Re: PS5 Players Choose Performance Mode 75% of the Time

__jamiie

The fact that there were no such modes (as far as I'm aware) during the PS3/XB360 generation show the regression the industry has been making.

Devs are no longer required to squeeze the absolute best they can out of hardware and find the optimal level. Just throw a few sliders in and then ask Sony for new hardware.

The fact that Cerny said that a huge driving force behind PS5 Pro was developers asking for more power, backs this up.

@EddieGallad What??? Where on Earth has this take come from???

I think you should read the room a little more because there doesn't seem to be a single PlayStation fan who was desperate for this game to exist let alone release.

Nobody in their right mind wanted Sony to invest c£300million or 8 years into this.

How you've come to the conclusion that the catastrophic failure of this game has anything to do with Xbox fans is quite frankly laughable.

I'm hoping for your sake this is satire.

Re: Failing Manufacturers Are Pushing the Narrative That Consoles Are Dying, Says Ex-Xbox Exec

Consoles will be gone after next gen. I don't think there will be a PS7. Consoles themselves stopped being interesting after the PS3/360 generation because they used off the shelf parts and were basically the same thing no matter which you bought.

SNES vs Mega Drive
PS vs Saturn vs N64
PS2 vs Xbox vs GameCube vs Dreamcast
PS3 vs Xbox 360 vs Wii

Those generations were fascinating and great times to be a gamer if you had multiple systems because every one of them offered something truly different and had incredible exclusives.

@HonestHick You're always a sound measure of judgement when it comes to console bias.

I hope that Sony rethink the PS5 Pro (but they won't)

I hope that Nintendo doesn't go crazy with it's pricing of Switch 2. (£499 is what I've heard)

I hope that Xbox make a truly Windows Xbox console (including games from Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, Epic etc.)

Anyway, let's see what happens.

Re: Preview: As Uncharted Rests, Xbox Provides PS5 Adventure in Indiana Jones

I'm probably one of the few people who owns an Xbox and thinks this should have always been multiplatform. But then I also think that Blade, Spider-Man and Wolverine should also be. IPs like these should never be tied to one place. They're pieces of art that deserve to be played by everyone.

Imagine if Batman was only on one system. ☹️

Re: People Are Already Freaking Out Over Monster Hunter Wilds' PS5 Frame Rate

I don't often care about 30 vs 60 FPS. I don't play online shooters where I can (possibly) justify people getting annoyed.

But the fact that this is even a conversation in 2024 is another example of why this generation has been one of the most disappointing I've ever experienced. SSD speed has been the only jump that has been made. Sony originally putting an 8K label on PS5 boxes still makes me laugh.

I also think that devs no longer try to optimise or maximise the hardware in front of them. Some of the best and most impressive PS3 games came out towards the end of the system's life because the creators had to work hard to get better results.

Developers can't wait for the PS5 Pro because they'll continue to get away with not trying at all.

@riceNpea Cinema lost thousands of jobs during that time. Attendance may have been higher but job creation wasn't. And now, thousands of people are losing their jobs in the games industry whilst the buying of games increases. The gap between a hit and a miss used to be negligible. The gap between a hit and a miss nowadays is death for a studio and absolute bankruptcy.

@CielloArc Are you quite young? I ask because Nintendo have released several systems that they've had to drastically reduce the price of and also several systems that didn't sell like hotcakes.

Virtual Boy, GameCube, 3DS, Wii U.

I hope Nintendo doesn't feel they can charge anything they want just because the Switch has been such a success.

Re: Xbox's Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Comes to PS5 in Spring 2025

@Ilyn I've Googled it, an as far as I can see Asus don't make a cut of any sales made via stores. It's Windows based so any store you can get on a PC is there so there's no convincing store owners.

Regarding the specs, the fact that the PS4 is still getting games 4 years into this generation means that it's perfectly workable.

In theory, if Microsoft built a truly Windows Xbox, there's no reason it couldn't access all of the stores available on Windows.
