I have a weird history with the franchise. While I very much enjoyed Zero Dawn, I didn't LOVE it. And I expected the same with Forbidden West. However, and now please don't laugh at me, I totally fell in love with FW, not only because of the world, but also due to the gyro aim option. It totally elevated the game for me and let me play it how I always imagined it. I have the platinum and roughly 150 hours in this game. There's nothing any more for me to do. Yet, I refuse to leave this world and still play it every now and then. Just wandering around taking the world in. Needless to say, I am very curious now what the future holds for the franchise.
Incredibly talented studio. I think they're in the process of establishing a new PS mascot with Astro which is an achievement in itself. Their VR game is one of my favorite games ever and I can't wait for what they're cooking.
I got my copy yesterday and just started playing. I skipped all the cutscenes in the demo as I was only curious to get a feel for the combat. I started a new game and I'm still in the demo areas but my first impression is very strong. Let's hope it'll get even better. I'm pumped.
Those idiots will make sure that I'll never get to play a game early again. I would imagine that PS will handle it similarly to Xbox in the future, so that you can't play physical copies until release day.
I didn't play it all the way through and skipped all the cutscenes as I didn't want too much of it spoiled. However, I wanted to get a feel for the combat. And I can safely say now that it was even better than I would have thought from the gameplay we've seen. Even more hyped now.
@practicein2021 First party studios have multiple teams working on different games at the same time. Insomniac, Naughty Dog and Guerrilla are working on three games each right now
@Shepherd_Tallon Avowed looked surprisingly rough imo. I was looking forward to seeing it and I love my fantasy games but I guess I was hoping for it to be "darker" in tone? I think that's what left me a bit disappointed. The color palette and the whole vibe just didn't quite hit for me.
There haven't been a lot of games on Xbox over the last ten years or so that I truly love. However, I adore the Fable series and I am beyond disappointed with the new direction. I get it, they want to modernize it and I appreciate that. However, nailing the Fable vibe was still a must for me and I don't see it. Exactly what I was fearing the most. A British accent and corny jokes alone just don't do it. It might still turn out as a great game in the end but from what I've seen so far, it doesn't deserve the name.
I think overall it was a very solid showcase although not a whole lot from 1st party spoke to me apart from Clockwork Revolution. Unfortunately, I am not too much into Bethesda RPGs, so Starfield will be a pass for me but I am sure this is the game that every Bethesda fan was hoping for and more. Kudos to Xbox for ramping their game up this year.
Still, looks like I'm good without the console for at least another 2 years but I am open for that to change anytime.
This is the first time in years that I believe it will be a great showcase for Xbox first party titles. That said, I can't help the feeling that there will be a lot of promising footage and the end results will be disappointing yet again. Not because I want that to happen, quite the contrary, but Xbox has done this to themselves. Maybe I'll "trust" them again once those games have come out and turned out great.
I am a staunch proponent of physical and will buy physical whenever I can but it won't stop me from buying games I am looking forward to. Alan Wake 2 is still a day one buy for me. However, I may be more selective or wait for sales for other titles in the future.
I might continue the Lies of P demo although I've already seen enough to convince me. I've beaten the first boss and thought this would be it but it seems to be a very lengthy demo and not sure yet whether I want to have much more spoiled.
Other than that, it's probably going to be Red Matter 2 on PSVR2.
For certain types of games, I've really come to love cloud gaming. With a handheld that is which is why I am one of probably three people total looking forward to hearing more about the Project Q remote play device. While it works alright with the phone and a controller attachment, screen size is still an issue sometimes, especially with UI fonts. Outside of remote play in my home environment, I'm not sure I'd ever make use of cloud gaming though.
@PegasusActual93 I see people bringing this up all the time but this isn't the case at all, it's rather an exception. If you mean D1 patches, that is absolutely true but, unless otherwise stated on the case, there has to be a gold master on the discs.

@Vacuumator 4K 60 fps iirc
Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Extra, Premium Games for July 2023?
@Danloaded The 4th is also in Extra if I'm not mistaken. With the next gen upgrade, it's even better than 5 imo.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 485
@Zuljaras Bro, you're camping for those posts to go up, aren't you?
For me, a little bit of Crisis Core Reunion which I finally started this week and probably starting with Synapse on PSVR2.
Re: The Sublime Hitman: World of Assassination Is Getting a Physical PS5 Release
@SoulChimera Yes, please. Was thinking the same thing. Unbelievable game in VR.

Re: Microsoft's Potential Game Plan in 2020: 'Spend Sony Out of Business'
@Rangers420 They do a good job of portraying exactly that notion to the public, that's for sure. Unfortunately, a lot of people are falling for it.
Re: Existence of 'Undisclosed' Rockstar VR Game Leaks via Actor's Resume
@naruball Imagine their kids saw that. They'd be irrevocably ruined! (Caution: Irony).
Re: Existence of 'Undisclosed' Rockstar VR Game Leaks via Actors' Resume
Releasing a Bully game in this day and age would be ballsy to say the least. I don't think it's ever going to happen.
Re: First Final Fantasy 16 Review Awards a Near-Perfect Score
@Kevw2006 Yeah, it didn't bother me that much either although it's quite noticeable in some areas. But far from unplayable imo.
Re: First Final Fantasy 16 Review Awards a Near-Perfect Score
@Kevw2006 feels exactly the same to me. The fps dips are still present with the D1 patch installed.

Re: Stunning PSVR2 Action Adventure Hubris Is Just One Week Away
My plan to always have a new pancake game and a VR2 game at the ready has worked out quite nicely so far. This will be my FF16 "companion".
Re: Time Travelling Opus Wanderer Rewrites History with Impressive PSVR2 Remake
One of my favorite PSVR games. Will definitely jump back into this.
Re: PSVR2's Arashi: Castles of Sin Is the Virtual Reality Ghost of Tsushima You've Been Dreaming Of
@CaptD That's what I'm sensing as well. Still have my PS4 copy sealed. An upgrade path would be very welcome but I don't think so either.
Re: Hot Off Demo Hype, Lies of P Gets Impressive 9 Minute Gameplay Showcase
@naruball same here. After the first boss, I wanted to keep going and going but stopped myself. I was convinced already.
Re: Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Brings Sci-Fi and Far Cry Together in Impressive PS5 Gameplay
Love Far Cry, love the universe. Bring it on. I'm interested.

Re: Sony's Huge PS Store Days of Play Sale Is Live Now, Get the Best PS5, PS4 Deals Here
