Re: PS5 Sales Trend Ahead of PS4 in US, Leads Console Market By 'Significant Margin'

@MrMagic How crazy do I have to be??? 🤣

Games are heading exactly where music and films went. Streaming and/or downloading.

I have said, many times before, that hardware will be irrelevant when apps/subscriptions are the norm.

Why buy a game when you can stream it? I'm not saying I like that future but it's already happening.

Why buy a £600 console if you can download an app to give you the same games.

PlayStation will only be an app in the future. Xbox will be an app. Capcom will be an app. You'll be able to subscribe and play the games you want to play on a fairly standard hard drive.

And with Microsoft buying up the most profitable games on the planet, they will beat Sony. The Xbox brand will mean every game and studio they own rather than a box under your TV.

Nintendo on the other hand may continue doing things their own way.

@themightyant I recognise that the Switch has had, by far, the best library of any console over the last 7 years. If not ever.

On the other hand, if I pay £500+ for a console that promises next gen, I expect it to deliver. Neither Xbox nor PlayStation have delivered on their promises.

Switch has delivered on its promise.

How is that difficult to understand?

Xbox haven't cared about hardware for many, many years. I'm fairly sure Microsoft are going to outsource Xbox hardware next gen to other manufacturers in the same way that Windows laptops/PCs are made.

Microsoft will continue selling software to anyone who will buy it and make billions from PlayStation gamers.

I really don't understand how any PlayStation fans consider selling more hardware a success in this day and age.

Where are all my Dell fans at??? HP for the win!!! Nobody does this with PCs and it's mental that console wars are still going strong years after I left the playground.

@themightyant I'll agree that faster load times are better. I'll agree that improved frame rates and higher fidelity are better.

But are the games? I don't think they are. Especially not for spending the best part of half a grand.

And most of the 'next gen' games you listed could have been achieved on PS4 Pro and especially Xbox One X, with little to no compromise.

I've constantly been bitterly disappointed by everything so far this gen of PlayStation and Xbox. My Switch is my most used console followed by my Quest 3. Not because of anything other than the fact the games are fun to play and (in the case of Quest) hassle free.

@Max_the_German The PSVR2 screens may be better but the lenses definitely aren't. I have both and the sweet spot on Quest 3 is basically anywhere.

There are pros and cons for both but being able to play without constantly adjusting my headset is a major plus for me.

@ChrisDeku I get your point but I do think that people who bought a PS5 for next gen gaming are questioning their purchase due to the lack of games they couldn't have possibly had on PS4.

That's been the biggest thing for me. This gen has been incredibly dull in my opinion. And the way Sony have abandoned the PSVR2 so far has definitely given me buyer's remorse.

I've said in previous posts that I've unboxed my PS3 and am having an amazing time with it. I even bought another system in case mine dies on me.

Here's hoping for a good show though.
