I’ve put twenty hours into this on Series X and enjoying it so much that I may just pick it up on PS5 to PowerWash my way to a shiny Platinum trophy! Such an addicting, cathartic game. Plus, I’m a big fan of FuturLab from the Velocity games.
I’ll be trying this on Game Pass (Series X) for sure. If I fall in love with it however, I’ll most likely buy the physical on PS5. Indeed, PS5 is my first console since PS3 where I’ve gone all physical. Where possible of course. All my other games on PS4, Switch and Xbox are digital.
They projected to ship FIVE MILLION units? Even Metroid Dread – a universally acclaimed title from an established and beloved IP – only sold 2.9m copies! Absolutely insane expectations.
Having stopped to play the masterful God of War Ragnarok, I’ve now gone back to wrap up The Last of Us Part I. Man, it’s a great game. Sure, Sony messed up the pricing, but it’s still one heck of a game!
Having recently finished God of War Ragnarok, I can comfortably say that it is worth every single accolade and top spot in the charts that it has received. Ragnarok is an absolute masterpiece in every sense of the word.
And totally deserved it is, too! Half my Push Square comments in 2022 must’ve been related to God of War Ragnarok, but BOY do I love it. May as well start 2023 in the same vein.
Unsurprisingly, the fabulous God of War Ragnarok takes both the staff and the readers top honour for 2022. And thoroughly deserved it is too! I’m also pleased to see Gran Turismo 7 recognised by my fellow readers!
I’ve finished God of War Ragnarok but going back in to mop up a few bits and pieces. After that, I’m going to finally start Elden Ring and just pray that I’m skilled enough to enjoy it. Can’t wait to find out.
@dschons @Kanji-Tatsumi @edwinjoe450 @DiggleDog Thank you, guys! I‘ve just finished GOWR, and planning to finally start ER tonight or tomorrow. I’m excited, but a little nervous. I love this kinda open world (Breath of the Wild Like?), but worried the difficulty will affect my enjoyment of the game. You never know though, maybe it’ll just click with me.
As someone who owns Elden Ring, but still not yet started it (I’ve never really gotten on with Souls games, but I really want to get into this one!) can anyone offer some advice to such a total noob like myself? For instance, is there a particular class that I should go with?
@johncalmc Hello John and fellow Push Square readers! As someone who owns Elden Ring, but still not yet started it (I’ve never really gotten on with Souls games, but I really want to get into this one!) can you offer any advice to such a total noob like myself? For instance, is there a particular class that I should go with?
Gran Turismo 7 was my game of the year for much of 2022. Then Ragnarok came along and blitzed it and every other game this year. A genuine masterpiece.
Obviously that leaves HFW, GOWR and ER. Assuming they take up the remaining three spots, it’s borderline criminal there isn’t a place for Gran Turismo 7 in Push Square’s top ten games of 2022. Opinions and all that, but it was definitely one of my highlights of the year, that’s for sure.
@ItsBritneyB_tch I have Chorus on PS5, but never got around to actually firing the game up and starting it. But your comment is making me really want to finally check it out. Plus, I also enjoyed Starlink (on Nintendo Switch). Thanks for recommending we give it a look. Always appreciate a good recommendation from a fellow gamer.
More God of War Ragnarok for me this weekend. Additionally, my daughter has bought me The Callisto Protocol for Christmas, so I’ll more than likely at least check that out tomorrow. Hope I find it better than those who’ve not got on with the game. If it’s a solid 7/10, I’ll be more than happy. Over on Xbox, meanwhile, I’ll no doubt be trying – and failing – to tear myself away from Vampire Survivors.
Whatever you’re playing this weekend, have a wonderful Christmas!
I’m a whisker over 30 hours into God of War Ragnarok and on the home straight, so that’s what I’ll be concentrating on this weekend. I’m doing a lot of side content, but hopefully, I should have it wrapped up this side of Christmas. What an outstanding experience, it has even managed to pip Gran Turismo 7 as my favourite game of 2022.
Other than that, I’ll also check out the PS5 update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, a game I never finished on PS4. Hopefully this time, Geralt!
God of War Ragnarok, Gran Turismo 7 and Elden Ring are definitely my top three. Tunic and Horizon Forbidden West take up the remaining two spots.
Despite putting close to 70 hours into it, I was ultimately left a little disappointed by Aloy’s PS5 debut. HFW nailed the combat and gameplay, but the story just bored me in the end. Still a solid 8/10 all things considered though.
By the way, I love the voting format this year, folks! May the best game win!
I’ve got a massive backlog across PS5, Xbox and Switch, so I’m gonna wait for a sale. If it had reviewed stronger I’d have probably picked it up in the next week or two, but as it stands, I can wait a while yet.
@brazzios_84 No, of course everything isn’t released on Game Pass, but the leaker has already stated that Monster Hunter Rise will be on the service! Hence why I said I’d play it there.
@Flaming_Kaiser I’m a PlayStation gamer first and foremost and prioritise my PS5, but if something releases on Game Pass, why not play it there? How does that make anyone cheap? What a cheap comment to make. Console wars are so tiring 🥱
I’m still steadily working my way through God of War Ragnarok, and I couldn’t be happier with the game. I’m around 12 or so hours in and it’s been the most fun gaming I’ve had all year. Still taking my time as I really don’t want it to end.
I’m only 8hrs in and it’s feeling like a 10 all day long. I’ll vote once I’ve finished it. If this poll is still relevant then. I’m planning on taking my sweet time with Ragnarok.
@Northern_munkey Thanks for the moral support my friend. As for Elden Ring, I’ll definitely get around to starting it sooner or later. It’s just every time I intend to do so, something else seems to get in the way.
I know I’ll be laughed out of the building, maybe even booed, but my current Game of the Year is Gran Turismo 7. It’s fast, it’s gorgeous and it’s seriously fun.
That being said, I’d be surprised if God of War Regnarok doesn’t pip my beloved GT7 to the GOTY finish line. I only got around to playing its predecessor earlier this year and I absolutely adored every last one of the 40-odd hours I put into the game. So much so, in fact, it’s now one of my top five games of all time.
As for other contenders, I’ve had a blast with the fabulous Tunic, though I’ve not yet finished it. But it’s up there. I also enjoyed Horizon Forbidden West, however I was ultimately left disappointed with the story and a couple other elements. It’s a great game for sure, but for me, just not quite GOTY material.
Disclaimer: despite buying it shortly after release, I still haven’t gotten around to starting Elden Ring as yet. Shame on me.
Incredible score nonetheless. Though, as eluded to, it’s still a tad short of Elden Ring’s 96 rating. GOTY discussions will be very interesting this year!
Hey, where’s the option for I’ll buy it if Half-Life: Alyx is announced for PSVR2? 😂
That’s my current stance on Sony’s spiffy new headset. Unless, we get a new Astro game of course. I absolutely adored Astro’s Playroom, which is probably still my favourite PS5 experience to date!
Could well be a PS5 remaster for The Last of Us Part II. Hmm, I wonder if we’ll get The Last of Us Remastered Remake Remastered for Part I on PS6. It honestly wouldn’t surprise me.
I’ll certainly be picking up Persona 4 Golden come January. That’s a stone cold classic that I need in my library.
@get2sammyb Do it, Sammy! If you have even the slightest interest in JRPG’s, you’ll have a blast with P4G. It was my very first JRPG experience when I bought it on Vita and even I absolutely adored the game.
I’ve got to admit, it’s this game more than any other (Horizon: Call of the Mountain included) that would tempt me to stump up the funds to pick up PSVR2.

Re: UK Sales Charts: God of War Ragnarok Starts 2023 Strong in the Top Spot
Having recently finished God of War Ragnarok, I can comfortably say that it is worth every single accolade and top spot in the charts that it has received. Ragnarok is an absolute masterpiece in every sense of the word.
Re: Poll: What PS5, PS4 Game Are You Most Looking Forward to in January 2023?
Definitely Dead Space for me. But if we could’ve had a second pick, it would have been Persona 4 Golden. Man, I loved that game on Vita.
Re: UK Sales Charts: God of War Ragnarok Returns to the Top in Final Week of 2022
And totally deserved it is, too! Half my Push Square comments in 2022 must’ve been related to God of War Ragnarok, but BOY do I love it. May as well start 2023 in the same vein.
Re: Poll: What's Your Favourite God of War Ragnarok Weapon?
The Draupnir Spear has become my favourite weapon, but I also dig that sword, Indrid, that Odin gave Atreus.

Re: Game of the Year: #1 - God of War Ragnarok
Well, my beloved Gran Turismo 7 didn’t make the top ten, but at least the even better God of War Ragnarok won the whole damn thing. Richly deserved.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - New Year 2023 Edition
I’ve finished God of War Ragnarok but going back in to mop up a few bits and pieces. After that, I’m going to finally start Elden Ring and just pray that I’m skilled enough to enjoy it. Can’t wait to find out.
Happy New Year everyone! All the best for 2023.
Re: Poll: Have You Completed Elden Ring?
@GamingFan4Lyf Thanks my friend. That really helped. Really appreciate you taking the time to reply in detail.
Re: Poll: Have You Completed Elden Ring?
@dschons Thanks buddy! @Sora420 Kinda wish I had an expert to play through it with me. But I’m determined to enjoy it all the same. Fingers crossed.

Re: Game of the Year: Brett's Top 5 PS5, PS4 Games of 2022
The more I see Sonic Frontiers in these lists, the more I’m convinced that I should give it a try… at some point.
Re: UK Sales Charts: Crisis Core Crashes Out While Sonic Frontiers Returns
Good to see God of War Ragnarok still holding strong.
Re: Game of the Year: #6 - Sifu
Sifu’s a great shout. So cool to see it feature so highly on the list.
Re: Game of the Year: John's Top 5 PS5, PS4 Games of 2022
For me, this has been the best list so far. Though I’d change the order around a little.

Re: Game of the Year: Best PS5, PS4 Indie Game of 2022
My indie PS5 game of the year is the fabulous Tunic. Though I guess many will still see it as an Xbox title first and foremost?
Shout outs to Sifu and Stray. Though I’m still yet to play OlliOll World and Cult of the Lamb. They’re on the wishlist though.
Re: Game of the Year: Liam's Top 5 PS5, PS4 Games of 2022
@dark_knightmare2 Don’t forget the Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection!
@LiamCroft Completely agree regarding Horizon Forbidden West. A very good game for sure, just not a great one.

This is fabulous news. Though I’d probably play on my Series S via Game Pass. Glad Rise gets the chance to be enjoyed by more gamers on new platforms.
Re: UK Sales Charts: Black Friday Weekend Deals Keep Sony Games Afloat
Great to see Kratos and Atreus holding strong in fifth place. Long may Ragnarok’s success continue!
Re: God of War Ragnarok Update 2.04 Is Available Now, Here Are All the Patch Notes
I’m 15hrs in. No bugs or glitches whatsoever as yet. What a game this is. Even better than 2018. Well, so far.
I also noticed that Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart was updated overnight. Wonder what those patch notes are?
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 453

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give God of War Ragnarok?
@Fight_Teza_Fight Best of all there is so little bloat
I read that as 'Best of all, there is a little boat'. I was like, yeah, that was in 2018, too! 😂😂

Okay, who’s given this game a 3..?? 😂
