@Ilyn I actually think that dedicated hardware from any manufacturer will be obsolete after PS6 and a PS7 will be completely unnecessary. Sony and Microsoft make no money from selling consoles and the R&D costs alone are ridiculous. A plug and play PC type box including the PlayStation and Xbox stores will be a win win for parents/gamers in general. And the fact that Asus already has a handheld capable of this shows that PC manufacturers are ready and able to do just that. Imagine a box under your TV that can access all of those games VS a PS7 that can only play PlayStation games.
@Ilyn I think that PS6 will be the last PlayStation console. The point of having a machine that's tied to only one ecosystem seems more and more ridiculous as time goes on. I don't think there will be a streaming only future just yet though. I've heard rumours that the next Xbox is likely to be even more of a PC in a box with the aim of having multiple store fronts available. Xbox, Steam, Epic etc. could all be accessible from a console like machine under your TV. That could be a game changer when you think about it.
Congratulations Sony! I'm delighted that you're delighted with your engagement numbers! The whole reason I bought my PS5 was to help with your engagement numbers so I'm glad that we're both winning!
@naruball I was basing it off the cuts, the statements about them losing money and the fact that Sony paid $3.6 billion for them. I think it's safe to assume that they haven't made any money for Sony.
I decided to play Max Payne 1 for the first time ever a few weeks ago and despite it being a little rough around the edges by today's standards, it's still a really great game.
However, I am totally stuck on the second nightmare stage and it's driving me crazy. 😥
That's fine. Don't put your game on a subscription service. But while you're at it, can you please stop milking your loyal customers dry and using sneaky tactics to inflate your game sales.
Good to hear. This site's review of Ghost Hunter echoed my own preferences. I'm tired of ever expanding game worlds and really appreciate more linear experiences these days. Even when I do have the time spend hours gaming, I find myself playing games that get to the point without requiring hours of padding.
It's why I've really been enjoying playing my PS3 and backwards compatible Xbox games recently.
@thefourfoldroot1 Yes Sony should have done a lot more. Porting some VR1 games across would have helped and had minimal impact on the in-house development teams. An easy win.
Killer7 was one of my favourite games when it came out and still is to the this day.
The GameCube version was far superior to the PS2 version (the same with RE4) but I think anyone who loved the original would be desperate for a remake.
It's a nice enough controller but I feel like they could have gone further with it to make it truly special.
People will complain saying that the eyes lighting up would be a waste of battery life, but I really doubt that anyone buying this is using it as their main controller.
This is going to sound stupid but I own pretty much all of the soulsbourne games but have barely played any of them. I keep seeing, more and more of people saying what a slog they are so I'm thinking of selling them all to reduce my backlog.
It definitely looks like it has captured the essence of the games. I have my fingers and toes crossed for another great video game adaptation after Fallout and The Last of Us.
@PuppetMaster Exactly! Nothing! Yet this site posts articles that mention Xbox and Switch all the time. But only when it's for Sony's perceived benefit. When there's something negative about the red or green they post tons of stuff to fuel pathetic console wars. And then people flood the comments with "Xbox sux, Switch is crap" kind of comments. It's purile, childish and, as a PlayStation fan, I wish they'd do better.
But I guess that engagement is more important than actually having objective opinions and standards.
PSVR2 has plenty of games. Just virtually none from Sony themselves.
I wish I had held of buying mine if I'm honest. I love VR in general but it seems like this is dead in the water now.
I have PSVR1, PSVR2 and a Quest 3. PSVR1 was a revelation for me and I only wish Sony had made better controls rather than forcing Move controls onto us.
PSVR2 has some incredible tech built in, amazing controllers but is absolutely going to fail. I'm gutted.
Meta aren't letting up with their VR push and have some amazing exclusive games coming up. There are also plans for new hardware further down the line. This is the platform I wish I'd solely gone with after PSVR1.
I'll get this on Xbox as I have the original 360 version still playable on Series X. With Killer Is Dead also playable, and Lollipop Chainsaw upcoming, all I need is a Killer7 and NMH 1+2 ports to be happy.
Killer7 came out on PC a while back and HD ports of NMH are on Switch so it's baffling to me that they haven't released everywhere else.
Someone else posted the idea somewhere that they should make a Mega Man Metroidvania. I'm fully onboard for this and think it would be a brilliant fit.
This generation is incredibly boring, underpowered and overpriced. I can name maybe two games that have genuinely impressed me so far.
Apart from the SSD, everything could have been achieved on the PS4 Pro or particularly the Xbox One X with virtually no compromise. Where's the justification of paying for another £450 system???
Some of the best PS3 games came out towards the end of that system's lifecycle. Why? Because developers had learned how to push the system for every last drop of performance.
We now have a situation where devs don't have to try to push hardware and consumers are asked to pay ridiculous sums of money, multiple times, for the privilege of playing games that actually look anything different from the previous gen.
@get2sammyb It would absolutely be a terrible outcome for the devs and creators but that's not the fault of gamers. In my opinion, any live service game should be free to play and be open to as many platforms that can handle them.
Restricting games like this makes no sense at all.
@DarthAmmii It's because the SNES introduced and popularised this style in the industry not because it has the highest tally of games. When people say SNES style, everyone knows what they mean.
@WaveBoy No I don't have a PC (yet) but absolutely love my Quest 3. The sweet spot is perfect and the lack of cable has made it so much more hassle free.
I agree that PSVR2 has better colour range but I see very little difference in the fidelity considering Quest 3 is half the price.
@Rob_230 For me, Game Pass has been more about finding games I would never have tried without the service. Plus if I like them, getting a 20% if I choose to buy.
Of course Game Pass was going to increase in price. Everything else in the world has. What baffles me is the way Microsoft have confused things by introducing the random tiers.
I have Game Pass Ultimate so the day one changes won't affect me personally.

Genuine question to PlayStation only/primary gamers - How many more generations of PlayStation do you think there will be?
Re: Never Has a Game Looked So Good Yet So Jank as PS5's Neo Berlin 2087

Re: Preview: Dead Rising Plays and Looks Like a Dream in PS5 Deluxe Remaster
@thefourfoldroot1 I think you made your intention quite clear when your earlier sentence was about cleavage.
Have I missed something?
There was no, witty irony involved in what you said. Despite you now trying to act like this was your plan.
Re: Preview: Dead Rising Plays and Looks Like a Dream in PS5 Deluxe Remaster
@thefourfoldroot1 Why would you say you're not going to play the game because it doesn't have enough digital cleavage???
According to this preview, the game is better in many ways.
Re: Preview: Dead Rising Plays and Looks Like a Dream in PS5 Deluxe Remaster
I'll stick with Chop Till You Drop on Wii.

I'm really pleased if this means that Tango can make more games like Hi-Fi Rush.
Re: Hi-Fi Rush Developer Tango Gameworks to Be 'Revived', Acquired By PUBG Publisher
@PegasusActual93 Zenimax makes Microsoft a lot of money. Bungie (so far) hasn't done so for Sony.

The PS5 is my least favourite PlayStation so far and I think at this point it sells purely based on the brand.
Re: Silent Hill 2 Remake Dev Asks Fans to Give It 'a Chance'
@Ralizah I completely agree that they should have remade the first game. It has so many improvement opportunities.
Re: Retro 80s SUNSOFT Releases Receive First-Ever English Translations on PS5

Re: Horizon VR Dev Still Recruiting for Its Big Budget PS5 Exclusive
@thefourfoldroot1 R&D project! 😂 Well I wished they had told me that before I shelled out £530.
I also think that, given the first party output on PSVR1, I'm entitled to have expected more from Sony themselves.
Re: Horizon VR Dev Still Recruiting for Its Big Budget PS5 Exclusive
The PSVR2 must surely be the quickest Sony has abandoned any piece of hardware. 😥
Re: Best PSVR2 Games
This definitely wouldn't be my list but I appreciate that it's user generated.
Good to see some PSVR2 articles again on this site. I love mine but just wish that Sony would flesh out the line up with some PSVR1 ports.
Blood and Truth, Astrobot, Dreams, Farpoint, Iron Man, and Until Dawn Rush of Blood would do very nicely.
Re: Tony Pankhurst, The Curator of The Dark Pictures Anthology, Has Passed Away
Very sad news.

Re: Mortal Kombat 1 Adds Outrageous Animalities, Massive Story Campaign, and Much More
@z0d15g0d You're completely right. Ghostface has been several different teens with a knife. And sometimes adults.
So exactly who the **** am I playing as??? Billy Loomis or Stu Macher? Or worse???
A better character to add would have been Sidney Prescott or Gale Weathers. I can even hear their names being said by the MK announcer.
Gale Weathers wins. Flawless Victory.
Re: Mortal Kombat 1 Adds Outrageous Animalities, Massive Story Campaign, and Much More
@scottdevine48 Despite MK9 and MK vs DCU being available on Xbox backwards compatibility, I would love to see remastered versions of both.

I do feel that the industry has been artificially lead towards an all digital future by hardware manufacturers and certain publishers.

Re: Final Fantasy Creator Finished with the Series, Sees Himself as a Player
I loved The Last Story. Such a brilliant game and a shame it seems to be locked onto Wii forever.
