Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 552

I have almost no time whatsoever to game this weekend due to prior commitments, but what time I do have, I’ll be playing Black Ops 6. I will also be following the scores on my Red Wings, Lions, Wolverines and Arsenal. Then come Monday, which I have off of work, I’ll be spending a decent chunk of the day playing. Happy gaming everyone!

Re: Poll: One Year Later, How Would You Rate Marvel's Spider-Man 2 on PS5?

DETfaninATL

It’s a really good game for sure. The boss fight with The Lizard is one of the best, most well designed and well balanced boss fights I can think of. It has a little bit of everything in it and is an absolute blast. And Venom……!!!! How fun was that to not only fight him and see those cinematics with him, but play him as well!!! OFF. THE. CHARTS!!!!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 551

DETfaninATL

Unfortunately I have nothing to play this weekend as I’m completely and totally burned out on the platinum grind for Red Dead Redemption 2. And with both the Alan Wake 2 DLC dropping on Tuesday and Black Ops 6 dropping on Friday, I just can’t justify spending any money on games right now to last me for a few days. That said, I hope everyone enjoys what they’re playing this weekend! Happy gaming all!!

@DTfearTheBEARD Having played both Alan Wake 2 and (I’m now playing) Still Wakes The Deep, I can confidently tell you that:
1) you made the right choice as AW2 is a meatier, lengthier and ultimately more satisfying and overall better game. It’s downright incredible how well made and good it is
AND
2) do NOT pass up Still Wakes The Deep at some point. It’s a relatively short game but it’s well done and a lot of fun. You definitely won’t be disappointed by it!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 550

I’ve had my fill of Red Dead Redemption 2 for the time being, so I decided to take a break from it for a bit and picked up something in the most recent PS Store sale. I grabbed Still Wakes The Deep for a little over $20 and I’m quite enjoying it! It’s a very well done little game with a good creepy and isolated vibe that fits quite well with the Halloween season. Definitely recommended for fans of horror games.

Re: Mini Review: Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP (PS5) - A Sweet Return with a Bittersweet Bite

DETfaninATL

Never understood the love for this game. Platinimed it on the PS3 and basically forgot about it as soon as I was done with it. Spectacularly average and nothng special at all IMHO. Maybe I was just burned out on the whole 'zombie rage' when I played it but I really didn't think this game was anything above average back in the day. A 6 was about right then and I see nothing's changed apparently.

Re: Suda 51 Says 'Everyone Cares Too Much About Metacritic Scores'

DETfaninATL

I play what I want, reviews be damned. But to my experience there’s often a good bit of truth in many aggregated review scores. For every Red Dead Redemption, God Of War or The Last of Us that get, and deserve, their high review scores, there’s also a Gollum, KONG: Skull Island or Quantum Error that get and deserve the abysmal scores they get. Unfortunately there are too many games that get 7’s or 8’s that many people dismiss that turn out to be incredible quality and wildly fun games like Stellar Blade or Vanquish. Just play what you want but don’t totally discount review scores. They’re there for a reason.

Re: Best Roguelike Games on PS5

DETfaninATL

Returnal is the best game on this list by a long shot, IMHO, but I haven’t played everything on here. One or two I see listed I’d like to give a shot at as I very much enjoy a good Roguelike!

Also, just have to say, though it’s not a PS5 game, Prey’s DLC - Mooncrash - was an awesome Roguelike and really turned me on to the genre.

Re: Feature: Everything You Can Do in PS5's New Welcome Hub

DETfaninATL

I really wish they would get this pushed out faster as I’d love to take advantage of it. There’s some good features here I’d like to have been using ages ago. I saw an update yesterday when I turned my PS5 on and thought that it might be for the Welcome hub but alas, it was not……

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 544

DETfaninATL

Maxed out my level in the Black Ops 6 beta yesterday so I'm done with that until next Friday though I may dip into it here and there.

I just popped the final 2 trophies I had been waiting on to show up in Astro Bot's Playroom, so that makes 100% on that trophy stack. Such a solid, well-made game, and I'm not into platformers at all, really.

Probably won't play much the rest of the weekend until the holiday on Monday here in The States as I'm going to a concert tonight and have church and family stuff all day tomorrow. Though when I do get back to my PS5, I'll be starting on the story for Red Dead Redemption II, which I've really been looking forward to. Red Dead Online is fun and all, but I'm ready to move on from it for a while. Plus everyone raves how good the story mode is in that game so I'm very much looking forward to it! Have a GREAT weekend all!

Re: How Much Would You Pay for Your PS5 Games? Dev Says Industry Is Waiting for GTA 6 to Hike Prices

DETfaninATL

I already only spend full price for the rare game I KNOW is going to deliver and I can’t wait to play such as a FromSoftware title, God Of War, Dead Space, etc. Otherwise I always wait for a sale, a price drop or both. Having been this way for a while now, I have a lengthy list of games a year or more old that are already on discount and getting cheaper with every sale. I almost never need to play something as soon as it comes out.

Re: PS4 Players Won't Have to Wait Long for Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP

DETfaninATL

Not sure I get the hype for this game. I played it on PS3 and was neither impressed or disappointed with it. Was a very middling game IMHO and I pretty much forgot about it as soon as I was done w it. But that’s just me. Everyone has different tastes for sure and great for those that like this game that much.

Re: Players Complain of Lengthy PS5 Matchmaking Times As Concord Numbers Dwindle

DETfaninATL

I’ve always been perplexed by developers not putting an AI element in their MP offerings so that when the player base inevitably dwindles (unless you’re COD), then the game can still sustain viable matches and accordingly additional sales. Numerous times I’ve wanted to play a MP game long after it’s hit the market, only to find out the matchmaking is basically dead and thus passed on a game I otherwise would have spent money on. With the prevalence of AI these days you’d think it would be an easy thing to do to help sustain a game. KILLZONE: Shadow Fall comes to mind as a solid example of this.

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Beta: Start Times, How to Access, and Rewards

DETfaninATL

I preordered this so I’ll dive in for a few hours and give it a whirl like I normally do. I’m not gonna lie - I enjoy COD and play it every year. Sure, some offerings are better than others and none of them are ‘perfect’, but there’s no denying it’s one of, if not The Most, solid FPS on the market. People can hate on it all they want but there’s a reason it’s one of the most successful video game franchises EVER.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 543

DETfaninATL

@GeeEssEff Thanks m8! Honestly, the two toughest plats I’ve ever tackled are Sekiro Shadows Die Twice (that whole game has some REALLY tough boss fights in it and I’m not good at parrying to begin with) and Vanquish (the ‘Tactical Challenger’ trophy is insanely hard in what’s otherwise an easy and incredibly awesome game).

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 543

DETfaninATL

My son and my brother-in-law finally wore me down and got me to play Red Dead Redemption 2. Since I platinum what I play, I’ve decided to knock out the MP portion of the trophies first. Certainly a good game and the online aspect of it is well done with lots to do but man oh man is it a LOOOOOOT of just riding around and the grind to level 50 is something else. Otherwise it’s good.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Black Myth: Wukong?

DETfaninATL

I intend to play it eventually but it’s going to need a price drop first and secondly, from everything I’m reading, it’s going to need some patching to fix some bugs and other issues I keep hearing about. But yeah, I definitely want to play it.
