Re: Nearly 80% of All PS5, PS4 Games Are Bought Digitally

belmont

To be honest even though I still buy and play retro games I have stopped buying physical games. The only physical modern game I bought within the last 3 years is FF7 Remake (that I got it digital when it was discounted) and some collections of PS4 retro games.

I want game preservation but the modern physical games are ... well not good. They miss patches, dlc etc. It’s a physical license anyway rather than a physical game. The contents of the disc are always incomplete. Except Nintendo I don't see any other company cutting you from dowloading older digital games

Re: PS5 Folders, 1440p Support Part of New Beta Update Out Today

belmont

Am I the only one that is not a big fan of the PS5 UI?
The bigger problem is that there is no way to really check for updates for all the games, you have to it one by one (!!!!) for games not in the main screen, And then they GET ADDED in the main screen for no reason. Also why do we have the main screen and all those submenus with all those options... I find it very unintuitive and initially confusing. Singe tap to the home button takes you to a menu while a double tap takes you to another menu while holding it takes you to a third menu...

Also, all modern consoles, except PS4 make the folder think a mess. Switch has a bizzare system, in the 3ds you cannot see the name of the folder (!). The best are the Vita bubbles of the PS4 one.

Re: The Last of Us: Part I Is Coming to PC 'Very Soon' After PS5 Launch

belmont

@IonMagi FF7 Remake is 80€ in Steam. Seriously though I don't why a console manufacturer would release games in a competing platform... Makes buying PS5 less appealing, especially since PC games are more easily preserved. On the other hand my PC can't handle triple a games but the Steam Deck will probably will which makes the decision of not having a PS4 version of some games strange.

Re: Ys 8: Lacrimosa of Dana's PS5 Port Releases in November

belmont

I really like some aspects of the game that I don't want to spoil and the way you progress in the island, made me felt like I was the Green Arrow or something but I am so tired of the anime clichés in this game that tries to take itself seriously. All women hit Adol or have visions of him, the second male character hits women himself and fails miserably even though he is married and the Dana gameplay sections are boring. However, those tropes are abandoned in the end and the game is way better after Dana joins. The Vita origins of this game are clear but in PS4 the performance is good.

Re: Massive PS Store Summer Sale Is Live Now, 1,500+ Games Included

belmont

Sonic Origins is already 9 euros cheaper. Seems like yesterday when I preordered it. Also wasn't The Quarry released some days ago? On the other hand, from the top of my head I don't remember Forbidden West or Elden Ring being discounted. Some games keep constantly appearing over and over in those discounts. Neptunia X Senran Kagura: Ninja Wars is, to my knowledge, for the first time in discount but | don't think they will update this version to include the new PC content.

Re: Bill & Ted's Excellent Retro Collection for PS5, PS4 Is Totally Bogus

belmont

Ok I guess I may get the digital version. I have the Game Boy version. It is a below average game. Apparently they announced Plumbers Don't Wear Ties as well...

What a great time to be a gamer.

On a more serious note I ordered the Castlevania PS4 from Limited Run Games. From 35$ that is the initial price I ended paying 65€ due to shipping, customs, taxes etc.

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Games for June 2022?

belmont

To be honest those polls need the option: I don't care for the games, I just pay to play online or for cloud saves... I don't remember the last time I downloaded a Plus game... Personally I mostly pay for the convenience of cloud saves. I would much prefer if they ditched the free games and lowered the price of the essential subscription.

Re: Resident Evil 4 Remake Announced for PS5, Out March 2023

belmont

@WaveBoy I have played and beaten RE Village in PS4, PS4 Pro, PS5, Series S, a mid-range PC and in the Steam Deck. Yes, it is crazy, but I love this game. Believe me that all experiences were great. Seriously Capcom did a great job at optimizing and scaling the game. I don't know why they don't do this to this one too. Seriously it is not Final Fantasy 16 or Spider-Man 2. If the Steam Deck can play RE4 Remake so can the aging platforms. Obviously the PS5 was the best experience but you could not go wrong with any of them. I have never tried a VR game.

As for RE4 I know that it is a popular game, but I did not like it that much. I never got why they ditched the horror elements to create another adventure-shooter that they were already a lot of them. I never really liked RE5 either. Way action focused and a bizarre final battle that would be more suitable to a Superman game or something. On the other hand I did not find RE6 that bad. With the Leon and Ada portion looked like they wanted to please older fans and it kind of works, however I never truly enjoyed Chris or Sherry. They follower the action and stealth norm of the day that I could not stand.

They seem to want to change the story of RE4 and make it more horror based. This could work in RE5 or even 6 if they play their cards right. As you said the same could happen with RE0. The could minimize Rebecca's involvement and come up with a better setting.

You summarized the bad aspects of Code Veronica pretty well but the way they altered aspects of the story in RE2 and 3 Remakes shows that they can make it work. CV in this style with a more serious Steve and a better villain could work.

Re: Resident Evil Village Will Take Full Advantage of PSVR2 Sense Controllers

belmont

@get2sammyb TBH Sony's track record of actually supporting hardware that has not hit the masses is not that great. I don't want to say that PSVR2 will be a flop but I don't see an expensive add on for an expensive console that you still cannot buy easily (also in a bizarre worldwide economy) be much of a success. And few initial sales will lead to lower games been developed etc. and you move towards a Vita situation.
Edit: Now that I think about it the first VR is not very much supported, is it?

Re: Resident Evil 4 Remake Announced for PS5, Out March 2023

belmont

@WaveBoy Nobody asks Final Fantasy 16 to be on the PS4 but come on RE4 Remake can be released on the aging hardware. From the trailer it seems to use the same engine as Village that plays great on the PS4.

As for Code Veronica I am surprised to see such love for this game in the comments. I always thought that this game was not that great. Steve and the antagonist may be some of the worst characters on a mainstream game of this generation.

Re: PS Plus' PS1 Games Use Superior NTSC 60Hz Format in Japan

belmont

I live in PAL region but some PS Classics I have from way back are the American versions. However, the PS Classics Mini console had PAL games even in Japan? This makes no sense. They should offer both versions since some might want to play a German or Italian version. It was uncommon to have American versions with all languages. Personally, I would prefer the American version but I can sort of understand the issue. Stuff sometimes is frustrating. Before the PS2 era text heavy games had translated versions throughout Europe. I am a PAL gamer tha speaks English and I had bought by accident Italian or German versions of games and I can't understand them.

Seriously it is 2022, I thought this regional issues were way over over but here we are again...

Re: PS Plus, PS Now Merged Service Revealed, Goes Live in June

belmont

Seems that if you do not have Now in your region there is another option:

PlayStation Plus Deluxe For markets without cloud streaming, PlayStation Plus Deluxe will be offered at a lower price compared to Premium, and includes a catalog of beloved classic games from the original PlayStation, PS2 and PSP generations to download and play, along with time-limited game trials. Benefits from Essential and Extra tiers are also included. Local pricing will vary by market.

I really like that cloud services are not available in my region. I will get the classic games cheaper 🙂

Re: The Absolute Best Castlevania Just Turned 25

belmont

I have the PAL copy I got on release date. I feel old. I also have lots of its re-releases. As you can guess I am a Castlevania fan.

We did not have euros back then obviously but I paid 55 euros todays money for it.
