Hardcore fans on here may be unhappy but Playstation is in an exceptional place right now. It is one of the worlds most resonanant and know brands in the world. If you think of gaming you think of Playstation first. The PS5 and the culture around it has gone to the next level. I think Eric Lempel has done just fine in his tenture in the Marketing top job. JR also did his bit for sales and performance.

Anyone would think JR is leaving this week and not in over half a year! I know the 5% of hardcore fans that frequent sites like this will care about who the next CEO is, but Sony will care about apointing a CEO that can hit financial targets. Sony is a business in an ever competitve world so growth isn't a luxury, its essential to their exsistence long term. Most Playstation players won't know who care who the next CEO is. You could put Kevin Butler on the screen and most players would just enjoy that.

Makes me 100% want to just start the game from scratch.

Hopefully we will get a clearer picture on the elusive refreshed version of the base model, maybe somethibng on the pro and an actual future roadmap of single player games for Sony in 2024 beyond Wolverine and the 2nd party stuff.

Nice layout as I prefer the Xbox style layout but that price.. Are Sony ever going to allow cheaper wired controllers to be licenced this gen? it's been nearly 3 years! Xbox did it after a few months. The Nacon wired PS4 controllers were great along with being cheaper than a DS4.

I switch off when I see the word Gacha.

Looks like FF16 mixed in with BG3.

I brought 1 and 2 and was waiting for a sales on 3 & 4, this could be just what I need! Probably won't even get stuck into 1 until later this year though but I am looking forward to it!

I'm excited to play Like a Dragon Gaiden on Gamepass and will grab Infinite Wealth too (Hopefully on Gamepass). Sega delivering the goods!

Only so many years they can get away without Steve Jobs innovation before they get found out. Suprised it hasn't happened already.

Another reason gave the game 8/10 after 130 hours.. the technical issues. This could have done with 2-3 more months for dev time for the PS5 version.

Sony too poor to spend MS kind of money! I really hope Sony does continue devloping single player games though rather than the worrying trend of live service games they are lining up.

At the end of the day Sony lock exculsives so they can sell consoles.. they make you wait for PC ports even, so I don't think any PS "fan" could honestly not be okay with this. It is like me demanding Spiderman 2 (Which would sell double or more if it was on Xbox and PC) to come to Xbox.

I honestly don't see how any PS4/5 owner (who could afford it) wouldn't get a Series S a good PC.

I brought a PS5 for the exculsives like Spiderman 2, otherwise what is the point of owning it as I could get a high end PC that far exceeds the capabilties.

Overall Microsoft are just playing the game Sony have been doing for years.

Lots of people will enjoy this to exp how rubbish it is then tell everyone about it! It is in our nature. It will become some cult meme like the room movie.

Sorry but BG3 and Cyberpunk 2077 updates can step aside..

The real battle here is Early Acces for Train Sim World 4 vs Bus Sim 21 School Bus Pack.

This should be a very appealing launch, in 2024.

I played a bit of the demo them tapped out. I wasn't bothered with Forza 5 and that is just a better version of this game.

8/10. Was not as innovative as I was expecting based on the reviews. The story can push you in an unchangable direction you may not want to go which takes away some roleplaying choice. The overall peformance on PS5 isn't amazing and gets very poor in act 3 even on 30fps. I would advise those who want that locked 60fps to wait a couple of months for the devs to optimise the PS5 stability.

The turn based style gameplay and dialogue options were the real strong points of this game. The characters you meet are also interesting and I like the you can play a close up 3rd person style or change to a higher up/topdown style on the fly.

Your choices really do matter (Mostly) with some game changing outcomes.

You may feel under-levelled for the first main big mission so farming xp is a must at all difficulty levels. This is where 70% of your playtime will be - grinding and exploring.

The controller wheels can be a little clunky and tutorials could be improved for new players to D&D (which i can imagine is about 60-80% of the BG3 player base.

I played about 130 hours and completed the story since early access on the 2nd.

I am of course benchmarking against a much bigger developer like R* who provide truly industry defining game engine optimsations, stories, new game mechanics and design language. Lairian have done exceptionally well given thier resources and I am sure thier next game will be even better.

A very good game but not quite an exceptional one. I very much had an enjoyable time with it.

Ps. 100% recommed only doing a full review once you have seen the credits roll because my views went up and down as the game unfolded.

The first 2 were very sold 8/10 games and I am sure i will be enjoying this one too.

That is a very strong JRPG month - some games I don't own but am interested in. Prob not going to do much for those that don't have the lucky gaming taste of liking JRPGS or already own most of those games.

Really please they decided to make a DLC, I am sure it will do well as it has been highly requested.

Xbox double pack incoming by TGS 2024.

No Rise of Ronin was a disapointment. Looking like it will be internally delayed into mid/late 2024 to balance out the lack of 1st/2nd party games for Sony in 2024.

@REALAIS You just need to get to the Pacifica part which is a few hours in.

@ShogunRok I was aware of that (although good to clear up for anyone who isn't). It's more just the ideal way would be to be able to play the full main story (with more time clearance) rather than just get to pacifica then jump out to play the dlc. Sept was the wrong month for 2.0. August would have been much better.

Not a great amount of time for new players to clear the main game before playing the dlc (Esp in a month of Starfield, BG3 and so many other big games). I'm lucky I have already cleared the main story so I will just jump straight into the dlc on the 26th.

The Nintendo Direct was decent but not mind blowing for myself as a switch owner. It does either take a bit of pressure of Sony or actually set them up for a really strong showing.

I hope the cover stellar blade and Rise of Ronin as 3rd party devloped games which will be published as exclusives. Little Dragon inside is also a showing for 2024. The Wolverine game will be the big one for Fall 2024.

2024 could be more of a PS5 pro and upscale exsisting PS5 games kind of year.

I'd love to see Rise of Ronin as it is from a 3rd party developer but published by Sony.

What would really blow everything out the water is Persona 6 or GTA 6. Maybe the revised console announcement too.

Just imagine a world where all gamers were platform agnostic. I love My XSS and my PS5, I love Starfield and I'm sure I'll love Spdierman 2. I feel sorry for console/PC zealots.

Got this on pre order and pre loaded ready to play tonight! I was lucky enough to play the demo and really enjoyed it. If you like the social stuff in Persona you'll like this game.

Might be a hot take but the effort of special editons has really gone down hill since the PS4 days. Now you get black cover plates with a print and black controllers with the white dualsense buttons and some print on it. No unique components or textures. The GOW controller the only one that actually doesn't use the default black controller in some way. The old PS4 Spiderman set was much better. I got the Hogwarts Legacy controller and it has a bit of gold print on it.

I brought it on steam and regretted it. It's and 8 or 9 out of 10 game because it actually has some improved mechanics over the majority of games that don't try. GTA 6 will take care of that 97 score from 9 reviewers.

@Suur Totally agree this is an above average game in a sea of games that does nothing new. I got it on steam thankfully so I was able to get a refund. It is a shame as I can imagine there are others who will get swept up by the 10/10. It's like Persona 5 Royal, one of the best rated game of all time but it's never going to be suitable for a mass audience.

FF16 was okay but well below what is was expecting. It was very much a 7/10 one and done kind of exp. I may look at getting the dlc on discount in the future during a quiet gaming month.

Just tell me when we get a release date haha

Some of my observations based on my gaming retail background:

HL will be the best selling game of the year. Where I work we have sold huge numbers this year to date and expect even more when the switch version drops.

Fifa 23 still holding on despite 24 being out at the end of the month is impressive.

Zelda will stay in the top 10 the rest of this year.

We have sold a lot of Xbox Starfield Standard copies despite it being on gamepass and Steam. The preimum upgrade pys ed getting into the top 10 also really suprised me considering there is a digital disount for gamepass subscribers.

@MrMagic The game gets really good after about 10 hours, but it is a bit slow until then to be fair. I expected a Space RPG not a space sim so I wasn't disapointed.

@Powerplay94 Thats the £99.99/$99.99 version of Starfield most people will buy the regular version this week. Where are work the standard version has high pre order levels. Only Hogwarts Legacy and TOTK have been pre ordered more to date.

Hopefully we get at least a week with 2.0 before the DLC drops.

It's Starfield and BG3 this month. Sony knows not to waste money on games for the service this month.
