Re: Guerrilla's PS5, PS4 Horizon Multiplayer Game Is a Massive Shift for Studio

dschons

I have a weird history with the franchise. While I very much enjoyed Zero Dawn, I didn't LOVE it. And I expected the same with Forbidden West. However, and now please don't laugh at me, I totally fell in love with FW, not only because of the world, but also due to the gyro aim option. It totally elevated the game for me and let me play it how I always imagined it. I have the platinum and roughly 150 hours in this game. There's nothing any more for me to do. Yet, I refuse to leave this world and still play it every now and then. Just wandering around taking the world in. Needless to say, I am very curious now what the future holds for the franchise.

Re: First Final Fantasy 16 Review Awards a Near-Perfect Score

I got my copy yesterday and just started playing. I skipped all the cutscenes in the demo as I was only curious to get a feel for the combat. I started a new game and I'm still in the demo areas but my first impression is very strong. Let's hope it'll get even better. I'm pumped.

Re: Poll: What Do You Think of the Final Fantasy 16 PS5 Demo?

dschons

I didn't play it all the way through and skipped all the cutscenes as I didn't want too much of it spoiled. However, I wanted to get a feel for the combat. And I can safely say now that it was even better than I would have thought from the gameplay we've seen. Even more hyped now.

Re: Reaction: Solid Xbox Showcase Should Give Sony Some Incentive to Stop Being So Damn Cloak and Daggers About PS5, PS4

dschons

There haven't been a lot of games on Xbox over the last ten years or so that I truly love. However, I adore the Fable series and I am beyond disappointed with the new direction. I get it, they want to modernize it and I appreciate that. However, nailing the Fable vibe was still a must for me and I don't see it. Exactly what I was fearing the most. A British accent and corny jokes alone just don't do it. It might still turn out as a great game in the end but from what I've seen so far, it doesn't deserve the name.

I think overall it was a very solid showcase although not a whole lot from 1st party spoke to me apart from Clockwork Revolution. Unfortunately, I am not too much into Bethesda RPGs, so Starfield will be a pass for me but I am sure this is the game that every Bethesda fan was hoping for and more. Kudos to Xbox for ramping their game up this year.
Still, looks like I'm good without the console for at least another 2 years but I am open for that to change anytime.

Re: Don't Panic if Third-Party Games Aren't Immediately Announced for PS5, PS4 in the Aftermath of Xbox Showcase

This is the first time in years that I believe it will be a great showcase for Xbox first party titles. That said, I can't help the feeling that there will be a lot of promising footage and the end results will be disappointing yet again. Not because I want that to happen, quite the contrary, but Xbox has done this to themselves. Maybe I'll "trust" them again once those games have come out and turned out great.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 480

dschons

I might continue the Lies of P demo although I've already seen enough to convince me. I've beaten the first boss and thought this would be it but it seems to be a very lengthy demo and not sure yet whether I want to have much more spoiled.
Other than that, it's probably going to be Red Matter 2 on PSVR2.

Re: Sony: Cloud Gaming Is an Amazing Business Model, But There Are Big Challenges

For certain types of games, I've really come to love cloud gaming. With a handheld that is which is why I am one of probably three people total looking forward to hearing more about the Project Q remote play device. While it works alright with the phone and a controller attachment, screen size is still an issue sometimes, especially with UI fonts. Outside of remote play in my home environment, I'm not sure I'd ever make use of cloud gaming though.
