NICE!!! I’d been holding off on buying Evil West since it came out and now I’m glad I did. Also been interested in A Plague Tale so January is starting off on the right foot for free game offerings for me this year!
Really glad to see this absolutely fantastic remake on a Top 10 GOTY list. For me personally, it was top 5 or maybe even top 3 based on what I’ve played but definitely glad to see it get some well deserved recognition.
Not a lot of time for gaming this weekend what with the Christmas holiday approaching. But what time I’ve had I’ve been alternating between grinding out the last 15K or so kills I have left in COD: MW3 Zombies and playing the excellent Spider-Man 2. I have to say, the boss fight with The Lizard in SM2 is one of, if not the absolute best, most exciting, well designed, balanced and fun boss fights I’ve come across in almost 15 straight years of gaming and over 260 games! Just THAT good, IMHO.
I’m still working on getting 100% on all of the COD’s on my profile. I’m currently 3 trophies away from being finished with one of the absolute best zombies offerings out there which is WW II. Caught me by surprise just how solid and fun of an experience it really is!
Beyond that I’m still grinding out 50K kills in the new MW3 and trying to clear space on my HDD so I can get to Spider-Man 2, GOD OF WAR - Ragnarok: Valhalla and CYBERPUNK 2077: Phantom Liberty.
I enjoyed the base game and first DLC. It was a weird and wild take on the BioShock formula and the graphics and world were pretty phenomenal. This DLC however looks like more of a first person platformer and I’m not big on that at all. Partially because I’m not so sure that style fits this game and partially because I don’t think platformers work well in first person.
Still chopping away at getting 100% on the trophy stack for all the COD games. Just finished Advanced Warfare last week so now I’m on Infinite Warfare. Also slowly chipping away at the ridiculous trophy in Modern Warfare III for 50K kills in zombies. Heck of a grind but at least the mode is pretty fun. Also gonna start on Spider-Man 2 at some point when I get tired of all the shooting at zombies 🤣
ALSO: Just saw Godzilla Minus One and it was such a good film it really made me wish there was a good Godzilla game out there. And no, the PS4 game is NOT a good Godzilla game.
For my tastes, I'd love to see a 5 Remake. I actually liked it a LOT better than 4, as I thought it was an improvement on what 4 did and I really enjoyed the co-op. Then again, it was also my first RE game, so that probably has something to do with it......
Nothing new. COD has been doing that for a while. I’m currently playing COD:Advanced Warfare and whenever I click over to zombies I get an ad for COD: WW II. Same thing w/ Infinite Warfare. And Black Ops II for that matter. Ads for different games come up depending on which game you’re playing, but ads none the less. As a matter of fact I think COD does it on ALL of their titles…..
I have to laugh at all the people that throw hate at COD every year, yet every year they buy it and spend countless hours playing it. You won't find me doing that. I buy it pretty much every year and every year I enjoy it to some degree or another. I enjoy the franchise. Not gonna lie about it and have no shame in admitting it.
@JB_Whiting Oh I don't know. I wouldn't say I'm 'trying so hard to defend it' at all. I just think it's getting a worse rap than it deserves and ultimately people are fickle and hard to please. Read some of my responses to others - I absolutely have my issues with the game, but I also enjoy it overall. Not too thrilled with what they've done with zombies but it still has a modicum of enjoyment to it.
@Deityjester I certainly respect your opinion as, entertainment is a subjective thing. But I also respectfully disagree with you that the open combat missions are trash. I actually quite like them and think it's a good change of pace and a fresh approach. I quite like the freedom of tackling objectives however I want. Then again, I NEVER, EVER play Warzone so maybe that's why I like it? Regardless, to each their own.
@Flaming_Kaiser Believe it or not, I largely agree with your reply, actually. As I stated in my post, "while it’s not exactly the best they’ve ever done w the game, it’s definitely not the worst either". I'd call that 'mediocre'. And I don't disagree with some of the criticisms levelled against it, like it's basically a large DLC pack worth only $40-50, the graphics are a bit sub-standard in spots, it feels rushed, some of the ideas that they used to 'shake things up' (the entire zombies mode for example), as I put it, fall flat (at least IMHO), etc. But even so, it still plays solidly, and is a relatively fun game. I look at it this way - compare COD to your favorite band. Sometimes they put out phenomenal albums, sometimes they put out sub-standard efforts. But if you like that band, what they do and their style of music, you're going to find something enjoyable in every album they put out. For me, COD is like that. Is MW III a great game? No way. But is it still fun to play even if some of it falls flat? Absolutely. And that's ultimately the true measuring stick for ANY piece of entertainment - is it enjoyable? So, for me, while I wouldn't rate this as one of the best, I wouldn't say it's the absolute worst either. And again, it's FAR better than ANY Battlefield game at release than there has been in over a decade so, kudos there.
It’s honestly not as bad as everyone says. At least IMHO. I’ve been playing it all weekend and while it’s not exactly the best they’ve ever done w the game, it’s definitely not the worst either. People are just hating on it (I feel like) because we were told there wouldn’t be a major release this year and that it would just be like a big DLC package then they said there would be a full release but when it came out, aspects of it were a little ’underbaked’’ and the trophy stack (on PS5 at least) IS DLC…… for MW2. So, I get some people’s disdain for it, but by no means is it a terrible game and worthy of the low score people are giving it purely out of hate. All in all it’s still a solid shooter and certainly FARRRRRRR better than your average Battlefield game on release day. 😉🤣 Plus, there’s some solid ideas in there in terms of how they approached some of the SP missions (open combat missions) and zombies as well. Whether you like those approaches or not is a matter of taste but at least they took some chances this time around and shook things up. Everyone complains about how it’s always the same thing every year, but as soon as they shake it up a little, everyone complains it’s terrible. LOL. Whatever. People are just fickle and impossible to please…….
I grabbed HELLBOY: Web Of Wyrd on release day for $20 and so far I’m enjoying it quite a good bit. Such a great looking game if you like Mike Mignola’s artwork!
I’m also working through some of the last trophies I need in Black Ops 2 DLC for 100%. I really enjoy the early zombies maps. After Black Ops 3 zombies really started to fall off for me although it’s still decent here and there.
@Dusk_Actual I played the game for a good 3-4 hours last night with my kid and we both quite enjoyed it. I can see where combat might get a little stale as it's kind of clunky, but if you enjoy the character and the art style it's well worth the $20 IMHO. And it's not that hard either. Just keep holding the lock-on button when you hit or dodge and it's a piece of cake. Again, definitely fun and worth the $$ in my opinion, but everyone's tastes differ so......???
I'm a big fan of the comics so for $20 I couldn't resist and picked this up. From what very little I've played so far it's pretty fun and the art style is absolutely bang on to Mike Mignola's work.
There’s a lot already out and soon to be coming out that I want to play but I just can’t justify full price for games anymore when so many release in such sorry shape. That said, I’m going back and working on getting 100% on some of the older Call Of Duty games on PS3. Right now I’m on Black Ops 2 and World At War.
@DonkeyFantasy EXACTLY how I felt and still feel about this game. I have never been so ticked off about a game, as I was about the horrible, terrible, stinking, festering dumpster fire that was BF2042 at launch. And that was after they had basically pulled the same stunt with BFV. I’m not sure I will ever buy another BF game again even despite how much I like them when they’re in good running shape.
Gotham Knights is so much better than many of the games ranked higher than it. I get that it was underwhelming but it just wasn’t as bad as it gets a rep for being.
And IMHO Arkham Knight was the consummate Batman game. It did everything its predecessors did only better, with the one exception of (maybe) the story, to which I’d give that nod to Arkham City.
Playing a bunch of Call Of Duty, actually. Between the incredibly underwhelming MW3 beta, which is essentially a re-skin of MW2’s MP (terrible weapon progression system and all!), I’m also going back and playing the zombies DLC for Black Ops 2 & World At War on my PS3. Really having a good time w that but WaW is making me remember how much more difficult and stripped down the early zombie DLC’s were!
@JimRyansReplacement Thanks man! I doubt I will do Trepang2. The game is right up my alley but everything I’ve read about the difficulty on the platinum is a hard pass. It’s apparently extremely difficult and at this point in my life I game for enjoyment and a MODERATE challenge. Not for a hair-pulling, TV-cursing, rage-inducing one. 😉🤣🤣🤣
Bloody hell.............would it kill them to put the COD season passes on sale? I've had the SP for Advanced Warfare and Infinite Warfare on my wishlist for what seems ike forever and they NEVER go on sale. I really don't want to pay $50 for each of them....
Honestly, Callisto Protocol is a great selection for October. Perfect fit for the month of Halloween and an overall solid game, if not quite what I was hoping for. I already have it but for any who don’t and enjoy survival horror it’s a good game for the ‘price’.

@Northern_munkey Good stuff and thanks for the info! Sekiro is the hardest From Soft game by far, IMHO so comparing it against that gives me a good idea of how difficult it is. I’m not that great w defensive styles like parrying and prefer more aggressive styles like Bloodborne but I do enjoy this genre of game immensely so I might just give this a shot once it’s on sale. Just far too many games coming out that I want to play and on top of a sizable backlog as it is. Thanks again!

I've played every 'Soulsborne' From Software has done and quite a few others in the genre as well, but like I said, at this point, I'm just NOT up for a frustrating experience.....
I thoroughly enjoy these types of games and may give it a shot at some point, but right now what's putting me off about it is the steep difficulty curve that gets thrown at you at points and for some of the bosses. I'm not up for that level of frustration when I'm trying to relax and enjoy some recreation. Steelrising was a great example of a Soulsborne-type game that gets the difficulty aspect right but is still challenging and good fun, IMHO.
I’ve had my eye on this for sometime and, provided it reviews well by both critics and the general player base, I will be picking this up at some point. Also glad to hear it’s getting a physical release as I’m ‘old school’ with stuff like that and prefer physical copies over digital.
After the launch debacle Atomic Heart had with its’ trophies, I’m glad to see this being addressed BEFORE the game launches. I’m a hardcore trophy hunter and nothing ticks me off more than broken trophies, especially at launch!
I really like what they’re doing with the character designs. Even Kraven looks excellent. This series is for Marvel’s character designs what the Arkham series was for DC’s.
