Re: Sony Has Approximately $5 Billion Left for Acquisitions and Investments

@themightyant

Thanks for providing those details. Mine is just a wishlist, I understand it can be difficult for it to occur.

Like many, and as in a second comment I made in this article, I am against industry consolidation. But when another is buying publishers, fair game is no longer in question and thus, anything is now possible and allowed. Hence my wishlist.

Re: Aragami Developer Lince Works Sadly Shuts Down in April

Eadgar

Aragami II was also released day one on gamepass, even the M$ money could not prevent this. Maybe a discussion for another time whether this was detrimental to the studio in the long run.

Hurts as well since it was a Spanish based studio and my Spanish heritage will be rooting for them to find their feet and keep moving forward.

Best of luck to them!

Re: Sony Has Approximately $5 Billion Left for Acquisitions and Investments

@Korgon

I definitely agree, and I am one that provided a list of IV developers Sony should acquire above in a separate comment, so I definitely take account and responsibility for that.

However, this is the way things are now. Everyone was definitely okay with developer acquisitions, but once you buy a publisher, it changes things. Thus, the time we are at the present.

Re: Sony Has Approximately $5 Billion Left for Acquisitions and Investments

Eadgar

I wonder what they will do with it. I am not one to shower praise on massive corporations, but this one here, Sony, has taken good care of its fanbase for so long by giving them the games they want. Thus, it is no surprise why it has a strong and dedicated following.

My wish list is about the same as the vast majority of the Playstation fanbase

I) Square-Enix
II) Capcom
III) Koei-Tecmo
IV) From Software

I have more, but I will leave it at that.

Re: European Union Likely to Pass Xbox's $69 Billion Buyout of Activision

Eadgar

Glad to see this finally come to an end. As one who absolutely could care less about this transaction, I always refrained myself from commenting on the vast majority of articles related to this topic. My opinion did not have value, so I just watched and waited for its inevitable outcome.

Only thing I ever said was this transaction was going to have major ramifications on the industry going forward, this is only the beginning so brace yourself.

I honestly cannot wait to see how Sony is going to react to combat this because they have to. It is one of your most profitable businesses and as a company, and anyone who understands business, you just not let competitors gain a vast foothold or it will be curtains for you. I expect acquisitions to take place and the same culprits (Square-Enix, Capcom, Tecmo-Koei, From Software, Vanillaware, Atlus, Konami) mentioned above will be a great counterattack to Microsoft. Just as the Bethesda acquisition made sense for Microsoft (just think about it), the above companies are synonymous with the Playstation brand, so they make sense.

Huge congratulations to Microsoft. They have a path they have decided to traverse, and are doing their part to achieve that vision. I do not agree with the vision, thus I will not be a part of it.

One thing I definitely look forward to is the relationship of these two companies going forward. They have definitely been strained, and possibly beyond repair. I honestly like that, you are competitors, not friends, so I am definitely looking forward to how this side of the battle unfolds.

One thing definitely to add is that Microsoft is buying studios with name and pedigree, same with the franchises associated with those studios. They are not buying talent!

The people who made Blizzard, the Blizzard many still associate with the products of the late 90's early to mid 2000's, and remember and hold in high regard, these people are no longer there. They are long gone. Same with Overwatch, the last title I played from Activision/Blizzard (and maybe the final). The people who made Overwatch, who had that vision and created that world, are long gone as well, which is why you see the problems that game has today. Talent is hard to come by, I think this will become apparent going forward.

Re: Granblue Fantasy Versus Sequel Adds New Story, Characters, Moves, Rollback Netcode, Crossplay in 2023

@nomither6

Valid argument no doubt, and if compared to some other fighters, particularly the ones you mentioned in your previous comments, it definitely is. However, I do not think that is necessarily a bad thing.

Sometimes, certain fighters can be too fast. If I would suggest a great paced fighter I would like this sequel to emulate, it would be DNF Duel. They should try and match the pace of that game, great game also by the way.

Re: Granblue Fantasy Versus Sequel Adds New Story, Characters, Moves, Rollback Netcode, Crossplay in 2023

Eadgar

Great news. As the article stated, the original Grandblue versus is a great fighter, and I recommend it to people.

Besides the net code, the fact that it was released just before the pandemic, really destroyed unfortunately any momentum this game was going to have in the competitive scene.

The developers have a solid base to build upon, however, and I expect this to be an even better game than its predecessor.

Re: Poll: Did You Buy One Piece Odyssey?

Eadgar

I will not be buying it, but I hope it does well because it seems to be a good, well made game from Bamco.

I am familiar with the property and its immense popularity world wide, at least everywhere bar the States, thus, I think it will be a massive hit for Bamco.

Re: 15 PS5, PS4 Predictions for 2023

Eadgar

I will be boring and contribute to the industry trend, by predicting an acquisition from Sony. One of either Square Enix, Koei Tecmo, Capcom, or FromSoftware will join the PlayStation Studios family this year.

Bold prediction, PlayStation 5 will surpass the 50 million mark this year.

Re: Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Looks Like a PS5, PS4 Dark Horse This Packed 2023

Eadgar

Love the Nioh franchise, however, one of the reasons I fell so enamored by that franchise is it's setting, Japan and the Sengoku Jidai period, but also because I am a huge fan of souls-like games.

This game, on the contrary, I have little to no interest in the setting. Might just buy the game however to demonstrate to Koei Tecmo where it's core, and most important audience is located 😄

Re: Star Ocean: The Divine Force (PS5) - Space Age JRPG Barely Takes Flight

Eadgar

Read an article about the state of Tri-Ace. Sadden me to read about the situation, and how the state of gaming currently is, with the rise of development cost and live service games ecc.

Bought it just now from the PS store. I grew up loving these games and would be sad to see a developer that contributed to them cease to exist. I wish the developers well and I hope the game does good for them to keep going forward.

Re: Nioh Franchise Ships More Than 7 Million Units Worldwide

Eadgar

My absolute favorite new franchise from the amazing PS4 generation. I am so ecstatic to hear this great news, truly well deserved for the developer and publisher.

This was actually the series that finally had be understand how "souls-type" games work and why they are intricate, demanding, and so much fun at the same time. It made me a fan of the genre and I have been playing as many "souls-type" games as I can since.

Prior to Nioh the only game in this genre I played was Demon's Souls on PS3 and I could not get into it or understand it at the time. Since Nioh, I went back to it and beat it, one of my great recent memories.

But Nioh is great, yes, oh and Sony and Koei Tecmo, if you are reading this, make Nioh 3. Please and thank you.

Re: Sony Won't Let Microsoft's $69 Billion Activision Acquisition Go, Stresses It's Bad for Gaming

Eadgar

@Snake_V5 Your comment gave me a great laugh and put a smile on my face. Thank you for that.

To contribute to the topic at hand, I think the reason this is such a big deal is because if the deal goes through (I think it will and I could care less honestly, I only play Overwatch from Activision-Blizzard) it is going to have major repercussions for the industry going forward that we are not yet aware of, or oblivious to at the moment. Think about it for a second here, when in the history of gaming has a third-party publisher ever been bought outright before?

I can think of no event of that magnitude ever happening before thus, this is going to have major implications for everyone in the industry involved, both consumers and developers. Anything will be possible now, and it will be interesting how the industry develops going forward.

I do not like where it is going personally, but I have developed a great amount of games in my backlog from the PS4 era all the way to the SNES era. I can comfortably play these games for the rest of my life and not play anything new and be happy with that in all honestly.

Re: Reaction: PS5 Price Hike a Sobering Sign of the Times

Eadgar

Have not made the transition to this generation of modern consoles and it looks like I will not be doing it for a very long time, and you know what, that is no issue. I have a great library and backlog of both PS3 and PS4 games to still play, and a very nice gaming laptop to take advantage of when I want to play on GOG and Steam.

I am sure me and the PS5 will finally meet, maybe three years from now. I have a sneaky suspicion this generation of hardware will last a lot longer than any in the past.

Re: Vampire Battle Royale Bloodhunt Available for Free on PS5 Now

Eadgar

Tempted to give this game a try. It will be my very first battle royal game ever if indeed I do decide to take the plunge. If I do, however, I will be playing it on PC and not the PS V for the simple reason of not yet owning a PS V and more importantly, for me, I have become a believer of the mouse and keyboard as a superior input method.

I do hope mouse and keyboard support can be supported by Sony and developers going forward for many more games on the PS V.

Re: Best FPS Games on PS5

Eadgar

Would absolutely be delighted if every shooter released on the fiver has mouse and keyboard support. It is just so much more intuitive and immersive as opposed to just the controller, for this genre of course. It is like when I play fighters, I always use an arcade stick because that is the "proper" way to play fighters. Just like mouse and keyboard is the "proper" way to play fps.

Of course I mean proper only as an opinion and not a fact, but until this happens, I will be avoiding the genre on console and instead purchase exclusively on PC.

Re: Guilty Gear Strive Season 2, Cross-Play Between PS5, PS4, PC Announced

Eadgar

Great news for everyone involved. It is well known that the PC version of the game is the best because of the low input delay in that version. Has ArcSys done anything to improve the input delay on the PS versions, especially the PS5 since it was the worse of the bunch?

Same thing has happen with the KOF XV PS version which also has quite a high input delay.

Not sure if it is a developer thing or a Sony thing in the reasoning for this high input numbers but I hope Sony can work with them in reducing the input delay with future patches of the game if it is indeed a Sony thing.

Re: The Main Games at Evo 2022 Have Been Announced

Eadgar

I was actually going to compete in the Soul Calibur VI event in the year 2020 but the pandemic happened and you know the rest of the story.

Unfortunately Soul Calibur VI will not be a main event game but I hope it is a side tournament. If so I will still go and compete in it even though it is a side tournament.

Looking forward to this year's EVO and it is great to have it back as an event people can attend.
