Re: Golden Joystick Reveals Nominations for 'Ultimate Game of the Year'

@Rich33 Yeah the thing is I don't care for turn based JRPGs (i still play them off and on) and I'm really burned out on Metroidvanias. Stellar Blade was a good action game but outside of the excellent combat, music and enemy design I cannot really praise it's story, characters or level design as anything more than derivative. But as a first game it is an impressive debut.

Astro is the only excellent game on the list from those I've played. FF7 Rebirth was a disappointment and quite frankly sucked big time. Metaphor has been so boring that I quit it and went to Armored core 6. Animal Well was good though I don't remember anything.

Edit: considering people can vote for this, Veilguard shouldn't be there due to its recent release.

Steam really wouldn't have changed much imo. It didn't help FFXVI recently. PC gamers are cheapskates who only buy games on deep sale.

The game also wasn't very good as a game. Great to watch but every moment of actual gameplay was terrible. It was no Control that's for sure. Add the weird SBI nontroversy (again manufactured by PC Gamers) and this game just would've struggled regardless.

@gollumb82 I love Forbidden West and think it is over hated by a very loud minority. Their is one narrative choice I dislike (their handling of certain character) but otherwise I love the story and think it has some of the best ranged combat in recent games for those who are willing to engage with it's many mechanics. Also the world looks stunning!

Beat Dead Space Remake. It was fine. Still a great game but I didn't care much for the additions of the remake (backtracking at any time, side quests etc). Talking Issac didn't add much either and detracted more often than not. 10/10 game. 7/10 remake.

Played Some Tomb Raider 2013. Completed over 40% before I hit a game breaking bug so that's that. Still the best of New Trilogy though but the writing is really bad compared to Uncharted. 8/10

Beat all 3 speed run levels in Astro. Fun.

Edit: I completely forgot I beat The Lake House DLC which was fine again. Interesting story for the Marmonts and the house and some intriguing ruminations on AI and what is art. Still got horrible gameplay and some very bad dialogue. 7/10. Marmonts as villains 10/10. Hyper for Control 2? 11/10.

From tomorrow I start Armored Core VI. Plan to get HZD remaster soon as well. I love Horizon so I'm definitely not gonna say no to playing it again.

Beat Jeanne D'arc. Great Game, a little too easy but that is perfect for someone who doesn't play that kind of game. 4.5/5.

Playing ASTRO BOT and it is fantastic. The first 5/5 game I've played this year and the most impressed I've been with a platformer since Mario Odyssey. The movement is just so good and it is whimsical. The music rules and I'm a sucker for seeing some of the old Playstation characters especially Jak and Daxter so far.
Just played the second VIP level and holy ***** it was incredible!

Re: PS5 Pro Reveal Is Already Sony's Most Disliked Console Announcement

breakneck

Again it's simple. Don't buy it if you don't want it. If you want to build a PC build it (Sony are already porting to it). The PS4 Pro never replaced the base PS4. The PS5 is still a great console unlike the PS4 which was already struggling at this time in its life cycle.

People need to be more zen. The invisible hand of capitalism will either reward or punish Sony and they'll accordingly double down or course correct.

Re: Poll: Are You Sold on PS5 Pro?

I think we need to see in action with Digital Foundry (Monster Hunter Wilds, Ff7 and Alan Wake 2 comparisons from them will help more than this video) before we can pass judgement. The breakdown on YouTube was too fast.
It is at the end of the day an enthusiasts console which is cheaper than an enthusiast PC but this won't help with Playstations negative perception.

Re: Astro Bot PS5 Sales 'Aren't Huge' in UK, But There's Still Hope

breakneck

I think word of mouth will help the game and goty nominations. Also a lot of people nervous about spending due to length and the UK public generally having no money.

Doesn't help Warhammer also came out which is a massive franchise. I think Playstation execs are smart enough to know that Astro is meant to be an evergreen title to sell over the years.

I think he does have a point. It is also quite eye opening to see how his generation thinks about these things versus people now.

The survival mentality of the early 2000's doesn't exist anymore with a more defeatist attitude now with a hint of entitlement/desperation. Not the fault of current employees either as it's been beaten out of them and companies have taken more and more advantage.

Just a fundamental change in thinking overall.

Got Astro Bot today but I'll probably start it tomorrow or on Monday as I'm in the final 2-3 stages of Jeanne D'arc and want to finish it. Great game but a little silly how the end chapter requires you to grind so much.

It is very funny but around 45 days back I bought Jeanne D'arc, Robocop and The Sexy Brutale on sale thinking they were all short and could be beaten before Astro Bot.
I was wrong. Ended up going for the platinum with Robocop and Jeanne D'arc is longer than I expected for a PSP game. Sexy Brutale will have to wait.

@themightyant yeah I realized this when I grinded out the Ni No Kuni 2 platinum. Good game but a horrible platinum that made me hate the game with a vengeance.
After that I decided I'll only go for platinum trophies that are easily attainable (Alan Wake 2) or really fun (Spidey 2).
I also switched off trophy notifications after they popped up during Shadow of The Colossus when the Colossi would die and the sad music would play. Seriously who thought that was a good time for a trophy notification .
