Re: Poll: How Much Do You Care About 60fps on PS5?

Whately86

I'm tired of feeling like I've been played. If devs can't get 60fps, why is Sony marketing it's machine with 120fps on the box? I don't mind playing in 1080p (don't have 4K TV). But the fact that even my old ass tv has 60 fps frame rate and the PS5 has been heavily marketed on being next gen machine with 4K and 60 FPS (plus everything getting so much more expensive) makes me quite frustrated with where we are at, to be honest.

Re: Talking Point: How Do You Feel About the PS5 Pro?

Whately86

@NEStalgia
" looking forward to rebuying their console at an upcharge to get a fraction of the performance they were told the original should provide."

EXACTLY why I'm considering (after nearly 36 years as a console player) dropping consoles for PC next gen.

Re: Talking Point: How Do You Feel About the PS5 Pro?

Whately86

@Dudditz09 I have been considering dropping consoles for next gen. $500 for base PS5, $200 on a 2 TB SSD +$70 on an extra dual sense makes me think if I shouldn't aim for PC next gen.

I'm pretty tired of being fed lies (like PS4 with 4K, PS5 with ray tracing, 60-120 FPS & 4K) and when it comes down to it, it never lives up to what they are being sold as. Think it's best to invest in hardware I can be 100% sure how it will perform and what I can get out of it. Plus, you can upgrade piece by piece instead of having to directly invest a huge amount like with a console.

Re: Marvel's Spider-Man 2 PS5 Update Available Now, Here Are All the Patch Notes

Whately86

I was going to wait for the inevitable GOTY edition, but ended up buying a used version ( thank God for physical editions). I have to say, I had a quite a lotta bugs. Lighting bugs, being stuck where I shouldn't enter twice. Game fully stopped and my PS5 restarted once. Texture glitching.

Game is really great to play, although very similar to previous ganes. Enjoying story so far. Apart from the bugs (all resolved with restart) I'm really liking the game abd night even go for plat

Re: Spider-Man 2 Is Already Doing an Amazing Job of Keeping People Playing on PS5

Whately86

@Martijn87 it's kind of crazy how people tend to forget experience might vary from person to person.

Last Zelda I really played was Wind Waker. They just have a particular vibe used to carry me away. Miss those days. Used to be Nintendo all the way and now I own a PS4 & PS5. Never thought I'd part from Nintendo back in the day but Wii just lost me completely. Loved GameCube though.

Re: Star Wars Jedi: Survivor PS5 Update Available Now, Here Are the Patch Notes

Whately86

@NotSoCryptic Yeah, better not be friends.

Doesn't make sense how you talk about wanting to see this game with this new patch perform on a PS5 pro, if the pro hasn't even been announced and much less released. Which led to my question if you had a dev kit.

Someone who can't be clear about what they're talking about must be hell to play with.

Keep your imaginary PS5 pro, hope digital foundry makes a special video just for you

Re: PS Plus Price Hike Drives Sony Share Prices Up Dramatically

Whately86

The funniest of all are the people that have money and don't care, thinking they are the main player base. Most people don't have the money, but these people to whom a $20 price hike doesn't bother them think the WHOLE gaming community is made of rich kids that live with their parents.

At this rate, I wonder ow long it'll take for the sony gaming community to be just the rich kids playing amongst themselves.

Re: PS Plus Price Hike Drives Sony Share Prices Up Dramatically

Whately86

@EpicMouse I live in Brazil. Extra went up 40%. It's just disrespectful. No improvement pf service, no added value.

I have a PS5, just acquired an SSD for around $150. If I had spent $650 getting myself set up with a PC....

I'll keep my PS4 (going yo pass it to my daughter when I get a new TV) and will play the exclusives on PS5. But Sony is really forcing me to consider other options.

Re: FromSoftware Still Can't Get the Frame Rate Right in Armored Core 6, PS5 Analysis Shows

Whately86

@__jamiie I've been saying the same thing. The majority of TV's have 60 hz frame rate for a long time. I can understand 1080p to have 120 fps. But how hard would it be to have a 60fps base for the new generation.

The worse is that they'll use 60 fps base / 120 fps tops / "8k" / proper ray tracing to justify sending out a PS5 pro. And this adds to what another guy said, about how the actual frame rate is hidden/masked by all these other engines.

When you add the absurd and out of the blue ps plus increase (where I live extra went up 40%), I'm seriously considering moving to PC for the next generation. Maybe get a second hand fat version of the ps6 to play used copies of the exclusives, if they're worth the effort. With what I've spent on PS5, I should get a fair start at a build.

Re: PS Plus Price Hike Drives Sony Share Prices Up Dramatically

Whately86

@Jacko11

Honestly, I get some of your points, just don't agree 100%.

How many months do we get games that no one wanted to play? Who spends 70 on games? I ain't buying day one 90% of the time. I trade discs, buy used games. The gaming community isn't just about paying full price.

I understand there is value in the subscription but don't agree it makes sense for such an increase. There's no added value, just an increase coming in the next couple of days.

Plus, a lot of things are luxury. Like cinema, eating out and games. Doesn't mean it's ok for prices to be spiked without need. Where I live, cinema became way too expensive. I rarely go. I play games since 1990 and don't intend to stop. But might take my business to PC and not have to pay to play online, in the next generation.

Re: PS5, PS4 Owners Are Understandably Irate with PS Plus Price Hike

Whately86

@Texan_Survivor I agree. I've been a console enthusiast since the Atari. Was Nintendo all the way through (SNES, 64 & GC, they lost me at Wii) until PS4 in 2017. I was surprised how many games I had available and had no doubt I would get the PS5 (my current system). But now I'm think that $650 (PS5 + ssd I'm getting now) should get me a decent start for a PC build. The only difference Sony has are the exclusives and you can get a 2nd hand console and exclusives and play them if you don't want to wait for PC release. I feel like Sony is trying to push away whoever isn't ready to blindly commit to them

Re: Days Gone 2 Could Have Released 'a Month Ago', Says Game Director

Whately86

@Paranoimia I agree with you. I think even though the DG wasn't the success they expected, it WAS a new IP. Hoow can you simply discard a new IP completely like that? If you consider that there is nothing worthy of improving, then why was this project greenlit in the first place? I think they could've improved for DG2 and specially considering how SM2 will take advantage of the PS5, DG2 could be an amazing game. Take what was learned from the 1st and grow from there. We could've had a 1st party exclusive in our hands now. If an IP is so easily left to die, it makes me wonder how much they trust each new IP currently being developed.

Re: 900+ PS5, PS4 Games on Offer in New Bumper PS Store Sale

Whately86

@koffing Dude, finish W3 before entering another huge game like ToK. And keep an eye on your list and on psprices to track discounts. Byt the time you're done with both of the 1st games you mentioned, you'll have better chances of acquiring ones from the wish list. Good gaming!

Re: Sigh! For the Record, Sony Is Not Making a Superman PS5 Exclusive

Whately86

@AverageGamer But dude, what about Arkham Asylum? We would get new gear as we progressed. And it's not like Batman didn't already have this gear.

Maybe Supe's got infected with kripto stuff that blocks temporarily his powers or something. Maybe just the beginning of the game, when you're learning the controls

Re: Sigh! For the Record, Sony Is Not Making a Superman PS5 Exclusive

Whately86

@nomither6 you could make a game where he's learning to use his powers so you keep leveling up and unlocking new powers.

You can have a whole range of enemies. Lex Luthor could have minions with kripronyte weapons. He could fight General Zod.

And with the power of ssd, they could make a huge world and you could zoom around. I can picture an amazing supes game

Re: TV Show Review: The Last of Us (HBO) Episode 8 - Streamlining Hollows Out Iconic Moments

Whately86

Having played the game, I obviously had expectations. But putting my impossible desire to relive what I previously experienced with the game aside, and looking as it is: what an episode.

The only reason there are complaints is because there story is known to us all. Had it been an original HBO show, we would all be too busy giving praise to Bella Ramsey's phenomenal performance. To see the despair in her eyes, the trauma. Supporting actors all well too. Pascal shined in the brutal scene that shows how brutal Joel can be, in the few moments Joel had in this Ellie episode.

Bella is incredible.

Re: HBO's The Last of Us Continues Meteoric Rise, Hits New Ratings High

Whately86

@Ambassador_Kong

As a father that at the time of playing part 1was away from his daughter (also named Sarah), the game had me hooked. I think everyone that loved part 1 became attached to and loved the main duo. But Joel murdered everyone in that building. We justify his actions because we love him, making him a hero to us. But that's exactly the thing. None of us would've allowed Ellie to die

If part 1 was a father daughter story of a doctor trying to find the cure while surviving the apocalypse, and in the end your father gets brutally murdered... You'd go after the guy who killed your dad (and part 2 would make Ellie a villain as well, hunting down Abby's friends)

To me, the deep of the context of LoU is the humanity behind it. Erratic, violent and capable of love. Joel was already doing bad ***** before meeting Ellie, losing faith in mankind/life and doing whatever needed to survive. Ellie shows Joel that he is still capable of loving. And the end, what he is willing to do to never lose that love again. That means it's the right choice for you and it doesn't mean it's THE right choice, morally speaking.

Re: Poll: Would You Be Interested in a Detachable PS5 Disc Drive?

Whately86

Some people that have had the option of moving to all digital seem to forget that not everyone that has a gaming system has the same financial reach. Some people don't have access to digital games for a number of reasons. Some people can only consume when they trade or buy used games. It's cool you made that choice to go all digital, but having a drive is of utter importance.

Personally, I rather have games that I'll beat once and probably never play again in cd, so I can trade or sell. If a digital deal is really great and/or the game is one I'll want in my collection forever, I'll go digital.

But I own around 10 physical copies, some of which I intend to have permanently, and some for the trade game.

Getting a PS5 pretty soon, abd I'll go with the disc version. If I were to buy way down the road, I'd get a driver as well.

Re: PlayStation Fans Aren't Happy with This New Uncharted Movie Picture

Whately86

I think this pic is from a scene early in the movie. I think we all need to relax and remember how many times we praised things (games mainly) that seems awesome and when it actually comes out, it sucks (Cyberpunk 2077 anyone?). So we should've learned it's complicated to draw conclusions without much at hand.

Some people saying "its not uncharted". But isn't it being developed by the people who created uncharted? Who are we to say if it is or isnt? We dont have to like it, obviously.

Re: Cost of Fixing Cyberpunk 2077 Irrelevant, Says CD Projekt RED

Whately86

@LordSteev Yeah man, I'm playing on a base ps4. I got really into the game, got over 40 hours. I really liked the game. So much, I didn't even let the 3 crashes I had the 1st day get in my way. Some bugs bother a bit more, but they don't in the way.

The graphics really shout out how bad they are when you do a brain dance sequence. The CGI in the original image you start on, that's what the game was supposed to look like. It kinda bother me because every BD sequence shows me how much better it really should've been. I'm gonna keep on playing, def. But I'm hoping they deliver sooner rather than later.

I think they got a lot of pressure to release the game close to the next gen launch. And christmas. Which is sad. I hope they learn from this mistake and delay the next project until it's ready. Imagine actually playing this game ready on ps4? That would've been awesome. But we are kinda watching Avengers Endgame on a bootleg DVD. We're (hopefully) gonna get the Blu ray version soon, but we've kinda seen the movie by then... They should find a way to compensate players that bought now.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 on PS4 Is Being Slaughtered By Metacritic Users

Whately86

Wow. I bought the game, and I play on a ps4 bought in 2017. Never cleaned. Yeah, got some bugs here and there. Yes, I did have some crashes, about 4. Really bothers me. I do think they shouldn't release it in this state. The scale of the game deservesa proper polish. But the game is amazing. I took a break for a bit to eat and socialize. I'm very happy so far.

Fdrom what people say that the gameplay / npcs not being what they expected: Red Dead 2 was expected to bring a whole new dimension to the average NPC, it just gave us 3 lines per NPC. Still an amazing game, but not really what it was sold to be.

I'm not worried, honestly. I know CDPR will eventually come around the issues. I would be pissed and worried if it were another dev. Probably wouldn't have bought the game straight away, like I usually do. Plus, when I get a PS5, I will already have this game to play there.
