Re: Opinion: The Price of Playing PS5 Games Day One Is Getting Higher and Higher

Callmegil

Usually I get keys because I don't appreciate monopolised industries. But at the same time, I've realised that with PlayStation and Nintendo, you're paying the extra tax that comes with their brand. On PC you don't have that tax. If I have to wait a year to play a game, I'll wait. There's other things I can do for, playing a game day one isn't priority.

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Hasn't Removed Yasuke, But Dev Focused on Historical Accuracy

Callmegil

@GreatAuk You're being very reasonable and in that regard, you're 100% correct, this is likely what happened. Maybe it's because we have different views and see this issue differently — I don't know how you see it, but to me it's just romanticising the idea of "What If..?", stories are told on what ifs, I'd say this is one of them.

The existence of this game is indeed only because Yasuke was black and ended up in Japan. Before arriving in Japan, Yasuke was in India and we don't have a game about that, if Yasuke ended up in the Middle East, we wouldn't have a game about it. If Yasuke never left African, we wouldn't have a game about it either, but it's not because Ubisoft, it just so happens the West romances Japan a lot more than MENA. The only game the West loves about MENA is Call of Duty where you shoot Arabs.

Me personally, no I wouldn't. I love stories, as unlikely as they may be. I would love for them to try, but we'll never see it because it's against correct politics. I'm as black and white as they come, either it's all bad or they're all allowed. If it's ok for a black man in Japan bashing Japanese than it's ok for a white man in Africa bashing Africans.
PS: I survived 2 Human Centipede films, don't ask me to be normal.

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Hasn't Removed Yasuke, But Dev Focused on Historical Accuracy

Callmegil

@GreatAuk In what aspect? If you're referring to choosing Yasuke because he's African, yes absolutely. I would agree 100% if Yasuke was the only playable character, but he's not. There's a Japanese character as well that is a traditional assassin. People want to argue they'd prefer to play as a man who's Japanese, but that's not a critic it's a preference. I just don't understand why they have to voice their preference at the same time they voice they don't want to play as a black character.
Listen to these two and tell me if there's a difference: 1) "I want to drive a Ferrari" 2) "I don't want to drive a black dirty Ford, I want a Ferrari"

Re: Insider Report Adds Context to Assassin's Creed Shadows' Big Delay

Callmegil

@Gunnerzaurus You can defend them, but the reality is their criticism boils down to Yasuke being black. There really isn't a valid critic.
Also, the Japanese government responded saying they don't care, it's a video game and it's fiction. The people who spread this misinformation are the same people you're choosing to defend —why would you spread more misinformation?

Re: Ubisoft Board Orders Internal Investigation and Review into Company's Financial Woes

Callmegil

"How optimistic are you feeling about Ubisoft these days?"

  • Not very good. I was interested in Shadows after watching a bit of the gameplay, but in the past few weeks it has gone down significantly, due to how Star Wars Outlaws was released. That game is the peak standard of how NOT to release a game. If Ubisoft wants to adhere to that standard, they're more than welcome to, but I don't see myself buying a product that plays worse than Sonic '06.

Ever since Breath of the Wild released, Ubisoft has had this notion that they need to match it, but somehow they're taking notes from everything BotW does wrong, as opposed to what it does right, which is not a lot. TotK is a better standard by a large margin.

Either I'm seemingly losing interest in games, or gaming is just boring and unoriginal

Re: Talking Point: Can PS5, PC Shooter Concord Be Saved?

Callmegil

Yes, it can! Here's my 4 Year roadmap of what the Devs should do.

  • Apologise to the fan base for the actions of some developers, disavow the language used (especially the modern audience one), take accountability and promise to improve.
  • Remove controversial themes and UI choices.
  • Make the game Free-to-Play.
  • Revamp the current design of the characters, make them worthy of R34.
  • Pay artists to draw these characters in relatable and appealling settings, like Christmas, Halloween etc.
  • Introduce more modes: Payload, CTF, Attack/ Defend, Rumble/ Royale (due to low players count, 20 will do)
  • Partner up with animation studios to make a series about the characters and their background (Imagine Arcane, now aim higher).
  • Release very intriguing story mode following the events of the animation series (very important).
  • Introduce more characters and guest playstation characters (they have to change in order to fit the universe)
  • Create world events that affect every player (idk a meteor crashed and destroyed a whole map).
  • Whatever the above is, team up with Fortnite for a simultaneous event. Share skins with Fortnite and vice versa.
  • Tease a multiverse. Introduce reverse, anti and villain characters.

In other words, hire me.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Black Myth: Wukong?

Callmegil

Nah, it looks like Sekiro which reminds me I haven't beat it yet. So I don't plan on adding to my backlog. It's been very long since this game was announced, if I wasn't interested then, I doubt I will be now. But happy to those who are loving it.

Re: Golden Order Restored as Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree Recovers from Review Bombing

Callmegil

@sonicmeerkat Yes! The review section isn't a place for silly comments, that's what the community section is for. On Amazon, if you review a product saying "Silly Sony, I won't make a PSN account, eat me" — your review will be deleted as it's not constructive. It doesn't address the product nor does it reflect your experience and others can't make head or tails of how this product

Yes, performance issues are a problem but the comments we're referring to are not about performance. A review is a definite comment on the entire experience of a product. Any review that does not fall under this category is not a review. When something that is not a review is posted with the intent to be negative due to your emotions, you are review bombing. You're not being critical because the product is bad, you're being critical because you're emotional.

Re: Helldivers 2 Director Defends Elden Ring Difficulty: 'Always Cater to a Select Audience'

Callmegil

It's hard because people can't play. I played Elden Ring and it felt purposeless because the learning curve was huge. But once you get past that, the difficulty is no longer questionable, because now you're assessing what you're doing wrong in relation to what the boss is doing. These people play Elden Ring like it's Kingdom Hearts 3. You'll struggle with that, this is not a combo game, it's see and react game.

Re: Ex-Sony Boss Shawn Layden Explains How to Make Games Faster, Cheaper

Callmegil

Unfortunately the game audience is more preoccupied with graphic fidelity and teraflops than what's truly important and that is a fun game worth playing.

I stopped playing certain games because they appeal to a broader audience that won't tolerate poor graphics or no open world, even though they're not necessary for the core game (it's a turn based game). Developers are fixated on things that are not important. Look at COD, why is COD 100GB? It's an online game, it's not open world, it doesn't have a lot of voice lines, there isn't many things to do? How come Elden Ring does have all of that and more and it's ⅓ of the size?

Gaming has become inefficient because the community has unrealistic standards and the developers have little time and the stakeholders have a disconnection of what's important. As long as these are a problem, nothing will change.

Re: Concord PS5, PC Has Six Action-Packed Modes at Launch

Callmegil

@UltimateOtaku91 This is when you employ Nintendo Tactics; you unlock online by completing tutorial and chapter 1. They already made the characters quirky and corny, that's fine it's part of the charm. If they can't grab the consumer's attention to carry on playing Single Player, you were doomed to fail to begin with.
Some developers include exclusive cosmetics, characters and so on in the story.

Trying is better than not trying.

Re: Concord PS5, PC Has Six Action-Packed Modes at Launch

Callmegil

The only issue I see with Concord and it's the only one is no dedicated story mode. I don't think I've seen a Hero Shooter with one, that's what it needs to stand out. The competition is VERY stiff, going in with nothing unique is tantamount to cruising on a sinking ship.

Re: PC Players Are Fuming Until Dawn, God of War Ragnarok Appear to Require PSN Logins

Callmegil

@CaptainRPG This is a lot of conjecture.
You only need internet to link the first time, after it's linked you no longer need internet or login ever again to PSN. Even if you did, you should have a portable device with you that gives 5G connection Internet, no?

"When Sony eventually shuts down the authentication check" — huh? What authentication check? Why would Sony shut that down specifically? For your information, the "authentication" is saved locally on a bin file where the parameters are either True if you linked it, and False if you didn't. Not entirely sure where you got that information from, but I would recommend you to not spread misinformation.

So other than it's "inconvenient to do this once for 2 minutes", what other concerns are there?

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Reveal Trailer Is Already the Most Disliked in Series History

Callmegil

@PrettyPawsome Just as you sent this, I read a comment that actually addressed the issue and it's from a perspective I didn't consider it. I understand what they're saying now, it's just so happens that the loudest voices are using their voices in the wrong way.

This is what it said: "The concern is more about representation, specifically how East Asian men are portrayed in Western media. There is a perception that East Asian men are often depicted in a way that undermines their masculinity. They are frequently shown as less masculine, more feminine, or as comic relief, rather than as strong, heroic, or powerful figures.

When a role that could showcase a strong, masculine East Asian character is given to a character of a different race (in this case, a black samurai), it can feel to some that another opportunity for positive masculine representation of East Asians is lost. This is seen as part of a broader pattern where East Asian men are not given the same opportunities to be seen as masculine heroes in Western media"

I totally understand this now, I didn't before. I'm sorry I'm not addressing your points directly, but I understand what you're
saying also in contrast to this.

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Reveal Trailer Is Already the Most Disliked in Series History

Callmegil

@PrettyPawsome Feel free to give me an example of a genuine and honest complaint that doesn't automatically go into "DEI" or "woke". I personally haven't seen any, I gave you the examples I have seen that are the loudest.

Because it is black and white, the moment you get involved you're sitting on one side or the other, neither are good or bad, we're just talking. I would love to debate this with someone who genuinely has a complaint but I haven't seen anyone who does. My only references are the ones I gave you.

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Reveal Trailer Is Already the Most Disliked in Series History

Callmegil

@PrettyPawsome Because the "decent and reasonable" complaints are not congruent when challenged. Thus it is easy to see between the lines. Here's a small freebie:

  • "Yasuke was not a samurai", but many Japanese media has portrayed him as such. The argument is inconsistent.
  • "AC aims for historical accuracy", despite popular belief, this hasn't been the case in any of the games.
  • "Yasuke stands out too much, he can't do stealth", stealth in AC games has been heavily decreased in Valhalla.
  • "A black person killing Japanese people is problematic", just like blazing the streets of Yemen in CoD? Or running people over in GTA? NPC are there to be smacked, but when you do it in O' Sacred Land of Japan, then it's a problem?
  • "it should have been a Japanese male", I don't think feelings are a valid argument

I don't think you're racist, but you're very hard to play Feelings Police on a topic that shouldn't be that deep to begin with. You can feel however you wish, we don't have to consider your feelings. When your arguments fail to align with reason, you might have ulterior motives.

Re: Poll: Years Later, How Do You Feel About PlayStation's PC Strategy?

Callmegil

I play with PC and Switch, if playstation releases cool games on PC, I'll play it. If Playstation asks me to sign in to PSN, I'll sign in. Unlike some, I'm consistent with my actions. I don't play favourites. The only thing I won't tolerate from PlayStation is making games need 32GB RAM minimum to run. That's a NO from me.
