As a HUGE fan of Final Fantasy XVI, I’m seriously thinking about picking Tekken 8 up just for Clive!

Having owned it since release, I finally got around to starting Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition yesterday. I’m only 4 hours in, but man, what a fun game! Why did it take me so long to play this? It’s just so good.

Just woke up and saw this. And I have to say, as an 80’s teen, this looks absolutely incredible. Do I finally feel excited about gaming again? If this is anything to go by, yes!

I’ve had pretty much zero interest in the Portal mainly because I’m not sure if my WiFi is up to the task, but a black one? What with last week’s IGN Game Scoop podcast stating that a recent firmware update has really improved latency, damn, I might actually bite this Christmas!

I’m currently playing through Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection. Having never played it on PS4, I finished The Lost Legacy earlier in the week and then immediately started A Thief’s End. I did play Uncharted 4 on PS4, so this is my second playthrough, but the first time I’m playing it on PS5. Currently on chapter 17, so not long to go.

After that? You know what, I may actually go back and play 1-3 via Bluepoint’s The Nathan Drake Collection. Seeing as I missed most of the PS3 generation, this will be my first time playing the original Uncharted trilogy. Though I did beat Golden Abyss when it originally launched on Vita, which at the time, I really enjoyed.

Oh and between all that I’m also playing Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective on Switch. I almost never play the Switch in handheld mode, but Ghost Trick looks so good on the OLED, and with great touchscreen support, it’d be a crime to play this awesome little game docked. If you’ve not played this one, I highly recommend doing so. There’s a PS4 version, too.

You’ve got the Xbox Series S and Series X Digital Edition in 7th and 8th respectively. Presumably the wrong way around?

Great game, I’m just disappointed that the NieR Automata DLC is cosmetics only. Was really hoping for a new level or two. Nevermind, Stellar Blade was still one of my favourite gaming experiences of 2024. Guess I’ll wait to see pricing before deciding whether or not to grab the new content.

There’s only four words I needed to see here; Ford Escort RS Cosworth. Can’t wait! If only I had a PS5 Pro to race it on.

Glad I held off buying this on Switch. I generally prefer just picking up first- and third-party exclusives on Switch and grabbing everything else on PS5.

Great mini review, Ken. As a huge Tetris fan with multiple hundreds of hours piled into the series over the years (starting with the Game Boy of course), I’ll no doubt pick this up as soon as I’m able. Speaking of the Game Boy pack-in, I remember playing it so much that when I closed my eyes, I could see cascades of Tetrominos falling. Super trippy.

I had a fantastic time with Astro Bot, squeezing nearly thirty hours of gameplay out of it and grabbing the platinum. It’s also comfortably eclipsed the likes of Stellar Blade, Echoes of Wisdom and FFVII Rebirth as my personal game of the year. Man, you really can’t beat a top tier 3D platformer!

I really hope Astro Bot gets the sales numbers that the game deserves. Team Asobi is my favourite Sony first-party studio and we need more 3D platformers like the games they make. Heck, we need more Sly Cooper and Jak & Daxter, too! As far as I’m concerned, PlayStation really needs to go back to its roots.

Vampire Survivors isn’t the deepest game in the world, but given the rewarding gameplay and insane value it offers, it’s an easy 9.0 for me. Fantastic game. Though a certain Astro Bot will take over my gaming time from tomorrow, I’ve played nothing but VS since it released last week.

I’m playing nothing but Vampire Survivors until Astro Bot falls through my letterbox on Friday!

I don’t like invisible walls, but I do like physical releases. If Black Myth gets one, I’ll buy it.

@naruball I’m not interested in buying Concord as I’m not a fan of multiplayer games, but I’m still interested in how it turns out for others who are looking forward to it.

Oh Lordy, please be FH5. I sold my Series X earlier in the year and it’s literally the only game I miss!

Having put over 30hrs into Vampire Survivors across Series X and Switch, I’ll be there day one when it releases on PS5. For under £5.00, you really can’t go wrong. Plus, it’ll be a blast seeing multiple trophies pop every ten minutes! Seriously, if you haven’t yet played it elsewhere, try it. The game is genuinely awesome!

Do I need a PS5 Pro. Not at all. Do I want one? Absolutely!

Comfortably Stellar Blade for me. To be honest, I thought it’d be FFVII Rebirth, but I only got half-way through before burning out a little – okay, a lot! – and taking a break. Need to get back to that. Plus, I’m really looking forward to finally digging into Prince of Persia when I get a chance.

I’ve had Elden Ring since a month or so after it released and I still haven’t played it. I’ve not really gamed much at all these past few weeks, but all of a sudden, I’m pretty eager to at least give it a go and see if I vibe with it. I love big action RPG’s, but the high skill ceiling does concern me a little. Maybe I’ll finally fire it up this weekend?

Personally, I love gyro controls and tend to use them in any game that supports them. I had pretty much zero interest in Valorant anyway, but if it did have gyro’s I may have been interested enough to at least try it. But they don’t, so I won’t. Shame really.

This is making me consider upping my sub to premium. I do love a bit of Sly Coops!

For me, DREDGE and Streets of Rage 4 are the clear standout’s here.

After a week off, following a family trip, I’ve been playing Stellar Blade again this past week. I passed the point of no return yesterday, so I’ll be finishing that off this weekend. It’s been a super fun ride and comfortably my favourite game of the year so far.

I don’t yet have Dave the Diver (or Plus for that matter) so I’d better redeem it while I can. Thanks for the heads up, guys!

@get2sammyb Oh I’m not saying the review is negative or unfair, Sammy. I’m simply stating the fact that Push Square reviews are often a point or two lower than your sister sites. Just an observation, buddy.

I do get that reviews are entirely subjective, but it is weird to see @PJOreilly give it a 9/10 over on Pure Xbox. I’m not sure why, but it appears like 90%+ of games score at least a point lower here on Push Square than everywhere else. Particularly when comparing to fellow Hookshot sites, Nintendo Life and the aforementioned Pure Xbox. Personally, I always appreciate PJ’s reviews. He usually has a positive slant and his opinions regularly seem to align with mine.

I absolutely loved Ghost of Tsushima when I played the Director’s Cut on PS5. Much like @Slippship, it’s one of the rare games that I enjoyed so much, I grabbed the platinum trophy. It really is such a great game, and I’m excitedly looking forward to seeing what Sucker Punch manage to do with a PS5 exclusive sequel.

I’ve been bingeing anime and TV shows with my daughter this past week or so and haven’t touched my PS5 nearly enough. So this weekend I intend to make serious progress in Stellar Blade. I’m currently halfway through and, so far at least, it’s easily my favourite game of the year.

I absolutely agree with @TJ81. Ghost of Tsushima is still one of my favourite games of the last two generations and one of the few games I took the trouble to platinum. I’m definitely no trophy hunter, but when a game is this good, I can’t help myself.

I haven’t played an Assassin’s Creed game since Black Flag, but I’m really intrigued by this one. Looking forward to the trailer.

I’ve been away on a short family trip to Amsterdam this past week and only had my Switch for entertainment on the Eurostar. So this weekend, I’m really eager to dive back into Stellar Blade. Just hope I can still perfect parry!

Here’s hoping a certain Forza Horizon 5 makes its way over at some point. I just sold my Series X this past weekend and that’s the only game I’ll genuinely miss. Well, that and Vampire Survivors, but that’s already confirmed for a summer release on PlayStation. I mean, at this point, I really can’t see Microsoft shifting that many more copies of Playground’s spectacular open world racer.

@NieR_Dark Thanks for the advice my friend. I picked up NieR Automata last year and I’ve been meaning to start it ever since. At first, I actually bought the Switch version, but loved the first hour so much, I stopped right there and ordered the PS4 version. It just felt like such a special game that I wanted to experience the best version possible. So I’ll be starting it on PS5 as soon as I’m done with Stellar Blade.

Much like last week, I’m all about the fabulous Stellar Blade this weekend. I’m about 12 hours in and really enjoying the way the combat is evolving and earning Skill Points like they’re going out of fashion.

Once that’s wrapped up, I’ve got both NieR Automata and Devil May Cry 5 lined up. After feeling pretty burned out on FFVII Rebirth, Stellar Blade has helped reinvigorate my gaming once more. I’ll get back to Rebirth, but right now I’m really enjoying the immediacy of Stellar Blade.

For me, it’s a 9 all day long. I have absolutely no idea how there’s people here rating it at 5 and under. Like, what?!

Personally, I’m not at all bothered by the outfit changes, but I do have a question. I bought the physical disc version of Stellar Blade, but when I inserted the disc it automatically had version 1.2 on disc, with no separate download file. Is it me or did I miss something?

Regarding the actual game, it’s fantastic. I’m only 4 or 5 hours in, but I’m really enjoying it. The combat, exploration, visuals, score and overall vibe are amongst some of the very best I’ve experienced in quite a while. This is shaping up to potentially becoming my favourite game of the year so far.

Definitely Stellar Blade for me. It’s such a great game. Excellent combat, gorgeous visuals and great music. So glad it’s turned out so well.

I’m a massive action game fan and yes, I’m taking a break from FFVII Rebirth to play Stellar Blade today. I almost always finish what I’m currently playing before starting anything new, but I’m definitely making an exception on this occasion.

It was also refreshing to see version 1.2 on the disc, so no day one patch. Unless my PS5 just didn’t show the patch as a download I guess?

Super excited for this. Roll on tomorrow! Just found out that my wife (who is currently overseas visiting family) preordered the game for me! And there was me thinking this is the one game that she wouldn’t really approve of. After 29 years of marriage, that woman still has the ability to surprise me. She’s an angel.

Adored the demo and super hyped for Stellar Blade. Really looking forward to seeing how it reviews tomorrow.

I took a punt on Cocoon this past week and had a blast. But with that now finished and the platinum in the bag, I may well go back to Final Fantasy VII Rebirth this weekend. I left it just as I was arriving at the Gold Saucer.

However, having just binged The Last of Us TV show with my daughter over the past couple days, she really wants to know what happens in Part II. So, with her home from uni for the next couple weeks and my wife visiting family overseas, we might start a fresh play through of The Last of Us Part II Remastered. I’m itching to know if she’ll love it as much as I do!

Apparently all three games are getting a free native PS5 upgrade at a later date.

Easily Final Fantasy VII Rebirth so far for me, but considering how much I loved the demo, I have a sneaking suspicion that Stellar Blade will push it all the way. Well, here’s hoping!

Also, considering it’s somewhat niche, I’m really happy to see Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown feature so highly. Such a fantastic Metroidvania.

I’m 52 hours into Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and still haven’t even beaten chapter 7 yet. I’m absolutely loving this game and will be playing a lot more over the weekend, but will I be able to beat it by the time Stellar Blade comes out? One thing’s for sure, I’ll have a lot of fun trying.

Such a shame. I’d love a new Everybody’s Golf game on PS5. Never mind, I guess.

I think it’s pretty obvious why. Most of us (me included) loved the first game in the remake trilogy and didn’t bother with the FFVII Rebirth demo as we already had it on preorder.

With Stellar Blade, however, many of us (again, me included) loved the look of the game, but needed to know how it played, so this demo was more important. I was and will be there, day one, for both games.

Quite a lot of people say otherwise, but I think PS5 is on fire right now and, as such, this has been my favourite console generation in a while.

Single player games should always be the primary and most fundamental pillar of this industry. As such, I’ll always support great games that embrace that concept and I’ll definitely be there day one for Stellar Blade. Helps that I loved the demo!

Now I’m really glad I picked up a used PS4 copy of Fallout 4 for just £2.50 from CEX last month. It was in near perfect condition, too!
