Re: Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered Update Quietly Removes Sexy Lara Croft Pinups

While the minor additional or removal of something will not affect me, the principal that someone believes someone else should not see something that was originally there (Because it makes them uncomfortable/perception it might make other uncomfortable) sets a dangerous wider term precedent for more significant things to be censored in the future (In and out of gaming).

My question to the publisher is why try to profit off an IP you are no longer comfortable on the contents within? Just make a new game and set your own path.

Re: Dragon's Dogma 2 Expansion? Some Players Are Convinced It's Coming

I just finished the game after 70 hours and I have thoughts.

The pros are:

The raytracing and graphical fidelity is great

the pawn system is unique.

The world feels reasonably dynamic with emergent gameplay

Some interesting characters and historical themes

If you did buy any dlc it can be re-used in a new game save

The downsides:

FPS can be poor in high npc dense areas

Pawns are often repetitive, especially if you choose to pad the game exploration out.

The story missions are pretty short and the story is pretty basic - you need to grind to get to a comfortable level (40+)

The game feels padded out - in some ways it very much is a jogging simulator and collection which some with love and some will hate

There is an ending that locks you out of NG+ until you meet all the requirements. You can also be locked out of certain missions at certain parts of the main story. This is never made clear in the game.

It's very much a "I need to check this guide online because I don't know what to do/what this means" kind of game even for those who are competent. Having one save file means checking information is vital not to miss a significant amount. This is very much a symptom of most modern gamers used to more linear AAA experiences.

Some quests can be bugged and require workarounds.

Overall 8.5/10 for me.

Re: Star Wars Outlaws Rated in Australia

@PegasusActual93 it's pretty normal practice for ratings to come through 6+ months prior to launch. The release date and marketing cycle has not even started yet so I'd expect updates in may or June for a late 2024 launch.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Rise of the Ronin?

I'm playing it and it's not bad! I'm enjoying DD2 more and I honestly presumed it would the the other way around. The performance FPS wise isn't great considering it genuinely looks like it came out in 2014. It's not the mass market game I think a lot of players presumed it would be hence the lack of marketing. Even on the easiest dawn difficulty it's more akin to a challenging normal mode combat wise for those who don't enjoy souls like games. I'd rate it a 7.5 so far and may an 8 if the story has a good ending.

@CutchuSlow
@Northern_munkey @amatmulisha

This is an optional DLC as the wake-stones can be easily found in world during gameplay and can be used to revive NPC's and the Arisen. There are around 1000 unique NPC's in the world and if they die it's a permadeath unless you revive them at a morgue or in the world where they were felled.

A lot of misinformation about the MTX has been going around by people who have not played the game so watch out for that.

Re: Capcom Simply Must Improve Dragon's Dogma 2 PS5 Performance, Concludes Digital Foundry

Darylb88

It's weird because I was certain I would have a big issue with the uncapped frame rate as I'm usually sensitive to it. What I came to realise is that it's the frame pacing being off that bothers my eyes. From what I can see the frame pacing is generally not too bad. The graphical fidelity on PS5 meant the FPS drops aren't as huge as PC. Overall I have barely noticed the FPS in game because I've been so engrossed with the game. I have noticed the unstable rise of the ronin FPS a lot more.

Re: Rise of the Ronin (PS5) - A Safe, Outdated Open World Game

Darylb88

It does have some performance issues (RT unlocked framerate mode on my 120hz screen seems to work well.). Overall I am enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would!

That's why you should take reviews which a pinch of salt, as they are subjective. What someone hates about a game you may love (Like fetch quests). I shall be enjoying this and DD2 until Stellar Blade and Eiyuden Chronicles Hundred Heroes is out in about a month.

I brought this and DD2 and will be playing both. As someone who quite enjoys a Ubisoft style collection and bonding systems this might actually be an enjoyable game for me. I'm also looking forward to the planning/micromanagement type of gameplay that DD2 offers and no doubt I will juggle both over the coming weeks. These games are almost like a break when the other one gets too much.
