Re: PSVR2 Review: Is It Worth It?

DETfaninATL

I’ve been looking forward to this and I’m certainly considering getting one but………. that price!!! Plus, there’s not too many games out for it yet that make me REALLY want one. Maybe by the end of this Summer or come the holidays I can justify it and (more importantly) have the cash for one saved up.

Re: Wanted: Dead (PS5) - A Fascinating Mess of an Action Game

DETfaninATL

You had me at ‘a captivatingly crap game’. LOLOLOLOL 😅😂🤣

With far too much that’s out or soon to come out that I’m interested in I don’t see myself ever playing this until I have NOTHING else to play, but this sounds like exactly the type of bargain bin title I’d go for on a $20 or under sale.

Re: Atomic Heart PS5, PS4 Trophy List Will Have You Drinking Vodka for the Platinum

DETfaninATL

As a dedicated trophy hunter I have to say this list looks fun w/ the one exception of a trophy for completing the game on hardcore mode. I get a bit tired of games doing this, depending on the criteria for ‘hardcore’. If it’s just a standard play through but on a harder setting that’s one thing, but if it’s a permadeath mode, very limited saves or something like Wolfenstein 2’s ‘Mein Leiben’ trophy, it’s one of the most un-fun types of trophies IMHO. Something like the aforementioned ’Mein Leiben’ will put me off a game altogether and cause me to skip it. Just too much else out there to play. Here’s to hoping it’s nothing too crazy.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 463

DETfaninATL

@playstation1995 Absolutely LOVE Vanquish and I agree with you about the gameplay! One of the most fun and underrated games of the PS3 era. Also the toughest platinum I ever got. Harder than any game on my profile by a country mile simply because of that one trophy - ‘Tactical Challenger’. BRRRRUUUUUTAL!!!!

Re: Alt-History Shooter Atomic Heart Game Length, Weapon Upgrades Detailed

DETfaninATL

Gotta say, I just love all the armchair politicians in this thread. Like ANY of us know what's REALLY going on between Russia and Ukraine. We know exactly and only what our respective governments and their propaganda arms (IE the media) feed us. Sure, war is bad and nothing I condone, but the truth of what's really going on over there isn't known by the average person. We all just 'see what we want to see'. Don't let something as crappy as politics ruin your entertainment experience. If all of us only listened to musicians we agreed with, and watched film and TV done by people we agree with, etc. etc., we'd have almost no content to enjoy. Just enjoy what you want and let the rest of it all sort itself out.

Re: Call of Duty Is the Main Reason People Buy PS5, PS4, Says New Survey

DETfaninATL

Wow, if true, that's kind of sad. I mean, I enjoy COD as much as the next person and have played the current iteration to the point of boredom with it, having maxed out my level and all guns. But considering the wealth of quality titles on Playstation (God Of War as just ONE example), you'd think their exclusives would be the primary buying driver. Oh well, no accounting for taste I guess.....

Re: Over 1,000 PS5, PS4 Games Discounted in PS Store Sale

DETfaninATL

@Grimwood Not sure you're thinking that though correctly. Game prices ALWAYS decrease over time. As just one example, TLOU pt. 2 was $59.99 MSRP when it released and now is $39.99 MSRP. Publishers don't expect games to hold their initial MSRP over time. Ever. Some may have a stronger shelf-life to their initial MSRP (COD titles are a good example), but ALL will come down in price the longer they are out. Another example? Bloodborne. Initial MSRP was $59.99, now it's $19.99. Jus' sayin'....... Besides, I was referring to a sale price so I'm not entirely sure where your comment came from?

Re: Over 1,000 PS5, PS4 Games Discounted in PS Store Sale

DETfaninATL

Nothing on my wishlist is on sale, though, admittedly, the vast majority of it is games that have yet to release. Still, I'm hoping The Last Of Us part 2 goes back on sale for $9.99. I didn't pull the trigger on it when I saw it at that price a sale or two ago and I knew I should have. :-/

Re: RoboCop, Gollum Games Publisher Announces March Livestream Event

DETfaninATL

I absolutely loved Steelrising, enjoyed their Terminator game and I'm (strangely) looking forward to Robocop, so I'm curious to see what they'll announce. I have to admit, the black and white picture of the weird skeleton with the combat hat has me hoping for a remake of RESISTANCE: Fall Of Man, though I doubt that's what that is. Anyone know what that game is in the picture above??

Re: Dead Space

DETfaninATL

Gotta say, I just did my first play through of this game entirely at night, in the basement, with all the lights off and with headphones on. What an incredible experience!! It really amped up the creep-out factor. And what an absolutely AMAZING remake of one of my all time favorite games (and game series). HIGHLY recommended!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 462

DETfaninATL

I’m thoroughly enjoying my first play through of the Dead Space remake. I’m only playing it at night, in the basement with all the lights off and on headphones. Absolutely phenomenal remake of one of my favorite games and game series of all time. Couldn’t be happier with what Motive has done with it!

Re: The Last of Us HBO Gets More Viewers Than Ever for Second Week in a Row

DETfaninATL

@Ravix Well, I, like you, am glad (likely for the first time in, ........well......, EVER!) that a video game adaptation is not only being handled well, but being given the incredible quality of treatment like this show is. Especially since the core material is beloved by the fan base. So true enough, whether you like what they did with ep. 3 (like many aparently do) or whether you found it cumbersome, boring and unnecessary (like I did), there's NO DENYING this show is of very high quality and I'm certinly glad to see it!

Re: The Last of Us HBO Gets More Viewers Than Ever for Second Week in a Row

DETfaninATL

@Ravix I certainlly respect your opinion, but plot is the central device to which a story is told. Without it you have nothing but an incoherent mess of ideas struggling for some sort of cohesion. Even Bill & Frank's mini-story had it's own 'plot' or 'narrative'. To deny that is just plain foolishness. So, again, I felt their story added little to nothing to the overall narrative of Joel and Ellie's story, which is, after all, what the entire show is about.

Re: The Last of Us HBO Gets More Viewers Than Ever for Second Week in a Row

DETfaninATL

I’m honestly not getting the crazy amount of gushing over this most recent episode. It was well produced and certainly well acted, but the massive focus on Bill and Frank did nothing to move the plot forward or even add to it. In fact, if you removed their ‘love story’ from the show entirely it wouldn’t have made a single bit of difference to the over-arching narrative of the show itself and thus came off as a massive waste of time, money and resources. And I’ll also say that at no point was I ever on the verge of tears and I DO get emotional at well done tragedy in film. I just couldn’t get past the feeling that the vast majority of what I was watching was totally unnecessary and kept waiting for the story to get back on track.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 461

DETfaninATL

Sadly, I’m not playing Dead Space because I’m waiting for it to show up in the mail (Amazon is showing a Tuesday delivery) so I’m going to keep wasting time with Modern Warfare 2’s MP even though I’ve maxed out my level, maxed out all the AR’s, LMG’s and most of the SMG’s and unlocked every camo I have any interest in. Tuesday can’t come quick enough…….

Re: Poll: Did You Buy the Dead Space PS5 Remake?

DETfaninATL

I actually pre-ordered this back in October from Amazon, but strangely, they didn't give me an option for standard delivery so it won't be here until Tuesday next week. Normally they deliver the day a game is released, but not this time...... Oh well - it's more than worth the wait!

Re: Dead Space (PS5) - Faithful Remake Brings Back a Classic

DETfaninATL

@Toypop Just sayin' , but you're missing out by skipping this one. GREAT game, especially if you've never played the OG!! Possibly the best in it's genre ever. And Gotham Knights was quite fun too. I played through that on PS5 to 100% completion on the trophy stack and never got bored of it. Callisto Protocol is a particular taste though for sure.

Also, and I'm asking in genuine curiosity, what is it with frame rates that puts people off SOOOO much that they'll skip a game outright and miss out on a possibly very enjoyable experience? And I'm saying this as someone who, again, played Gotham Knights a LOT and only ever noticed very, very few and only slight frame rate dips, which was, IMHO, nothing that detracted from the gameplay or overall enjoyment of the game in any significant or meaningful way. Again, curious to hear your perspective.

Re: Dead Space Remake Trophies Demand at Least Two Playthroughs for the Platinum

DETfaninATL

Awesome! Looks very close to the original PS3 list and even includes the Peng trophy while omitting the x2 trophies of 'Don't Get Cocky Kid' & 'Slugger', both of which required 50% shield strength remaining when completing a task. Just hope the one for completeing the game on Impossible mode isn't akin to DS2's hardcore mode or worse, Wolfenstein 2's Mein Leiben trophy. THAT WOULD SUUUUUCK!!!
