Re: September 2023 Circana: PS5 Still on Top Despite Chart-Topping Starfield

Darylb88

I have really enjoyed Starfield so far, good to see it doing so well in physical sales. Very suprised to see it at no1 to be honest as September was a strong month for gaming. So many armchair and bed experts saying that nobody would buy the game because of gamepass..

I'm looking forward to Spider-man 2 and that will certainly be no1 next month. Pretty much the reason most people would own a PS5 is for Spider-man.

Re: Like a Dragon: Gaiden Won't Have an English Dub on PS5, PS4 At Launch

Darylb88

I would have brought this but it seems like a budget release so I will play on game pass when the dub is out. Luckilly there is Spiderman 2 and the rather large Tales of Arise DLC to get into and I also plan on getting Robocop to keep me busy for the rest of 2023.

For me English dub is just a personally preference as I would rather focus and the characters than reading story plots. English dub is also important for those with visual impairments that can't read the subs but want to enjoy the game.

Re: Sony's Allegedly Testing a Super-Secret Soulsborne for PS5

I have been lucky enough to see a decent amount of Rise of Ronin through work and I can say there is nothing souls like about it at all. It's an action RPG that has romance and more of a ubisoft style formula. GOT would be the closest style with a wide range of difficulty modes. It's the PS5 exculsive I am most looking forward to in 2024. It's looking like mid 2024 though rather than early 2024 due to Sony's schedule.

Re: PS5 Slim's Digital Edition Gets a Stealth Price Increase in USA

Playstation, for the payers.

I can see this as a way to slowly phase out disc as they can decide:

A) how many cheaper to make digital units get sold

B) How many digital versions with the disc drive attached get sold (Could intentionally restrict supply over time)

C) How many Disc drive add ons get sold (Could intentionally restrict supply over time)

Re: Poll: How's Your Hype for Marvel's Spider-Man 2?

Darylb88

I have just Started Spiderman Remastered and will also whiz through Spiderman MM over the next 2 weeks. So far it seems good. I am not a Marvel fan and I have never seen a Spiderman movie, but the game is pretty fun. I have Spiderman 2 pre ordered but I can't say I am hyped because I expect it to be like the game I am playing now but with dual protags. I could be wrong and I hope I am pleasantly suprised!

Re: Watch This RoboCop: Rogue City Gameplay, You Have 20 Seconds to Comply

I have tried the demo and here are my impressions.

This game is very very well optimised. This may in part be due to the UE5's great otimisation toolset but you also need talented developers to extract the best out of UE5.

As an example, I was able to get a locked 30fps 1080p, medium and high settings (Which looks close to what the PS5/Xbox Series X will get) on a GTX1650 4GB with 8GB of RM and an intel i5 processor. The game also offers V-sync on PC and options to turn off and on motion blur.

I was even able to run the game on ultra settings in the high 20's fps wise on my potato gaming laptop! I can see this comfortably hitting 4K 30fps or 1440p 60fps on PS5.

Upsampling options on PC included several options such as TAA and DLSS 2.2. It will be be interesting to see what they implement on PS5. The gameplay was fun.

Overall I can say the delay has worked in thier favour. If they can do a good console port of the game they will have launched one of the best optimised games of the year (and a great looking one at that).

Re: Reaction: PlayStation Boss Jim Ryan May Have Been Disliked, But Leaves Big Boots to Fill

Hardcore fans on here may be unhappy but Playstation is in an exceptional place right now. It is one of the worlds most resonanant and know brands in the world. If you think of gaming you think of Playstation first. The PS5 and the culture around it has gone to the next level. I think Eric Lempel has done just fine in his tenture in the Marketing top job. JR also did his bit for sales and performance.

Re: Who Is PlayStation's New CEO, Hiroki Totoki?

Darylb88

Anyone would think JR is leaving this week and not in over half a year! I know the 5% of hardcore fans that frequent sites like this will care about who the next CEO is, but Sony will care about apointing a CEO that can hit financial targets. Sony is a business in an ever competitve world so growth isn't a luxury, its essential to their exsistence long term. Most Playstation players won't know who care who the next CEO is. You could put Kevin Butler on the screen and most players would just enjoy that.

Re: If It Wasn't Obvious, The Elder Scrolls 6 Will Skip PlayStation

Darylb88

At the end of the day Sony lock exculsives so they can sell consoles.. they make you wait for PC ports even, so I don't think any PS "fan" could honestly not be okay with this. It is like me demanding Spiderman 2 (Which would sell double or more if it was on Xbox and PC) to come to Xbox.

I honestly don't see how any PS4/5 owner (who could afford it) wouldn't get a Series S a good PC.

I brought a PS5 for the exculsives like Spiderman 2, otherwise what is the point of owning it as I could get a high end PC that far exceeds the capabilties.

Overall Microsoft are just playing the game Sony have been doing for years.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Baldur's Gate 3?

Darylb88

8/10. Was not as innovative as I was expecting based on the reviews. The story can push you in an unchangable direction you may not want to go which takes away some roleplaying choice. The overall peformance on PS5 isn't amazing and gets very poor in act 3 even on 30fps. I would advise those who want that locked 60fps to wait a couple of months for the devs to optimise the PS5 stability.

The turn based style gameplay and dialogue options were the real strong points of this game. The characters you meet are also interesting and I like the you can play a close up 3rd person style or change to a higher up/topdown style on the fly.

Your choices really do matter (Mostly) with some game changing outcomes.

You may feel under-levelled for the first main big mission so farming xp is a must at all difficulty levels. This is where 70% of your playtime will be - grinding and exploring.

The controller wheels can be a little clunky and tutorials could be improved for new players to D&D (which i can imagine is about 60-80% of the BG3 player base.

I played about 130 hours and completed the story since early access on the 2nd.

I am of course benchmarking against a much bigger developer like R* who provide truly industry defining game engine optimsations, stories, new game mechanics and design language. Lairian have done exceptionally well given thier resources and I am sure thier next game will be even better.

A very good game but not quite an exceptional one. I very much had an enjoyable time with it.

Ps. 100% recommed only doing a full review once you have seen the credits roll because my views went up and down as the game unfolded.
