The fact that there were no such modes (as far as I'm aware) during the PS3/XB360 generation show the regression the industry has been making.
Devs are no longer required to squeeze the absolute best they can out of hardware and find the optimal level. Just throw a few sliders in and then ask Sony for new hardware.
The fact that Cerny said that a huge driving force behind PS5 Pro was developers asking for more power, backs this up.
@Markatron84 Why do games need to include pronouns? And why are people who dislike pronouns being forced upon them "garbage"? Surely their opinion is just as valid?
@EddieGallad What??? Where on Earth has this take come from???
I think you should read the room a little more because there doesn't seem to be a single PlayStation fan who was desperate for this game to exist let alone release.
Nobody in their right mind wanted Sony to invest c£300million or 8 years into this.
How you've come to the conclusion that the catastrophic failure of this game has anything to do with Xbox fans is quite frankly laughable.
I think a far better way to build an audience for a multiplayer only game is to use an existing IP and making a spin off. The way that The Last of Us planned to be.
Otherwise, it's like trying to catch lightning in a bottle.
Another nail in the coffin. This generation of consoles is the least exciting, most expensive ***** show I've ever been unfortunate enough to have bought into.
Why do so many people here seem to think that no consoles means streaming???
The future is a PC in a box under your TV made by existing PC hardware manufacturers like Asus etc. They will have access to the PS Store, Steam, Xbox store and Nintendo store and you can BUY and download whatever you want.
Consoles will be gone after next gen. I don't think there will be a PS7. Consoles themselves stopped being interesting after the PS3/360 generation because they used off the shelf parts and were basically the same thing no matter which you bought.
SNES vs Mega Drive PS vs Saturn vs N64 PS2 vs Xbox vs GameCube vs Dreamcast PS3 vs Xbox 360 vs Wii
Those generations were fascinating and great times to be a gamer if you had multiple systems because every one of them offered something truly different and had incredible exclusives.
I think it's fairly obvious that it will use the same cover plates and disc drive attachment as the slim. It's just slightly longer with the extra stripes in the middle.
@Jacko11 Sony isn't producing live service games to fund single player games! 😂 Sony is producing live service games to make money for their shareholders. Sony would drop single player games in a heartbeat if they had multiple live service money spinners.
I'm probably one of the few people who owns an Xbox and thinks this should have always been multiplatform. But then I also think that Blade, Spider-Man and Wolverine should also be. IPs like these should never be tied to one place. They're pieces of art that deserve to be played by everyone.
I don't often care about 30 vs 60 FPS. I don't play online shooters where I can (possibly) justify people getting annoyed.
But the fact that this is even a conversation in 2024 is another example of why this generation has been one of the most disappointing I've ever experienced. SSD speed has been the only jump that has been made. Sony originally putting an 8K label on PS5 boxes still makes me laugh.
I also think that devs no longer try to optimise or maximise the hardware in front of them. Some of the best and most impressive PS3 games came out towards the end of the system's life because the creators had to work hard to get better results.
Developers can't wait for the PS5 Pro because they'll continue to get away with not trying at all.
@riceNpea "Twenities"??? I didn't say that the twenties were a point of suffering ever. I said that comparison between the twenties is night and day between the MCU. Making an analogy between 80s gaming and modern day gaming. That was clearly my point.
The games industry is heading for a fall. This isn't just my opinion by the way.
@riceNpea Cinema lost thousands of jobs during that time. Attendance may have been higher but job creation wasn't. And now, thousands of people are losing their jobs in the games industry whilst the buying of games increases. The gap between a hit and a miss used to be negligible. The gap between a hit and a miss nowadays is death for a studio and absolute bankruptcy.
@CielloArc Are you quite young? I ask because Nintendo have released several systems that they've had to drastically reduce the price of and also several systems that didn't sell like hotcakes.
Virtual Boy, GameCube, 3DS, Wii U.
I hope Nintendo doesn't feel they can charge anything they want just because the Switch has been such a success.
The industry is massively changing for the worse. Studios closing, mass redundancies, increased development costs, ridiculous development times, higher game prices.
None of it is sustainable.
And if the rumours of the Switch 2 costing around £500 are even slightly true then that's another terrible omen for the future.
@Ilyn I've Googled it, an as far as I can see Asus don't make a cut of any sales made via stores. It's Windows based so any store you can get on a PC is there so there's no convincing store owners.
Regarding the specs, the fact that the PS4 is still getting games 4 years into this generation means that it's perfectly workable.
In theory, if Microsoft built a truly Windows Xbox, there's no reason it couldn't access all of the stores available on Windows.

Re: PS5 Pro Reveal Is Already Sony's Most Disliked Console Announcement
TBF I don't think it's just a case of the price. It's a combination of price + negligible upgrade + no games.
The fact that there were last gen games being used to show off the power of this thing is laughable.

The modular approach is an absolutely fantastic piece of design. The only people buying this right now though will be scalpers.

The controller is a thing of beauty though. Way better than the Astro Bot one IMO.

Re: Xbox on Bringing Exclusives to PS5: The Industry Is Changing for All of Us
@HonestHick You're always a sound measure of judgement when it comes to console bias.
I hope that Sony rethink the PS5 Pro (but they won't)
I hope that Nintendo doesn't go crazy with it's pricing of Switch 2. (£499 is what I've heard)
I hope that Xbox make a truly Windows Xbox console (including games from Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, Epic etc.)
Anyway, let's see what happens.
Re: Xbox on Bringing Exclusives to PS5: The Industry Is Changing for All of Us
@HonestHick Once again I appreciate your comments back. It doesn't always play well on this site to have an original opinion!
You're a great person to read too and your posts resonate with me and the way the industry is.
We'll get there eventually!

Re: We're Already Mourning the GTA Tokyo Game on PS2 That Never Was
If it was around San Andreas times then there's no need for it to be mapped to match Tokyo at all.
I also think that they need to vary the GTA locations. America has worn a little thin at this point.
Re: Rumour: PS5 Pro Still Planned to Release in 2024, State of Play Coming in September
@ColdHandGee My PS3 is my main system again. Such a great lineup of games, graphics that still hold up today and a real sense of fun compared to PS5.
I just wish that the DualShock 4 worked flawlessly with it.

Redfall got exactly the same kind of brutal attacks even though it was nowhere near as bad as people liked to make out.

I really don't like how one of the devs decided to get all angry and start talking about people though.
