Again please listen to Sacred Symbols which has covered this topic a billion times. Consoles won't grow at the same pace as before but they're not going anywhere. The Switch, Playstation and PC ecosystems are competitive and symbiotic at the same time. The only outlier has been the Xbox and it's leadership that have constantly sold this concept to gullible people.
@TruestoryYep my assumption has always been that Capcom is rushing its devs quite a bit and we're starting to see the effects. They've released so many games and the devs are bound to start getting tired.
Dragons Dogma 2 was especially bad and I've not only noticed the Capcom influencers but a lot of Sega and a few Nintendo ambassadors too. Capcom are the loudest though and I can't say I'm a fan of the whole concept. It's why I still trust critics even when I disagree with them.
@xeofate yeah reaching Baldurs Gate in Bg3 is overwhelming with how much is going on. You get so many missions, constant conversations on screen. I slowly lost my interest for playing the act. But I made sure to do Shadowhearts companion quest.
@themightyant this is basically where I am right now. Sony and Nintendo single players almost always full price because they're high quality titles. Rockstar is the only other one. Xbox is a Gamepass Ultimate machine for the month I'm playing and immediately unsubscribe before the renewal.
Capcom, Sega, EA, Ubisoft can all be bought cheaper and with patches within 3 months.
@get2sammyb some other leaker called NickShapeshal or something also chimed in and said something about it being Sony providing resources and assisting in the development of the game and not being an exclusivity agreement.
Again this tracks with Xbox sleeping on the wheel with Bg3 where they didn't take the parity issues seriously until the game became a massive cultural phenomenon. Xdev and PlayStation is known to take an active role in assisting developers.
Nope it looked Average as heck from the trailers. I tolerate a lot of JRPG nonsense (people repeating the same action lines like Bonafied monafied, meandering story beats, easily telegraphed traitors) if the game or story is good but for something that looks this generic I have zero interest.
Sorry but this is dumb. During gamescom we heard that memory leaks on S were a thing. Del Walker literally spoke about how devs hate the series S and how difficult parity makes game making for both consoles.
Sony are usually very proud of exclusivity and would've gone out of their way to promote it.
This seems more like Xbox damage control now that yet another game has gone to Playstation as a lucky exclusive because feature parity burned Microsoft. We know Microsoft aren't really as helpful as Xdev with optimizing and helping other devs and only begin helping once a game is already a hit.
@ShogunRok I've notice both Nintendo and Sony this gen have held their cards really close to their chest (maybe a sign of investor confidence that they haven't been asked too many questions) but Microsoft needs to show a lot to keep investors... Invested in the Xbox brand.
CDPR outright depends on its games with GoG not really being much of a money maker so they have to be open to Shareholders. Same for Remedy who are fully into game development. Both can only handle 2 or so projects actively at a time too.
Sony do need to provide some single player updates soon though. The negativity is getting too loud.
@somnambulance yeah for me it wasn't even the bugs as much as it was boring with every character except Johnny being forgettable and a world that felt devoid of interesting things to do. I know most people love the game and I'm happy they do but my brother and I just felt tired throughout.
Tbf I didn't care too much for the Base game Witcher 3 which fell apart after The Bloody Baron but the side quests and especially the expansions were incredible. Hearts of Stone is probably the best DLC I've played after The Old Hunters and Lair of the Shadowbroker
@Titntin my launch PS5 had a disk drive failure early this year. So I got a PS5 slim with the detachable disk drive. Made me realize that except for the fact that a lot of my early PS4 games were physical I have ended up going mostly digital. But as long as I own Gravity Rush, Gravity Rush 2 and Bloodborne physically I will keep the disc drive.
Looks like it has the same face panels as the slim variants. It that assumption is true accessories and disc drives could be carried over from those who have the existing slim models.
Honestly no. Give how much it focuses on Playstation history it would be a bad decision since a lot of PC gamers seem to really have it out for the console and for every one or two hits Playstation gets on PC they get 3-4 flops.
This is so dumb? The gameplay looks a lot like Persona's why not drop you 2-3 hours in and let you interact with world or a dungeon to check out the combat.
I'm looking forward to the game but with most JRPGs I know it'll only get good after the 7th or 8th hour.
It's great that this game is coming to PS5 where a lot more people get to enjoy it but I'll probably play the game on Gamepass anyway (obviously if Series S performance is bad I won't but Id tech has never messed up) since I've been interested since the announcement trailer years ago and modern social media and YouTube thumbnails love to put spoilers.
I'll give the Sonic movies credit for one thing: the cast of voice actors outside of Sonic really do act and try to play with their voices a little. This looks fun but probably not cinema fun.
@Kanji-Tatsumi it's a great game and I was a lapsed turn based JRPG guy for 7 years before P5R got me into it again. It is why it's faults are easier to notice because it does so much well.
Tedious story telling in a JRPG. I feel like this is becoming a bigger problem with all games but especially JRPGs. Games even otherwise good ones like P5R and Ff7 Rebirth have middle acts that just go nowhere and exist to pad the game.
Like the rich girl in P5R who joins your team comes way too late to actually have much of a personality instead focusing more on Morgana vs the blonde dude.
@riceNpea as a consumer it isn't our job to care about the business unless it affects us/our region. I feel for Japanese consumers but I also think if it is negatively received they'll vote with their wallets obviously and go to competitors like PC or Xbox.
@Vivisapprentice which is really quite funny because a lot of the stores in Hong Kong are having pretty sizeable discounts (50-70 USD appx) because of how many people want it right now.
It's not good but at the same time Japan is truly not in good shape despite what the Nikkei indicates. Small and medium company employees have seen wages stagnate. The Japanese PS5 are being scalped and sold in China because it is cheaper and not region locked especially with Wukong fever.
I hope japan does stabalise the Yen soon so companies won't be able to make excuses for these silly decisions.

I don't understand why they're showing so much? All the reactions are positive to trailers. Maybe the marketing isn't leading to the pre-order numbers they want so they need to show more? Maybe they're trying to make it feel like an event like Square does for FF?
@Toot1st probably a mix of analytics regarding SEO and Engagement. Also it informs PS4 users that the game isn't coming on that console by virtue of not having it be mentioned in the headline itself.
@UltimateOtaku91 I think Pushsquare has generally got better coverage of Japanese/Asian games then PureXbox. NintendoLife has better Indie coverage than both. Purexbox has great reaction pieces.
Want to know the hilarious part? It doesn't matter people are still buying/pre-ordering the Playstation version.
For Atlus it is free money so I don't really fault them for that. But for Microsoft I'm very curious how these probably expensive deals helped with software and hardware sales for Yakuza 8 and this.
Edit: just interesting but Until Dawn Remake is on page one of the Best seller list in US and UK. I am always surprised by how popular the game is.
The Dark Pictures never really clicked for me unlike Until Dawn (their best) or The Quarry (good). I'm interested in this though but the idea of it being more... Stereotypical horror with the camera and active combat has me a bit iffy since I actually like the QTE combat which means it can be more cinematic.
Well in some good news, my doctor said my tendon that was cut is healing properly and I can walk around again. It hurts but it's nice to leave the house.
Playstation: I'm playing Jeanne D'arc. It is fun but really a game I can only do one or two missions a da because it does feel a little too easy 5 chapters in. Really enjoying playing something so different though and the little anime videos are great!
Switch: started Thousand Year Door. Wholly crap this game is gorgeous but also next time people call a Playstation game a walking and talking Sim. I'm going to point at this game and Pikmin 4. They Never Shut Up. You cannot skip dialogue. It's got that annoying sound effect every time they talk. It is almost never as funny as it thinks it is. I'm curious if this game will enamor me with it's looks and combat or whether this start and stop story telling and unskippable nonsense dialogue will make me drop it.
@Neither_scene I don't find it surprising since not being F2P is really dangerous for GaaS. People can complain all they want over battle passes etc but companies have successfully changed the wiring to have people not want to pay unless it is a game with massive hype.
Concord also had some very bad trailers which was the opposite of the great trailers HD2 had. Doesn't help that the art design isn't very strong like Destiny or Marathon where from the first trailer you're intrigued.
@colonelkilgore I mean they also had one of the biggest hits of the year in Helldivers 2 (a sony published online only game which was in development for 8 years like Concord). Also they're still making single player games. Astro is in 2 weeks. Ragnarok sold incredibly well.
@Flaming_Kaiser it's really quite bizarre how many predominantly PC players have found their way onto a dedicated Playstation site and then talk about how they've not had issues with their game.
Imagine going on Nintendo Life and talking about how MK1 is fine on PS5.
@OldGamer999 we really do but mostly because I just love the games they make. People may have issues with Spidey 2 or Horizon but they're technical masterpieces. TLOU2 still puts most current gen enemy AI to shame.
It is clear Capcom are increasing their focus on world interactivity (following Zelda) but that usually comes at the cost of performance.

I'm playing Jeanne D'arc. I'm in chapter 7. I'm really enjoying it. Hopefully I'll be done by Astro Bot day.
