2024 is the year of JRPG's.

I had to contact customer support as I had 1050 missing points but they were added on the 9th.

There is nothing gamers hate more than a live service game trying to also be a single player game. Just go all in on offline single player or online multiplayer.

Or if you are smart like R* have 2 clearly defined modes so you get 100% of something rather than 50% of nothing.

I really hope WB take that approach for the next Hogwarts Legacy game. They have R* kind of money and budget to do that now.

Currently an 87 on MC with 37 reviews (PS5) and 90 on Nintendo with 9 reviews.

Day one purchase for me - Simteract's last game was fun and well optimised on current gen.

Looks like another AA game I'll wait to buy on a 70% off deal.

I was waiting for 3pm to come around but I guess It will be tomorrow now. I will try out the Prince of Persia demo out at 5pm instead.

@Thrussted Nacon do has also released some pretty solid games too like Robocop: Rouge City, Transport Fever, Train Life, Steelrising, WRC Generations, Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong, The Sinking City, Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter in more recent times. They also have TDU solar crown and Taxi Life coming up and generally do well in the AA space.

Typical V2 controller you get around a slim/pro release. I wouldn't be surprised if this V2 controller is already getting bundled in with their slim model.

This will be my first time trying a 120fps game on my PS5. Looking forward to trying out this demo.

Even with all the words in the world to try and describe how it is, my early judgment is that is simply does not look fun to play.

I'm pretty confident it will be either all or mostly Rise of The Ronin as a SIE published game that they really need to spotlight. Little of it is known. The GOT one back in the earlier part of 2020 did wonders for sales.

Up until this time last year you could get all your Sony AAA games on PS4. It was only since 2023 that really changed. Even this year you can still get 90% of games on PS4 including most of the major JRPG's, AAA's and sports titles.

Takes a lot to beat out TOTK as the best selling game of 2023 - very impressed.

@Stocksy it was meant to be a joke! I do wonder they didn't choose something like American rugby or even soccer though considering it is a dual limb sport unlike actual football.

It shouldn't be called football - there I said what most people in Europe are thinking.

Persona 4 Golden is my favourite and seems to be a lot of people's favourite too. I prefer P5R game wise though despite the fact of P4G being an amazing game.

I think this is going to score higher with critics and players than expected.

Are there difficulty options?

Might be a hot take but I didn't think 2023 was actually that great for games compared to some other years. My personal reviews:

I think 2024 could pull up some cross-gen 10's for me as JRPG fan. P3R and Like a Dragon IW could already beat the whole of 2022 and 2023 in like 6 weeks.

I'm thinking FF7 Rebirth or Rise of the Ronin could be my first ever PS5 10/10.

This a game I will pre order and buy the most expensive edition of because it is guaranteed that it will be good quality. RGG has exceptional quality in their games. Sega are very lucky to have them and Altus as studios.

The demo at the end of Gaiden shows their confidence in the product.

The original release would have been better than this new one, but I'm guessing they want this out before the financial year ends for shareholding purposes. It always boils down to the investors.

It looks interesting but there are a lot of games out in late January and into February and I don't want to bankrupt myself haha.

I can honestly say a enjoyed Spider-man 2 and Starfield significantly more than BG3. The readers have good taste! Glad to see 2023's best selling game Hogwarts Legacy in the top 10 also.

I brought it at launch and haven't gotten around to playing it yet, but this will make a nice game to play during those quite summer months!

I spent £115 and got nothing even with my live PS+ sub. I contacted support and was given a number I need to call. I didn't realise this was such a widespread issue. Hopefully they offer a fix and something as a goodwill gesture too as this seems like a big problem.

Allow 2-3 days for a response but they are good with things like pre order refunds as an example.

I found Spider-Man 2, BG3 and FF16 all disappointing this year.

I actually hope insomniac give Spider-Man a rest for a number of years.

I enjoyed Hogwarts Legacy, Dead Island 2 and Starfield a lot more than I was expecting. I presumed it would be the other way around!

The game that really caught me by suprise was AC Mirage. If felt like the best bits of an AC Valhalla game without the extra padding.

I buy a lot of games (around 25 per year) plus I play a lot of PS+ and Gamepass so I'm curious if my 2024 best games will be different to what I expected like 2023.

I didn't enjoy BG3 much as a non D&D fan. I got swept up in the hype and regretted the purchase. I don't think it is sincere to call people who enjoyed other games more than BG3 simpletons or another derogatory term. I played Spider-man 2 and that was also very much an evolution rather than a revolution kind of game also. Weird how some people get defensive a subjective games list.

Unless Sony can drop that Venom game or another summer surprise, 2P games like and Rise of the Ronin will be vital to keep things ticking over into a more exciting 2025.

Also for anyone who has dubbing concerns I am pretty sure Sony will ensure this has an EN and JP dub to meet the standards of a SIE published game.

Based on the information of his violent and obsessive behaviour it is clear as day why he got a hospital order to be treated.

Those who say this isn't deserved are missing the facts - forget about just the crimes (which did include harming people with personal data leaks and blackmail) this person is deemed a danger to others.

Those trying to defend the actions of this person or celebrate the crimes need to seek professional help.

@Deadlyblack The Gaiden story is important for context for the next game, but to be honest it's quite a short game and you could watch a recap video if you want to avoid burnout but take the essential info.

Not sure if this is really news worthy for a PS gaming site.

This 100% won't be a souls like game - SIE describe the combat as "deep and accessible". This will have multiple difficulty levels so those who dislike souls games like myself need not worry.

Anyone would think (based on some of the comments)the English dub is compulsory if you want to play the game 😂 I for one will be playing in the English dub but I'm glad players have the option of both.

I would understand the backlash better if the English dub was the only option. The people hating on the English dub won't even play that version anyways.

The Xbox and PC user base far out matches the PS5 user base (less if you count active user base) so no issues. It's the same as having no issues putting Spider-Man on PS4 and PS5.

The PC market has the most active user base and I'm thinking that's where they will make money day 1.

I played it and probably won't go back now with a stacked early 2024.

When I can get games like Persona 5 Tactica, Like A Dragon Gaiden, Persona 3 Reload and Eiyuden Chronicles 100 Heroes on Gamepass day 1 the stuff that PS plus offer just does not stack up. And I don't have to pay for cloud saves. I have never liked that element of owning a playstation.

I look at some of the insane figures on here and my 589 hours seems a lot more reasonable. I guess most who frequent this site are on the more extreme spectrum of hardcore gamers. Hogwarts Legacy held the most hours at 14% of overall playtime. I collected 416 trophies. Dead Island 2 and FF16 had quite a lot of hours invested. Loop8 Summer of Gods was a surprising time sink!

My most played game of this month is Cyberpunk 2077 - mainly because there isn't much else out this month (waiting for some sales on newer Ubisoft games and JRPGs) and the new 2.1 update.

Most people will have to wait a year after launch date to get one unless they want to pay the scalper price.

Seems like RGG and Altus work on a lot of share ideas - LAD Infinite Wealth will also have dual real-time and turn based action too.

Based on the state I'm hopeful for a September launch but may get it in November depending on how SEGA want to pace out games commercially.

P6 looking like 2025 alongside GTA 6 - now that would be an epic year for gaming.

If you like Japanese centric games 2024 is going to be a very good year. For me It will be a great year will many games I am looking forward to.

There are also some great games coming for sim game fans too.

If you are however a more casual AAA fan it's looking a bit light. Can't really see anything beyond Star Wars Outlaws right now.

Not the best month to be launching in. This one will probably have to wait until spring/summer despite my interest.

I'd by this game because it was made by Ubisoft. I love many of their straight forward game systems. I'd also buy this game as it will be on sale in 2 months.

I think 2024 will be one of those break years for AAA esp on the PlayStation side. Looks like Wolverine and Persona 6 could go into 2025 with some other huge games.

It will be a good year for JRPG fans though. Some interesting Simulation games coming out too.

It could be a very interesting year for hardware with the potential console refreshes and next Nintendo console.

Hopefully 2024 is a bigger year for PlayStation on the gaming side. Rise of the Ronin shaping up to be a good start to the year.

I'll be playing this on Gamepass and i'll probably buy a PS5 copy too. I love Altus games and I am excited to try this as I didn't get to try it the first time around. I'd like to see 1 & 2 get the remake treatment too.

I think they just want to meet their legal and shareholder obligation to get this out the door to die in peace.
