so far. I’m not saying it’s a 10/10, but it isn’t far off either.

Re: Random: Push Square Was a Question in a UK Quiz Show

The_Pixel_King

I watched that particular episode with my wife. Even she answered it correctly! I was thinking about letting you guys know, but @BlaizeV beat me to it. Good on ya, buddy! You’d be surprised by how many gaming-centric questions are featured on Tipping Point, but they’re usually related to Mario and Sonic.
