Re: Xbox on Bringing Exclusives to PS5: The Industry Is Changing for All of Us

breakneck

If you listen to Sacred Symbols they've been parroting this for months. Xbox has created a narrative around console/premium gaming that is largely not true.
The Playstation 5 is doing well for a console with covid issues and a price increase and software sales are great. The Switch is a juggernaut. PC gaming is more accessible than ever. The only group bringing it down is Xbox.

Re: Xbox Renegotiated Indiana Jones Deal to Exclude PS5, Then Ported It Anyway

breakneck

I'm excited for this game but damn the whole trailer just had me wanting to replay U4 or 2 again. Like damn, those games rule. I hope Sony brings the franchise back if not with NDs development at least their story/creative input.

Regarding the business decision. If it is anything like Sonys deals with Disney? They need to hit certain sales targets, revenue and units. Probably Xbox negotiated with Playtime instead for GPU. Either way with their current hardware sales it seems like they have no choice but to go multiplat. Spider-Man is a gigantic franchise and Playstation do insane marketing and spending to ensure it's success. Xbox doesn't have that with Indy.

Funny part is? Had someone negotiated for an Indy game now, they probably would've got a better deal from Lucasfilm after the last movie became a flop.

Re: 12 Major PS5, PS4 Games Leaving PS Plus, Including Horizon Forbidden West

breakneck

Not surprised since HFW was used as a test case to see if a MS GP style approach to to PS exclusives soon after release on Plus was worth it. Ended up costing them a lot of revenue.
Source? Insomniac leaks

Also, HFW and Midnight Suns are on sale very often and are worth buying since they're high quality games that are best played at your own pace.

Re: Alan Wake 2 Still Hasn't Made Remedy Any Royalties, But Work Is Underway on Max Payne's PS5 Remakes

breakneck

So a few issues:
1. Alan Wake being a decade old console exclusive release meaning a huge chunk of the audience won't care for a direct sequel.
2. Going the full survival horror route which hasn't really worked for any game in AAA that's not Resident Evil.
3. Gameplay just isn't very good imo despite enjoying the artistic choices, cutscenes and music. The game is slow, bosses suck, the mind palace is too limited.
4. Backtracking for the platinum sucks but this is a me problem lol.
5. A game you can watch on YouTube and have the full experience minus the bad part that is actually playing the game.

It is really weird that they made this when they had some of the best gameplay in Control and it's incredible movement. Night Springs was a step in the right direction. Leaning into the whackiness while also having less combat overall.

Re: Dead Rising's PS5 Remaster Will Strip Bonus Points for Erotic Photos

They've gone Sbi or Dei or woke or whatever. Time to make a 45 minute video on YouTube crying about this while selling Nord VPN subscriptions or something.

In all honesty, it's quite silly to remove this but I also understand they want to be a little more sensitive now that they're a big company and stuff like this will get discourse one way or another. Maybe it no longer reflects the feeling of the devs and team and they're embarrassed by the feature.

Re: It Took PS5 Longer Than PS4 to Pass 4 Million Units Milestone in the UK, But There's Context

breakneck

@PsBoxSwitchOwner the amount we earn is nowhere near equal to the increase in prices for most products including games. CPI and inflation have gone far beyond the salary increases of the working class. Since 2022 most lower and lower-middle income british households have cut their spending and reallocated it to electricity bills and food.

Europe has been hit far worst than the rest of the world when it comes to inflation.

Re: PS5 Sales Reach 60 Million Milestone, Now at 61.7 Million Consoles Sold

breakneck

Mochizuki has always been pessimistic on Sony so I'm not surprised.

Personally I think being behind to the ps4 by 1.8million units while being in a recession period, having covid shortages and having a price Increase while already being more expensive is actually stronger than I expected. I don't think it'll beat the PS4 lifetime but I also never expected it to because the covid bump was false growth (I don't think the Switch 2 will hit the Switch 1 numbers either).

People forget that The PS2 was also bolstered by extremely strong third parties mixed with First party software.

I do think two areas Sony need to improve on is building hype (TGS may bring this back) and mixing more smaller AA games from younger teams (miles morales type) to keep the first party looking strong.

Re: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth PS5 Sales Still a Secret as Square Enix Reports Year-on-Year Decline

breakneck

Regarding the sales of Rebirth I'm not surprised.

Releasing in a crowded JRPG schedule fighting for the same group of players is bound to hurt it. Especially with Squares inflated judgment of sales success.

It doesn't help that they're comparing a pandemic launch at the end of the console lifecycle to a mid gen console within a time of economic messes and high inflation.

The extremely high budget and divisive nature of the game doesn't help either. Most people would wait for the third game to buy the triplet package if they were smart too.

Square going aggressively multiplatform won't give them the success they hope for until they reduce budgets heavily. The PC market mostly buys games on sale/cheaper based of basic reading and research, the Switch 2 could have potential but I don't honestly see it being more than another mil or 2 units.

Re: Silent Hill 2 Remake Dev Asks Fans to Give It 'a Chance'

breakneck

I don't think a lot of players will have issues unless it is really broken but games media and online buzz will likely be overwhelmingly negative given Bloober and Konami's reputation.

Personally it doesn't appeal to me but I've always thought SH was overrated but had great creature and atmospheric design.
