Re: PSVR2 Isn't Backwards Compatible with PSVR Games, Sony Confirms

invictus4000

I'm on the same page as most with this, it sounds like. Hugely disappointed but I can totally understand the reasoning.
I was waiting on this news to know what to do with my VR1 and hadn't bought Moss 2 yet just in case news of a port came. Guess I'll hang onto my 1 until we know the full launch line up. If Moss 2 isn't there I'll buy it, play it, then sell my VR1.

I'll be 100% ok with all this if they can just port over Astrobot Rescue Mission, Moss 1 and 2, Rush of Blood, and maybe a few others. I'm positive Astro will get ported, maybe even be a launch title, and fairly confident the Moss games will be brought over too at some point but I wish they would just TELL US whats going on and what to expect!

I need to go meditate.

@MattSilverado I hear ya on the wire initially being a bummer but to be honest its a massive plus in the end. The one other benefit of the wire you didn't mention is the most important one and the very thing that can potentially make it the best VR headset yet: processing power. Because of the wire it can fully utilize the power of the PS5 instead of needing to cram its own horsepower into the headset itself.

Re: Why the PS5's Price Hasn't Changed in USA

So glad I got mine already. Haha. People will complain but still get one anyway. Even though a PS5 is a luxury item, people have a way to get what they want regardless of budget. If their mind is determined to get something, it will happen somehow whether its considered affordable or not.

Re: Cute Platforming Sequel Moss: Book 2 Sniffing Around PSVR2

invictus4000

@Shepherd_Tallon Thats crazy you haven't played it! Haha. But its also exciting knowing you still get to do that for the first time. Heck, maybe if you keep waiting it will be at launch on VR2.
I dont wanna be overly dramatic, but to me Rescue Mission was the Mario 64 of VR. The game that made me realize "Oooooh so THIS is what VR can be". Made me realize that VR doesn't just have to be gimmicky tech demos but actual full experiences.

Re: Final Fantasy 16 Producer Knows That Its Combat System Won't Satisfy Everyone

invictus4000

@freddquadros Exactly. Even if this battle system is well made, it has to be integrated well too. For example, FF7Rs balance between old and new was cool, but that games story and exploration was so broken you never got to actually use it. I feel like there were like, a dozen battles in that entire game. Haha. To me, to make an FF tick, it has to have these things in order of importance:
1) Deep characters that you love and that have a proper arc.
2) A compelling, comprehensive story
3) Satisfying exploration and party management (not linear)
4) A fun battle system

I 100% get where he is coming from. At the end of the day you have to make a product that will sell in the current climate but as a fan thats been with the series since FF2(4) on the SNES, it still makes me a bit sad to see this shift away from turn-based already completed in the industry. The RPGs of the Golden Era are long gone and won't be coming back.
But you know, at the end of the day I play FF for STORY and CHARACTERS and that is precisely where the series has really fallen in my opinion since 10. That's what they should be focusing thier efforts on regardless of battle system. I still think 9 was the pinnacle of the series. Great story, great characters that had proper arcs, satisfying ending, etc.
Anyway, if FF16 can deliver on a good story with good characters and satisfying exploration, I'll be happy. I've played my share of action RPGs and this style of combat can be really fun too so I'm willing to give it a solid chance.

As a side note, how freaking cool would it be if SE had two lines of FF games being developed at all times? Kind of like how Zelda and Mario both have 2D and 3D entries, both having different rules and expectations. One line could be new 3D FFs with all the newest gaming trends while the other line could be old school SNES or PS1 style turn based stories that were cheaper to develop?

Re: Poll: Is PS Plus Premium Good Enough?

Lunar
Legacy of Kain 1 & 2
Legend of Dragoon
Megaman Legends 1 & 2
Metal Gear Solid 1 & 2
All Final Fantasys
Parrapa the Rappa

...to name just a few off the top of my head. I mean...PS1 and 2 are a near bottomless well of classics to pull from. For how much that tier costs, I'm still shocked they didn't do the "Netflix for games" setup everyone thought Nintendo would do with NSO. Am I crazy or is this a MASSIVE missed opportunity to do something revolutionary with legacy catalogs?

Re: The First Descendant Looks Like a Graphical Powerhouse, Coming to PS5, PS4

invictus4000

@Grimwood Had the exact same thought. I can appreciate the fact that Sony is being true to thier word and not leaving behind the PS4 players while stock is short but I'm still a little disappointed everytime I see that PS4 logo on the end of a trailer. I'm always like "oh, so this is last gen, then". Even Forbidden West, which looked and played amazing, I think could have been more if not held back to straddle both consoles.
Ratchet and Clank and Returnal were both PS5 only but other than that...is there anything really big? Waiting for FF16 for this reason...

Re: Reaction: Meta Quest 2's Price Hike Will Have PSVR2 Relieved or Rubbing Its Hands

invictus4000

Hoping for a good price point obviously but I'd almost pay anything at this point. I'm so hyped! This is one of the main reasons I got a PS5.
My last hope is that it will be backward compatible and that the big VR1 games like Astrobot and Moss will have VR2 upgraded versions. No Mans Sky has already confirmed to be doing that so I don't think its too far fetched.
I just can't wait for a refreshed VR experience. VR1 was the last "magical" moment this aging gamer experienced but the tech is ancient now and I need this updated, high-res, feature-loaded headset in my life! Maybe it will even launch with another Astro Playroom which was a ball on VR1.
My wallet is ready, Sony. Throw it at me!

Re: First Photo of PSVR2 in the Flesh Emerges

invictus4000

I just need this thing to be backwards compatible. Pleeeease.

If it is...100% DAY 1. PSVR had its flaws, a few big ones in fact, but it was a revelation for what gaming can be. Hands down that Astro Bot, Moss, and No Mans Sky on VR are some of the most magical experiences a gamer can have right now.
I think its safe to assume that PSVR2 will resolve most, if not all of 1's flaws and if thats true its gonna be MIND BLOWING. Cannot wait.
