Re: Capcom Making Resident Evil 0, Code Veronica Remakes Next, Reports Say

__jamiie

Thinking about it now, I would have liked if the remakes/new games each had a subtitle in the name with no number.

RE: Train Pain
RE: Spooky Mansion
RE: Cop Shop
RE: Racoon City
RE: Code Veronica
RE: Spanish Cult
RE: African Apocalypse
RE: QTE Terror
RE: Redneck Rampage
RE: Village

These aren't perfect but I like them more than numbers.

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Live-Action Trailer Revealed

It's good to see it on Game Pass but I don't think this will affect things much one way or another. It might do if Microsoft ever advertised the thing!

People who already own a PS5 are massively unlikely to buy an Xbox just to get CoD on Game Pass.

I'm more intrigued by the next gen rumours of multiple hardware partners making Xbox consoles in the same way that it happens with PC/laptops. That could really shake things up if they succeeded where 3DO/Sega Saturn failed.

Re: Rumour: New DOOM Game Reveal at Xbox Showcase, Coming to PS5

@The_Wailing_Doom Every single studio under Sony has been bought. When they launched the PlayStation there were no internal developers because Sony didn't make games. They bought them. And they've closed a lot of them. A LOT of them.

Microsoft were making video games in the early eighties. What have they done since that has been anti-consumer when it comes to PlayStation gamers???

Re: Rumour: New DOOM Game Reveal at Xbox Showcase, Coming to PS5

@Ergoshotz The days of consoles are over. Next gen will be the last. Xbox have been saying this for years. Sony still want to sell you a box under your TV. Microsoft will be earning billions from PlayStation and yet you see it as a win for Sony because they'll have more boxes under the TV. Very odd logic. And when it comes to hardware and software, Nintendo will continue to obliterate both when it comes to sales numbers and profitability.

Re: Rumour: New DOOM Game Reveal at Xbox Showcase, Coming to PS5

All of the other recent Doom games have been multiplatform. I don't understand how this is news. Years ago, Xbox said that they wouldn't take games away from players who were already part of a certain community or fan base. The fact that the new Doom will be on PS5 is an absolute given. It always was.

Re: The Next Naughty Dog Game Its 'Most Thrilling Yet', Says Neil Druckmann

Under promise, over deliver Neil. 😂

I'll have my fingers crossed for something good though as Uncharted is still my absolute favourite series ever.

On a slightly separate note (but something that I think could do the things claimed here), imagine a game with the scope, polish, narrative and yet freedom of the best GTA/RDR games combined with a Sci-Fi setting.

Basically what I'm asking for is R* to make a Rick and Morty game.

Re: GTA 5 Makes Up Almost Half of Series' Sales, 200 Million Copies Sold

__jamiie

The fact that R* was selling copies of the game including currency for cheaper than you could buy currency in game means there's a really weird economy with GTA V.

People were buying copies just to get virtual money then presumably selling their selling/trading in their copies to get more new copies and more currency. Very strange.

Re: A Lot of PS4 Owners Have Yet to Upgrade to PS5

__jamiie

The PS5 is definitely the most underwhelming PlayStation I've ever owned. I boxed away my PS4 Pro when I got my PS5 around a year after launch and apart from PSVR2, there's pretty much no reason for me to own one.

I've even recently set my PS3 up again in my living room because it's more fun to play. I recently bought Puppeteer and have had way more fun with that than anything on PS5.

Re: Sony Increasingly Focused on PS5 Playtime Alongside Hardware Sales

__jamiie

@Martijn87 I don't think Nintendo has suffered the post pandemic knock back in the same way that Sony and Microsoft have. The Switch sold amazingly during the pandemic and releases like Animal Crossing just added to that. Nintendo's first party titles continue to sell ridiculous numbers despite being over 7 years old in some cases.

Re: Sony Increasingly Focused on PS5 Playtime Alongside Hardware Sales

__jamiie

"After a transition period during the PS4 generation, the PS5 model has shifted to where playtime on platform has increased due to expansion of the user community beyond console generations."

In other words, you couldn't really make anything that compelling to show the big generational leap so you decided to push all the games onto PS4 as well so you'd make more money despite hampering the ability to show off what the PS5 can actually do.

Re: Sony Committed to Better First-Party Games, 'Richer' Experiences, More PS5 Users

__jamiie

@Maubari TBF, Xbox have been saying for years that selling hardware is irrelevant. And I'm fairly sure that the ABK deal they agreed with Sony only stipulated that Call of Duty had to be like for like on PlayStation hardware and Xbox hardware. If there's no Xbox hardware, then the game doesn't have to go to PlayStation hardware at all.

Either way, things are definitely not going well for the industry.

Apart from, as you said, Nintendo. They have their own corner of the market that they're very comfortable in.

Bespoke hardware that they sell for a profit. Hardware that sells millions upon millions.

First party titles that also sell millions upon millions (without costing hundreds of millions to make).

A gradually improving online offering (still very poor compared to Xbox and PS).

And a back catalogue of IP that's the envy of the entire industry.

I think Nintendo going their own way doesn't always work but right now they're incredibly strong.
